Chapter Seventy Three

Lex was stunned when he opened the door to greet Sande, only for her to collapse into his arms, sobbing as if her world had fallen apart. Without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around her, gently stroking her hair while trying to make sense of what could have happened to shatter his fierce, strong girlfriend like this.

Her tears quickly soaked through his shirt, but he carefully nudged the door shut with his foot, then scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the sofa. There, he settled her in his lap, holding her close as she continued to cry.

She had mentioned visiting Adella earlier, but now he knew something must have gone terribly wrong to break her down this way. Sande was the toughest person he knew, and whatever had happened with Adella must have been devastating.

"Let it all out, sweetheart," Lex murmured softly, rubbing her back in soothing circles. "I'm here for you."
