>>Portia
What do I do with all this?
My hands still lingered in the air trying to grab something I couldn’t keep.
What am I supposed to do now? How am I supposed to reject him when I know he doesn’t hate me but is only scared? I looked at the ground as the crushing sound of rain lightened.
But,
I pursed my lips.
He doesn’t hate me. He’s just trying to protect me from that Lycan. I gulped and clenched my fists. But, why is he so scared of him? It’s not like that Lycan can just appear out of thin air. What is going on?
…

>>PortiaIt turns out, the case actually was serious. It calmed me down knowing that Egon really is trying to protect me by keeping me away from him. Although I don’t like how he did it, I’ll still accept it. This means there’s hope that I won’t be spending my life alone.“So you ended up spilling about the Alpha when you were talking to Miers?” Harou paced around his office, sloshing his wet shoes around the place “It makes sense, we finally have a clue as to why he suddenly went and killed him.” I watched the wet pattern disappear as his soles dried out.“But I didn’t even mention a name,” I replied, “I don’t even know the name of that Alpha.&rd
>>PortiaNo doubt his action startled me but deep down I was a little happy. Surprised at first but then gleeful, although I didn’t let it show on my face. His reaction meant he was jealous, right?“Hey,” Harou pretended to be concerned, “Is everything alright?” He looked at Egon with a concerned expression while ignoring the water droplets that splashed on us.Egon nodded, “Fine,” He stood up, “I’ll go get the towel.” He began to walk out of the lounge.“Sure,” Harou snickered but did his best to hide it from Egon.Midway to the Kitchen, Egon paused and looked back at us, “How did you know the pin
>>Portia“Yes?” Egon replied looking like he wasn’t fazed by me anymore and that made me somewhat sad. I want him to be more conscious of me, is that bad? Am I being too selfish?Harou and Ulrich were still having a conversation among themselves in the living room and I escaped while they delved deeper into their theories.“I want to ask you something,” I clenched my fists trying to give myself courage. Now that I was here, I want some clarity.“What?” He asked.I gulped and mentally nodded at myself, “Why didn’t you tell me right from the start why you were avoiding me?” In anticipatio
>>PortiaHarou hummed relaxingly while Ulrich looked nervous. He constantly spared Harou glances and I think he was contemplating whether to tell him that I am Egon’s erastai or to keep his mouth shut since Egon didn’t say anything either. It was a weird atmosphere but I knew it was all intentional on Harou’s part.“Harou,” Ulrich finally came to some decision and turned to look at the detective, “Don’t you think it’s dangerous to keep Portia with us?”Harou passed the prince a haughty smile, “Not at all,” He stepped closer to me, “I’ll be here with her at all times and make sure only ‘my’ scent is on her.” He wrapp
>>PortiaI nervously followed Jena to the kitchen while she looked fazed and disturbed. I guess, to a human the sudden feeling of powerful attraction might be a bit unnerving. But, I wouldn’t really know since I’m not a full-fledged human, nor was I raised like one.“Are you alright?” I asked her in a nervous low tone.“His eyes,” She stopped by the chair and placed her hand on its back for support, “His eyes flashed brighter…” She seemed lost in her thoughts and memory as if trying to make sense of what she saw but trying to make sense of supernatural things only makes it worse, “You,” She turned to me, “You saw that, didn’t you?!” Raising her index finger in my direction she asked me
>>Portia“Are you sure?” I looked at the phone in my hand, “You’re really giving this to me?” My eyes sparkled when I talked.“I realized you can’t tell me you’re staying out late if you don’t have a way to communicate with me.” I watched Jena as she prepared to leave. There are times when she leaves in the morning to go somewhere looking nothing like an exotic dancer, but rather a completely normal person with a decent job, like now.“Thank you,” A smile spread across my face and I clasped the phone gently between my hands. This is like a gift from an older sister, right?“Just be sure to keep me informed.” She wore a lo
>>PortiaI didn’t get to go far.I tried. I did my best but the twins caught me. Lilith took out her claws and clawed at me, tangling her hairy fingers in my hair and yanking me back. The violent impact made me drop the bag. No!I was more concerned about it dropping on the floor and the ingredients getting squished than the pain that was coming for me. My eyes were stuck to the bag, as it fell, the stuff, like the eggs and tomatoes, rolled out and got spoiled because of the impact.Lilith and Emily pulled me to the side alley, “You ruined so much by running away.” I was thrown into the dark narrow space where I skid against the rough road causing
>>PortiaI felt oddly queasy. There was a feeling inside my chest, telling me something was there. Something more.“Hmmm~” Miers seemed pretty relaxed for some reason, “Are you afraid Egon?” He asked with an amused expression on his face, “Because you know I’m stronger than you?”Egon didn’t reply to him, he only glared back in a tense position. People walked by us, all of them in such a hurry that none of them stopped to notice the tension between us.“What you’re feeling now, will never compare to what I felt.” Miers didn’t ooze any sort of malice or indicated that he was there to fight yet E
>>Jena“It was a wonderful event.” Ulrich and I sat on the rooftop open bar after attending Jenny's wedding.“It was nice,” Ulrich replied, “I like the pastel blues in Portia’s theme.”“I know!” I got excited, “And it went wonderfully with Jenny’s theme of pastel yellow.”“Looks like they both put in a lot of effort and time for time.”I let out a satisfied sigh, “Yea,” I smiled and leaned into Ulrich, they sure did, “I’m glad it all went well.” The cool breeze caressed my skin as I took a sip from my drink and let it relax me.As I gazed out at the city skyline,
>>JennyI can’t believe the time is here. I know I was waiting for this day. I wanted to marry Koen so badly so that he would mark me. But I’m still reluctant about moving to The Silver City. It hasn’t even been a year since I started working as an officer. I don’t want to leave my job.Portia is leaving with Egon directly after the wedding ends, she’s more than happy to go with Egon now. I saw the mark on the back of her neck this morning and I found myself anticipating the one I’ll be getting.I was sitting in the bridal room, all dolled up when my mate came to disrupt the thoughts that were torturing me.“What are you worried about?” Koen came and sat down nex
(Further two years later)>>Portia“Hey hurry up!” Jenny whined, “We’re already late!” Jenny graduated from the police academy and now is bossier than ever even though she still hasn’t passed her National Detective and Investigative Test (NDIT) She’s working as an officer now while I just finished my final exam two weeks ago.“Just a minute.” I told her, “We’re leaving for good, I have to make sure we’re not leaving anything behind.” I got an Education degree from a university near Jenny’s and we shared a dorm for four years.I looked around the place that was now empty and I tightly clutched the hand bag in my hands, &ld
>>Jenny“Alright then,” We waited till another music piece started, “It’s really not hard. Since you’re smart. You’ll do great.”I nodded and as another piece started we swayed to the rhythm of the music, our bodies moving in sync. It was really easy to follow Koen’s lead, especially because he was going slow for me so that I could catch up.In the midst of the dance, I couldn't resist the urge to tease him, probably because I was on an edge and needed to divert my attention from the problem tugging at my brain. I was being bolder than usual. Leaning in closer, I whispered into his ear, my voice laced with a playful edge. "You know," I murmured, my breath tickling his skin, "I heard that kissing burns calories, wanna test that theory?"
>>JennyThe grand hall was adorned with opulent decorations, Jena, dressed in regal attire, stepped forward with confidence. She was wearing a breathtaking gown, a creation of exquisite silk and delicate lace. The fabric cascaded around her, flowing like a waterfall of opulenceThe officiant, the highest-ranking werewolf elder, stepped forward and began the ceremony, reciting ancient rituals and blessings. He spoke of the qualities that define a true leader: strength, wisdom, compassion, and the ability to unite the werewolf clans under a common purpose and blah blah blah. I couldn’t concentrate much on it really. One by one, the leaders of the packs stepped forward, offering their allegiance and loyalty to Jena. They pledged to support and follow her, recognizing her as the rightful
(Two years later)>>PortiaDuring the summer vacation holidays after our second year, Jena and Ulrich held their marriage ceremony and Jena’s coronation as Queen. Jenny and I made our way to the Silver City. Considering Jenny doesn’t have a full mark and hasn’t gone through her shifting she has to be accompanied by a wolf to pass the barriers of the Silver City even though she has special permission from the king himself to enter the lycan city. The forest was dense and we had to travel a lot on foot to reach the entrance of the city. It was exhausting but when we reached and saw the two people waiting for us there outside the entrance, our fatigue flew away. It was like a happy moment, where the chemicals in our brains shifted, causing us to forget about our tiredness.
>>JenaWe both waited for them to make a decision, we stood quietly while they glared back at us. It was quite unnerving to just stand there in the awkward and deadly silent while two God knows how old lycans stared at me.Then the previous Queen let out a sigh“Bianca dear,” Mother in law turned to her, “I’m sorry we called you here.” She shook her head, “You can go back. I apologize for inconveniencing you.”!!!Does she mean what I think she means by that?!?!Bianca was baffled at the apology, “Are you taking the human’s side?” She looked at the couple in di
>>UlrichShe nodded, “Yes,” Her answer held no doubt, “You need a Queen. And it has to be someone educated. You need a noble lycan to help you with your work as king.”….“NO!” I answered back in disbelief, “Not happening.” I removed her hands from my face and stepped back, “Absolutely not!”I had a bad feeling on my way here too but I wasn’t expecting them to say something so stupid.Marry someone else? Make someone else my Queen? Does that make any sense??!The depth of my love for Jena was unyielding. Every fibe
>>JenaBianca Beez!?Why is she here? I keep hearing her name but the only solace I had was that I didn’t have to see her myself or see her near Ulrich. So why is she here, in the palace, out of the blue?“Oh?” I raised my brow at her, “I’ve never heard of you.” I gave her a confident smile.“Oh?” She looked a little offended at that, but it seemed my words didn’t bother her much, “Well, men tend to hide their lovers.”Her words pissed me off. Lovers? Is she trying to imply that she and Ulrich were lovers?“Oh, no,” I shook my he
