“Alex!” I scream, slamming the apartment door open with shaking hands. My heart thunders against my ribcage, the frantic beats echoing in my ears. The dimly lit room spins around me as I lean against the door, trying to catch my breath. Alex and I thought staying here would be safer than the pack house, but now I’m not so sure. Terror claws at my insides, making me nauseous. I can hardly catch my breath, each inhale feeling like it’s scraped raw against my throat.

Heavy footsteps pound down the stairs, growing louder with each step, and suddenly, Alex is right in front of me, eyes wide with alarm. “Hannah, what’s wrong?” His voice is taut, his face etched with worry lines as he takes in my disheveled appearance. He reaches out, almost hesitant, as if afraid of what I might say.

I open my mouth, but no words come out. Tears spill down my cheeks in hot, panicked streams. The memory of Collins’ determined eyes as he chased me replays in my mind, making me shudder violently. “He...he almo

I don’t know why they claimed Alice was the adopted one, but the truth is, you are the one who was adopted,” Alex says solemnly after I finish recounting my dream.I can’t find the words to respond, my throat constricting as the truth sinks in. He’s right. It wasn’t just a dream, but a suppressed childhood memory that has suddenly resurfaced with startling clarity. His thumbs trace soothing circles over my knuckles as he tries to calm the storm raging inside me. “You know, it also explains a lot of things now. Why they were so hell-bent on you being my wife and not Alice, even though she’s their real daugh

ALICEI couldn’t believe I was on the run because of that infuriating bitch, Hannah. Everything was perfect - Alex was finally mine until she came along and ruined it all with her damned specialness. If only she wasn’t a rare silver wolf, that potion Collins had, the witch brew, would have worked on her. Then, it wouldn’t matter whether Alex obtained the antidote or not. But no, she just had to be fucking special, didn’t she? I seethed with rage at the thought. Collins was a fool for not considering the possibility that the potion might not work on a silver wolf. Now, the werewolf police were likely hot on our trail for practicing black magic - a crime punishable by unimaginable horrors I dared not face.To make matters even worse, Cameron had rejected me because of my actions, all thanks to Hannah. If Alex wasn’t so pathetically in love with her and determined to get her back, he wouldn’t have sought out that blasted antidote and given it to Cameron, leaving me with only one mate. F

Six years laterThe sky hangs heavy with gray clouds, casting a somber pallor over the cemetery. A steady, cold rain patters against the black canopy of our umbrella, each drop echoing the ache in our hearts. The chill in the air seeps into our bones, an unwelcome reminder that even as spring struggles to emerge, grief knows no season. The wind sighs through the skeletal trees, carrying with it the earthy scent of damp soil and the delicate perfume of early blossoms. As we stand at the wrought-iron gates, the weight of sorrow presses down upon us, suffocating in its intensity.Alex grips my hand tightly, our fingers intertwining, as our five-year-old daughter, Arabella, nestles between us beneath the shelter of the umbrella. Her small hand clutches a posy of wildflowers, their vibrant petals a stark contrast to the monochrome landscape. She gazes up at me, her wide, gray eyes—so like her father’s—brimming with questions she’s still too young to articulate. In the soft curve of her che

I stare, transfixed by the haunting metamorphosis she has undergone, barely recognizing the woman before me as my sister.“What happened to you?” I whisper, my voice laced with disbelief and dread as if addressing a vengeful spirit.Alice ignores my question, her eyes burning with a sinister light. “Do you know I have dreamt of this moment a million times?” She takes slow, deliberate steps towards me, each footfall reverberating through the floorboards. An ominous energy crackles around her, suffocating the very air.I instinctively step back, putting distance between us as dread coils in my stomach. “Is that so?” I keep my tone even, masking the frantic pounding of my heart. I shake my head vigorously, trying to dislodge the memory of that fateful day from my mind. So many lives were lost, so much pain and suffering inflicted. Too many people are still counting on me, relying on my strength to make sure that doesn’t repeat itself.Seeking a distraction from the thoughts swirling in my head, I decide to check on Mila. Perhaps her company will provide a much-needed respite. I make my way down the corridor, my footsteps echoing hollowly, and knock gently on her door. No response. A tendril of concern winds its way through me as I call out, “Mila? Are you here?”Only silence answers me. Taking a deep breath, I slowly push open the door and step inside, my eyes widening in shock at the sight that greets me. Mila and Cameron are tangled together on the bed, bodies intertwined, clothes scattered haphazardly across the floor. They are so lost in having sex that they remain oblivious to my presence. Heat rushes to my cheeks as a wave of embarrassment washes over
