Cassie

After we ate and watched the rest of the movie, Thomas helped me with my evening exercises, then we went to wash up, the shower groaned when it was turned on, but the water was hot and we had brought our own soaps. After being in the car for so long it felt good to be clean and to get into some fresh clothes. We repacked our bags then climbed into bed. Put another movie on and I fell asleep before the opening credits had even ended.

I am suddenly woken by the shrill ringing of a phone, but in the fuzziness of waking it doesn't really register. I hear Thomas spring from his bed, which creaks at the sudden movement, and answer it. It is still dark outside and I can faintly see the moon high in the sky, through the gaudy lace hanging over the window. I'm not really listening to the conversation happening on the p

Cassie -I heard Thomas climbing out of the car and I turned to see if he was following. I hear his terrifying growl as I see him shift into his wolf and jump on the first man approaching the vehicle. I turned back around and continued onwards. I can hear the fighting and I run, I move as fast as I can in my weakened state, crashing through the brush and stumbling over roots, running deeper into the forest. I dare not look back again, it will only slow me down. Instead, I keep going, moving forwards. After a little while, I hear what sounds like a roar and then I hear Thomas scream. The sound chills me to the bone and I fall, landing hard. I feel my wrist snap and cry out in pain. Then Thomas' voice breaks me from the fog of pain clouding my mind."Run Cassie, don't stop!" He screams and his voice reverberates around me, pulling me from my stupor, "Run my love an

I didn't inherit the role though, the previous gamma was childless, I earned the role by being loyal and by defeating all other applicants, originally I was just a warrior. not that there is anything wrong with being a warrior, but when I was handed the Gamma power l, I knew I was born for this role. • Betrayed by the Beta   Chapter 32 - Hiding and helping her.

Jason -I have a small slightly rundown cabin to the north of our territory which I use mainly to store clothes for shifting purposes, but it has a mattress and a small kitchenette. Daisy suggests I hide the girl there, while she holds our position. I make my way to the cabin and deposit her onto the mattress, it is a little musty so I take some time opening the window and scooping some of the debris out the door, then I place one of my jumpers over her as a blanket. It is the best I can do for now.I manage to find a scrap of paper and a pen and write her a note just in case she wakes up before I finish my patrol and come back. You are safe here, please stay and await my return, use anything you can find, I will bring food, clothes and some medical su

Jason -Great, just great, leaving the Alpha office with a sinking feeling in my stomach that is the only thing I can think. Absolutely typical, I knew they had to be connected, I'm harbouring a criminal.Jack told me that he had received a call from Twin Lakes Pack, the pack nearest to ours. The Beta called to inform him that they have a woman missing and that they are looking for her, she is accused of murdering their Luna with a cocktail of wolfsbane and liquid silver.According to the Beta, their Alpha is not doing well, which isn't surprising with his mate gone, and that the Beta has been tasked with finding the culprit and delivery her sentence, apparently he is the heir to the Alpha position and wishes to handle this situation quickly to demonstrate his ability

  • Betrayed by the Beta   Chapter 34 - Waking

Cassie -I'm dreaming, of that much I am positive, opening my eyes slowly, I find I'm in a field full of daffodils once again, and I turn slowly in a circle, on the spot multiple times looking for any sign of the moon goddess or of my wolf. I'm hoping, almost praying that during this meeting my wolf will come back to me. I feel perfectly fine here, though I know I am still injured from my escape, I can't see or feel my injuries in this place. I spin on the spot so often that I start to get dizzy, so spotting a large boulder at the edge of the field, I decide to head over to it and sit down while I wait. I pick my way carefully through the bright blooms and gingerly perch myself upon it.After what feels like an eternity I finally see movement across the field. There is a bush rustling over there and slowly my wolf step

Jason -A soft shuffling sound rouses me, from the light sleep I managed to fall into, a little before dawn. I can see the sky is beginning to lighten on the horizon through the open window above the cot. The rustling sound that woke me then draws my eyes to the girl before me, she is curled into a ball in the corner with her doe like eyes fixed on me, she doesn't blink and so, nor do I.Very slowly, hoping to not startle the girl, I sit up from the slouch I had sunk into, maintaining eye contact, then I lean forwards with my elbows on my knees and speak quietly, as if to a bird."Hey there little one, my name is Jason, I am Gamma of this pack, can you tell me what happened to you?" I figured there is no point beating around the bush, I need to know what kind of situation I am de

Daisy -Once I finally manage to get Jase out of the cabin I turn to the girl and beam at her, she shrinks back away from me and I deflate a little, is she scared of me? I slowly take a step towards her showing her my hands as though she were a feral beast, and I perch on the edge of the armchair facing her. When I sit she seems to relax a little, guess she isn't a hugger, maybe my entrance was a bit too much for her. But I couldn't stop myself, hearing her story through the door broke my heart, to have gone through all of that in such a short space of time, most of the women I know would be rocking in a corner after that.So I sit and try not to fidget too much, hoping that by being calm I can help her calm down a bit."So, in case you missed it, I'm Daisy," I say, hoping she wi

Ace -She got away? How could she have escaped? I bang my fists on the desk before me and the warriors, who were here to provide me with an update on the task of her capture, jump startled by the sudden noise in the otherwise silent room. I let out a growl and they shrink into themselves, cleverly fearing me.Maddie stands from her seat beside me and runs her hands across my back and arms, trying to distract me from my anger."They will get her love, and when they do you will be able to handle her anyway you see fit," she purrs in my ear."Leave us," I snarl and the warriors don't hesitate, they scramble for the door, shoving each other trying to be the first to get out."What does i

Daisy - My darling brother was never one to covet what others had, but because he didn’t want to burden his best friend with 2 packs to run, not when he had only just found his mate after almost 8 years of longing for her. So, with him taking on the role of Alpha to a pack under such turmoil, I am now the unofficial Beta of Twin Lakes as, without Dave as Alpha and me as Beta the pack would be completely leaderless. Ace very quickly went underground, he like, literally vanished, he is in hiding, the bloody coward ran as soon as he felt the shift in power, according to some of the pack members. He escaped with Maddie who was the Delta's daughter and her father. From what we have learned, it seems her father began orchestrating her rise through the ranks a long time ago, he poisoned the Luna to be barren, he encouraged Maddie to be with Ace, as he would have been Alpha since the current Alpha was and would always be childless, and he helped to kill the Luna to weaken Alpha Sven and Go

I was moaning about something or another that Dave had done, I can't remember what h

  • Betrayed by the Beta   Chapter 76 - To be Continued…..

Authors POV - Cassie and Jack talk over the concerns they have regarding Brian and Mark heading out on this mission now that they know what Mark is thinking, but with the leak being out it would be odd for Brian and Mark to not go on this so-called trip they had planned. They decide to send Dave a message and see if he is still awake so they can go over options together and within minutes of sending the message to Dave the phone in Jack’s office lets out a resounding ring. Cassie jumps at the sudden sound after the silence that had fallen between them while they waited.Jack reaches around Cassie, who is still perched on his knee, and picks up the phone, placing it on the desk and opting for the speaker option so the three could talk more comfortably.“What are you 2 love birds still doing up at this hour? And what could you possibly need me for? It hasn’t gone stale over there already has it?” They can hear the humour in Dave’s words but instead of joining the banter playfully Cass

Cassie -We talk a little more about what we think Jason should do to get Tara’s attention and to hold it when suddenly Jason perks up, “I’ve got it,” he says “I can do that, I need to talk to Jack, do you know where he is?”“He’s in his office, want me to come with you?”“Nah, I know exactly what to do, I’m going to move into the room next to hers, she won’t be able to avoid me then, and you know she has been since the moment she smelt me in your office, even when she didn’t know it was me, it’s not person to me, it’s personal to her mate and I’m going to show her that she can count on me.”I worry for a moment that this might backfire, but Jason seems so convinced it will work that I dare not argue with him, at least he is showing signs of life again and I can be on hand as a confidant whenever he needs one.“Ok,”

  • Betrayed by the Beta   Chapter 74 - She doesn't want me

Jason -When someone knocked on my door I had this swelling sensation in my chest, I was so hopeful that it was Tara, that she had finally come to talk to me about whatever had her holding herself back from our bond. It has been an agonising 24 hours since we discovered our bond and so far I had spent a grand total of about 30 minutes with her. Was I a disappointment? Had I failed her in some way already? I had spent the last 23 and a half hours trying to distract myself, telling myself she will come around, she will come to me, we will be together. I haven’t slept, I haven’t been able to eat, I can barely bring myself to move from the sofa I managed to stumble to after she fled from my presence last night.Seeing Cassie standing behind my door was heartbreaking, I had managed to convince myself it was Tara. I love Cassie, we share that special bond t

Cassie -Daisy, Tara and I talked for another hour, Daisy told us everything she knew, which was pretty much everything Dave knew. Apparently though busy, the two of them sit together in private for a couple of hours each day trying to solve this conundrum. We then went to meet the guys and as we got to Jack's office, Brian and Mark were just leaving, they both bowed their heads to me even though I have told them it isn't necessary when others aren't around, then they scarpered off talking about whether they had a tent, which was odd.Knocking on the door I waited to be granted entry, I may be his mate and Luna but I believe everybody should be allowed the right to deny access to another should they deem it necessary. After being scolded by Jack for knocking and promising

Cassie -Tara looks relieved when we don’t push her for more information about her reaction to us mentioning her mate, I will be digging into that later, but for now, while Daisy is here I want to go through everything we know and see what we can think of for how to catch Ace.I know he isn’t done with me, he won’t want to let my escape go unpunished. I could hope that Maddie would convince him that I am not worth the effort, but with the way she has treated me in the past I imagine she wouldn’t mind getting another chance to torment me. Maybe her father can convince them both, maybe he will get them far enough away from all of us that they can make a new life for themselves and leave our packs alone. I know Ace was looking forward to the power of being an Alpha, maybe he can create his own pack, make himself Alpha and gather members over

Jack -I quickly slide out of bed and head to the ensuite to wash myself and grab a warm cloth. When I return she has turned onto her side facing where I should be with an arm reaching out as though searching for me, a slight pout on her luscious lips. I make quick work of cleaning between her legs and I throw the cloth into the basket just inside the bathroom before sliding back into bed and wrapping her up in my arms. Her pout smoothes out as soon as our skin touches and she shuffles towards me resting her head on my chest, I begin to drift off to sleep with a smile on my face, thanking the moon goddess for this woman. My wolf whispers to me in a sleepy voice "perfect for us" and I agree with him wholeheartedly before finally succumbing to sleep and finding my love in my dreams waiting for me.When I wake up the next
