Landon's P.O.V
"Sir!"I lifted my head and my glance fell on my chief guard, John. He was a short, bulgy man who often got on my nerves. Especially when I needed my alone time and he disobeyed my orders."John, why are you here? I want to be alone." I said, slightly annoyed."Sorry Sir." He apologized but took a step forward. "We found a girl around the border. We thought she was initially dead but after some examinations, we realized she had a concussion and needed medical attention.""Then give her one and do not bother me anymore."He cleared his throat. "There's a slight problem with that. She's from the Lightcrest pack."My ears shot up immediately I heard those words. Lightcrest pack? Could she be the one? Shivers of anticipation and dread flooded my body as I rose from my seat.A month ago, I received a prophesy from the seer. A prophesy that held my fate and destiny. I would finally find my erasthai.Cursed from birth, I was unable to ever feel the mate bond. I was destined to be alone and to die without feeling the love of a mate. I had been with several women but my desire to be with them faded immediately as I never formed a connection with them. For years, I have searched for a solution but everything I did proved to be futile. Not until the seer revealed that my erasthai and the one who would break the curse would turn up during the red moon ceremony.I didn't want to believe the witch nor the prophecy. There were hundreds of her kind that I had sought help from but disappointed me.Many of them left prophecies and told me false visions about my erasthai and destiny. So, I didn't want to believe that she was right this time. But somehow, I held onto a little faith and ordered the patrol of the border throughout the red moon ceremony.Of course, a lot of girls had turned up at the border within the week. But they weren't her. The prophecy revealed that she was from the Lightcrest pack, one that held no significant status in the pack. And now, a girl had been found from the same pack. My heart hammered in my chest and I tried not to show my fear. Would I be disappointed again? Like the others, would I look into her eyes and feel nothing? Would she be just another lost girl who couldn't help me?"Take me to her," I said to John who was watching me keenly. He led me to the clinic where the girl was treated in a private room. As I stepped into her room, fear and anxiousness gripped me fiercely. She was still unconscious and was lying gracefully on a bed. She was a young one, no older than nineteen. She looked fragile, hurt, broken and I wondered what she was doing so far away from home."Leave us." I ordered everyone in the room and they scurried away quickly.I moved closer to her bed and examined her. I watched as her chest rose and fell steadily. Her scent filled my nose as I stroked her golden hair slowly. She was beautiful but she wasn't the one.I swallowed as I took in another heavy disappointment. I felt nothing around her. Her scent moved me like no other did but that was it. She wasn't special, she was just like every other girl.Filled with anger and disappointment, I turned quickly to leave the room. But I heard her voice whisper to me."Stay. Stay with me." Her voice was tender and alluring. I turned around to face her but she was still unconscious. Something within me convinced me to stay and I didn't fight it.****************I knew she had woken up when her heartbeat increased. I spent the entire night with her despite John's plea to escort me back to my room. From across the room, I watched as she rose slowly from the bed.Her eyes scanned the room quickly until her gaze met mine. And then the most incredible thing happened. For the first time in years, I could feel my wolf. Not only could I feel him but I could hear his thoughts and desires. And right now, he wanted no one but her."Who are you?" She asked, looking terrified. I tried to open my mouth to speak but I was overwhelmed by several emotions. My erasthai was sitting right in front of me. The prophecy was right. How couldn't I feel anything yesterday? Could she feel the bond? Would she want me?All the years I had searched for her and she just found her way to me. I wanted to hold her desperately, to kiss her and tell her how long I had longed for her."Excuse me, Sir." Her voice pulled me out of my thoughts. "Who are you? And where am I?"I cleared my throat and pulled myself together. "I'm Landon and you're safe.""Safe? I need to get back home." She mustered. "My mum must be worried sick.""You had a concussion and need enough rest. You might pass out again on your way home." I answered, trying to restrain myself from moving closer to her."I can manage." She said and tried to get out of the bed."Stay." I said while rushing to her bed side. "Stay with me." My eyes reached deep into her soul and begged her to stay. I couldn't let her go, not yet.She was taken aback by my statement and tried to regain her composure. I saw as she tried to blink back tears and my heart sank."At least, tell me where I am." She begged with tears in her eyes. "How far am I from home?"I breathed. "You're in my home. The Crescent Pack. And like I said, my name is La–""Landon Grayson." She replied, cutting me off. "The Lycan Prince." She had finally recognized who I was."What's your name?"She swallowed before running her hands through her hair which tumbled over her shoulders. I couldn't help but stare at her. Her blue eyes were enthralling, like the sea on a calm morning. She had a glossy skin which looked delicately soft. Her lips were pouty and full. She had a comely figure which was stem-thin and a scent which pulled me toward her."I'm Daisy. Why are you helping me??"I had expected her question but I was still unable to answer it well regardless.I licked my lips nervously. "Because I've been searching for you for over a hundred years."She didn't bother to hide the shock on her face. "Me?" She chuckled. "Why have you been looking for me because I think you've got the wrong person?""A month ago, I received a prophecy that a girl from Lightcrest pack will find her way to me. And she will be the answer to all my problems." I paused, then continued. "I was losing hope until you showed up."She blinked rapidly. "I don't understand. What does that have to do with me?"I moved closer to her and lifted her chin to meet my solemn gaze. "Daisy, you are the answer to all my problems. You are the reason I'm going to know what true love feels like. You are my erasthai."Daisy's P.O.V"You are my erasthai." The words replayed in my head over and over. Was I dreaming or did he call me his mate?He had to be joking. Yet, he didn't look playful or amused as I stared at him. His eyes seemed to be challenging me to deny his claim. They seemed to want me to test him, so he could show me how real they were."What do you mean?" I managed to squeak out instead. "Are you joking?"He gently shoved a strand of my hair behind my ear. "What do you think I meant?" His smile was delicate as he asked. "I mean, you're mine. You're everything I've been searching for and I'm blessed to have found you."My heart fluttered crazily at his words regardless of my inability to digest his words.No. I couldn't be happy with it. I didn't have to even consider being the mate of a Lycan I just met in minutes. I was tired of being treated like an object and my heart was still aching from being dumped and betrayed by my best friend.I didn't need another mate to claim me or pretend
Alexander's P.O.VI missed her. I missed her so bad.I didn't think I would regret my actions this much but after twelve hours without Daisy, life felt different.I could barely get some sleep because of the guilt of what I did to her. My wolf was restless as well and I could feel his pain. However, I had the rejected the mate bond and it helped with the pain greatly. Daisy was the sweetest soul and didn't deserve such heartbreak.Despite what people said about our relationship, she was kind and selfless. She made me a better version of myself and helped me understand life in a better way.I couldn't bear to see the tears in her eyes as I said those words to her. I was further broken when she realized I betrayed her with her best friend, Martha. But there was nothing I could do and I wished I had done thing's differently.Although we had dated for three years, our sexual relationship suffered severely. Daisy insisted on waiting for her mate and as much as it angered me, I agreed to it
“Daisy, don’t do this to me,” Alexander cried. “We can still fix this. We can still get back together. Forget about Emily, I’ll make you the Luna of this pack.”But I was no longer interested in him or the mate bond. Immediately I rejected him, I felt free and my wolf welcomed the desire to find someone better for us. “It’s over between us, Alexander.” I voiced, my eyes narrowed in anger. I was fighting my emotions and my wolf’s desire to rip him to pieces. “If you ever try to touch her again or even come close, I promise that you’ll not live to tell the tales.” Landon growled at him in anger. Watching how possessive and protective he was of me was truly beautiful. Why did I have to settle for Alexander who cheated on me with my best friend when I could be with Landon? After all, Alexander would lose his position as the Alpha and he would have nothing. That was enough revenge for me. We left the pack house and I decided to go see my mother. I knew she was worried sick about me an
“I’m so sorry baby,” my mother rushed to my side and hugged me. “I’m sorry that he did that to you.” I expected her to question me or try to get a better understanding of the matter. But she believed me completely. “It’s fine, mum.” I replied, trying to stay strong. My heart still churned with sadness whenever I thought of Alexander. “He didn’t deserve me or my love.” “That son of a bitch had the guts to cheat on my daughter. After three years, he decided to cheat with your best friend?” She fired back, wiping her tears. “I expected better from Emily. She was like a daughter to me. How could she?” “She insulted me at the pack house. I didn’t think she would ever betray me like that.” I responded. “How are you feeling? I know it must be hard for you right now,” she held me gently, peering into my eyes with worry. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to protect you. You must not let your wolf hurt because of this. The moon goddess will heal your heart. I pray she gives you another chance at
The ride back to Landon’s pack was quiet but filled with emotions. He could feel her fear to start a new life with him. Despite her silence, he could feel how tensed she was because she was close to him.But his inner wolf wanted to take control and stake his claim on her. He wondered if she could feel his desire for her in the car. He wondered if she knew how crazy she made him feel, how she could easily mess with his control. But he knew she was hurting so he decided he would keep his hands off her. He would let her heart heal from her recent heartbreak. His forehead burst into a hot sweat as he repeated that rule to himself. He wasn’t going to claim Daisy. He wouldn’t, not yet.She needed to be protected–even from her own soft heart. “Where are we?” She breathed, looking out the car’s small window when the car came to a halt.He looked down at her shining eyes. “My pack.” His smile was warm. “My home.” They were standing in front of the palace surrounded by beautiful buildings.
Daisy’s POVI truly didn’t believe that Landon was going to kiss me. Not until I felt his mouth against mine, rough and hot, hard and sensual like silk. I gasped, closing my eyes as I felt the caress of his embrace like a thousand shards of light. He pulled me more tightly against him, and I felt his power, his strength. I titled my head back, deepening the kiss as my hands twined in his hair. My eyes squeezed shut as I felt the hot, plundering sweep of his tongue, felt the velocity of the world spinning around me. Without breaking our kiss, he lifted me into his arms and carried me to the bed. When he set me down at the edge of the bed, my eyes found his crotch. He was already hard, he wanted me and I didn’t want to deny him my body. He ripped his lips away from me and lowered them to my nipples, sucking my delicate skin through the shirt. He tugged the shirt and took it off me with one quick movement, leaving me in nothing but my panties. With a growl and a fierce kiss, he grip
BACK IN LIGHTCREST PACKThe palace of the lightcrest pack was swarming with guests and elders from different packs. The palace walls, usually green and dull, was fully covered in fresh paint. Servants and maids could be seen running around to get things in place for the ceremony—the crowning of a new Alpha. Marcus, the soon to be Alpha inspected the hallways every minute, his eyes pointing out everything that wasn’t perfect. After all, it was his big day. The day he would be made the Alpha of the pack. The ceremony was slated to start by noon and it was only quarter past ten but Marcus was shivering with nervousness in his room. It was not easy to lead a pack, of course, but it was far harder when the previous Alpha was still alive. “You know you don’t have to be scared of him.” His mate, Lilian told him as she wrapped her arms around him. He pulled her closer and planted a kiss on her lips. “I know.” He ran his fingers through his hair anxiously. “It’s just that this is the first t
“It’s done.” Alexander informed Martha through their mind link. “Marcus and Lilian are dead.” Alexander leaned close to Marcus body, which was shrinking with each passing minute. “Hmmmm. I’m sorry this had to happen to you. But I can’t let you take over my pack. I wish it was someone else, I truly wish it was.” A knock sounded on the door, jolting him from his thoughts and Alexander opened it to let Martha in. With two large duffel bags in her hands, she grinned widely when she saw Marcus and Lilian lying dead on the bed. She wrapped her arms around Alexander’s neck and gave him a long, wet kiss. “You did it! I’ve always known you were a man of your words.” His lips quirked. “We have to get rid of the bodies before anyone finds out. In less than an hour, the entire pack will be expecting them at the coronation hall.” “Okay. They are beginning to smell already.” Martha giggled and gave him one of the bags. Lilian meant nothing to her. She would kill her again and again if it was co
LANDONMy father, the king...I quickly placed Daisy back on the pillow and slowly pulled away from her. I could see the question and worry in her eyes, but I didn’t have the time to appease her. Quickly, I ran to the wardrobe and grabbed clothes for myself, a royal robe.No matter what, one must not enter the crown area without having a robe. I turned to look at Daisy, who was holding a pillow to herself in a bid to cover up her nakedness. I tried to smile, but it didn’t come out quite right."Wait here," I said instead. With that, I stepped out of the room to a pensive-looking John. His head was down in obeisance, and I could tell that the matter was grave, for there was none of his calming aura at that moment."What happened to my father?” I asked at once.He shook his head. "I don’t have much information about it, Prince Landon. All I know is that the queen has sent for you, and she is in no good mood," he added.I gave a quick nod and moved quickly toward the elevator. John follo
DAISYLandon led me to his room, without saying a word to me, or letting go of my waist. I was grateful for that because it would simply make the princesses see the chemistry between us and annoy them even more."Come in," he said politely.I said nothing as I stepped in. Taking several steps away from him, in other to put some distance between us, I watched as he shut the door firmly behind him. I held my hands together, hoping to control the pain that I was feeling. "I have missed you," he said suddenly as he turned to look at me.I scoffed. "Save those words. You have shown me what I meant to you since the night of the ball."I blinked in shock as Landon suddenly pushed me against the wall, trapping me with his body. I could hear the pounding of my heart and I knew he could too. "Don’t try to intimidate me," I said, feeling heat all over my body. He smirked. "What are you afraid of, Daisy?"I looked away from his piercing eyes, unable to take any more of the heat that he exuded.
DAISY"I can’t keep staying here," I grumbled as I got out of bed, feeling completely drained. I knew I needed rest but I couldn’t continue to lie in bed all day. I was losing my mind with all the thoughts in my head and a distraction was needed. I had no idea what time it was, but I knew I had spent two days in bed after Landon’s last visit. The fact he had not come again to check up on me was so painful. Was I really going to succeed in breaking my own relationship with my own hands? Had I really succeeded in pushing him away? I shook my head as I walked barefoot to the bathroom. I can’t take the whole blame since he was the one who didn’t do anything to defend me from his mother’s continuous onslaught.Sighing I pulled my shirt off and tossed it to the nearest washing basket. I could imagine that I actually had some odour since I had not had my bath for two days, but at least, I was fine now. Stepping into the bath, I opened the tap, and allowed the water to wash me from my hair
DAISY"Ugh!"My fingers lightly kneaded the side of my head as I tried to stay awake. I felt as though someone was hitting my head with a hammer, and I just didn’t know how to get the pain off. Slowly, I turned over to my left in a bid to see what time it was. The giant clock on the wall claimed it was 6 am."Maybe, I’m going through this because I woke up too early?" I mumbled to myself as I tried to get to my feet.It was as though I was swimming in a pool, with no means to swim out. Biting down my lips in pain, I tried hard not to scream. I pushed my hands back a bit, and slowly pushed myself up."Oh, moon goddess!" I breathed out at the same time the door sprang open, and in came, Prince Landon holding a tray of freshly baked biscuit and warm scented tea.He beamed at me as though we had suddenly sorted out all the problems between us. "I’m so glad you’re awake, darling," he said heartily.Since when did he call me that and act this way? I couldn’t stand the way he was so frivolou
ALEXANDERThe whole atmosphere was so chill as death, and I didn’t need to be told twice what had caused it to be so. There was no point in dwelling in such matters, but I found that I couldn’t think straight with all that had happened.I turned towards the empty podium where the queen and king should be, but it was vacant. "Do you think someone really tried to kill Daisy, or she had orchestrated all these to gain sympathy from the Lycan Prince?" I asked Wyatt who stood behind me in silence."Alpha, I wouldn’t know for sure till I investigate the matter. But, whatever happened here doesn’t look like a ploy. She was really in pain," Wyatt said calmly.I frowned at that as my hands twisted over my pants. If that were true, then who could have done such a thing? It was definitely not me, because all I wanted was to get her out of here, and to my pack. I wanted her to knee before me in submission, and unable to say a word in her defence. My eyes scanned the room, and I realised that Mart
LANDONI hugged Daisy so hard, not wishing to let her go even for a minute. She meant a lot to me, more than I could put into words. How could someone so pure go through so much pain?"Landon, I can’t breathe," she whined.A smile touched my lips as I slowly released her. "You don’t want me to hug you, silly girl," I teased just as hard.I let my fingers slowly slide through her hair. She was the most amazing, and the sweetest soul ever. Nothing must go wrong with her. Her eyes were slowly dim, and I could tell that she was struggling to get herself and that broke me."Come closer," she said softly.I leaned closer to her and felt her hands weakly hold me tight. It felts so good to be able to have such a hold on me, and I just wanted to be with her even more than I ever had in my whole lifetime."Can you stop this awful display now?" Mother’s voice pierced through the moment.I gritted my teeth as I slowly pulled away, kissing Daisy on her forehead. I looked down on her face, and her
LANDON“Daisy," I said in a whisper. My legs shook as it moved forward. This couldn’t be happening. Lowering myself on the floor, I pulled back the robe even further, and noted how lifeless she was with blue veins moving around her skin.I swallowed hard as I caressed Daisy’s hollow cheeks. There was no way she would be dead right now. It must be a mistake and John didn’t know what he was saying. Yes, that should be it."Get up," I cried. “You need to open your eyes. You need to get up and come with me.”"Prince Landon.” John whispered, pain evident in his voice. I ignored him at once, placing both hands around Daisy’s cheeks as I willed her mentally to wake up. "This cannot be the end. You can’t leave me on the night I completely failed you. Come on, you need to wake up! I have searched for you all of my life, and it’s important to take care of you," I cried. Daisy wouldn’t still open her eyes, despite my pleadings. I felt like I was about to drown in a bottomless pit and there wou
LANDON"Landon, let’s talk to the princesses that I have invited," mother said easily as she touched me by the arm.I slowly retracted my hands from hers. This was not how I wished the night to go. Looking around frantically for Daisy, I noted that she was engaged in some hot words with one of the princess, who I couldn’t care less about her name. I knew she was about to cry, but she was trying to be strong. It was a trait that I admired, but I wish she would just drop it."Landon," mother whined once more.I turned my gaze to her, my eyes as cold as ice. "You shouldn’t have done this," I blurted out.She gave me a look. "What are you talking about dear?"I moved closer to her, not caring who heard what at the moment. "You broke my relationship with Daisy in the most disgusting way. Why? Tell me why you did it?"Mother flipped her hair over her shoulders as she rolled her eyes at me. "Princess Mona seems to be dying to have a word with you. Keep her company, Landon. You’re a prince, s
DAISYI swallowed the lump in my throat as I tried to put on a brave face. There was no way I would let them know the truth. I could feel the eyes of almost everyone in the close radius, waiting for me to speak, so they could pounce on me."What makes you think that I’m that woman?" I scoffed. The lady stepped closer to me. "Well, there are a lot of things that proves that you’re the rejected omega. You’re visibly shaking, and you’re almost in tears. If that is not enough, you’re a werewolf and so much smaller than the Lycans. You match the description the queen had said. I believe that you’re that omega. It was Daisy, right?" She asked the princess easily.I clamped my hands together at once as I gave a slightly breathy laugh. "What are you saying?" I mocked. The two women gave me a look. I rolled my eyes in a bid to act as though they were all blabbing at this point. "I’m not that woman, please. I really think that you’re trying to insult me.""But..."I held my hands up, stopping t
