Rachel watched their exchange, and felt a bitter taste in her mouth.

But as she looked at Matthew and Linda, she realized that she was better off without them. She was Rachel Jones, the heiress to the largest company, Helix Corporation. She didn't need Matthew . She was done with him, and she was ready to move on.

Just then, Emily's phone rang, breaking the tense silence. She quickly picked up the call and was respectful as she listened to the caller. After listening to the caller, she disconnected the call.

"Who was that?" Matthew immediately asked with curiosity in his voice.

Emily cleared her throat, and was about to reply, when Linda's arrogant voice cut in. "Are you deaf? Can't you answer a simple question?" she asked angrily.

Emily swallowed her anger and apologized reluctantly, "I'm sorry, ma'am."

Linda snorted and said, "Good for you," before sitting back down at Matthew's leg.

"Sir, the call was from a representative from Helix Corporation," Emily said in a soft tone.

Rachel's ears perked up at the mention of the company name. She had almost forgotten that she had begged her father to collaborate with Matthew's company, but now she was regretting it. She leaned in, as she listened to their conversation.

When Matthew heard the news, his face lit up with excitement. "What did they say?" he asked eagerly.

"We will be notified by them tomorrow to come to their headquarters to sign the deal," Emily replied.

Matthew's eyes gleamed with greed as he exclaimed, "Good, very good!" Linda stared at him, her eyes flashing with excitement.

Rachel's mind was already racing with thoughts of what to do. "Thank God there's still time," she thought silently.

She knew that this deal would bring immense benefits to Matthew's company, and she was determined to stop it. But suddenly, she thought of something and smirked evilly.

Matthew and Linda exchanged a greedy glance, their faces twisted with excitement. "Filthy rich," Matthew whispered to Linda, making her giggle happily.

After their exchange, Matthew turned to Rachel and asked, "What are you still doing here?" His tone was cold and dismissive, and Rachel knew that she was no longer welcome.

Rachel stood up, her eyes locked on Matthew's. "I'm leaving," she said, her voice firm. "But I want you to know that I'm not going to let you get away with this."

Matthew raised an eyebrow with a confused look. "What are you talking about?" he asked.

Rachel smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "You will find out soon enough," she said, before turning and walking away.

As Rachel left the office, Emily watched her go with a mixture of sadness and admiration. Looking at Rachel, She knew that she was a strong woman, because she didn’t shed any tears or pull her opponent's hair, but she was just calm, which made her admire her the most.

Meanwhile, Matthew and Linda were too caught up in their own excitement to notice the danger that was about to happen.

They were too busy celebrating their imaginary wealth to realize that Rachel was not a woman to be underestimated or truffled with.

But Rachel was already planning her next move. She was determined to take down Matthew and his company, no matter what it took.

Emily, seeing that she was not needed, quietly left the office and closed the door before heading to her office.

When Rachel got out of the office, she noticed the look they were giving her, but she didn’t mind at all. She walked out confidently and saw the receptionist who waved goodbye at her.

She hailed a taxi and entered the car, before giving him the penthouse address. She decided not to waste her time on the scumbag anymore.

She sighed tiredly as she rested her head on the car chair. Today was a roller coaster for her and she was already weak. So she rested her head to gather more strength, because she was not ready to spend another day at the penthouse.

As the taxi drove through the city streets, Rachel couldn't help but think about what just happened.

She had just come back from the country, when she met Matthew at the airport.

She was not really interested in talking to him, but what drew her attention was the handkerchief in his hand.

She vividly remembered that she gave a boy her handkerchief when she was young and promised to marry him.

She was only five when that happened. She walked to him and initiated a conversation and that was how it happened.

A month after being friends, they got married. She could still remember the disappointed look on her father’s face when she told him that she was getting married to Matthew.

She had been so blind, so trusting, and Matthew had taken advantage of that. She felt hurt, but she pushed it aside. She didn't have time for emotions right now. She needed to focus on what to do next.

The taxi pulled up to the penthouse, and Rachel paid the driver before stepping out of the car.

She took a deep breath, and went straight to the penthouse.

She was going to pack her bags, gather her belongings, and get out of there. She was done with Matthew, done with the penthouse, and done with the lies.

When she entered the penthouse, Rachel gazed around at the luxurious space that had been her home for six months. A smirk played on her lips as she thought about how little the surroundings meant to her now.

She had no intention of taking any of the clothes that Matthew had bought for her, so she simply gathered her important belongings and stuffed them into her bag.

When she was done, Rachel pulled out her phone and dialed a number that was answered on the first ring. "Come and pick me up," she said, with a tired voice.

She disconnected the call and sat down on the couch, waiting for her ride to arrive.

A few minutes later, Rachel's phone buzzed with an incoming message. She stood up, grabbed her bag, and headed out of the penthouse. She made her way to the parking lot, where her driver was waiting for her.

"Good day, Miss," the driver said, taking Rachel's bag from her. Rachel nodded in response, her eyes fixed on the car, before she entered it and sat on the back seat.

The driver placed her bag beside her and closed the door. He then got into the driver's seat and started the engine. "Where to, Miss?" he asked, looking at Rachel in the rearview mirror.

Rachel's voice was weak as she said. "Take me home."

"Okay, Miss," the driver replied, pulling out of the parking lot and onto the road.

The driver noticed her downcast mood, so he asked. "Would you like some music, Miss?"

Rachel shook her head, her eyes fixed on the passing scenery. "No, thank you," she said. "I just need some quiet."

The driver nodded and focused on the road, leaving Rachel to her thoughts. As the car drove on, Rachel felt exhausted, so she closed her eyes for a quick nap.

Shortly after, she opened her eyes and looked at the quiet place and smiled. Her family house was located in a quiet district as her father loves the peaceful environment.

She stared at the giant gate of her house and smiled, feeling a sense of relief. She was finally home.

When they entered, the driver had to drive for another twenty minutes.

Rachel watched as the trees and gardens passed by, and felt peace.

Finally, the mansion came into view, its grandeur and beauty a testament to her family's wealth and status.

The driver skillfully parked the car, and Rachel nodded at him in appreciation before stepping out of the vehicle. She took her bag and headed inside the mansion.

As she approached the living room, she heard the sound of laughter and conversation. "Looks like there's a visitor," she said to herself, sighing inwardly as she pushed open the door to the living room.

Mr. Jones, who had been chatting and laughing with his friend, Mr. Davis, and his son Harris, paused mid-sentence as he caught sight of his daughter standing in the doorway.

Rachel's eyes were brimming with tears, and her face was filled with sadness.

Mr. Davis and Harris exchanged a confused glance, when they noticed that Mr Jones was silent. Unsure of what was happening, they quickly turned their heads and immediately guessed why he kept quiet.

"Dad," Rachel said, her voice trembling as she took a step forward. She has been acting strong for a while now, but her façade immediately crumbled when she saw her father.

She quickly closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly.

So why now? This time around, the knocking got louder which made him irritated and impatient.“Argh! Can’t a man rot in peace?” he growled and sat up slowly, as he rubbed his face with both hands.
