Ariana’s POV“Good morning, contestants! I hope you all rested well last night, those that are still alive I mean. Every morning, a crow will fly above the remaining contestants alive and deliver a note which will show you the contestants that remain. This will hinder the possibility of any contestant concealing themselves. You must also accumulate points while you try to stay alive, you can’t win alone with just making it to the last day. Each contestant is worth five points and killing them will grant you five points. If a contestant has killed four people they have accumulated twenty points and if you kill them, you have twenty points. Isn’t that exciting? Well I must now leave you contestants to begin hunting for the day. Good luck!”I stood, gripping my knife tightly as I heard the broadcast by the commentator. There was something truly sadistic about this although it was a competition but still. Roman was unfailingly right, this really was a dystopian shit show. They wanted us t
Damon’s POVI leaned on a tree nearby, eating an apple, watching the deceptive werewolf try to kill Ariana.Without interfering, I watched her push Ariana to the ground, a blade in her hand ready to strike and a victorious crooked smile on her chapped lips.I chewed on the apple with enthusiasm.Within a second, Ariana grabbed the woman’s hair, head-butting her with full force before swiftly grabbing the knife, wrapping her hands on her neck and pushing her to the ground.I smiled. Talk about a total one eighty. The werewolf, distraught, began shaking.“As your punishment you will die by your own blade.” Her eyes were glazing with fury. One of the hottest scenes I ever witnessed.Ariana raised the blade higher, aiming to strike.“Wait, wait, wait! I’m sorry, please don’t—” Before she could complete her sentence, Ariana had already punctured her chest with the blade. In seconds the werewolf disappeared. I chuckled, walking up to her. Startled she quickly stood, turning, her stance read
Damon’s POVWe’d been walking forward for a total of four hours.During that time Ariana chose not to speak to me, willfully ignoring me even though she’d turn around occasionally.Something was awfully wrong with me or else why did I find most of her behavior unbelievable cute? Thinking back to how I easily ruffled her feathers was causing me to laugh.“What’s funny?” She asked, a little spiteful.“You.” I answered. She stopped suddenly, turning towards me, her emotions high. “Can you not do that?” Her tone was raised.“Do what?”She pointed her fingers at my chest, “Whatever it is you’re doing and don’t play dumb now, you weak merchant.”“A weak man can’t even enjoy himself anymore?”She looked like she was about to take me out the competition.“You’re pathetic.” She spat, walking forward, stomping. She resembled a toddler that was refused ice cream. Now, she was muttering things to herself, rambling actually and again I found it extremely cute.“I cannot believe I thought he’d be g
Ariana’s POVI was done cleaning myself and getting dressed, expecting to see that nuisance behind me but he wasn’t there. It was odd because I didn’t even notice when he left.“What an odd individual.” I muttered. This place truly was beautiful, with even presence of flowers, especially lilies which I favored. After strolling for a few minutes I found him, seated, leaning on a tree, looking across the sky as sunset approached. His blonde hair was no longer in a ponytail and it danced above his shoulders. Secretly I had been a big fan of his hair, how long they were, stopping across his upper back.My feet stepped on a branch as I approached him causing him to turn. I halted, eyes widening in surprise. His rubies were now pitch black, with no trace of white, black lines tracing underneath his eyes.I blinked rapidly in shock and they were gone.“What?” Did I just see things now?“Are you that in love with me?”I blinked again, “What?”“You’ve been staring since you came.”I scoffed, “
Jasper’s POVThe she-wolf dashed towards the woods recklessly, in an attempt to hide from me. I laughed, walking after her.Her left knee was already too wounded to make it far. Realizing that she couldn’t run, she walked, limping.Soon, she tripped on a branch falling, still not giving up trying to push her way up from the ground. My high was gone and now I was upset.Who allowed such weak things to even dare enter this competition? Despicable.Once I was close enough I grabbed her by the hair, pulling her, her screams echoing through the whole place. I dragged her behind me. She kicked endlessly to no avail.Once we were at an open space I flung her aside. Through the corner of my eyes I watched her try to get up, reaching a blade inside her pocket. In annoyance I stomped on her face, irritated. My anger brew more and I continued, kicking her in her chest and on her wounded leg.“You think fighting will keep you alive?” I laughed, rather maniacally, bending over. “Do you think you c
Ariana’s POVI had completely stilled in Damon’s arms, forgetting myself. For a brief moment, I forgot reality and the panic that coursed through me a few minutes ago was gone and forgotten.“Do you feel better now?” His voice was sweet, soft even.“I… I…” I pushed him away, looking down. “We should resume talking about the battle plans.” I couldn’t look up at him, I knew I was red all over.He raised my chin to meet his gaze, smiling tenderly at him, “I’m glad you’re feeling better now.”Quickly I removed my face, stepping back. “S… Stop, we should… yeah… we should keep talking about the more pressing issue.” God I felt like a fool, I could tell I was panicking a lot and potentially humiliating myself.“You’re right, so what do you think we should do?”I began thinking, pacing around, “Since we know that the person or persons doing these killings is not stopping, I wouldn’t suggest waiting here and I’d like to wander about and find out what the ‘heated battle’ was about yesterday. We
Ariana’s POVThere’s was a gnawing desperation that seized me when we neared the top of the hill.Avoiding the monsters became harder. In total, there were eight of them, and even those that fell, kept standing, running after us. I knew if this kept up I’d be out of breath soon but I knew this wasn’t the time to give up.As we reached the steepest slope, something grabbed my foot, pulling me down, harshly. I screamed, turning, seeing I’d been grabbed my one of the monsters.I kicked furiously, fear gripping my entire body.If I went back down this hill I’d be mauled, instantly.Someone held my hand, kicking the monster on the skull. The sound of his skull cracking froze me. The monster fell to the ground, tumbling down and I knew it was dead. On seeing their dead comrade, the monsters slowed down before stopping, hesitating.I turned, seeing Damon, his rubies illuminating a golden hue.It reminded of the day Jasper and I went looking for Lorna, something that totally escaped my mind.
Ariana’s POVJasper smiled at me, “I guess I have to prepare myself then. Duty calls.”I smiled back in return, Jasper’s unflinching loyalty to the Kingdom never ceasing to uplift me regardless of his past actions. Regardless of where we were now I believe we could smoothen our issues amicably and one day I’d be able to forgive him, completely letting us go, fighting for this Kingdom.“Do you have water?” He asked, “This place is next to being a desert.”“Yeah, I do,” I turned my back to him, reaching for my supplies, “Let me—”There was a sudden sharp sensation on my leg, causing me to turn in haste. A drop of blood trickled down and I knew I was injected or stung with something. Suddenly breathing heavily I looked up to Jasper,“What did you just—”An overwhelming sensation of nausea followed by dizziness caused me to fall, my breathing labored. He stood, looking down at me.What did you…do to me?” My heart rate had exceeded the normal and it seemed like I’d get a heart attack soon.
