The fire, the rogue and the mate. It was something I could not avoid since I had lost her. Pauline. No matter how much I had hated her for choosing the Alpha over me but I could not stop myself loving her. Even in the last moment, she asked for forgiveness and wanted my happiness. Why did the moon goddess have to be cruel? She took my mate. She died saving the Luna. Although, she died and considered the death as the result of her ill doings but she was still my mate. I miss her everyday and it was driving me crazy. I left the pack because I couldn't tolerate seeing other couples growing in front of me. My luck for mate bond was sick since the beginning.
The faint noises lingered around my ears and I could interpret the rush near my surroundings. My body was weak and I could feel the heaviness in my legs. My eyes were shut but most of the commotion coming from the outside told me that I was in a place where a lot of gathering was happening. Could it be a hospital or school or anything where a crowd has accumulated.
My head was aching and suddenly, It recalled in my mind that I killed rogues to show my power to the Alpha of a pack whose name I wasn't familiar with. Soon, I opened my eyes but the lights around me blinded me for a second. Slowly, but I was able to absorb the light and saw that I was on a bed inside a small room. My guess was correct, it was a hospital, probably an infirmary. I got up and looked around and found myself alone in the room but there was heavy commotion outside the room. Leaving the bed in hassle, I ran to the door and opened it to leave the place.
This entire place was giving me certain off vibes. Most of the patients were injured wolves but none of them were familiar to me. The wolves in the arena were dead and there was hardly a possibility of any one being alive. My heart was thumping and I wanted to escape but when I took a turn, my gaze met the Sergeant's eyes. What was he doing here?
"Rogue!!! I am impressed that you recovered faster than an ordinary werewolf." He commented while taking his steps towards me.
Now that I was stuck in the situation, neither I could retaliate nor agree to accept it. Whatever he had in his kind will be pukish for my instance. Should I ignore that warning and escape or should I stay and let the darkness engulf me? Why does this have to be heavy?
"I am talking to you." His desperate attention brought me back to reality where I was still in a fickle situation. Could it get any worse?
"I believe to hear something positive that can bring me back to life where I live with a purpose to live." I snapped at him but in a polite way.
Not looking rude, there was this plastic smile on his face which indicates a devil inside his angelic smile. I have seen the history and wouldn't let it happen again. He was smart and observant when I stood a few metres away from him. In the beginning, he decoded the future in just a glance. It made me wonder what he was hiding under that heart.
"There is positive news for you, you won the match three days ago. And just as what we promised to deliver, I am here to take you with me to the conference room, where we will discuss your mission and your monetary benefits.
Three days ago!!! I have been unconscious for three days?
"I know you still have many doubts running in your mind but I am sure that Alpha Raymond will clear them for you. Hopefully…" His distant eyes were fixed on me and his hands gestured to me to follow him.
Not even a sweat he broke, He made me follow him to the pack house where the Alpha Raymond stayed. His name, Raymond, sounded familiar to me but where? I used to keep track of many Alphas when I was the beta, but there were a few Alphas who were banned and forced to stay in their boundaries for unknown reasons. Could it be that he was one of them?
The restless thoughts weren't stopping when my gaze observed the place in glorious daylight. The entire house pack wasn't any house but a freaking castle with thousands of soldiers guarding all the entrances. The castle looked like it was built somewhere in the Victorian Era but maybe the appearances could be deceiving.
Soon, we entered the office of the Alpha after taking multiple turns to the left and to the right. However, I kept my guards on and keenly observed the exit. It might be helpful one day as this entire place was giving off vibes.
"Ah… Oliver!! I have been waiting for a while." Said the Alpha, his eyes landed on the sergeant and then on me.
"Our friend just woke up from his rest sleep." Sergeant Oliver commented.
The office was a huge hall but there were no Beta or Delta with the Alpha. It was strange. Was he really an Alpha?
"So, our friend? Did you like the place? I hope Oliver has given you a tour to your new home." There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
New home? What does he mean?
"What about the mission?" I asked straightforwardly as I couldn't stand his aura around me.
"Relax!! What's the rush? We haven't introduced ourselves yet." The sergeant spoke and stood in front of me, "take a seat,..."
"Lance!! It's my name." I introduced myself first.
"I am Oliver White and here is your Alpha Raymond of the west."
Raymond of the west! Now I know who he was. The banned Alpha. He was cruel and ruthless, there was a reason why he was boycotted from the werewolf's community.
"I know him…" that was a flat response which startled Raymond on his chair.
"Really? But I never heard of you Lance." His small ass got burned.
"I was a rogue… how would you have known me? By the way, I have no issue with your status, Alpha Raymond. Let's come to the point. What is the mission and what do I have to do?" I wasn't here to play games.
He looked blankly at me and responded, "the mission is to bring a special werewolf to me."
"Just that? I thought it would be dangerous and deadly like your previous actions." I stared him in the eye.
"Challenging your Alpha?" He gritted his teeth.
"No… and you're not my Alpha. Not until I get any position in your pack." Well, I know how to handle such bastards.
"This mission is dangerous, Lance. The werewolf we want is no ordinary werewolf but a magical one. In every one hundred and twenty five years, one special werewolf is born. Not only do they get their powers once they turn eighteen or have first shift, but they are only the descendants of only one werewolf ancestry. The Brooks… and we suspect that the Alpha of crystal moon pack, Alpha Damien Brooks first child is supposedly that special werewolf." Oliver explained the historical facts of the missions.
"I have to bring her here. I will do it…" I claimed immediately.
"That child will turn eighteen this week, you have to bring it once it has their shift and gain her powers." Said Alpha Raymond.
"Understood."
"Remember, you cannot afford to make my mistake. This werewolf has incredible powers and Alpha Damien will do everything to protect his child." The Alpha was serious about this werewolf.
Not sure what was his reason or motive to bring that child here but I have to complete this mission to live a purposeful life.
"When do I have to begin?" I asked him.
"From now on…"
I wake up on the bed, drenched in all sweat, in the middle of the night and startled to see unknown surroundings. I gasp in fear and panic rose to my throat. I get up from the bed and rushes to the door to open it and escape from that place immediately. As I run barefoot through the corridors, but only to find out that I was in the infirmary, as I recall the place. I feel air passing into my lungs as I breathe in relief, but it confuses me to the core reasoning why I was in infirmary.Suddenly, I hear random and loud footsteps approaching me and I become alert and turn to look toward the footsteps. I notice a few of the healers and Daphne approaching me. My vision blurs and I feel my throat getting dry with every breath I take. My chest burns and I cough frequently. Something is not right? Why the hell I get in here? As I remember last night, I was partying with Lucian and others. The healer approaches me and helps me to breathe properly, “your majesty! Please come inside. You are wea
Orfilia's pov Once the celebration was over, I went straight to my room and called Lance because We both need to talk about this major decision I was about to take. He observed the anxiety and palpitations so he didn't let it get over and followed me to the room. When we reached, he put my hands in his and pulled me closer. Before I knew, he already had his lips on mine and we both moved in synchronisation. I didn't wanted to interrupt either so I moved with the flow and we both land on the bed, undressed each other and made love to each other. It was the best sex and he made me realise that what a worthy mate he was. I wished I could stay like that but I was lacking time since the noon was over and soon the sun will hide under the sky. "So, what are you thinking now?" Lance asked me. "I am thinking about you, us." I stated. "No! I mean, for future." He added. "Yeah! That's why I called you. I know I might sound childish but I don't want to stay here." I looked with a puppy face
Orfilia's pov The moment I had put the crown on Ivory's head, The crowd in the stadium went berserk. They applauded loudly and nothing seemed better than that, but, When my eyes met with Alpha Damien's, he was sad and upset about my decision. I would take long to make him understand that i never wanted to be the Alpha of this pack. Maybe, if things from the starting were different, I could be the Alpha but my spirit seek something meaningful and adventure. Lady Nymeria would be waiting for me and I had to leave this pack today. "But why? If I wanted to make her an Alpha, I would have asked her." Damien slammed his palms on the glass table, cracking it from the middle. We were in his study and the atmosphere was high and dramatic. "Why not? She is your daughter too and you said you wanted to see your daughter leading this pack, so what makes a difference if It's her, not me!" I stated while looking at him. "She is not you!!" He gritted his teeth. "Still makes no sense to me. If
Orfilia's pov After getting an approval from Alpha Damien, I was sure that I would bring the worthy candidate to be an Alpha of the pack. However, the time limit was short but atleast, I knew what I had to do. When I left the room, I bumped into Ivory and behind her were her daughters in the baby cart. She smiled widely at me. "Orfilia! You seem to be in a hurry. I know you have a coronation today but can you spare a moment for me." She made a request. "Of course, is everything alright?" I got worried when she called me to stay for a while. Even when I had limited time to find a worthy candidate, I couldn't deny her request. She escorted me out from the pack house while her daughters were taken to Alpha Damien's room. I wondered if Ivory was fine because I could read from her face that she wasn't feeling good. Her face was glowing under the warmth of the sun. "You haven't answered me." I asked her. "Yeah! I was occupied with thoughts. I have been awake the entire night. No matt
The night passed with tension lingering within the pack which was under the fog and the mist while they were playing like small children. The moon was bright and confident, however, the appearances might be deceiving. Even if the security had been increased around the boundaries and inside the pack, I was still anxious and palpating under the edge of a knife. I couldn’t sleep with peace as it kept me agitated all night long. The thoughts of becoming the Alpha of this pack was shaking me up. I did agree to Alpha Damien's demand only because I cannot make him feel depressed due to his conditions but this 'Becoming an Alpha' thought was keeping me at bay. I was alone in my room when I heard a knock and saw Lance entering. A smile flashed on his face and I gave him a slight smile too. "What's wrong? You seem worried." He spotted. "I am in a dilemma." I started with a low tone. "What dilemma? Is everything alright? I know that Alpha Damien had talked to you about something serious and e
With the morning dew glory at dawn and wet paws ahead of time, We saw the restricted boundaries of the Crystal moon pack in front of us. I breathed silently and felt secure to see my home, again but this feeling that I couldn't shrug off was eating me up. Since I had heard the news of Alpha Damien's fight for his life, I began believing in keeping the relationships at priority over anything else. I was his biological daughter but I never looked upon him as a father, although he was a father figure to me but he was not my dad. The man beside me raised me was the one I would call my dad. We shifted back into our human form and proceeded to enter the pack's territory. The guards bowed to us and Beta Male interacted with them to gather some information. He informed us that Alpha Damien's health had deteriorated since they had left looking for me. It broke my heart a little but Ivory was shattered. She was going to lose her last family member. "We shouldn't wait anymore." I nodded my
