Ch 02 : Weird Eyed Girl

"Mom, they say my eyes are weird." The thirteen year old little girl sulked at her mother. She did not accept because she was always ridiculed by her friends in her village.

The mother could only smile as her hands picked fruit in the garden.

"What a strange thing. Aren't my eyes unique, huh." The fruit that her mother had picked in the basket, occasionally eaten by her.

"Your eyes are unique, Rena. Because you have eyes like your grandmother. Asian mother. You already know, right?” Rena's mother walked to look for ripe grapes, her hands painstakingly cutting the stems of the fruit. Rena who saw her mother took the scissors in the basket and tried to help.

“Take the purple one. Leave the green ones.” The instructions were immediately obeyed by Rena without any rebuttal.

"But Ben's eyes are not like mine, Mom?" It turns out that this problem still persists.

Yura who saw her daughter's back couldn't help but sigh. The little girl with double braided black hair covered in a rattan hat always had a problem with her eyes, even though not everyone can have eyes like that. But many are insulting and even mocking as proof that he is not normal. Shouldn't that be a gift in itself?

"Enjoy what you've been given, Honey. Thank God we can still live without any flaws.”

Little Rena could only mumble. The ego that had always been inside her was disturbed again. Her friends at school and at home always insulted her, some said her eyes were weird, some said she was a vampire because her skin was pale. She's not a vampire but were... oops! Rena smacked her mouth in exasperation. Her parents had warned her not to let the identity of the family be known.

They prefer to live in villages and stay away from all kinds of groups—packs—and mingle with humans. As her mother used to say, humans were much more fun than a group of werewolves.

"Mom, daddy and Ben aren't home yet?" Her hand held her mother's clothes until she reached the yard.

"I don't think so, maybe the wood hasn't collected much.

“Would you like to come with me to Uncle Gill's house to sell grapes?” Her mother brought a cart filled with grapes that had been harvested since yesterday.

Rena who was giving her favorite pet food with a leaf shook her head. "I want to take care of my Didi first, Mom." The long-eared beast just kept on chewing what Rena offered her.

"Then you wait here Rena. Don't go to the river, it's dangerous!"

"You've told me a thousand times, in case you forgot." Rena carried the white furry animal. In fact, she really wanted to take a bath on the river bank, moreover her brother Ben always invited her even though it was just an empty offer.

Rena looked ahead to see the flow of the Rhine which was quite far from her yard. The longest river that crosses several European countries.

"Rena!" Girls of the same age approached Rena and crouched down to give Didi a leaf. "Have you done your homework?"

Rena took off her rattan hat and put it on the grassy ground. Put Didi in her cage and close it tightly. "Come on, please, I'm smart." A grin that made her eyes look just a line made Harriet frown.

“Can you teach me, Ren?” Harriet begged for pity while rocking Rena's body who was already sitting on the long bench.

Rena who heard her friend's request thought by tapping her chin. "But there are conditions, how?"

Harriet who was also sitting on the bench nodded in agreement. Anything will be fulfilled as long as the annoying teacher doesn't scold her.

"Still be my friend Harry." Rena raised her eyebrows. Making Harriet stare in disbelief, was it that easy?

"I'm your friend after all." Harriet remembers that not all her peers are willing to accept Rena. Harriet held Rena's hand and said "I will always be your friend forever." And Rena took that as a promise to the death.

On Monday morning. Who loves Mondays? Where everyone is required to start activities. Rena scowled in annoyance as she ate the bread that was already served on the plate.

"Ben, I'll go with Harriet later, okay?” Rena pleaded.

"Why don't you want to be with me?" Ben added chocolate jam to his bread.

“I just wanted to talk to Harriet. Yes talk to her.”

"Okay."

Without waiting any longer, she immediately said goodbye to Mom and Dad and took her backpack.

"You know, Ren. Brandon yesterday said he loved Ursula." Rena who heard the story from Harriet stopped her steps and was shocked.

"How could that be!? Brandon is the same age as my brother and Ursula is our age. They were far apart imagine Harry, five years. Brandon is such a pedophile, huh.” Rena couldn't understand how her brother's friend could love a girl who was far below him age. They are little teenagers who are about to grow up but they still feel weird.

"Name is love, Rena. Let them make love at a young age." Yes Harriet is a melancholy human. Rena agreed to that.

‘Don't let my mate age who is far above me.’ Rena shuddered at the memory of it all.

“Hey, weird eyes. You should have had an operation that made your eyes look like normal humans.” Elisha laughed happily greeted the other friends.

Rena, who saw and heard that, just rolled her eyes in disgust and turned the book she was still reading even though she wasn't focused.

"Don't you have the money to do the surgery?" Elisha twirled her wavy blonde hair. Actually she was embarrassed if she had to be like this, but if she got angry she was afraid that she could not be controlled.

“Elisha the Drama Queen, could you please be quiet for a moment. My ears hurt to hear your nagging mouth from a long time ago. After all, the operation should be you, seeing as you can never memorize lessons properly."

Decisive.

Screams of screams, whistles and insults from classmates made Elisha silent. She could not understand that Rena could embarrass herself in an instant. With emotion and blushing, Elisha walked out of the classroom accompanied by two maids—eh, her friends.

Rena smiled faintly as she remembered the incident, an incident she would never forget in her life. The childhood that made her seem selfish because her words didn't mean to offend Elisha in the slightest. After that incident Elisha never wanted to talk again and even mocked her, but not the other friends. They still mocked her. Irritating.

She should have apologized to Elisha at that time and made a good friendship. But after remembering that Elisha was the number one person who always insulted her, he had never made an apology until now.

Rena sighed, the good memories are not where everyone still wants to play with her but in a different way.

"Luna."

"Come here!" Luna Irene brought Rena to sit on the sofa and opened the pink package.

There was a beautiful white dress decorated with a ribbon around her waist. Making Rena look amazed by the scene in front of her. "It's so beautiful, Luna." She couldn't hold it in her eyes and just looked like she didn't want the dress to get dirty because of it.

"You like it?" Luna Irene was happy to see Rena's reaction. Rena nodded without taking her eyes off.

"Then this is for you." Luna Irene put the dress into a paper bag and gave it to Rena. Rena who saw the paper bag just shook her head and didn't accept it. How could her Luna give her such a luxurious dress.

"Take it, Rena. This is an order!” Firm. It was the first time Luna Irene spoke to her like that, making Rena gasp and hands trembled.

"Wear this dress tonight, it will be my wedding anniversary. You already know that right?!” Without accepting Rena's rejection, she stood up and walked proudly leaving Rena still staring at the shirt blankly.

Irene wasn't angry with her, she just didn't want to see Rena, who was always closed and cornered herself. She always watched the girl, the girl she loved like her own child. If only Jonathan allowed Rena to be fostered as an adopted child, we can be sure that Rena would always be happy.

The moment where Rena came into her pack area and caused an uproar throughout the palace because a rogue was allowed to live in it. But it was an absolute order from Jonathan and Christopher agreed. If indeed Rena does not want to be killed she must become a servant for this palace.

"But she's a kid, Jo." Irene sobbed seeing Rena's tattered clothes which were very unfit to wear.

“Yes or no, Irene!” How can a small child make himself and his wife fight.

Irene held Rena's shoulder looking at her empty eyes as if she was ready to be executed at any moment.

"We don't know what she will do one day, considering she is a rogue." Jonathan is always thoughtful. He didn't want any trouble in his area.

“I could tell she was a good girl, Jo. You can feel it too, right, Honey." Irene was already crying, she couldn't believe that if her husband would make Rena a servant at a young age, Rena should have received an education.

Jonathan sighed tiredly, as an Alpha was assigned to guard his property from all kinds of harm. But when viewed from the side of his parents he could not have the heart to let Rena become a maid at a young age. “Let her learn like any other maid girl. Tell Morin not to be so hard on Rena the reason is because she is still a child. You can monitor it from afar Irene. And also don't show the injustice between Rena and the others."

"When she grows up make her a personal maid for the Nickolas." Without receiving any rebuttal from his wife, he left Irene who was hugging Rena's body.

Irene couldn't argue anymore, Jonathan's orders were fair to Rena.
