Chapter 28: Battle for the Alpha seat.In ancient times, before the war that happened ten years ago, the Battle of Alphas happened frequently. It is a fight between the already acknowledged Alpha of a pack and any other Alpha who wants to snatch the pack. Among wolves, strength is everything. Therefore, no powerful Alpha wolf will willingly submit to a weaker wolf. Because of this, the Alpha of a wolf pack is usually the most powerful wolf of that pack. And due to the nature of this battle, it is typically a fight to the death. Because of the effect of the civil war that happened after the continental war, 10, 000 years ago, the werewolf clans became weak due to the massive deaths. The Supreme Alphas who rose to intervene and stopped the civil war, therefore, adopted the political ways of humans. Instead of Alpha wolves just randomly fighting for power, — an act that often ends up with devastating infighting within the ruling families of a pack, — a careful selection of Pack Alphas
Chapter 29: Sold? When they got to the cave, they headed for the same tunnel that Megan and Ryan used for their escape and made it to the forest in record time. They continually traveled for three days. The storm was thinning out by then, and they had it easier than Ryan and Megan. When they got to Lua, Alaric was met by his friend in the lustrous town; Conri. Conri was a boorish Alpha wolf from another pack. He ran a chain of hotels and restaurants in Lua, Zoman and Baril. It was said that his family also has some establishments in the human realm. He and Alaric had known each other for a very long time and any time Alaric was in town, he would stay at any of Conri's hotels. Oliver and the boys were also no stranger to Conri, thanks to their grandfather's ties with him. Wherever Oliver or the boys travel to, as long as Conri's hotel or inn was found there, they would always stay at that hotel. When they arrived, Conri spared no effort in getting them comfortable and well settled.
Chapter 30 : Battle!Instantly, two men climbed the stage carrying a ballot box with several sticks. Each stick had a number on it from one to fourteen. Once they placed it in the center stage at the forefront of the stage, they quickly left. “All participants will walk over to the box and pick a stick. Whatever number you pick will determine the day you will fight…” The kingmaker continued. “The number you pick will be your identity throughout the tournament. The only Wolf that will be acknowledged at the end of this tournament will be the wolf that wins. You may draw your lot.”Every fighter stood up and hurried over to the ballot box. Even though none of them had seen Cal's wolf, they still didn't want to be the first to fight. Therefore, they all rushed to the left of the ballot and started struggling for the last four sticks. There was a good reason for this. Since the battle would happen for seven days, with two fights daily, it meant that Cal had no choice but to fight every
Chapter 31: I will give you a quick death!Evening time, Cal Rough was in his room when one of the servants assigned to him knocked on the door. “Sir, the council of elders is here to see you.” The servant called out from outside the door since Cal didn't ask him to come in. Oh! Call raised his brows in amusement. Considering their attitude since his arrival, he thought they had the gut to keep fighting, but he was mistaken. Cal smirked, dropped the cigar in his hand in an ashtray and went to open the door. “Where are they?” He stared down at the not so calm servant. “You said I shouldn't let anyone into the courtyard. So they are outside the gate.” The terrified servant replied. Despite the large number of wolves ready to do menial jobs, he was the only one the council had assigned to Cal's courtyard. The Kingmakers were just two, and they were assigned four servants. Even the new Shaman was given the control of the three servants who were attending to the previous Shaman. Con
Chapter 32; Bernard's schemes. Plus the three days of travel, Alaric, and his boys, ate nothing for five days. They were weak and dejected. Oliver tried to talk to everyone, but none of them paid him mind. The cave was cold, smelled like rotten eggs at certain times of the night, and countless bugs to keep them company. Because of the wolfs bane in their blood, they couldn't protect themselves from the bugs. This led to them spending the nights wide awake, warding off bugs, all night long. Therefore, they were all trying to catch up on sleep and conserve energy during the day. On the evening of their second day in the cell, they heard footsteps approaching. And even then, Nobody moved to check who it was. After all, the masked men guarding them always walk around intermittently, checking on their inmates. Alaric was seated against the wall of his cell with his eyes closed when one of the masked men started banging on his cell's iron bar. He knew the man thought he was sleeping and
Chapter 33 Kurt's ArrivalDeeply troubled, Bernard returned to the pack ground in a gloomy mood. After several days of trying to get news about Lucas, he was beginning to fear the worst. He believed that Lucas was captured by Kurt and Cal was sent to replace him. To add to his worries, he wasn't able to contact the old Shaman or Elvira's father either. He had asked Ashley, his daughter, to keep contacting Elvira, but it seemed she too had gone offline. This made him to keep feeling like something terrible would soon happen within the pack. Convinced that Kurt will soon appear in Blue-Mist and act on the rest of Lucas' team, Bernard decided to make a deal with Alaric. If Alaric could hand over his granddaughter, he would let Alaric and the rest of his family leave. If he could do that, when Kurt arrives, he would at least have something to show for his loyalty. He didn't believe that Kurt would capture him like he did to Lucas, since he was just Lucas' Gamma. A position he had gained
Chapter 34 Bernard's fate.“Continue.” Kurt said to the Kingmakers in a deep voice. “My Prince, as I was saying, we have already concluded the battle of the Alphas. We are just awaiting some key elders of the house of Hank. Once they get here in a couple of days, we will conduct the seat ascension.”“I see.” Kurt nodded. “In that case, elder Cal of the house of Hank, I challenge you in a battle of Alphas for the seat of Blue-Mist pack!” Kurt casually proclaimed. His voice was low, raspy, and deep, but each word sounded like a clap of thunder in Cal's ears. Prince Kurt, a royal blood like himself, had challenged him for his seat. A seat he righteously won. But instead of being arrogant or angry, Cal crashed to his knees and hit his head on the ground. “My Prince!” He yelled with a terror filled voice. “ I dare not accept this challenge. I forfeit the seat!” The Kingmakers were shocked. What was this? Noticing their shaken expressions, Adolph snorted. “Are you against this, Kingma
Chapter 35: Bernard's fate 2“I smell rotten flesh.” Adolph was still standing beside the Williams. He lifted his nose in the air and started sniffing. After a bit, he brought his nose down and started sniffing the Williams, one after the other until he got to Scott. Without saying a word, he bent down and checked Scott's legs. They were encased in wood planks tied together with strong, tiny ropes. “Who did this?” Adolph asked in annoyance.“I…j…just wanted to help the Prince interrogate them, but elder Alaric refused to yield, regardless of what I said or did. That is why his legs became like that.” Bernard stuttered through his explanation. “So you broke my brother-in-law's legs.” Kurt nodded with a sarcastic laugh. He started rattling his fingers on the table at a rhythmic pace.“Did I not warn you all that nothing should happen to them all?” Adolph asked, leaving Bernard and the rest confused and frustrated. When Kurt chose Megan as his future Luna, all he said was that Megan
Chapter 75: Ascension!Gradually, the two tubes opened up and started moving towards each other. They then joined together to form a cage. KuLaa and Fie looked at each other. In Fie's eyes, she could see hatred and hunger. They mirrored her own feelings and thoughts. This was when she realized the reason why they were left in that yellow water for so long. Their magical energy was sapped away by that water. KuLaa felt very weak. The only way to devour another was to drain their blood and eat their heart. How was she going to do that when she was this weak?"You!" Fie softly called out with a weak and raspy voice. It felt like pain. Unbothered, KuLaa turned to the several elders watching from outside. They had promised to let her devour the girl but now they want her to fight?Understanding the look, Bella's father stepped forward and said, "She is too weak. Just kill her."KuLaa nodded and approached Fie' She expected Fie to retreat or even attack but the girl just stood there,
Chapter 74; A gift for my brother!Just a few hours before dawn, Megan was still by her bedside. She had waited all day and night for the kids to wake up but they were still in deep sleep. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion and the ground started shaking. Shocked, Megan stood up and looked out through the window. The whole island was shaking and water was invading it. In the past, no matter how high the tide was, the water surrounding KuLaa island would always land on the invisible seal as if it was landing on air, before going back into the sea. Water has never invaded KuLaa island before. The seal has been broken. What sort of storm is this? Megan wondered. She looked at her kids who were still sleeping and was confused for a moment. What should I do? Just then, the door opened and Bella stepped inside. "Megan, we need to leave now," Bella screamed in panic." What is going on?" Megan asked. "I don't know. The Seal got broken. I think it's because Alice wasn't guarding i
Chapter 73: A Stranger In a Black CloakKurt finally calmed down and KuLaa removed the net from him. She held him in her hands and quietly made him go to sleep as the Baril police arrived and encircled her. The leading commander wanted to approach her but Jum stopped him."Stand down. I will handle this.""Yes, sir." The commander went back and Jum stood there, watching KuLaa as she took care of Kurt. Lao and Peruh walked over to him. "What's going on?" Peruh asked with a puzzled look. "Don't you think it's beautiful, yet pitiful? Look at what love reduced such a powerful witch to." Jum chuckled."Kurt is no easy fry either. And even more dangerous than you in his berserk mode. That was why I activated the net. I couldn't handle him alone." Lao pointed out. There was respect in his voice which annoyed Jum."Are you saying his berserk is more powerful than mine?" "Yes. We wouldn't have been able to handle them on our own if they had joined forces from the beginning."Peruh didn'
Chapter 72; Chaos on the street of Baril. It reached right into her soul, caressing it and trying to make her relax. Instantly realizing that she was being coaxed, KuLaa repelled the spell and glared at Jum."What do you think you are doing?" She groaned. "Not bad." Jum smiled and walked into the room proper. "My name is Jum and these are my friends, Lao and Peruh. We are from the house of Zote."KuLaa looked them over and her eyes blazed. She has not seen such arrogance in a long time. "I have never had dealings with anyone from the house of Zote. Why did you target my family?""You are wrong, Lord KuLaa of the house of Viedanise!" Jum smiled at her but KuLaa had already sensed the uncertainty in his tone.So he isn't sure of my identity. "What is the house of Viedanise?" She feigned confusion. Jum gave her a look over and his ever-present smile widened. Was he wrong? She didn't know?"The House of Viedanise is one of the five magical families of Eplica. And you, Lord KuLaa,
Chapter 71; Nobody Says 'No' to Jum!Once KuLaa left the room, Kurt brought out his phone. Since lines could only connect when they were in the same realm, finding out if his father was involved was very simple. Kurt turned on the phone and torrents of messages started dropping. And all of them were from his father. The only reason this would happen was because his father was also in Baril, just as KuLaa suspected. Why? Kurt's eyes darkened. Mulan hardly left Silver Crest in the past 50 years. Why now? Could KuLaa's suspicions be right? If Mulan was really in cohort with the house of Zote, then does that mean he was also just a lab rat for their experiments? He remembered all the failed experiments Adolph carried out on him. From trying to hitch magic into his bones, to having his beating heart separated from his body and kept in refined heartbloods gotten from other witches and wizards. He has lost count of how many times one organ or the other was removed or had half of a forei
Chapter 70; Walking into a Trap?Just like KuLaa expected, two days after her arrival, four dead bodies were found just a few blocks away from a brothel within the black market area of Baril. They were the members of the missing cell. When they were brought in for KuLaa's inspection, it was as if they were just sleeping and not dead. The moment she saw them, she knew this was the work of a powerful magician. The person had subjected them to vicious torture but the only telling tale was their darkened underfoot. They were so black and hard that a butcher's knife wouldn't be able to cut through without some effort. There was nothing on their bodies but when KuLaa checked their brains, she found three of them liquified while there was a message left in the skull of the cell leader. Whoever took Oliver wanted Ryan in exchange for him. "Hahahahahahahaha haha!" KuLaa's laughter vibrated through the underground lair. It was terrifying, yet inspiring. Every member of her crew silently
Chapter 69: Taken! The front door was left open and the sitting room was left in ruins. There were claw marks on the walls and some had even torn into some of the furniture. As the two boys looked around, their supernatural eyes surged out and they started sniffing the air. "Two wolves and a vampire." Grunted Saint. "Call Elder Mac!" Roy brought out his phone and started dialing Elder Mac's number but nobody picked up. "Blood!" Roy horrid over to a spot behind one of the chairs. There, he found a small red patch of blood on the ground. He touched it and smelled it. "It's Dad's!" His body grew cold and his eyes turned red with rage. "They hurt him." Saint hugged himself as he stared at the red spot of blood on Roy's fingers in horror. The image of Alaric getting torn to pieces flashed across his mind. His body trembled and he whimpered. When Roy looked up and saw Saint's state, he quickly pulled himself together and hurried over to comfort him. "Saint, he will be fine. You have
Chapter 68: Godly Treasure."So despicable," Ryan mumbled. "What is an immortal?" KuLaa asked. She already had an idea but preferred to get more explanation from Madam Su. She believed that Madam Su knew more than the texts she had read. In fact, most of what she had read and what Madam Su was saying were conflicting. "Immortal is a level of cultivation. Humans cultivate to become immortals and Immortals cultivate to become gods. Both immortals and Gods can't die of natural causes. Someone stronger than them is the only thing that can kill them."KuLaa nodded. "Because of the poison fed to everyone in this world by the house of Zote for hundreds of years, the genetics of the people have changed and the generations that followed kept getting weaker and weaker. It is only a matter of time before the creatures of this world die out or get refined by the Zotes unless someone stops them. Your father was the closest to a pure bloodline since the poisoning of the continent. When you wer
Chapter 67; The Origin of Eplica"So we are just a mutation of the two species," Ryan mumbled. "That's right." Madam Su nodded, then continued."Back then, magical beasts were the rulers of the world because when they were cultivated to a certain level, they would gain the ability to transform into a human form. Back then, among magical beasts, it was taboo to marry a human since they were considered to be lesser beings. The magical beasts didn't want their bloodline to be tainted. That was until the Moon Mother and our ancestor met and fell in love." Madam Su continued. "When the monarchs of the magical beasts found out that our ancestors were breeding Turakies in secret, the magical beasts decided to wipe us out. Fortunately, we were not alone in this. When our forefathers discovered the danger, they contacted the shapeshifters from other magical beast families such as dragons, snakes, tigers, and so on. They all joined hands together to beat the magic beasts back. That was w
