Kayla's pov
The silence in the car is driving me crazy as we drive back to Adrian's mansion. My mind is all over the place, from the extravagant club to the dimly lit rooms and the exotic dancers, to the morally inappropriate activities going on in the rooms. And according to Adrian, it's where I'll be working, for him.. I feel his eyes on me but the stare didn't last long. Every nerve in my body is about to burst. I'm full of questions . I keep remembering how he said " you belong to me" like it's some privilege being his. Finally, I can’t keep it in any longer. “What exactly do you stand to gain from this , Adrian?" He glances at me, and a smirk tugs at his lips. “Careful, Isabella. Questioning me isn’t a good behaviour baby girl." "Like I care. I'm really trying to understand this, I'm supposed to work and pay you back but why are you in it?" His gaze sharpens, a glint of intrigue mixed with something darker. “why do you think there's always something to what I do?"he asks, his voice smooth like butter “Isn’t it?” I meet his gaze, refusing to back down. “ I mean, you are forcing me to work for you and serve you in a place like that, definitely you are gaining something " " You don't have to understand everything baby girl. But with time, you'll get it" The answer leaves me more frustrated and confused more than before. Adrian’s gaze linger on me, his smirk growing as if he can sense my frustration. I look away, he sure does know how to annoy me. And guess what- I keep falling for it. When we arrive back at his mansion, I step out of the car quickly, eager to return to my room, because I don't want to see him. But Adrian is already at my side, his hand took my hand while he guides me inside the house. His touch feels reassuring and firm. Once inside, I turnl around to face him. “So, what’s your plan here? You just expect me to accept this stupid working arrangement just like that?" Adrian watches me, unfazed by my question or actions. He steps closer, closing the small space between us. “Let’s be clear, Kayla, you signed the contract remember. This is exactly how it's meant to be and guess what, you have no choice here." His voice is low, a soft threat that prickles across my skin. I feel my heartbeat race as he reaches out, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. The touch is gentle, almost intimate, a stark contrast to the steel in his eyes. “You belong to me now. Whether here or at the hotel, you’ll be wherever I want you,” he murmurs, his voice laced with possessiveness. “Do you understand?” I feel my breath hitch as his fingers trail down my neck, lingering just a bit too long, making my skin heat. “Adrian… this is insane.” “Is it?” His hand moves to my shoulder, his grip firm, grounding me yet pulling me deeper into this strange, intense energy between us. “Or maybe, Isabella, you’re afraid of how much you like it.” The words hit me hard, my heart racing as I try to keep my composure. His gaze is so close, his scent filling my senses. My cheeks flush, and I hate that he can see my reaction, that he’s so smugly aware of the effect he has on me. “You’re delusional,” I manage, barely holding onto my bravado. He tilts his head, a smirk curving on his lips. “We’ll see.” Suddenly, he releases me, his expression hardening again. “Go to your room, Isabella. Rest. Tomorrow, your work starts. And I expect you to be prepared.” I take a shaky breath, his words washing over me with a finality that leaves no room for argument. I quickly turn away to my room,as I go I feel like his gaze never left me. As soon as the door closes behind me, I break down in tears . I clench my chest so hard to ease my pain. I have to call Rissa. I pick up my phone and dial her number. She picks up right away. “Kay?” she says, her voice a soothing balm in the chaos. “Are you okay?” “Clarissa…” I pause, unsure how to even begin. “It’s… so much worse than I thought.” Adrian’s POV I watch her disappear down the hall, her presence lingering like a spark in the air. The defiance, the way she fought against her own attraction—it’s exactly what I expected from Isabella. She’s different, sharp in a way that challenges me, that tempts me to push her limits. She doesn’t know what she’s walked into, but I can tell… a part of her wants to find out. I allow myself a brief smirk, already anticipating tomorrow. The look in her eyes tonight will haunt her, twist her own emotions against her. I'm not expecting her to be submissive, but she will learn to be. I turn back to the living room, head straight to the bar for a glass of whiskey . The spark, the tension. It’s definitely there, it's only a matter of time before she succumbs to me. Kayla's POV ”Rissa, I definitely can't do this. Adrian, he's crazy, he's... He's...." “He’s what?” Her voice is gentle, urging me on. “What happened?” I swallow, the weight of it pressing on my shoulders. “It’s not just the money anymore. He’s dragging me into his world, making me a part of… of his life. He took me to a hotel tonight, some private place where I’m apparently supposed to work for him.” “Work for him? Like, in what way?” “He wants to control me. He wants me at his mercy" She lets out a low hum, absorbing everything I’ve told her. “Kay… are you okay?” The memory of Adrian touching me send waves to my brain “I feel angry, tensed, sad. There’s something about him that gets under my skin, that…” “That what?” I shake my head, feeling stupid. “Nothing.Tomorrow, I start whatever work he has planned, and I can’t afford to lose focus. He’s cold, calculating, and… I don’t even think he has a soul.” Silence settles over the line before Clarissa finally speaks. “Kay, just… be careful. Promise me that you won’t let him get inside your head.” I nod, even though she can’t see it. “I promise.” I may be in this to save my family but Adrian is not going to make it easy. And whether I like it or not, I’m starting to realize… he’s not done with me yet.Kayla's pov A sharp knock awakens me. I groan silently, thinking it will make the person go away, but the person didn't stop knocking rather increasing the tempo of the knocks. Before I can react, the door swings open. “Get your ass up,” Adrian’s commanding voice echoes through the room. My eyes open immediately, and there he is standing casually in my room. He's also dressed casually too..... “What the hell?” I mutter, pulling the covers tighter around me. Adrian strides into the room, his movements predatory. “You don’t get to sleep in, Kayla. Not in my house, and certainly not in my world.” “Ever heard of knocking?” I snap, sitting up. “I did. You ignored it.” His eyes rake over me, and I suddenly feel exposed despite being covered. “What do you want?” I demand, trying to match his intensity. Adrian’s smirk is cold and sharp. “Lesson one starts today.” “Lesson one?” He steps closer and climbs on the bed, the bed goes down slightly under his weight as he leans in towards
Kayla’s breath heightened as Adrian stood before her, his piercing gaze making her feel both vulnerable and trapped in the moment. The air between them felt intense, thick with tension that had been building ever since their last meeting. “You’re late baby girl,” Adrian’s voice was smooth but commanding. His hand rested on the top of the chair , his posture calm and relaxed , but everything about him screamed control. “I'm so sorry" she panicked, her heart racing. “ you know what happens when you break the rules right?” he asked, moving closer to her, the faint scent of his cologne intoxicating her senses. Kayla swallowed, unable to speak. She’d been warned—warned about every lesson, every step she’d need to take to avoid punishment. She knew the stakes. Adrian’s eyes darkened, a flicker of something dangerous crossing his face. “Let me remind you. Lesson three: complete obedience.” He stepped closer until she could feel the heat of his body brushing against hers. His warm breath
Kayla’s POVThe house is quiet—too quiet. Adrian had for work left hours ago, his parting words sharp and commanding: "Stay out of trouble. You don’t want to incur my wrath."Trouble. The word had lingered in the air, constantly reminding me. Adrian had no idea just how much trouble I could stir. Now, standing in the center of his vast living room, I feel the weight of curiosity pressing down on me. Every room in this mansion screams power and secrecy, and I’m determined to peel back the layers of Adrian Blackwood.I take a tentative step toward the hallway leading to his private quarters. The air feels heavier here, as if the house itself is warning me to turn back. But I don’t.I find myself in front of a door—locked, of course. A keypad blinks beside it, and I curse under my breath. Of course, he’d have top-notch security.“Think, Kayla,” I mutter to myself, glancing around. My eyes land on a drawer in a nearby table. With a surge of hope, I pull it open and find exactly what I’m l
Adrian’s POVThe knock at the door is sharp, each sound echoing through the quiet house like a warning bell. I already know who it is. His timing is impeccable—always showing up when I’d rather burn the world than entertain his games.Victor Cane.I glance at the security feed for confirmation and, sure enough, there he is, standing outside in his tailored suit that screams power and danger. His smirk is already in place, a mask he wears as comfortably as his expensive clothes.I let out a slow breath and head to the door, turning my expression into something calm and unreadable. Opening the door, I find him leaning casually against the frame, his dark eyes gleaming with a type of amusement.“Victor,” I say, my tone cold. “To what do I owe this... unexpected pleasure?”Victor pushes himself off the frame and strides inside as if he owns the place. “Oh, come now, Blackwood. No need to be so hostile. I just came to talk.”“Talk?” I close the door and follow him closely into the living r
Kayla's povAdrian’s house was quiet—eerily so. After Victor’s visit, the atmosphere had shifted, as if the air itself carried a warning. Adrian sat across the living room, his phone in hand, scrolling through messages with an intensity that made me shiver. He hadn’t said much after Victor left, but his eyes burned with restrained fury.I glanced at him from my spot on the couch, unsure if I should break the silence. The horrible encounter with Victor still lingered in my mind—his words and taunts, the threats and the bantering between him and Adrian surely tells that this guys go way back together. There was more but I'm willing to know?“Are you just going to stare at me all night and not say anything?,” Adrian asks while flicking the cup of whiskey in his hands. He seems to like whiskey alotI flinched. “I wasn’t.”He leaned back, one arm draped over the edge of the couch, his posture charmingly relaxed. “Lying doesn’t suit you, Ayla.”I wanted to snap back, but the weight of the
Kayla lay on her bed , facing the ceiling while being lost in thoughts. She looks athe the business Card that was given to her by Victor, which she had retrieved from Adrian after he left for work. A lot of things have been running through her mind of late.Victor’s words haunted her. “If you ever want to know the truth, call me.” What truth? Could he know something about her and her family that she doesn't know and Adrian is not telling her?"Before she could die of overthinking, she grabbed her phone and dialed the number on the business card.It rang twice before Victor’s smooth, chilling voice came through. “I wasn’t sure you’d call.”Kayla gripped the phone tighter. “I want to talk. Somewhere public.”Victor chuckled softly. “Smart girl. There’s a café two blocks from Blackwood’s place. I’ll see you there in twenty minutes.”She hung up, her chest tight with nerves and indecision .She motivated herself, grabbed her coat and sneaked out of the house. The idea of meeting Victor ter
The secret house is far from the bustling city, surrounded by an eerie quietness that sets Kayla on edge. Adrian had been uncharacteristically vague when he brought her here, his jaw tight and his demeanor unchanging. The house is modern but cold, its emptiness echoing her thoughts. She’s doesn't know what to feel. It feels like ---- nothing.Clarissa arrives in the late afternoon, they haven't seen each for months now .They embrace tightly, and for a brief moment, Kayla feels a sense of love and security. They settle in the living room, sipping on coffee as Kayla pours out her frustrations about Adrian and her increasingly dangerous life.“He’s controlling, Clarissa. Not just that he's really annoying too. I'm sure this things have to do with me but somehow I don't even know anything, can you just imagine"Clarissa leans back, a teasing smirk forming on her lips. “Well, at least he’s hot. That makes being a pawn a little more bearable, doesn’t it?”Kayla rolls her eyes but can’t help
Adrian walked into the hospital with calculated strides, his friend Ethan trailing closely behind him. The strong smell of antiseptic filled the air as the pair navigated their way to the private ward where Kayla and Clarissa were. His jaw tightened as he recalled the chaos from the night before—the gunshots, Kayla’s frantic cries, and the sight of her blood-soaked hands pressing against Clarissa’s wound, defenseless.“I told her it wasn’t safe to step out, but she doesn't listen, she never does.” Adrian muttered under his breath, more to himself than Ethan.“You can’t exactly lock someone in a cage forever, Adrian, she's bound to rebel at some point” Ethan replied. “Even birds try to fly, no matter how gilded their prison.”Adrian’s eyes narrowed. “This isn’t about freedom. This is about survival. If she doesn’t listen, it's only a matter of time before she ends up dead.”Ethan raised his hands in surrender. “Fine. Just don’t make a scene, remember it's a hospital."When they reached
Cipher stepped into the dimly lit chamber, seated there was a man dressed in leather behind the desk. Shadows clung to the corners of the room, swallowing every ounce of warmth. The boss didn’t even lift his eyes from the scotch glass in his hand.“Well?” the man’s voice came, calm but authoritative “It’s done,” Cipher replied firmly. “I planted the bomb underneath the building as planned. They are all dead.A slow nod followed. The boss swirled the amber liquid in his glass, his gaze distant, thoughtful.“No one survived?” he asked again, this time with a slight edge. “You’re absolutely sure?”Cipher hesitated a moment before straightening. “Yes. I made sure everything went according to plan. Kayla. Adrian. Victor. Ethan. Clarissa. They were all in the building when it blew.”The boss finally looked up, his steel-grey eyes pinning Cipher in place. “And you’re confident that no one saw you?"“No one,” Cipher responded obedientlyThe boss rose to his feet with the elegance of a lion
The message sent had been simple, cryptic, and said to be of utmost importance. No name. No sender. Just a location and time.Adrian read it twice, jaw tightening. His instincts buzzed with curiosity and doubt.Across the city, Ethan stared at the same message, eyebrows furrowed. “What the hell is this?” he muttered. Clarissa leaned over his shoulder. “Whats this supposed to mean.are you going to go"?“I don’t know. But I feel like I should.”Victor laughed coldly as he pocketed the message. “Nice try, bastards. Let’s see what you have planned. I know for a fact Adrian is doing this."Kayla clutched her phone nervously. “Adrian, did you get this?”He nodded. “We’re going. I’ll have men surrounding the area. Stay close to me and you'll be safe."By noon, the old industrial building sat like a waiting beast, rusting and silent. One by one, they arrived. First Adrian and Kayla, then Ethan and Clarissa. Victor arrived last, flanked by two guards, a smug smirk painted on his face.“You?, A
Fiona paced the dimly lit hotel room, her heartbeat thudding like a war drum in her chest. She had been on the run long enough, laying low, changing hotels, wearing wigs to flaw her appearance,But the anxiety never stopped. The fear only grew deeper. Adrian could find her. Victor could kill her. It was just a matter of who got to her first and either way, she's dead. She picked up the burner phone, the third one she’d used this week, and dialed a number she was told never to call unless she was desperate. She was. The call rang once.A voice answered. No pleasantries, no name. Just silence.“I need to meet with you,” Fiona said. “Tonight. In person. It’s urgent.”“Address,” the voice replied, cold and straight She gave them the hotel name and room number, then hung up. No time for pleasantries. She knew how this worked. She was dealing with an organization that specialized in making people disappear. An elite house of assassins. And she needed their best.Exactly twenty five minutes
Victor’s men stood tall in the dark alley, their faces hidden behind hideous masks, their posture as stupid as they are. Ethan walked calmly toward them, a black leather briefcase in one hand and a composed expression masking the war that's going on inside of him.“This better be everything,” the tallest of Victor’s men growled, stretching out his hand.Ethan dropped the briefcase onto the car bonnet. “It’s all there. Every file, every password, every damn thing you asked for.”The man snapped it open, flipping through neatly arranged files, USB drives, and hard copies of encrypted accounts. Ethan had worked all night with Adrian’s tech team to make them look real. The level of detail was so precise, even an expert would be fooled—at least, for a while.“Now that you are satisfied, will you take me to her?,” Ethan demanded, voice cold and sharp like steel.“Master Victor will decide that,” the man replied and motioned for him to wait.A sleek black car pulled up beside them. Victor s
What!!?? Rissa is missing??!!”Kayla’s voice rang out like a siren screaming to free herself from a wicked fisherman's net ,slicing through the calm. Her hands trembled, Ethans phone clutched tightly as the message flashed on the screen. Ethan’s face was drained of color. Adrian turned immediately, eyes narrowing.“Wait—what did you just say?” he asked, stepping closer.Kayla’s lips quivered. “Cant you hear him, he said that my best friend is fucking missing." Adrian’s jaw tensed. “What the hell are you talking about? We were all together just hours ago.”Ethan stood frozen, his phone buzzing again in his pocket. Slowly, he pulled it out. One glance, and his stomach dropped. It read:"Come alone. We have your girl. You have 48 hours. Don’t tell Adrian. Or she dies.A chill swept down his spine. His throat dried as Adrian noticed the way Ethan’s fingers twitched around his phone.“What’s going on?” Adrian asked, stepping forward. “You just got a message too. Show me.”Ethan slipped th
The sun rose beautifully over the lockwood estate, making the environment look surreal.Kayla stretched beautifully under the silk sheets, her body still aching from the night before. Her skin tingled with the memory of Adrian’s touch, his kiss, the feeling of him inside her, the way he pleasured her in a way she couldn't imagine.“Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart,” Adrian’s deep voice broke through her thoughts. He leaned against the doorframe, his blue eyes soft, a beautiful smile plastered on his faceKayla sat up, smiling. “Is it Val's day already?"He walked to her, kissed her forehead, then murmured, “ Yes, it is. Now I need you to get dressed, I'm taking you somewhere special."She giggled. “Special? Where?”Adrian smirked. “How is it a surprise if I tell you"An hour later, Kayla stepped out of the mansion, looking so beautiful and speechless because she saw....Ethan stood by the car, grinning from ear to ear, while Clarissa waved excitedly, already seated inside. Adrian held
He leaned in and captured her lips in a kiss that was slow, intentional, raw and passionate. It deepened quickly, their mouths molding together in a hunger that had been restrained for long His hands cupped her face as if she were something fragile, yet his body pressed against hers with a desperate need and a burning desire. He backed her gently toward the bed, never breaking the kiss. When the back of her knees hit the edge of the bed,"Are you ready for this baby?""I've never wanted something so bad In my life. I WANT YOU ADRIAN""Really, I'm not promising you that I'd be gentle. I've been starved for a long time.""I want you Ady, take me"And that was all he needed to hearAdrian lifted her onto the bed, laying her down as if she were the most precious thing he’d ever touched. He climbed over her slowly, letting his weight settle on her just enough for her to feel the strength of his desire. Their kisses grew messier, deeper, more demanding. Hands roamed, exploring skin that bur
The weather today was so good and warm. The ray of morning sun peeked Into the room through the glass, casting golden shadows. Adrian laid on the bed, one arm tucked behind his head, while the other wrapped around Kayla's waist, keeping her as close as possible. She laid on his chest, her fingers tracing from his face to his chest, their legs tangled. No words were spoken, none was needed. Not today, not even in this sweet moment."You know, I wish we could stay like this forever." Kayla spoke softly against his chest.Adrian smiled, giving her a kiss on her forehead. " Then let's never move. Let's just stay like this forever and ever "I just wish we could just live a peaceful life, like going for walks in the park or something without watching our backs."she said sadly."Hey baby, don't even be like that. Sooner than later, we'd be able to do everything that you love. All I know is , at the very end, we'd be fine. A flush crept up her cheeks and she tried to look away but he hel
Ethan sat at the edge of the bed, rubbing his palm against his jeans as he stared with admiration at Clarissa who was fussing with her earrings in the mirror. She looked effortlessly beautiful even in silence, and the softness of her reflection is just a marvelous sight to behold. It made him feel so proud of himself.“Don't you ever stop to reason how we ended up here , together?" Ethan asked, his voice filled with love and sincerity.Clarissa turned, surprised by his tone. “Here? Like… here together?”He nodded slowly. “Yeah. With all the that gave way to our meeting , you’re still the one thing that feels right. You’re my very own calm in the storm,Rissa."Her lips curled into a small smile, and she walked over to him, sitting on his legs as her fingers ran through his hair. “You’re not that bad yourself. Even with that stubborn temper and your overprotective and hidden instincts."He let out a low laugh. “What can I say? I’d rather be hated for being overprotective than mourn the
