I got back into my room after I had learned that Father had killed Elliot.

With a sigh of relief, I collapsed on the bed. I felt elated and angry at the same time. I realized that I had not seen my personal servant Maria all day, so I called for one of the other maids to fetch her so she could bring me something to eat.

“Where is Maria? I haven’t seen her all day, and why are you the one serving my food?” I asked the servant who was present at the moment.
