I was having my make up touched up to suit the glittery gold dress I was going to wear for the reception when Nolan came into the suite. I looked him up from head to toe, he looked suave in his suit but his eyes were telling a different story. They looked lost.
"Hey Nolan." I said just as the makeup artist informed me that she was done.
My up do hairstyle had been let down and my hair fell back in stylish, seemingly cascading waves. A few braids held the top though, giving it a stylish bridal look. My shimmery gold dress was pretty revealing, it had a thigh high slit and was basically armless but for the beaded straps that fell below my shoulder, it showed a little cleavage but not so much.
I stared at myself one more time before turning to Nolan. I signalled for everyone else to excuse us.
"What's up?" I asked after they had left.
He cleared his throat awkwardly and rubbed his hand on the back of his nec
Damien's POV; I stared at her from the corner of my eye. She was resting her head, while looking out the window. I knew she was avoiding my gaze, I was also well aware of the fact that I had really grated on her nerves with my statement at the wedding reception. It was what I thought and I said it without thinking about it thoroughly. I mean, every girl I met was like that, always wanting to show off to the world especially with wealth like mine. What made her so different? The wedding had finally come and gone, I was glad. Now that I was a married man, my name would be cleared and I would eventually be deemed as a responsible man, no longer a playboy, that was the plan. I could easily have gotten married to one of the models I had on my arm at every other event back in the past, but those people were not fit for married life. No offense. Ariana seemed somewhat traditional and I could easily control her especially because she was so vulnerable. I have to admit, she looked almost e
Ariana's POV;**** I stood still, visibly shaken after Damien had roared at me and marched out of the room furiously. I wondered why he got so grumpy, I assumed he did not like the fact that I was comfortably asleep on his bed. I mean he did remind me of my low class status compared to his at every little opportunity he got. I had no idea when I fell asleep but I was well aware that I was being carried out of the vehicle. I fell back into my slumber soon after and was oblivious of my environment because I was physically exhausted. I felt someone tap me, I assumed it was Nolan because he had a habit of doing that whenever he would sleep over at my apartment. He used to tell me that I slept way too much and he was my personal alarm clock. I involuntarily smiled at those memories. I looked around the room as a wave of exhaustion hit me, my brain could barely register what it looked like at that point. I took out the several bobby pins that held my hair up along with the gold headpiece
Damien left for work immediately after breakfast, even when mom tried to stop him with the reason that he just got married the previous day, his response kept her mute for a few seconds. "If I'd take a holiday for every little thing, would you be able to enjoy the luxuries you do now?"Without another word he swiftly moved out. I was so tempted to tell him off because what he said to his mother was absolutely disrespectful and inappropriate. She may have covered it up with a smile in no time, but I knew that his words must have gotten to her. "Come on," she stretched her palm towards me, I took it and followed her. We were heading to what seemed like an adjoined building that was linked to the one we were in by a huge mahogany door. Somehow, I found that we were outside but at the same time we weren't. This was a front porch with grass and a few flowers here and there but the place was fenced like it was built so it would seem like it was a part of the house we just came out from.
Damien's POV; I got out of my vehicle and strode into my mansion in quick strides. I walked past the guards at the entrance, nodding curtly at their salutations. I walked through the lobby, then I stopped for a second, looking around the wide living room, my eyes searched the area, for someone. There was no sign of her so I assumed she was somewhere around the house, it wasn't like she had anywhere else to go. I jogged up the stairs quickly and swiftly walked to my bedroom. I turned the knob and walked in, she jumped up as soon as I got in. I eyed her from head to toe, she was still in the outfit from this morning but she had her hair packed up in a bun or whatever they called such hair style. "Hi." She squeaked like a mouse, staring at anywhere but me. I stared at her in suspicion, wondering what she had been up to. "How are you?" I asked, unbuttoning my shirt slowly. "I'm okay," she was still staring around the room, she seemed uncomfortable. She cleared her throat. "Can you
Few days later..."So how did that go for you?" I asked Fiona with a mocking grin. She was relaying a funny story of how she had embarrassed herself in front of her crush in eighth grade."No fair, you're supposed to empathize with me." She pouted. I chuckled."I can't help it, the story is hilarious." It truly was.We were seated at the dining table having lunch and chattering away. It was just us in the house, everyone else had gone out for one thing or the other. Fiona did not want me getting lonely without her brother so she decided to keep me company. Little did she know that I was glad that he was not anywhere in sight. That man was just too irritable for his own good and he was just as annoying. But irresistibly hot too, don't you think? My conscience said to me. I smacked her with my palm. We agreed to not entertain
It was Saturday and I had officially spent a week being married, I released a sigh at the thought. I had gone around the whole house the previous day and I found an indoor gym, I assumed that was where Damien worked out because he had such a well sculpted body. I figured it would be a great way to pass time and keep my body in shape. I was currently in the bathroom, wrapping my hair up in a towel when I heard Aleena's voice from outside. "Come on Dee, why do you have to go to work today? It's Saturday!" She whined in a childlike manner. I did not hear what he said to her but my curiousity got the better part of me and I came out of the bathroom only to see Aleena sitting on our, I mean, Damien's bed while he arranged a few documents and carried his laptop apparently about to leave for the office. Aleena spotted me as soon as I came out and she gave me a wide grin. "Good morning, Ariana." She bade. "Good morning, how was your night, Aleena?" I said to her. "Fine, thank you." She
I hiccuped severally as I cried, leaning my back on the bathroom door. I did not know how long I had been there but I was sure it was a really long time. Damien rapped on my door for a while, asking-more like commanding- me to open up but I did not move an inch. He gave up eventually and left. I heard him storm out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I flinched at the sound. I never thought that things would escalate to this point. Well this was our first major fight as a married couple, the rest were just trivial squabbles. But somehow I knew that this was nothing compared to the ones to come in due time. I cried because it hurt so bad after he threw my phone into the pool. It was actually a gift from Nolan and it was just a few months old. It was so special to me. Nolan thought to buy me a new phone for my birthday because my old phone had packed up on my birth week and my father was admitted in the hospital back then so I could not go about getting a replacement conside
I sat up on my bed and looked around the room. His side of the bed was untouched. There was hardly any sign of him being present all through the night. I wondered if he had slept in his study or some other bedroom. I even imagined him going to sleep in Aleena's room in the West Wing of the mansion but I discarded the thought, Damien never went in there, I had never seen him over there. I shrugged off whatever thoughts I had of him, it was way too early to be thinking of him, especially because he was not a good person. I slowly slid out of the bed and trudged into the bathroom to ease myself. After that, I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I was just coming out of the bathroom when a knock came through the door. "Come in." I said aloud and watched in silence as the person turned the knob on the door and walked in. "Good morning Mr Walter." I said with a soft smile, the old man returned it. His eyes crinkled at the sides as he smiled. "Good morning Mrs Kingston." He said. I had
