Chapter 84

A Few Days Later

Victoria's POV

"Hi Jakley," I said as I entered the unfinished building, my voice echoing slightly in the empty space. There weren't many people around today—just five in total, including Jerry, the guy I had slapped the other day.

Jakley had called me to come over today. He handed me an envelope he had received from Jerry, and I quickly opened it, revealing my passport and travel tickets. A satisfied smile spread across my face, relief washing over me. "It was hard because you’re on the wanted list, but I guess they haven't banned you from travelling. So, you should pay me for my effort," he said, a hint of pride in his voice.

"Yeah, sure. Once the second job is done, I’ll pay you the balance and add more," I replied, trying to sound confident, even though I was lying through my teeth. I scanned the documents and noticed I would be leaving tomorrow evening. I looked up at him questioningly.

"Well... the work will be done tomorrow afternoon. We learned

Chapter 85A FEW DAYS BEFORE VICTORIA'S ACCIDENT Julian's POV"I trailed her and entered an uncompleted building where thugs are," Jaxon informed me, his voice steady but his eyes betraying a flicker of concern."What was her discussion with the thugs?" I asked. The silence that followed was deafening as Jaxon bowed his head as if he is embarrassed. "Don't worry, you can tell me."He hesitated, swallowing hard before finally speaking. "Ehrm... she asked the thug to cause a car accident for your wife and prepare her a travel ticket." Anger ignited within me, a fierce blaze at the thought of Sophie being harmed. How dare she still entertain such wicked plans? This time, I would ensure she faced the consequences of her crimes."Explain everything in detail," I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended. Jaxon nodded, pulling out his phone to play the recordings of her conversation with the thug. I clenched my fists as i listened to her voice. "Keep an eye on her and tell Marcus to monit

Chapter 86Sophie’s POV"You need to leave this place, ma’am," Elena urged as I moved toward the car, leaving her behind. "The car will catch fire soon. The engine is overheating."But all I could think about was getting to Victoria and rescuing her. Even though I hated her for trying to kill me, I never despised her to the point of wishing her dead, even though she wanted me to die. I wished for her to be alive. I prayed silently as I hurried toward her tumbled car.I caught a glimpse of her eyes opening slightly before they fluttered shut again. It looked like she was still alive. Panic surged through me as I rushed back to Julian. "She's alive, Julian! Save her!" I screamed, my voice cracking with desperation. Before he could respond, I heard a loud hiss followed by the crackle of flames. I turned just in time to see Victoria's car engulfed in fire. No. No. No. This shouldn’t be happening. I collapsed onto the ground, overwhelmed as Julian wrapped his arms around me. I stared at th

Chapter 89 Sophie’s POV It’s been one beautiful week since I gave birth to my adorable twins, Jane and Jason. Julian is keeping his promise, announcing our wedding for just two days from now. Tonight is my bachelorette party, and the preparation is in full swing, with excitement buzzing all around. I never imagined I could feel this happy; it all seems like a beautiful dream, one I hope never to wake from. As I glance over at my little ones, peacefully sleeping in their cribs, my heart swells with love. I lean down to plant gentle kisses on each of their cheeks before heading downstairs to join the festivities. “Bride-to-be!” Isabella teases as I enter the living room, making me chuckle. “Where are my babies?” “They’re sleeping upstairs,” I reply, and she nods knowingly. “Have you tried on your outfit for tonight and tomorrow?” Isabella asks. “No, not yet,” I admit, and she gave me a mock scolding look. “Go try it on now!” she insists. “We need you ready for the party!”

Chapter 90 Sophie’s POV My phone slipped from my grasp, clattering to the ground as the shock overwhelmed me. 'He was the one that killed your father' The words echoed in my mind as I grasped the iron railing of the staircase for support, my knuckles white. "Soph, are you okay?" The voice pulled me from my haze, reverberating as if from a distance. Suddenly, I felt a hand shook me gently. "Are you okay, Sophie." I looked down to see Evelyn, Isabella, and my mom’s worried gaze staring up at me. Isabella held my phone, which had fallen down. Then i saw him-Julian walking toward us. He killed my father! Julian killed my father! I yanked my phone away from Isabella and race upstairs to the room I shared with Julian. My babies were still sleeping peacefully, and I quickly locked the door behind me, leaving me trapped inside. I sanked my butt into the bed as I looked at my phone, and the message was still glaring at me. It can't be true, can it? Julian would never do such

Chapter 91 Sophie’s POV "You really need to stop crying, Sophie, and explain what happened. You are getting us worried." Isabella said, her voice filled with concern. It had been an hour since we got home, yet I couldn’t bring myself to tell them the truth—that the man I loved, the man I was supposed to get married to, had killed my own father. My heart ached, and the weight of the revelation felt unbearable. "Yeah, Bella is right. You should tell us what's wrong. Today was supposed to be your bachelorette night, and your wedding is next, but everything is canceled now," my mom added. "Exactly. Julian just came outside and didn't say anything, and now you are not talking either. Do you see him in a compromising position with another woman? Or what exactly could be the matter that has you crying for an hour now? You really need to tell us so we can know what to do," Isabella pressed "Julian..." I stammered, my voice trembling. Sooner or later, they'd known. I guess i should

  • Behind the Billonaire's Mask    The past...

Chapter 92 Julian's POV TWO YEARS AGO "Here, the new target." Xavier, the leader of this damn organization, passed a file across the table with an air of casual indifference. I dropped the half-empty glass of whiskey I had been nursing, the ice clinking against the glass as I picked up the file. My eyes fell on the photo of a man, clearly in his fifties, with graying hair and a weary expression that suggested he had seen too much of life’s darker side. "What is his offence?" I asked. I dropped the file back onto the table, feeling the whiskey burn its way down my throat as I took a deep gulp. "You really should quit asking about people's offenses before they get killed," Xavier snapped, irritation flashing in his eyes. "It's okay if you're not telling me, then," I replied, standing up to leave. "Okay, okay. Sit down and hear me out," he said, and i glared at him and then sat. Xavier was always worried that if he did a job of eliminating people without my knowledge,

Charlotte, the ever-curious one, leaned in, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Yes, that's what I heard, but I am not sure what her reason is," Sandra replied, crossing her arms as if to shield her secrets."Could she be afraid that we would snatch her husband?" Gabrielle chimed in, her voice low and conspiratorial. Known for her quiet demeanor, she only spoke up when she felt it was absolutely necessary, and then quickly retreated into her shell."No, she's not the type. She seems nice...but she could really be afraid since females are more than males here," Charlotte interjected, her brow furrowed in thought."I know, right? That's probably the reason," Sandra agreed, nodding earnestly."You guys should focus on your work and stop gossiping about a happy home. The boss would be here soon," Athena, the manager,

Caleb had been my best friend for years now, so i see no reason why he would do such a thing. "Are you sure about what you just said?" "Yes, sir. I confirmed it countless times, but all the evidence pointed to him..." that was all I needed to hear, and my next move was walking hurriedly to him. He had already gone a few miles, heading toward his car. I grabbed him by the shoulder, pivoting him to face me, and without hesitation, I threw a punch that landed squarely on his jaw. Gasps erupted from the small crowd that had gathered. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Julian?" Caleb demanded, wiping the blood from his lip with a look of confusion and anger. I didn’t respond; instead, I landed another punch. He quickly turned, grabbing me by the shoulders. "Tell me what the hell you're doing now and stop punching like a minor!" he yelled, his voice

Chapter 99 Julian's POV Damn. The wait is fucking killing me. I can't wait to see my bride. I can't wait to see how beautiful she would look today. "Hey, man." Caleb said as he walked over to where I was sitting. "What's up, P." I greeted back and we exchanged hugs and handshakes. Caleb is my best man, of course. He's been my rock throughout this entire planning process. Marcus walked in almost immediately. "She is around, sir." I didn’t even wait to hear any more and dashed out of the room into the room meant for my bride. I froze at the sight before me. Sitting there, surrounded by people taking pictures was Sophie. Is this really the bride I'm getting married to? Sophie is an epitome of beauty, I know that, but this fucking transformation made my heart skipped a beat; she looked fucking stunning, or is there any word powerful enough to capture her radiance. She sat on the small cushion in the room, her white flowing gown surrounding her without revealing any hint of h

Chapter 98 Sophie’s POV I looked at my reflection in the mirror, my heart racing with excitement and a hint of anxiety. It's finally my day; it's the day I'm officially going to be Julian's wife. I hope everything goes smoothly, Victoria is still lurking around in God knows where. No one has been able to find where she is or sighted her, which made my stomach twist in knots. I gazed at my children, and they were kicking their cradles as if happy mommy is getting married. I really, really hope everything goes well today. I don't want anything disrupting the wedding, not even the slightest thing like last time. I couldn’t bear the thought of a repeat. The bachellorete night held last night and it was a success. But now, I could only hope this day would be a success as well. The door opened, revealing Julian. "Why are you not dressed up yet? I thought Evelyn and Isabella were supposed to be here. Where are they?" Julian asked. I didn't answer, instead; i rushed into his ar

  • Behind the Billonaire's Mask    Where are you, Victoria?

Chapter 97 Julian’s POV Victoria has woken up and escaped, but we still have no idea where she is. The hospital's surveillance footage was checked, but it revealed nothing from that day—not even a glimpse of her leaving the hospital. That could mean only one thing: the footage has been tampered with. But by who? It can't be Victoria; she just regained consciousness, and there’s no way she had the strength or awareness to orchestrate something like that on her own. There’s definitely another person involved—someone who is keeping her hidden. The thought gnaws at me. Who could it be? I lean back into the sofa, trying to piece together the puzzle. “Is there anyone else you know who might be connected to Victoria? An acquaintance, maybe someone random?” I asked Jaxon. The look on his face is one of frustration mixed with something; fear, concern, whatever. If anyone would know about her connections, it would be him. I would have suspected him to be the one, but he was at my offic

I said, gestured to Marcus, who dropped his luggage into the car, and we drove home. Marcus brought out the envelope containing the pictures and handed it to me while I handed it to Isaac. Isaac collected them and kept looking at it. "This is me." he raised up his head to look at me as he pointed at the picture he was in with Sophie. "Yeah, that's you." If you see your families, it might help you regain your memory." I gestured as Marcus led the way outside. The drive to Sophie’s house was steeped in silence, each of us buried in our thoughts. I can't imagine how happy Sophie would be to see her long-lost father. At least, it would bridge the gap between
