Chapter 90

Sophie’s POV

My phone slipped from my grasp, clattering to the ground as the shock overwhelmed me.

'He was the one that killed your father'

The words echoed in my mind as I grasped the iron railing of the staircase for support, my knuckles white.

"Soph, are you okay?" The voice pulled me from my haze, reverberating as if from a distance.

Suddenly, I felt a hand shook me gently. "Are you okay, Sophie." I looked down to see Evelyn, Isabella, and my mom’s worried gaze staring up at me. Isabella held my phone, which had fallen down.

Then i saw him-Julian walking toward us. He killed my father! Julian killed my father! I yanked my phone away from Isabella and race upstairs to the room I shared with Julian. My babies were still sleeping peacefully, and I quickly locked the door behind me, leaving me trapped inside.

I sanked my butt into the bed as I looked at my phone, and the message was still glaring at me. It can't be true, can it? Julian would never do such a thing! He would never kill a human. I guess the message was sent to the wrong person. But how did the person know my father was dead? Ah, God! I wish this was all a cruel joke, I wish that this person was just trying to frame Julian and destroy our marriage.

I grabbed my phone tightly and typed a defiant response to the message: 'How dare you try to frame my husband?' but the message wouldn't send; the number was restricted.

Then came the sounds of frantic banging on the door."Open the door, Sophie!", "Open the door!", "It's your mom here, Sophie", "Open the door, milady." the voice continued, merging into a frantic chorus. At this point, they were going to break the door or wake my little cuties.

Then, my phone buzzed, and a message came in from the same ominuous number:

'I know you are finding it hard to believe, but ask Julian about him being an assassin and show him a picture of your father'

Yeah, I should really do this. I should ask Julian. It’s probably a lie, but this sender's confidence is infuriating. I moved closer to the door, hesitated, and then unlocked it. The door swung open, and my mom, Isabella, Evelyn, and Julian rushed inside.

"Can you please excuse me and Julian?" I said, my voice trembling, and they all exchanged concern glances, nodded, and left the room, leaving me and Julian alone.

"What’s wrong, Sophie." he asked, geniune worried look on his face, and I realized at that point that I really don't want to lose this man. I desperately wish everything was a lie, and we can continue our blissful life, the live we've been living for the past months. He stepped closer to me, grabbed one of my hands in a tender touch that sent butterflies grumbling in my stomach. "Are you okay?" he asked, brushing his lips against the back of my hand.

I pulled my hand away, my heart racing, grabbed him closer, my palm cupping his face, and I captured his soft lips in a desperate and tender kiss. He responded instinctively, then I broke the kiss, tears welled up in my eyes.

"Is there anything about you that I don't know?" I asked, searching his eyes for answer.

"No, baby. I don't think there's any." he said, and I realized he was being genuine. His words were convincing. But the text still lingered.

"Do you kill people before?" I dropped the bombshell as i couldn't hold the question in any longer. "I mean, were you an assassin?" The look on his face told me everything I needed to know, and I stepped back, horrified.

"I wanted to tell you, Sophie..." he began, his voice shaky.

"Then why didn't you tell me?" I interrupted him as the tears dropped from my eyes down my cheeks as I grabbed his shoulder, shaking it slightly. "Why Julian? You could have told me."

"I was planning on telling you after the wedding and the reason why I turned an assassin." he said, but I couldn’t listen anymore. I rushed to one of my suitcase, flinging it open and rifling through the contents until I found the photos of my father and me. “I’m sorry, Sophie. I swear, I didn’t mean to hide it from you,” he pleaded, but his words fell on deaf ears.

"But...you killed my father, Julian." I said as more tears streamed down my face.

"How can you say I killed your dad? I don't even know him." he said.

“Here!” I thrust the picture toward him. His reaction said it all and my hand flew instinctively fell across his face in a sharp slap."You did, Julian. You really killed my dad." I screamed, the realization hitting me hard like a tidal wave.

“I...I...can explain,” he stammered, inching closer.

“No, there’s nothing to explain! There really is nothing to explain, Julian. The wedding is called off!” I declared, my heart pounding.

"You need to hear me out, Sophie. I didn’t know he was your dad, and I—"

“I don’t want to hear your voice again! I hate you, Julian!” I spat, my voice laced with rage.

“No, Sophie. You really need to listen so you won’t regret it,” he insisted, desperation creeping into his tone.

“What’s there to regret now? Other than regretting that, I fell for you. I regret the day I met you. I regret the day I started falling for you! I regret everything, Julian. Everything! I wish I could forget you forever. I wish I could!” I yelled, my voice cracking as I glanced at Jane and Jason, who had begun to stir. “I regret our union, which brought about these innocent little cuties!” I added, my heart breaking further.

“Sophie, you need to hear me out, for real...”

“I don’t want to hear your voice, Julian. I despise you and your voice now. Leave!” I shouted, pushing him toward the door and locking it behind him.

I looked around the room, my heart heavy with sorrow and anger. I began packing my suitcases, pulling clothes from the closet, gathering my makeup kits, and shoving everything that belonged to me into my three suitcases and two minibags. I felt a mix of nostalgia and bitterness as I recalled arriving in this house with just one half-full suitcase. Now, I was leaving with three full bags, but I resolved to leave behind everything he had bought for me.

Heck. He bought everything here for me. My past clothes had been disposed of. But, anyway, I was going to leave everything, everything my father's murderer bought for me. Everything!

I dropped the debit card he had given me on the bed, grabbed a wrapper to carry Jason, and cradled Jane in my arm. I picked up my phone, unlocked the door, and headed downstairs.

“Sophie, what’s wrong?” Isabella asked, her voice filled with concern. My mom’s gaze mirrored hers, worry etched on her face. I quickly scanned the room for Julian and Evelyn but found them absent. Relief washed over me; at least I could leave without being stopped.

“Let’s go,” I said firmly. “I’ll explain everything when we get home.” My mom nodded, taking Jane from my arms, and we stepped out of Julian’s house for good.

SIX YEARS LATER Sophie’s POV "Good morning, beauty." A deep, familiar voice broke through my peaceful sleep, and I felt a warm presence near me. Slowly, I fluttered my eyes open, adjusting to the morning light streaming through the curtains. Julian stood beside the bed, a soft smile on his lips, holding a tray of breakfast in his hands. "Good morning, honey," I murmured, stretching lazily before sitting up. A wave of warmth filled me at the sight before me—a plate of golden-brown toast, a perfectly fried egg, and a steaming cup of tea. My stomach grumbled in approval, making me smile. Julian placed the tray gently on the bed and sat on the edge, watching me. "I made breakfast for you," I glanced at him, my heart swelling with love. "Thank you, honey." His smile widened, and without warning, he leaned in, tilting his head to kiss me. I quickly turned my face away, causing him to freeze mid-motion. "Huh?" He blinked. I chuckled, pressing my lips together. "I haven’t brushed my

Chapter 118 Sophie’s POV It had been three hell long days since Julian fell into a coma. His face, once so vibrant and full of life, was now pale and drawn, the oxygen tubes were gone but there was still IV drips connected to his hand. His lips were slightly parted, and his chest rose and fell weakly beneath the hospital gown, but there was no other sign of movement. I sat beside him, my fingers laced through his, unable to look away from his still form. I tightened my grip on his hand, my voice barely above a whisper. "Julian, can you hear me?" No response. My throat tightened as I swallowed hard, forcing back another wave of despair. I wished for even the faintest sign of acknowledgement. I missed him—his laughter, his warmth, his voice, everything that made him who he was. "Do you remember when you first told me you loved me?" I continued, my voice trembling. "You said it so casually, as if you had always known. And I was so scared… scared that if I believed it, I’d los

Chapter 117 Sophie’s POV The ambulance doors slammed shut, and we sped through the city, sirens wailing. My hands trembled as I clutched Julian’s, his skin cold and clammy. His face was too pale, his lips slightly parted as he struggled for breath. "Stay with me, Julian," I pleaded, my voice shaking. "Please, don’t close your eyes." He tried to smile, but it was weak. His eyelids fluttered, his body barely holding on. "No, no, no," I sobbed, pressing my forehead against his. "You promised me. You said you wouldn’t leave me. You can’t break your promise now." The paramedics worked frantically, pressing gauze against his wound, checking his vitals. "He's losing too much blood," one of them muttered. "Do something!" I screamed. "We're doing everything we can," another paramedic said, trying to keep me calm. I swallowed back my panic and looked at Julian again. His chest rose and fell weakly, each breath looking more labored than the last. "I love you, Sophie," he whi

Chapter 116 Sophie’s POV The sound of the gunshot echoed in my ears, deafening. My body tensed, my breath hitched, and for a moment, I swore my heart had stopped. But there was no pain. I wasn’t hit! Slowly, I opened my eyes, my body trembling, my breath ragged. My heart pounded so loudly it nearly drowned out everything else. Celine—or rather, Victoria—was standing there, her face twisted in rage. But her grip on the gun had faltered, her hands shaking slightly. Then I noticed—someone had tackled her from the side. The gun had fired, but not at me. My breath came in short, uneven bursts as my eyes fell on the person who had tackled her. Julian. He was there, gripping Victoria’s wrist, twisting it painfully as she shrieked in frustration. The gun clattered to the floor, skidding across the rooftop. Victoria struggled wildly, her breath ragged with anger. "Let me go, you bastard!" she spat. "Not this time." Julian’s grip tightened as he shoved her backward, pinning her agains

Chapter 115 Sophie’s POV "How do I look?" I asked, turning to Julian while smoothing down the fabric of my red off-shoulder gown. The silky material hugged my curves perfectly, flowing elegantly to my feet. Julian’s gaze softened as he stepped closer, his lips curving into a fond smile. "You look as stunning as always," he murmured, tucking a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. His touch was gentle, affectionate, and when he leaned down to press a kiss on my forehead, warmth spread through me. Then, he kissed me lightly on the lips, making my heart skip a beat. "Thank you, hubby," I whispered, "You made this happen. You made everything happen. If someone had told me a year ago when I got here that everything would turn out like this, I would have asked them to shut up." Julian chuckled, his fingers tilting my chin up so I could meet his gaze. "Why?" he asked. I sighed, shaking my head at how absurd it all seemed now. "Because I never thought I would fall in love with yo
