~Jade~
There was a new student in school the next day. I got to school and the guys were whispering about the supposed new student, about how well formed her ass is and about her boobs. I mentally rolled my eyes as I passed Caleb and his friends as he was gisting his friends.
'Guys, I'm not joking here oo. You have to see this ass. It's like Kim K's ass. Damn. There's going to be some serious knacking this session.'
I rolled my eyes and walked into the class. Michelle who was talking with her gang glared at me and the whole of her gang hissed at me. I smiled. What a joke? I saw the new girl later, some minutes before the assembly, she was asking Caleb something around the SS3 block. I doubt if the idiot heard a thing she said, his brain was around wrapped around her ass and breasts.
After the assembly, our class teacher, Miss Nwokeji came over to introduce the new student to us.
'Hi Guys. Good morning. Hope you're all fine. I'm sure you guys already know you have a new student with us. She'll come out now to introduce herself to us'
I was already bored with the whole thing. Can we just go to the part where our first teacher comes in or the part where today ends? The new girl walked to the front of the class, her buttocks rolling more than she did.
'Wo wo. Ukwu!!.'
Someone beside me said, it was Daniel and Uthman laughed at his words. Will these boys ever grow?
'Hello guys. Good morning. My name is is Keji Olawale. A transfer student from Melvicks High. I hope we all get along well. Thank you.' She said, flashing a smile.
'We'll get along well since you have all these ass and brezz.'
Caleb muttered behind me.
'So why do we have a new student in SS3? The last time I checked, Lakeview Academy doesn't admit students in their final year.'
That earned me glance from the new student, I could feel her assessing me, probably wondering who I was. I stared back, unfazed.
'Well, Jade. There'll always be clauses and commas for some people.'
Miss Nwokeji answered.
On what grounds? was on the tip of my tongue to ask but I suppressed it, feeling no need to drag this ordeal longer than usual. So I merely nodded at her. Keji walked back to her seat which was not far from mine. I groaned inside. Really! I don't want to have anything to do with this girl. Miss Nwokeji walked out of the class and Hana turned to look at me.
'Jade!'
'Roger that' That was Akin. I smiled at the both of them.
The rest of the classes went by went quickly. The new girl kept staring at me. It was a glare or anything but she kept staring at me anyway. Then at one point during Civic Education class and Uthman answering a question in his usual cocky way and this girl kept staring at me and I realized then, that it wasn't me she was staring at, it was Uthman. It has been Uthman since morning. Wow. Now, that's something.
Then during lunch break, Keji walked up to Uthman who was almost on his way out.
'Hi, can you show me around please?
Laughter formed at the bottom on my stomach.
Uthman exchanged a knowing glance with Daniel. Hana pinched me. The whole class looked on. I was sure Michelle was boiling inside.
'Well, I have prior engagement. I'm sure someone else will be glad to show you around.'
The laughter had risen to my throat.
'But I want you to.'
Keji replied in an extremely feminine way. Michelle stood up from her seat, walked up to Uthman, linked arms with him, flashed a smile at Keji.'
'Let's go and eat before the lunch break is over.'
She said to him, all the way looking at Keji. These girls are official enemies because of Uthman. The laughter was now at the tip of my tongue. Before Uthman could answer, Keji asked
'Can I join you guys?'
Wow. This one is definitely determined to man.
'NO'
That came out faster than usual. I turned to look at Michelle and Uthman, who looked rather bored to death and slightly amused by the whole scenario and Daniel, who looked like he just walked into Hollywood.
I laughed then, drawing all attention to me. I simply couldn't hold back any longer. I laughter for a little longer before I stood up, clapping.
'Well, that was a mind blowing performance. You guys should definitely try acting. Your duo is so perfect. And Michelle, you wanted to become an actress, right? I hope that doesn't change. Who knows? You might be the next Genevieve.'
'Fuck off Jade.'
'Manners, Mister Gbadamosi. You are not setting good examples as the supposed star of Lakeview.'
I smiled and walked out of the classroom. Hana hot on my trail.
'Jade!'
I stopped and waited for her to catch up with me.
'Jade, you're......'
'I'm crazy, I know'
'Yeah, really crazy but I can't imagine you in any other way. I love you like l this'.
She shrieked and I laughed
'But this new girl is crazy sha, staking a claim on a guy first day in school. She doesn't even care what history he has in the school. She just....'
Hana stopped and shook her head. I shrugged and laughed.
'I don't even know if girls my age are supposed to be acting that way. She's very much like Michelle, they'd make a good combo but now, they're enemies because of our star boy. How hilarious!!'
'Hilarious indeed. That's their problem. I don't even care.'
Hana said and I laughed.
I have a feeling this year was going to be the most fun year at Lakeview Academy. I couldn't wait. But little did I know.......

~Uthman~
After the whole drama, we all went to the cafeteria, leaving the crazy new girl behind. She is definitely crazy with a crazy stature. Now we were sitting in the cafeteria and Michelle was picking at her food slowly.
'Are you alright?'
She glanced sharply at me
'Am I supposed to be alright after what happened?'
Wow. That was a first. The first time Michelle would snap at me. I decided I liked this Michelle better than the Michelle who always agreed to whatever I say until she said;
'I'm sorry I snapped like that.'
Dan gave me a knowing smile.
'But Jade really needs to be taught a lesson. Like she really needs it. She keeps looking down on people. You're much more brilliant than her and you never talk down to people like that.'
'Yeah, but just let her be, she's not worth it.'
'She's worth what's coming for her now.'
My next words were not out of my mouth before Michelle started walking towards where Jade sat with Hana and Akin. I glanced at Dan who shrugged and said;
'A drama. Maybe Michelle will definitely put Jade in her place.'
I don't think so though. Jade always have a comeback for everything. Nobody will ever outdo her when it comes to being bitchy.
'You crazy bitch. If you're still hurt because I left your sorry ass, just say so instead of attacking me every single time I do or say something.'
Everybody in the cafeteria fell silent. Their food suspended. I watched Hana and Akin stare mouth opened at Michelle who was standing directly in front of Jade. The girl in question continued eating as if nothing was happening.
'Idiot, I'm talking to you. Have you added being deaf to many of your disabilities?'
Jade went on eating, ignoring everything. I stood up, ready to save Michelle from further embarrassment.
'Do you know you're spitting saliva in my food?'
'What?' Michelle asked, incredulously.
'You're spitting saliva in my food and now I have to pour it away.'
The whole dinning burst into laughter. Michelle looked like she was going to burst into tears anytime soon. I got to her immediately she has her hand poised in the air to slap Jade.
'Let's go. You don't have to waste your energy on her'
I pulled her away from the dinning to the serene field. Michelle was still holding on to her hand as we sat down.
'She is really nasty, you know. How do people stand her? How the fuck is Hana putting on with her?'
How did you put on with her for two years? I wanted to ask but I did not because once upon a time, there was three formidable friends, Jade, Hana and Michelle until Michelle did what she did and....
'You should have just ignored her, you know? I was going to get her back for what she did to you.'
'Really?' Her eyes lit up a little
'Yeah, in the ultimate way. I'll win ECOWAS Debate and when I win over her to represent Lakeview, you can rub it in her face for as long as you want, that you close friend won over her, ultimately.'
She smiled, then muttered 'I would have loved it to be My boyfriend.'
I looked at her, really looked at her. This was the first time Michelle will be vocal about liking me. I swallowed. She must have noticed my discomfort because she quickly added.
'I'll wait till whenever you are ready and I can't wait to rub it in her face. Oh my God! I can't wait.'
I laughed
'You'll have the last laugh. I promise'
'Yeah'
She hugged me quickly and let go immediately.
'Thank you for everything.'
'You're worth much more.'
'I'm sorry to break up the romantic vacation but our next subject is English and you know Mr Kogberegbe doesn't tolerate lateness.'
We glanced up, Dan was walking towards us, a mischievous smile on his face. We stood up, joined him and started walking to class. Michelle soon joined her gang who were waiting for her around the block.
'You guys are finally official?'
I glanced at him. This dude was not going to relent on this rubbish any time soon. Jade was in class when we entered the classroom, reading a novel. This girl right here can throw a tantrum into someone's life and then pretend she had done nothing wrong. With the way she was sitting peacefully, someone would think she's a good person but only I really know how far she can go to get things to work in her favor.
I will win ECOWAS Debate and I can't wait to see her expression when I do.
But only if wishes were horses....
~Jade~This morning like most mornings, I ate alone in the big dinning room I saw no reason my parents should have built for a family of five. A family of five that rarely eats together at that. My dad had an impromptu surgery during the night and he had rushed to the hospital with Saheed. Mom already left even before I woke up to deliver their breakfast to them. Now, I'm sitting at the dinning table alone, listening to the clusters of cutleries on plates and listening to the echos of my thoughts. Our debate on Sex Education was just two days away, today was Wednesday and on Friday, we'd climb the podium again except that this term, Lakeview had decided it wasn't going to be a debate-like but an argument sort of, like a panel discussion on Sex Education in front of the whole school. I was still busy with my thoughts when the
~Jade~ 'Good day Mr Chairman, panel of judges, accurate time keeper, Co-debaters and my fellow student. My name is Wura Adegbite and I'm here to speak against Sex Education in schools. Firstly, I'll like to define Sex Education, Sex Education is...' I blocked out what she was saying to focus on the notes on my Laps. It was on Friday and I was sitting in front of the whole school. Uthman was sitting adjacent me, arms folded across his chest. Our panel coordinator was sitting in our middle. After Wura and Gabriel had given their speeches on the topic, there was going to be a panel discussion between myself and Uthman. I turned to look at him, he was engrossed in the book he was holdi
Jade's POV 'Dad please, I have to attend this wedding, it's my best friend sister's wedding.' 'No and let this be the last time we'll have this conversation.' That was dad's curt reply. We were having our rare family dinner and Zee decided to ruin it by asking Dad for permission to attend a wedding in Ekiti. 'oh oh' 'I don't have any problem with you attending weddings in Oyo, Ibadan or Ife but you're definitely not going to Ekiti for a wedding.' Zee grumpled, pushed her plates away, stood up and made to leave the dinning room. 'Come back to the table young lady'
~Jade~ Friday morning, Civic Education first period. Aunty Ifeoma was teaching us Political Apathy. It was a topic that I have a serious interest in. "So, can anyone tell us why people have serious aversion for politics?"My right hand was up before anyone else."Right, Miss Badmus. You tell us.""I think it's only unserious people that have political apathy. I think it's these same set of people that'll keep complaining the government is bad, the government is this, the government is that. And they're not even making any change. I actually think it's pretty sick and stupid."I watched Miss Ifeoma' s face flushed. She was about to say something when someone spoke up"I don't think that'
~Uthman~I got home around 6pm even though it was a Friday. We had a friendly match with Royal Academy. We won of course, we can't lose with the star boy playing. Aunty Bola was cooking something in the kitchen. Probably efo roro because of the strong aroma of eru and palm oil. My stomach growled, reminding me that the only thing I ate today was that meatpie in the cafeteria."I'm home.""Kaabo. How was the match?""Fine ma."I lingered by the kitchen door without saying anything. She turned and stopped, surprised to see me still standing there."You should go freshen up, dinner will be served before you are done.""Yeah."I nodded at her and left. I passed by Moji's room. Her door was slightly open and she was reading her Queen Premier on her
~Jade~My stupid self was just too compassionate for my liking. Bacause Saheed was curious to know why Uthman and his Dad were so off with each other, Dad finally told us that since his mom died , his father had changed and he has never truly gotten over the death making him something sort of a horrible father to his kids. My subconscious started feeling sorry for him then. It was that stupid subconsciousness that made me open my mouth on Monday morning to greet him. We bumped into each other in front of our class and 'Good Morning' was out of my mouth before I could even think twice. Now, I'm mad. I swear. The guy in question just looked at me as if I've grown two heads before he mouthed good morning and walked away. My classmates were talking about Michelle's party when I entered."The party was crazily interestin
Uthman's POV Pass straight dribble go go go and it's a Goal. Wooosh, I shouted and in less than a second, I was lifted off the ground by my teammates. Wooosh, I said again, feeling excitement bubbling in my heart. That was my second goal for the match and that makes 3-0. We resumed the match and in less than 10 minutes, the referee blew the alarm and the match ended. We won again. I walked over to where I kept my phone and shirt admist loud murmurs from my teammates and the other players. I unlocked my phone and saw that the time was 7:15pm. Someone slapped me at the back and I looked back to see Muhammed, the guy
Jade's POVWhen I think of the perfect marriage or the perfect love story, I think of my parents. How possible is it for couples to still look at each other with awe and love even after almost 24 years of marriage. I mean how many new couples these days even call themselves endearment like sweetheart, honey, Darling and Co. I can't keep gushing over my parent's love. I just can't wait to grow up and fall in love but love comes with a lot of responsibilities. Zee will shake her head at our parents and say'See these old people acting all lovey dovey oo. May God save my innocent eyes oo.'And I'll shake my head at her and laugh. It was love, what my parents shared and I believed it. But what birth the other? Is it love or is it Responsibility?Zee attended the wedding Dad had prohibited her from attending. I knew this because she told me and she swore me to secrecy
