Chapter 6

"Wow, is it really like that, Mom?" Regina stared with her innocent face.

"Yes, it is! Because I didn't see you waiting for your father, even though we've been waiting for his arrival all morning," Elizabeth said quickly.

Regina stared at her with a cold look, she had just found out that her stepmother was very sneaky. She was the one who helped her get dressed, but now she was lying to the count.

"Let's not quarrel here! It's not very nice to argue in front of the house, while it can spread all over the house!" Count Deptian rebuked coldly.

Deptian quickly stepped inside, leaving the three quarreling women behind.

Regina looked at Elizabeth and Selina sarcastically. "It's true what the Count said, fighting here is very unethical. Then I'll go to the Count first, because I'm the Count's real family!" Regina said in the last sentence.

Regina hoped that the two women would realize their position here, but it was impossible because they did not understand.

Regina walked gracefully into her residence, not looking back to where the two women she once cared about were. Regina wanted to meet the father she missed so much.

"Merry... where is Father?" Regina asked the servant who happened to be passing by.

"The count is in his study, miss," Merry replied.

Merry the waitress gave Regina a puzzled look, for usually the lady would call her father Count instead of Father, but now she did.

Regina walked a little faster to Deptian's study, wanting to give her father a big hug. No matter how violent the man was, Deptian was still Regina's biological father and her only family.

"Can I come in?" Regina knocked on the door, knowing that her father was very particular about manners.

"Yes!"

Regina heard the approval from behind the big door, which made her very happy. Because today she would meet her father after several years of not seeing him.

"What are you doing here?" Deptian looked at his daughter coldly.

"I just want to spend some time alone with Father, is that okay?" Regina made a pitiful face, hoping that Deptian would allow it.

Deptian coughed when he heard Regina mention Father after a long time, but his face returned to staring at the princess.

"I'm busy right now," Deptian refused.

Regina's face immediately turned dark, she had not expected to be rejected by her father, but she could not force Deptian to spend time with her.

"Okay, Father!"

"Father!" Selina came in without knocking.

She immediately hugged Deptian awkwardly, causing Regina to look at her half-sister sarcastically.

"Are you free today? I want to spend some time with you because it's been days since you came home and I've missed you!" Selina said as she released her hug from Deptian.

"Yes, Count, spend some time with us. Because the count hasn't been home for a long time." Elisabet stepped closer to her husband, passing Regina who was there.

Regina became gloomy, she was sure that Elisabet's wish would be accepted by Deptian, but she hoped that her father would not accept it. Besides, Regina was the one who asked first, so if Deptian didn't want to do it with her, Elizabeth should be rejected as well, if possible.

"How about it, Count? Would you like to spend some time alone with us?" Elisabet said in a half pushy way.

Elisabet couldn't wait to hear her husband's answer, but he didn't answer, instead he seemed to ignore both of them.

"So you want me to spend time with just the two of you?" Deptian wanted to make his hearing clear.

Elisabet just nodded happily, she was sure that he would accept her request right away. The woman gave a sarcastic look to Regina, who looked down sadly.

"Unfortunately, I promised Regina that I would spend some time with her today, so you're already late!" Deptian said while looking down at Regina.

Hearing the surprising answer from her father, Regina looked up at Deptian with a happy look, it turned out that her father had rejected Elisabet's request and accepted her invitation.

"What?" Elisabet was surprised and looked at Selina.

"What's wrong with you three? Didn't you all used to get along? But why are you acting like strangers today, since I arrived earlier, and now you're asking for my time separately!" Deptian looked at the three women in front of him with sharp eyes.

"I didn't do that!" replied Elisabet with a slow shake of her head.

As for Regina, she just listened silently to Elisabet's explanation to her father, she would not say anything to defend herself like Elisabet did now. Because it was very clear that her stepmother was lying, Deptian really hated lies from anyone, even if that person was family.

"You said you didn't do anything? Isn't it very clear that you neglected your role as a mother to Regina, because she's just your stepdaughter! You even walked in here past this child without any intention of greeting her!" Deptian said in a high tone, his eyes looking very angry, the veins in his neck tightened.

"I didn't mean to, but I didn't see her because Regina was in that corner." Elisabet said with a shaking voice.

Elisabet was now afraid to see the Count angry with her, he was a very scary man with blood red eyes. Anyone would tremble at the sight of those red eyes.

"And you, Regina?" Deptian turned to the princess, who had remained silent. "What is your defense now?"

Regina felt nervous when she looked into those red eyes, but she still tried to look calm while answering Deptian's question. After all, Deptian's red eyes had also been passed on to her, she would think she was looking into the mirror now.

"I just want to spend some time alone with you, because the words of Mom Elizabeth when you came here earlier made me feel sad. She was the one who put on my makeup to welcome you, but she denied it by saying she didn't know." Regina turned her face dramatically, even shedding tears on purpose to make it look even more pathetic.

Deptian was touched, but his face went back to looking at the three women in front of him. So Elizabeth and Selina could not say a word.
