Marcel's POV

I didn't bother looking up when the door to my study creaked open. Footsteps grew closer, but I waited patiently until I heard a voice.

"Alpha," it was Baron's voice, the leader of the men I had sent out to get Christina back for me.

"What is it?" I asked, not looking up.

"We brought her back," he replied in a monotonous voice.

Finally, I lifted my gaze. Not that I wasn't expecting them to, but it still sounded like good news.

"And where is she now?"

"She's being held by some guards outside," he replied. "I came to tell you so you can tell us if you would like to speak to her now or what judgment you would like us to pass out."

Funny. He, too, thought I was supposed to do something drastic to her for her actions. I guess everybody could see the insult that she had done so clearly.

I leaned back in my chair, my jaw tense. Suddenly, the calmness I had achieved in the 30 minutes since I went into my study so I could think straight evaporated. The anger I had buried surged to

Author's povMarcel sat at the table, reviewing drafts for the public verdict. He had to get up very early to do this and ensure everything was "top-notch" before it was sent out at midday. It was barely dawn, and the cool morning breeze from the window was pleasant. He stared at the heading placeholder "Luna" and shook his head. At least, this was a temporary arrangement. A knock broke his focus."Come in," he said tersely without looking up.The door opened, and Arun stepped in, holding a small, worn notebook. His expression was serious as he approached Marcel."Something was discovered near the site where Christina was found," he began, placing the book on the desk. It was found under a boulder."Marcel's eyes flicked to the item. It looked old and unremarkable, certainly not something that would draw his attention if it weren't brought to him."If I recall, it was that area where those men were sent out to get Christina back, so why is this just getting to me?" he asked."I asked

Christina's povAs I stirred awake, the first thing I felt was an ache in my limbs, a dull reminder of my failed escape. Memories came back in flashes: running through the woods in another form and seeing the world through different eyes, meeting my father, and taking notes from him. From there, everything went down in a spiral. Marcel's guards had gathered me, and just as I turned to speak to them, the cold iron of a dart pierced my side, a numbing sensation spreading through my veins. Now I am back. I blinked, staring at the scene and trying to remember exactly where I was. When I finally overcame the vertigo, I shifted my gaze from the familiar walls of my room in Marcel's estate, and that was when I saw him.Marcel was standing at the foot of my bed, his arms crossed over his broad chest, watching me with a conflicted expression. For a moment, I thought he was about to announce my punishment for what I did—and that would not be pleasant."Get up," he said in a low voice. This was

Marcel’s povMy arms moved to her waist, pulling her closer as her vanilla fragrance engulfed me. She felt small and comfortable, parting her soft lips slightly as I deepened the kiss.A surprising warmth coursed through me, stirring my wolf and something else within me—something I hadn't felt in a long while. As her hands moved over my chest, I felt their tremor, bringing me back to reality. I paused, catching myself."Christina," I said, my voice coming out in a low whisper. I took hold of her wrist, stopping her hands from moving any further, and held back slightly. Her eyes were shut, lips slightly swollen and still parted.I groaned, resisting the urge to kiss her again. She was shaking badly."What are you doing?" I asked, brows furrowing. Her eyes were shiny with unshed tears as she opened them, blinking slowly at me. "Isn't this what you wanted? Let's get over it so that I can be free."My jaw clenched as I realized what was going on. She was forcing herself, trying to submit

Christina's POV"Your back is too stiff," Luna Sandra said sharply, circling me. "A Luna must exude confidence, not rigidity. If you stand like that in front of a pack meeting, they'll think you're a servant, not a leader."I tried to relax my shoulders, but it wasn't easy under her scrutinizing gaze. Ever since my little stunt, I had been more scared of her presence. I remembered the way she had stepped forward as though she was ready to kill me in that instant, and now I was here in a room with her just two days later. I couldn't be blamed for being nervous. She, on the other hand, was harder on me now. It was like she was trying to prove a point to me, even though I had no idea what it was. Or perhaps she just hated me a bit more."You need to keep your chin up. That's the third time I've had to tell you," she added, her tone laced with irritation. Christina's POVKeeping my eyes on Rowan was not helping me think. He looked like he had already resigned himself to the worst possible punishment, and I knew that Marcel wanted me to pick the worst punishment. If I sentenced Rowan to death, would he kill him, or would he say it was too harsh?"Okay, how about a suspension?" I asked, hoping that this would count. "Maybe a one-month suspension before he's allowed to resume duties."I thought That was a good idea, a bit proud of myself. At least then, he would have the time to care for his mate.Marcel chuckled darkly, shaking his head. "You're too soft."I clenched my fists. "Then what do you suggest?"Marcel smirked, his eyes glinting with something dangerous. “Rowan will be stripped of his position as a patrol member. From now on, he will serve as a training dummy for our recruits."I stared at him, horrified. Even Rowan had a stricken expression on his face as he looked up. “You can't be serious!"A training dummy sounded like a p

The Silvermoon pack was known for its isolation. It was fiercely independent and detached from the hierarchy of the werewolf realm. It operated on its government and was out of my authority. Author's POVThe morning air was crisp as Christina stepped out of the pack house. This was her first time coming out since she got here, but she didn't have the energy to even admire her surroundings. All she could note was that the sun felt good on her skin. Her nerves were already stretched thin. The maids had spent the entire night packing and fussing over her, and she hadn't gotten much sleep. As she made her way to the sleek black car waiting for her and Marcel, she noticed a movement in an alcove at the side of the house. It looked like someone was beckoning her forward.Just as she reached the car door, her heart leaped as she realized who it was. Melissa was standing in the shadows, half-hidden by the morning light. She hadn't seen her stepsisters in days and was starting to worry about them. Marcel's POThe silence inside the car was suffocating. My fingers tapped against my thigh as I stared out the window, my mind racing. Christina was gone, taken right under my nose. I felt so insulted like I was suddenly incapable of protecting her.Even worse, I had no idea who had led that attack. Whoever they were, they had better get themselves ready for my revenge, which would be slow and brutal.Mirabel sat across from me, her face calm, but I could see the tension in her posture. She was waiting for me to speak, to decide what needed to be done."You're too quiet," she finally said, her voice careful. “What's on your mind, Alpha?"I clenched my jaw. "I'm trying to figure out the best course of action. Going to the Silver Moon Pack without her wasn't the plan."Mirabel exhaled slowly, folding her hands in her lap. "We can't afford to let this diplomatic mission fail. The Silver Moon Pack is outside your direct authority; this alliance is needed. If we delay or cancel the meetin
