Being Under Pressure

Alan's POV

I stood awkwardly in front of Mr. Romero, the air in the room heavy and tense. His office was cold and simple, with only a few expensive pieces of furniture placed around.

Despite how cool and expensive everywhere seemed, it still felt like I was surrounded by danger. My hands were sweaty, my throat was dry, and my stomach was twisted with fear and frustration. This was the last place I wanted to be, but there was no avoiding it today.

Romero sat behind his desk, his fingers drumming slowly on it as his dark eyes bored into mine.

He hadn’t said a word yet, but the silence was worse than anything he could have thrown at me. I had failed, and we both knew it.

That deal with Xeron Enterprise was supposed to be mine— ours. But it had slipped through my fingers, and now I was standing here like a schoolboy waiting for punishment.
