Chapter.ARABELLA POV.The ride back home was sort of silent. I didn’t follow the route of her house, knowing that I wanted to take her home to meet my kids. I wanted to catch up with her and at the same time, reform the friendship between them. If Lily had been suspicious of me all these while, then she had a good hunch.“What are you doing back here?” she spoke up in silence. “You were dead, Arabella.” She sniffed and continued. “At first I didn’t want to believe that you were dead, but you were! What happened?”“Can we go to my place and talk?”I asked, knowing that she won’t resist.Lily nodded. She was sniffing back her tears and I was trying so hard not to cry. Like her, no one knew where Dr. Emma (whom I was posing as) lived, so she’d of course want to see. When I got home and opened the door, laughter filled the air as the triplets jumped on me. I laughed, circling them in my arms and playing with their hair.“Mommy, you’re back!” Damon laughed wildly, and then he looked behi
MIA POV I was excited to head the party, but my mind was not at peace. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Emma said about Rhys cheating. No matter how I wanted to push it all behind him, I knew deep down that it was true. Rhys wasn’t my mate, he only believed that he was. What if he had discovered…? No, that wasn’t possible. The witch of a woman assured me that he would never notice the difference since his own maid was dead. I seethed with anger. If Emma was right and he was truly cheating on me, then I would find that girl and she would have the exact same fate as Arabella did. Not only would I kill her, but I would castrate her in front of the others. I started to bite my fingernails, but then I resisted and set my hands beside me. Rhys better not be cheating on me, because then he’d be mocking me. Imagine being the Luna of a pack whose husband was cheating on her. I would not have that. I walked to his room. I was about to knock on his door but then I stopped; what if he had
MIA POVHe pushed my face to the side, refusing to kiss me. The rejection stung deeply, especially when he started to drive right after he swung his face to the side. I relaxed in the passage seat, not saying anything. As much as I wanted to taunt and berate him for what he did, I also could not help it. It was his choice, and he wasn’t in love with me.The ride to the venue was silent and awkward. The minute we arrived, he plastered the biggest fake smile on his face and reached for my hand. I gave in, plastering a smile on my face too; mine more genuine than his.I just wanted him to see that I loved him, and I was the perfect person for him. No one else would love him the way that I did.The venue was beautiful, surprisingly. There was a large white cloth and a projector on the floor, acting as its screen. I looked around for the organizer; I didn’t remember asking for the screen projector to be brought in here. None of the organizers were in sight; they were either fixing somethin
ARABELLA POVEveryone was in a frenzy. Mia stood on the stage, frozen, while I smiled to myself at the corner. She had been on that stage for far too long, reeling and enjoying the multiple applause that she was receiving, which made me sick. While she rode in that silly high, her husband stared at me with eyes full of lust. I glanced at him occasionally and caught his eyes numerous times, practically stripping me of my dress, right from the moment I came into the space. That he looked at me with such lust filled gaze empowered me even further; I was so close to my goals, so very close. Mia thought she had won, when in actual fact this was just the beginning of her failure. She stood stunned on the stage, and I looked at Lily, who was grinning openly. My eyes met with Lily; she gave me a very subtle nod. Lily had pulled the projector to work when Mia started to ramble on and on about her husband on the stage. I rolled my eyes in disgust; he was the very man that she stole from me. I w
MIA POVThe ride back home was even more tense than the ride to the venue. I was very upset. Why hadn’t he defended me? Why did he make himself out to be a saint and I the bully? Why wasn’t he even putting any effort in this? I wanted to bring up the argument in the car, but I was so appalled that I decided to let it be for the time being. I would pour out all my anger when we got home.We got home in the next twenty minutes. The servant was laying up our food at the dining, just as Rhys asked them to when he called home. We both went straight to the dining and dived right into the food. I was famished, yet my anger lingered behind.I realized that he was going to remain silent if I let him, so I decided to bring it up myself.“What happened back there, Rhys?” I asked. He looked up at me from his dish. “What?”“Back at the party, what happened there? Why didn’t you stand up for me, fight for me?”He looked surprised that I even asked such a question. “Mia, the best thing to have told
ARABELLA POVI smiled to myself for the umpteenth time. This was a big win for me; one of the biggest win I would have, in fact. The look on her face, my gosh! The number of times I would love to repeat that scene over and over just to see the look on her face!I smiled contentedly and walked around the kitchen, putting the dirty plates and cups into the dishwasher.I have great plans, and boy would I love to show those plans one by one. This was just a step to the so many things I wanted to do. With Lily by my side and now aware of my identity, she would be of great help. I paused mid air, reminding myself to talk to Jenny about the DNA test results. It’s been two days since I spoke to her last and I swear she said she’ll have it ready the very next day. The extra two days that occurred without me having the results made me antsy; I would have to hit her up later and demand for it.“Mommy?”I jumped. Then I turned, hissing as I soon realized that it was Damon. This son of mine seemed
ARABELLA POV“What did you just say?” He asked.“Lily,” I repeated slowly. “You know, the one that’s Arabella’s friend?”His hand shook a little, and then he concealed it. I frowned slightly when he didn’t reply to me.“Don’t you know her?” I asked. “I swear that she said she’s been in your proximity before.”Rhys held up both his palms in the air, trying to understand what was going on. Finally he asked:“What are you doing speaking to Lily?”I shrugged nonchalantly. “She’s my new friend; she seems to be the only person who’s really honest, you know? Though we haven’t spoken much.”“What did you two speak about? Matter of fact, you know that associating with Lily will only make Mia upset.”I arched my eyebrow, making him see the sarcastic expression on my face. Rhys chuckled and continued.“That isn’t what I mean, Emma. All I’m saying is, Mia is enemies with a few people and I think you should lay off those people.”“Oh please, this is bullshit.I opened the back door of my bedroom a
MIA POVI desperately wanted to burst into that house, maybe break down the door in the process, but I already promised Craig that I was going to wait until he arrived. I don’t know why he was so adamant about seeing me, considering that I had chased my husband here and needed his advice on whether I should attack or not.“Do not attack, wait there for me so I can access the situation for you, you hear?” Craig had demanded a few minutes ago.I don’t know how long I would have to wait for him to appear, but hopefully not long enough. It’s just so tiring trying to keep up with a lot of things… especially Rhys. The hood of my car bumped and I shrieked. Craig slipped his hand by the open window, opened the car, and slid into the seat. “You can’t just scare me like that,” I said to him, exasperated and breathing harshly. He smiled charmingly at me. “Mia, you’re not some lady, you can handle anyone who tries to hurt you.”“Except for Alpha,” I bit out.We both simultaneously looked at th
