chapter 57

Sierra pov.

Three days had passed after I had dug the ground and buried my mother inside.

I still could not believe that my mother was gone, and I could no longer see her.

I sat in my mother's favorite chair, not moving an inch. I had been sitting there, crying, refusing to stand up. All I wanted was to know who did this to my mother.

I remembered how the village had yelled, calling me a witch. I could feel the accusations, blaming me for my mother's death. And even now, the pain still consumed me from within.

I looked down at the ground, feeling my heart pounding rapidly. This wasn't what I wanted. This wasn't the dream I had envisioned.

I remained in that position for an hour until I heard the sound of a door opening and footsteps approaching. I thought it was Henry, so I yelled, "Go away!"

I didn't hear him say anything, but then I heard another familiar voice.
