"What's going on here?" Just as Emily's voice reached a fever pitch, a smooth, familiar voice cut through the chaos. I turned to see Alex standing by the side, his calm demeanor commanding attention.

His eyes scanned the scene, taking in Emily's disheveled state and my nonchalant stance. A mix of surprise and guilt crossed his features as he stared at me. He took a step forward toward me ignoring Emily who was watching him, red from anger.
