If he can't control her no matter what he do and no matter how he try to scare her then it leaves him no choice. He thought that Adeline would feel a little bit scared at him, as he noticed that everytime he catches the woman looking at him he will look at her emotionless or threw a dagger look at her, she would lower down her head. But he guess wrong.
He is used to see the woman as kind and timid to it's friends and like a scared cat when she's with him but seeing her and being with her in one house realized that she isn't the same Adeline he knew before.
