Chapter 4: Unwanted Proofs.
Driven by curiosity, Kurt had lay back his decision to throw her out and wanting to hear what she has to say.She had mentioned about knowing who Lisa cheated on him with, would be fair for him to know the person was at least.Henceforth, the given chance to spill.“Who owns her pregnancy?” Kurt questioned, acquiring a stagnant pose with his arms crossing over his chest.“You know when I first found out, I was so shock-““Go straight to the point and stop beating around the bush. Who got her pregnant? Either you say the name or get the fuck out.” He censured in a stern voice, his facial housing an unfriendly expression.“Alright. Callan Myers. Your business rival.” She told him.Kurt knitted his brows, a bit awed by the name mentioned to him but quickly masking it with a blank expression.“You said you have proofs, where are your proofs? You just don’t expect me believing my wife truly has anything to do with that Lucifer unless your claim is heavily backed up. Have never even seen them interact, not once not twice. So what rubbish are you really talking about?” Kurt spurred with growing anger.Something in him doubted the snake in front of him, he might have believed her if she mentioned a name belonging to someone else that is not his rival. If anything, he knew how much Lisa hated Callan. Lisa loved him to the point of hating whoever he hates and loving whoever he loves, he hated Clint and so does Lisa. Now it doesn’t make quite the sense with her saying otherwise.“You want proof, I sure can give you that.” She said, turning around as she marched off towards the stairs, ascending it in a quick pace before her figure vanished from the sight.Kurt scoffed from where he stood, the anger in his face poofing off as he began pacing around the space where he was.His mind wailed to Lisa, how could he have got himself roped into this mess. This was his fault, he should have been well guarded around Rhea.It was no surprise that she took advantage of his drunken state the other night, she had always harbor romantic feelings for him. They use to be tangled, not in a romantic way, but of a mutual interest in each other, what they both were offering each other. They were fuck buddies, mixing pleasures with professions. It was recently he cut it all off with her, after he had fallen for his wife finally, he decided to be loyal and stay committed, thus erasing the filthy part of his personality. However, Rhea disagreed with that decision, she wanted Kurt all to herself. She was happy when Kurt hated Lisa, but became bitter and angry when Kurt fell in love with her and call it quit on their own.Since she had secretly abhorred Lisa’s existence and scheme seriously on how to break them apart. Kurt stopped pacing around as he came to a stop, his teeth plunge out and sucking deep into his bottom lips in regret. Had he know, he wouldn’t have agree to celebrate with Rhea yesterday. He recalled to the moment he had with Lisa just awhile ago, the look on her face as she yanked her wrist away from him exiting his home. He was at the verge of shedding tears. He doesn’t want to lose her, he couldn’t bare loosing her. He had to get her back on way or the other, if he has to beg her from the start of today till the end of a decade, he’s ready to take on the challenge. He just doesn’t want to lose her.Kurt glanced down at himself, thinking about his phone so he could phone Lisa. He realized he was still naked with only a blanket wrapped around his lower body parts. He rushed upstairs, back to his room. And there he met Rhea almost coming out.She was about talking to him when he raised a finger in her face, stopping her from spewing whatever she was about spewing as he rushed over to the bed.Soon he retrieved his phone and began calling Lisa, he called her the first time and she didn’t pick up, he did the second time and third and to over to the seventh time, still no respond from her.He sighed, deciding to try for the eighth time, hoping fervently that this time she would pick and at least hear him out.Fortunately, the dial picked at the third ring.“Lisa please before you end the call or tell me you never want to have anything to do with me again for the rest of your life, I did nothing with Rhea. I can swear to you, nothing I was aware of or in control of-““This is not Lisa speaking sir.” A male voice had to interrupt him to stop him from blabbering on and on to the wrong person.“Who is this? Where is my wife? Who are you?” He questioned afterwards the interruption, now confused on why Lisa’s phone would be picked by a stranger.“This is Leo, and your wife, Lisa. She had an accident and right now getting treated, I’m not her doctor or anything but I brought her to the hospital. I just delivered her to a doctor and nurses to take care of her.” He explained himself on the phone, clearing out whatever confusion was bothering Kurt.He became tensed at the heard of his wife engaged in an accident. “What did you say happen to my wife?” He quizzed for confirmation, becoming unsettled as he went into his closet.“She had an accident, it’s not that fatal but I already took her to the hospital Incase there’s any need for medical attention. I didn’t know the person calling her phone was her husband, I would have picked since. And I just arrived at the hospi-““Send me right now the address of that hospital. I’m coming over.” Kurt wasn’t in for his useless detailing on what happened, he had to butt to request what he urgently need as he forced himself into fitting in the wears he picked out.He came out dressed already as he marched over to where he placed his car keys. “By the time I’m back, I want your bitchy ass gone and out of my apartment. And don’t you dare bother coming to the office, you’re as good as fired. Come anywhere near me again and I’m throwing your ass in jail!” He stopped in front of Rhea, passing the words out coldly on her face before running off and away from her.Rhea snorted with a shrug as she smacked her lips, “You bet you would.” She said, leaving the entrance where she stood to get herself freshened up and to leave his home. She hadn’t taken more than three steps when her phone began ringing, it was a private number but with the look on her face, she must be acquainted with the caller.“Sup with you Cal? I’m not really in a good mood this morning. So you better have a good reason for calling me.” She spoke into the phone in a frustrated voice, taking a seat on the bed with her a sigh escaping her mouth.“Well I wanted to inform you that it is ready.”“It is!” She responded sharply with a new look morphing on her face.“Yeah and you can come get it.”“Hell yeah I’m coming. I was just thinking of how I might have lost Kurt forever, and your news came through for me. Oh you have no idea how happy I am.” She said within her excitement, shooting out of her sitting position as she walked towards the bathroom.“Didn’t he believe those proofs? And was the outcome of your plan that flat?” The guy on the phone asked.“You don’t just worry. Everything is going to be just fine.” Rhea told him in an uncanny soft voice, bringing the phone down as she tapped on the icon that hangs up the call. She scrolled straight to her messaging application, clicking on the tab labeling Kurt and forwarding hïm screenshots as well as pictures containing Lisa and Callan Myers in the shots.“You want proofs, there is your proofs.” She said to herself, smiling at the screen of her phone displaying gf her handiwork.“And if this is not enough still, well then I think it is high time I take the bitch out once and for all. I’ve literally been patient for too long.” Her brows rested, alongside her facials as a new look sprouted on her face.A devilish face edged with a smirk, hinting on the dangerous idea manufacturedyt in her mind as she gaped psychotically at her reflection in the bathroom’s mirror.Chapter 5: Face From The Past. Lisa was still in shock with her lips parted in a wide gasp when the room door bursted open, the least unexpected person sauntering through the door. “Kurt!” Her voice deepened with disgust as she called his name. Kurt who just came in ignore the strange eyes present in the room and went straight to his wife, “I came as soon as I heard. How did this happen?-““Get out Kurt!” She shunned at him, tone rolling out her irritation as she cast him a repulsive glance. He halted on his tracks, inches away from where Lisa laid on the bed. “I think this is our cue to excuse them.” A man whispered out from behind to another to passed on the information. At once they turned around, departing from the scene and leaving Kurt alone with his wife except for Leo who was still present. He was originally the one who passed out the sentence to excuse the room. He went to the bed, “Here are your things, the ones I picked earlier from your car.” He told her before drop
Chapter 6: An Anonymous Call. Lisa halted on her walking tracks, his recent words repeating all over in her brain at a dingy solo sound. If she heard correctly, he just claimed to be her brother and to have been searching for her for quite the year. She turned around, her paled expression coming to face him to see the seriousness gashing his face. He was serious with his claim. “What are you talking about?” She asked, still believing she heard wrong of what the strange man who saved her mentioned. There was no way he was being serious, how could she have a brother. She was the last and the only survivor of The Carter family, where did he come from, he must be joking. “We should talk, I can drive you back to your car. There we’ll discuss all that is there to know.” He proffered, coming to a stop ahead of her. Lisa gaped with confusion. Of course she needed illumination to whatever he might be insinuating about so she accepted to take his ride. Throughout the walk back to the ca
Chapter 7: Obsessed It Seems. Kurt had just gotten his heart shattered into a million pieces, he stood there with a droopy aura drowning his entire soul. Lisa had just walked out on him and he has no idea how to beg, what else to do? He knew nothing about how he arrived on that bed with Rhea. He could swear, but Lisa was done believing him. His phone vibrated with a ding repeatedly in his pockets, series of messages popping into the phone made him snapped out of his hurting moment. He brought out his phone and all the notifications were derived from a single person who sent him multiple texts. He scrolled open his phone, tapping on the message bar to see the pictures that were forwarded to him from his secretary, Rhea. A message was then attached at the end of the pictures. “You want proof, there is your proofs.” The text screened in his vision, he read the message before going through the pictures. It was his wife, captured together with his enemy. Callan Myers. He swiped thr
Chapter 8: Brother With The Past. Lisa was uncannily quiet throughout the ride to Leo’s home. She had her mind occupied by the strange call she received a while back with a very familiar voice uttering quite the threatening statement. She was threatened and was stuck wondering who was behind it. Leo halted his motioning car to a stop at a nicely marked garage, stepping out of the car as he ushered Lisa to do the same. He led her straight into his well structured and modernized home, upon walking through the door a middle aged woman showed up. “Mr Woods.” The woman bowed her head, greeting him. “Mrs Elle, this is my sister. Lisa, and Lisa, this is the housekeeper. She’s very nice and I see her more than what she is, if you need anything, just go straight to her.” He made the introduction, glancing from both the woman to Lisa. “Nice to meet you ma’am, I’m Lisa Brig-“ she paused within her sentence, her instantly turning droopy as she realized the name she was about addressing hers
Chapter 9: Vengeance Screams Louder. Lisa hesitated in picking the call, wanting to ignore it because his voice is the last thing she wants to hear at the moment. But then changed her mind to hear the rubbish he has to spew. She picked the call, “Hello,” she forced the word out of her mouth, coming out unfriendly. “You never told me Callan was the man.” A solemn voice dimmed from the phone, the sound tipping Lisa off a small edge. Seems like their separation is taking a toll on Kurt already, but then her mind referred back to his statement. She never told him Callan was the man. Who is Callan? What does it have to do with their situation? What about him is he talking about?“What are you talking about?” She quested for illumination, her brows knitting in confusion. “Don’t play dumb, Lisa. I know everything now, your secret affair with Callan Myers, I know even he’s the owner of your child. I just don’t get the reason why you never told me and rather allow me fall in love with yo
Chapter 10: Contacting His Nemesis. Lisa’s mind relish her moment on phone with Kurt, his bitter words chanting beneath her ears. A litany. Animating her as she mapped upon the veneers of her heart her intended plans for Kurt. He had accused her of an affair with Callan Myers, she might as well launch her revenge from him. A smirk edged her lips at the thought of that, knowing very well who Callan Myers is. The man topping the list of those blacklisted CEOs of Atlanta, he was canceled due to a scandal leaked by no one else other than Kurt, his rival to tame and destroy his nemesis forever. They’ve been at it for quite a long time, ever since Kurt dredged a secret kept by Callan. The secret gaining awareness of Kurt’s knowledge slammed an axe into his bond with Callan. Both were best friends, best of friends, and overnight became enemies. Caught up in the city’s hustle and bustle playing a game of cat and mouse, that was until Kurt grasped a good hold of him and put him down. Ca
Chapter 11: Someone’s A Mess. He sat by the executive chair, slouched down with a bottle half-filled with alcohol hanging down his left hold, while the second slammed his phone into his chest. He had just gotten off the phone with his now Ex Wife, she wouldn’t listen to him, wouldn’t believe him, and worst of all- was cheating on him with someone she’s very sure, he despised with all that runs through his body. That had his heart shattering more than it was before when Lisa demanded a separation. He dragged the bottle of whiskey, pulling it up to his mouth for a heavy gulp when his eyes closed and a tear slid out without consent, rolling down his cheeks as he graced the surface with his palm; cleaning off the particle displaying his emotional state. Kurt placed the bottle he was holding down, deciding it was time to sober up and move on with his life. He has a company to run, and millions of dollars to earn. But the harsh thought of him doing it without the picture of his wife s
Chapter 12: Visiting Callan Myers. Lisa had just finish her meal, she was clearing the tray when her door pushed open, she glanced up to see Leonard slipping through. “Yeah I should learn the habit of knocking.” He reprimanded softly, referencing to himself before coming in fully. Lisa casted an offensive glance, returning her attention to packing up. “Thanks for the hospitality.” Her voice penetrated the awful silence, sliding off her bed as she slipped back into her shoes. “Incase you need to change, I have some wears in that closet. They’re not for females, but would do for a casual appearance at home. You can freshen up and get more comfortable.” He indicated to his statement, hands pointing out in two direction, one at the door of the bathroom and the other at the closet. “Thank-“ her phone pinged, snatching her attention away from Leo. Her head fell to look into her phone, seeing it was a text from Steve. He was done digging and sent to her all the acquired details about h
Chapter 44: Some Facts And Threats. Cole thrown in a dazed mood, stared around, retracted his hand and tried to understand Kurt’s words. He did just referred Lisa as his wife, so his words needed to be understood. And if he wasn’t looking wrong, he’s staring at the well known Kurt Briggs. When was Kurt Briggs ever married? So Kurt Briggs has a wife. It’s shocking for him. “What are you doing here, Kurt?” Lisa trailed her darkened eyes up to look at him, to show him just how much he’s bothering the flow of her peace: “Call it instinct, wasn’t this dude hitting on you?” He grilled, his feisty gaze focused on Cole. “Do you know him? Is he really your husband? What is going on-““You can shove those questions right back where they came from, and instead tell me the reason why you were touching someone that doesn’t belong to you?” Kurt closed the space separating them, his tone more rough and his hand fisted. He leveled Cole a daring glare, as if daring him to utter the wrong word. L
Chapter 43: Danger For The Stranger.Throughout Lisa’s ride to the club where her friend was, waiting for her. One thing pressured her thinking box, her encounter back at Leo’s mansion with a possible captive. She didn’t want to believe what she heard, or the strange moments that was with Mrs Elle; she was all edgy compare to her usual self. Lisa arrived at the club, sauntering her way through the sweaty crowds downstairs till she got to the spot secured for their outing by her friend. It was space inside the VIP’s lobby. “Lisa!!!” Jules called out once her gaze met with Lisa’s. Springing to her feet with her arms stretched wide, calling Lisa in for a hug. “Come here girl, it’s been so long,” she wheezed, gleaming with glee. They chattered quite briefly before taking their seats, “So I have two more friends on their way, and this is going to be your first time meeting them. Where I met them or where they’re from is not important at the moment, what’s important is,” she paused, whi
Chapter 42: Captive In The House. Lisa reached for her phone, tapping it open to read whatever message she received. Her eyes paled reading the text, it was from an anonymous sender, making yet another threat. “What are their names again? Steve and Joanna. Stay away from Kurt or they die!” She exhaled audibly, glancing around at the unease settling in her system as she dropped her phone. This was becoming more than she can handle, and there is no one she could reach out to for help. She’d lost appetite for her lunch, putting it all aside with the half emptied juice. Her phone buzzed where she tossed it, ringing up in the silence. Lisa heaved a groan before picking it up, the caller contact screening Jules. “Tell me you’re getting ready or that you haven’t changed your mind?” Her gleeful voice sounded on the phone. Tugging on Lisa’s emotions. She wanted the happiness, the excitement Jules was currently feeling. Her feelings are shacked into a void filled with darkness and dept
Chapter 41: An Overall Shadiness.Although she never wanted to accept any gift from him, or allow him get her the jewelry he planned to buy. However, after seeing the pedi-white colored ring, made out of crystal, with beautiful gemstones adoring the edges. And an emerald green thin necklace made out of gem, plus the purple and black designed bracelet. All worrying close to ten million dollars, she couldn’t refuse it. He got it all with just a swipe of his credit card, handing it over to her before he driving her off to a florist shop. He bought her a new bouquet of Iris flowers, with gold dusts sprinkled all over it giving the beauty a much more elegant feel and look. There wasn’t another stop next, he dropped her off at Leo’s mansion and finally left her alone, waving her goodbye and expecting to see her tomorrow at the office; with her bodyguard sacked of course. Lisa retired straight to her room, slamming her body straight on her body while heaving a long heavy sigh. Her flow
Chapter 40: A Petty Gesture.Lisa had no option than to call an ambulance over to help Callan’s pitiful state. He only allowed her made the sky. Thereafter, he took her bag from where it was dumped and volunteered to hold it. He also offered his bloody hand for her to hold, a gesture she refused in a blink, glaring hard at him as they both boarded the elevator. They arrived at the first floor, the company’s employees were starting to clear out, but those who were present witnessed the whole new boss helping his secretary with her handbag and the knuckles of his hands filled with blood. They could only stare, unable to mutter a single word of gossip as both pair departed their gaze. “Your bodyguard is parked there, time to go fulfill your promise.” Kurt pointed out to a familiar vehicle, making his statement. “I can’t, I’m not the one who hired him. It was my brother, when I get back home, I will talk to him about firing him and how he is a danger if on our way home you’re going to
Chapter 39: The Toxic Side Of Jealousy “Oh mine, thank you so much!” Lisa fumed out a fake well contorted excitement, reaching out to collect the gifts when it was smacked away. Kurt’s hand withdrew to himself afterwards, he went over to where the bouquet fell and the bag. In visible rage, he jumped on the flowers, stomping on it till it was smashed to pieces. He then took the gift bag, check out what was inside and it was an Hermes golden bracelet neatly placed in a box. All together with the box, he threw it out of the glassy window, creating a hole through the glass. Anger radiated from his presence when he returned to where Callan stood standing across where Lisa seated. “What was my warning?” He seethed, in a grim tone as he launched a folded fist into his face. Lisa gasped, totally not expecting all he was doing from him, she expected a much more reserved reaction. She had never seen a jealous side of Kurt before, because it took so long even experience his love. She nev
Chapter 38: Two Sides To A Coin. “Pardon?” Again, she also expressed her shock. “And who are you to demand that might I ask? Like I’m very sure you know you being my boss doesn’t stretch over to my personal affairs?” She backed her point, taking an offensive stance against him. “He’s a danger to your safety, so I suggest you do by my order and indeed fire him. I wouldn’t be asking you to do this if it isn’t crucial, it’s crucial to your safety. I can’t share more than I already share, sack him and get him far away from you if you want to be safe. If you don’t do that, then you’re in danger. He is not who he said he is, a skilled bodyguard assigned to protect you I mean, he’s a formidable assassin posing as the protector when he is in fact the danger. You can go!” Instant he dropped his attention back to the system he was operating on, having no interest in a further conversation with Lisa about his demand. He purposely did that, to make sure he did the right thing. Asking her to s
Chapter 37: His Pesty Appearance. Lisa furrowed her brows, her gaze narrowing a confused look. “What do you mean not possible? I said I’m not interested in working here anymore.” She rephrased. “No!” He sharply declined just after she made the statement. “Why?” Lisa flummoxed at his sharp declination, he had just stated for her not to mix up their personal vendetta with profession, yet that seem exactly like what he’s doing. “Because Ms Carter, you can’t just quit on your boss all of a sudden or out of the blue. You need to at least inform me days before I concur with such decision, then a resignation letter needs to be submitted for me to review and approve. Yes I said approve, because things here will be changing to exactly how I want it to be. Employees can now only quit by my approval, and that is after certain steps have been carried out. Today is a long day, Ms Carter, I suggest we get to work. Go on to your desk, I will call you when you’re needed.” He came up with a long e
Chapter 36: Her New Boss“Hello? Lisa! Earth to you!” Leo waved in her face, bringing her back to consciousness with a snap as she’s far into her imagination. Lisa blinked, becoming aware of her surroundings. She looked up at the man in front of her, flashing him a sweet smile. “I’m going to work and I wanted to let you know, but I chickened out as I wanted to knock.” She came up with a smooth explanation, retaining her smile. “It’s fine, just make sure to remain safe and away from trouble. Wyatt, your bodyguard told me what happened yesterday. I don’t want anything happening to you, so try to keep yourself safe in anyway you can. For instance, don’t go talk to strangers who are following you except the person is Wyatt.” He admonished, coating his words with both concern and care. For a split second, Lisa caught herself burying her doubts. That the man talking to her is a true human being, and not shady like she just found out. Nothing on his face, by his words hinted on what he m
