Calla froze when she saw Mercer standing outside the door, dressed in a black shirt. Realizing the situation, she quickly tried to close the door.

But Mercer pushed the door open and stepped past Calla into the house.

"Mercer, what do you want?" Calla felt a bit intimidated; she hadn't expected him to find her here.

Mercer glanced around the room before coldly saying, "So, you're hiding out at Pierre's place? Have you no shame? You're a single woman, living together with a single man! Aren't you concerned about the rumors this might cause?"

His accusation angered Calla, but she maintained her composure. Knowing she couldn't drive him away, she turned and sat on the couch.

Then, she spoke in a nonchalant, indifferent tone. "Both Pierre and I are single, so what's wrong with us living together? This is heaps better than a married man who can't even keep his pants zipped!"

"You—" Mercer was at a loss for words, his gaze growing dark and menacing.
