Realizing that Harlan didn't grasp the meaning behind her words, Calla smiled. "Yes, you've done well in those aspects," she said. "But Zoey needs more than these material things. She needs your care and affection."

Harlan frowned slightly, and the atmosphere grew tense.

Calla didn't beat around the bush. "I've been here for a few days, and I've noticed you haven't been as attentive to Zoey as a husband should. Maybe you should think about how you can show her more love and care during this time."

Harlan lowered his head and stayed silent for a moment. After a few seconds, he suddenly looked up, gazing at Calla with peculiar intensity.

"Calla, don't you know why Zoey and I got married? I don't love her. How do you expect me to be enthusiastic about all this? Are you asking me to lie to her and pretend to care when I don't?"
