Hearing those nonsensical words, Calla felt utterly defeated. She pointed at Mercer and cursed, "You must be out of your mind."

"Say whatever you want," Mercer replied. "I almost wish I were losing my mind." With that, he turned, walked over to the couch, sat down, and lit a cigarette. Smoke quickly curled above his head, adding to the melancholy and despondency that now seemed to define him—so different from the man he used to be.

Not wanting to ponder if he was mentally ill, Calla grabbed her bag and spat out in anger, "Mercer, you're a bastard! I never want to see you again."

With that, she turned and fled the luxurious suite as fast as she could.

After stepping out of Kaisier Grand Hotel, Calla felt exhausted. To make matters worse, she was in physical pain.

It was only after exiting the revolving doors of the hotel that she realized she had left her underwear behind in his room in her haste. The thought of going back to retrieve it was out of the question; she'd rather leave
