Zane's POV

I sat in my room, staring at my phone, listening to Belle’s voicemail for what felt like the hundredth time. It had been over a week since the hospital incident, and each time I tried to reach her, I was met with the same automated message.

“Hi, this is Belle. I can’t come to the phone right now. Please leave a message, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”

I ended the call, frustration boiling inside me. Was she alright? Why wasn’t she answering? My thoughts spiraled as I dialed Kamille and Amanda, putting them on a conference call.

“Hello Zane. Everything alright?” Kamille answered first, her voice tinged with curiosity.

“Not really . I’ve got Amanda on the line too,” I said.

“What’s going on, Zane?” Amanda’s voice chimed in.

I took a deep breath and began explaining everything that had happened since Belle’s miscarriage caused by her fiancé, Dave, to the way her family treated her, and now my inability to reach her.
