Chapter 7

As the days went by, Adelaide and Lucas's relationship continued to blossom. They spent every spare moment together, and Adelaide couldn't help but feel like she was falling deeply in love with him.

But not everyone was happy about their reunion. Sarah, Adelaide's best friend, was furious when she found out that Adelaide had taken Lucas back.

"Are you kidding me?" Sarah exclaimed, her voice shaking with anger. "After everything he did to you, you're just going to forgive him and take him back? That's insane, Adelaide!"

Adelaide felt a surge of defensiveness, and she stood up to Sarah. "You don't understand, Sarah," she said, her voice firm. "Lucas is different now. He's changed, and he's truly sorry for what he did. I love him, Sarah, and I'm not going to give up on him."

Sarah's face turned red with rage. "You're blinded by love, Adelaide," she spat. "You're not seeing the real Lucas. He's manipulating you, using you for his own gain. Wake up, Adelaide, before it's too late!"

Adelaide felt a sting from Sarah's words, but she refused to back down. She knew that she had made the right decision in taking Lucas back, and she was willing to fight for their love.

"I'm not going to argue with you about this, Sarah," Adelaide said, her voice cold. "If you can't accept my decision, then maybe we shouldn't be friends."

Sarah's eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, the two friends just stared at each other. Then, without a word, Sarah turned and walked away, leaving Adelaide standing alone.

Adelaide felt a pang of sadness, but she knew that she had made the right decision. She was willing to fight for her love, even if it meant losing her best friend.

As she walked away from the argument, Adelaide felt a sense of determination wash over her. She was going to make her relationship with Lucas work, no matter what it took.

And as she walked, Lucas appeared by her side, his arm wrapping around her waist. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.

Adelaide smiled, feeling a sense of comfort with Lucas by her side. "Just a fight with Sarah," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lucas's eyes narrowed, and he pulled Adelaide closer. "Don't worry about it," he said. "You're with me now, and I'll take care of you. Forever."

Adelaide felt a shiver run down her spine as Lucas's words washed over her. She knew that she had made the right decision in taking him back, and she was excited to see what the future held for them.

But as they walked off into the sunset, Adelaide couldn't shake the feeling that Sarah's words had left a lingering doubt in her mind. Was Lucas truly changed, or was he just manipulating her again? Only time would tell.

As Adelaide and Lucas walked across the campus, hand in hand, Adelaide couldn't help but notice the attention they were receiving. Every girl they passed seemed to turn around and stare at Lucas, their eyes filled with admiration and envy.

Adelaide felt a pang of insecurity, wondering if Lucas was still interested in her, or if he was just using her to satisfy his ego. But as she looked up at Lucas, she saw that he was gazing back at her, his eyes filled with affection and adoration.

"You're the only one I see, Adelaide," Lucas whispered, as if reading her mind. "You're the only one who matters to me."

Adelaide's heart skipped a beat as she smiled up at Lucas, feeling a sense of reassurance wash over her. She knew that she was lucky to have him by her side, and she was determined to make their relationship work.

As they continued to walk across campus, Adelaide noticed that the attention they were receiving wasn't just from the girls. The guys were staring too, their eyes filled with a mix of admiration and intimidation.

Lucas seemed to sense the tension, and he squeezed Adelaide's hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, I've got you," he whispered. "No one is going to hurt you while I'm around."

Adelaide felt a surge of gratitude towards Lucas, and she leaned in close to him, feeling safe and protected in his presence.

As they approached the student union building, Adelaide saw a group of girls gathered outside, staring at Lucas with open mouths. One of them, a tall blonde, caught Adelaide's eye, and Adelaide felt a pang of recognition.

It was Rachel, the girl who had been flirting with Lucas at the party. Adelaide felt a surge of jealousy, but Lucas seemed to sense it, and he pulled her close, his arm wrapping around her waist.

"Hey, don't worry about her," Lucas whispered, his breath hot against Adelaide's ear. "She's just a friend, and she knows better than to mess with me."

Adelaide felt a surge of reassurance, and she smiled up at Lucas, feeling grateful for his protection and affection. But as they walked into the student union building, Adelaide couldn't shake the feeling that Rachel was still watching them, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and resentment.

As Adelaide and Lucas walked through the student union building, Adelaide caught sight of Sarah sitting at a table, sipping on a coffee. Adelaide's heart skipped a beat as she felt a pang of guilt and hurt.

She had been avoiding Sarah since their argument, and she knew that their friendship was still strained. But as she looked over at Sarah, Adelaide saw that her friend was staring straight at her, a look of hurt and anger on her face.

Adelaide felt a surge of emotion, and she wanted to go over and talk to Sarah, to try and repair their friendship. But as she looked up at Lucas, she saw that he was watching her, his eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and concern.

"Hey, do you want to go get some lunch?" Lucas asked, his voice low and gentle.

Adelaide hesitated, unsure of what to do. She didn't want to ignore Sarah, but she also didn't want to deal with the drama and tension that had been building between them.

As she stood there, frozen in indecision, Sarah stood up and walked away, her back straight and her head held high. Adelaide felt a pang of hurt and regret, knowing that she had just let her friend walk away without even trying to talk to her.

"Hey, are you okay?" Lucas asked, his voice filled with concern.

Adelaide nodded, trying to brush off the emotions that were swirling inside of her. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said, forcing a smile onto her face.

But as they walked away, Adelaide couldn't shake the feeling that she had just lost something precious, something that she might never be able to get back. She had let her friendship with Sarah slip away, all because of Lucas.

And as she looked up at Lucas, Adelaide couldn't help but wonder if he was worth it. Was he worth losing her best friend, her confidante, her partner in crime?

As they walked out of the student union building, Adelaide felt a sense of uncertainty wash over her. She didn't know what the future held, or if she had made the right decision in choosing Lucas over her friend.

But one thing was for sure: Adelaide knew that she would never forget the pain and hurt that she had caused Sarah, and she would always wonder what could have been if she had made a different choice.

As they walked through the corridors, Lucas suddenly stopped and greeted a group of friends. They were all laughing and joking around, and Lucas seemed to forget about Adelaide's presence.

He let go of her hand and turned his back to her, completely absorbed in the conversation with his friends. Adelaide stood there, silently watching them, feeling a bit awkward and invisible.

But what struck her as odd was that Lucas didn't even introduce her to his friends. He just ignored her, like she wasn't even there. Adelaide felt a pang of disappointment, but she pushed it aside, telling herself that it was okay.

After all, Lucas was a popular guy, and he had a lot of friends. Maybe he just didn't want to introduce her to all of them at once. Or maybe he was just caught up in the moment and forgot about her.

Adelaide tried to rationalize his behavior, but deep down, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was somehow less important to Lucas than his friends.

As she stood there, watching Lucas laugh and joke with his friends, Adelaide felt a sense of unease creeping up inside her. She wondered if she was just a secret girlfriend, someone Lucas only acknowledged when it was convenient for him.

But despite these doubts, Adelaide stayed by Lucas's side, silently observing him as he interacted with his friends. She didn't want to make a scene or draw attention to herself, so she just stood there, smiling and nodding along with the conversation.

After a few minutes, Lucas finally remembered Adelaide's presence and turned around to face her. "Hey, sorry about that," he said, flashing her a charming smile. "I got caught up in the conversation."

Adelaide smiled back at him, trying to brush off the feeling of being ignored. "It's okay, I understand," she said, trying to sound casual.

But as they continued walking through the corridors, Adelaide couldn't shake off the feeling that she was somehow less important to Lucas than his friends. And she wondered if she was just fooling herself by thinking that he truly cared about her.
