Thankfully, Mindy missed Portia’s wink and snorted. “Are we talking about the same person?”

Portia frowned, but empathy was in her eyes. “I know he can be a tough egg,” she held her hand toward me. “Kelsey would know, she was the longest secretary he’d ever had.” Her head turned to me. “You must have seen his nicer side, at some point while you were directly working with him.”

I bit my lip, discomfort causing me to fidget in my seat. I had seen the sweet side to Mack, but no one here was supposed to know that. Not wanting to appear overly interested, I picked at my nail. “He has his moments.”

“Kelsey always tries to find the good in people,” Mindy grumbled. “She won’t say a bad thing about anyone. I, on the other hand, think he treats his employees like they’re all idiots.”
