Erus' POV After spending almost twenty hours in a meeting, my assistant is the first to meet me by the door. I am exhausted, I don't want to look at his face. He has news and I am not looking forward to fearing it. “Good evening, Brandon,” “Yes, Brandon, what do you want?” I roll my eyes. I turn around and take off my jacket. I walk to the car and he is fast behind me. “Whatever it is that you want from me, I don't want to hear it.” I shake my head. “Get someone to prepare a hot bath for me before we get to the hotel.” Brandon gets into the car with me and the car moves down the road. I rub between my eyes. I just need to rest, I feel a mess. I still feel Brandon's eyes on me and I exhale. “I'm sorry, Alpha, but I need to tell you that your mother called her.” He says. “Tell her I will get back to her when I have the time.” I mutter. “Sir, I don't think that's going to be possible. Today is supposed to be the due date for your wife…” It feels like a drop has been dropped o
**Seven years later** Erus' POV I am walking around the pool in my penthouse. Holding a bottle of wine that seems not to do anything for my pain. Last three days made it seven years since I lost Naya and my daughter. I never thought that Naya would be someone whose absence would wreck my life, but here we are. I left my family house seven years ago and I haven't been able to go back. I have lived in almost ten different houses, but I have never gotten back my peace. What of the women? None. Not even one of them could fill the void that Naya left in my heart. It didn't matter their level of education, their beautyl, their achievements, how well-to-do their family was, it just never worked out. It was just sex and never went beyond that, that doesn't mean my mother even got tired and stopped sending them my way. Running the pack, running the companies has slowly turned me into an emotionless shadow of myself. I refused to accept that Naya was truly dead at the beginning
Naya's POV ****Seven years later**** After working for twelve hours, all I want to do is to go back home to my daughter, Jordan. I get into the car and shut the door, only then do I completely fall back against my seat. I'm so exhausted. I glance at my wristwatch, it's 12.15 am. I smile because it's my daughter's birthday. Seven years ago today, I was a teenager who had just given birth. I survived Luna Bloodton and ran away to a far away city, something that I would have never thought I would have the courage to do. Seven years ago, I was a teenager, running away from my mother in-law, clutching a few hours old child as the train headed towards what seemed to be oblivion. Now I am twenty four, a registered nurse, and my baby just turned seven years old. Life has been very scary, but I did it. I don't know how, but I have survived for seven years and I am so proud of myself. I feel my eyes getting filled with tears, but I wipe them away. I can't cry now. I nee
Naya's POV Meadow is already grabbing her jacket and bag as she gets ready to leave. It's not a problem, because she lives a few houses away. Our neighborhood is very safe. “Thank you so much for today.” I say to her as I take my purse and give her some money. “Thanks.” She takes the money with a grateful smile. “You should rest, you look so exhausted.” “I will, darling, right after I wrap my gifts.” I sigh. “Say hi to your mum, okay?” “Okay. I will call Jordan tomorrow, she is very excited for her birthday.” She tells me. I walk her to the door and wave her. I wait to see her get to the front yard of her house, before I go back into the house and shut the door. I grab myself a glass of wine and as I take out the gifts I bought for Jordan. An iPad, new trainers, a coloring set, about ten storybooks, she is going to be overjoyed tomorrow…. I am interrupted by my phone ringing. I glance at it and a wide smile appears on my face. It's my mum calling…. After ru
Naya's POV I can't believe that after seven years, I will be going back to Moonclaw. I knew that one day I would be forced to go to Moonclaw, but I didn't know that it would be this soon. It's frightening, but I pack some things for a very long trip, and get Jordan ready to go to Moonclaw. I decide to take my car, that way, I don't have to rent one when I get there. Jordan is excited. I haven't told her that Grandma is gone now. I tried alone, when I was sure that she wasn't going to see me, but I haven't been able to tell her the truth. She is sitting at the back, holding a coloring book and I drive. I have just driven past the ‘goodbye Flearock’ sign. Goddess, give me strength. I need strength to go through this with my daughter. I need strength to mourn my mother. “Hey, mum?” Jordan looks up. “Yes?” I look at her through the mirror. “Do you like salty cake?” “What?” I screw my face. “I saw you crying and eating cake yesterday. I was wondering if it's because you like
Naya's POV Tracy is quiet at the other end of the phone. I smack my lips against each other, it's either that or the tears come out again. “Are you finally back? Is this permanent?” Tracy sighs. “I… I don't know.” I push my hair away from my face. “This place has not been good to me, Tracy.” “It has been seven years, Naya. You are free now. I'm sure that he won't recognize you, even if you encounter him on the road.” I smile. I appreciate Tracy's good words. She has been my only source of comfort. “The moon is out today. That's your mother smiling down at you.” *****Sitting on the ground in my mother's house. Her urn is next to me as I sort her mail. I thought that it would be harder, seeing her pale body on that table. I thought I would fall and go unconscious too, but it wasn't. She has been cremated and I held onto the urn in the car for an hour straight. I felt her in my arms, I feel her close to me now. “I can't move here.” I speak to the urn. To my mother. “I can't e
Naya’s POV Driving to the hospital is a smooth ride. I find myself at peace and nothing about meeting Erus crosses my mind. I get to the hospital and drive to the parking lot. I grab my baseball hat and put it on my head, just in case anyone recognizes me. I grab the basket and walk to the front. The reception is calm. I can see that nothing much is happening in the hospital today. “Hi, good afternoon.” I say to the nurse at the front. “I am here to drop off some clothes that are to be donated to the Good People foundation.” “Okay, Miss,” she smiles. She hands me a clipboard with a paper to fill. I heave as I start to fill. It's nothing much, I am almost done in two minutes. “Take your for your donation, please make sure you leave your phone number as someone will call you to appreciate–” The loud blowing of the siren makes both of us turn around. Five ambulances screech as they come to stop in front. The workers rushes out, bringing in injured people on stretchers. Almost tw
Naya's POV Twenty people, that's how many people I snatched from the hands of death and now, they are lying in their beds stable and recovering. I slide to the ground, my entire shirt and trousers are covered with blood and other bodily fluids.Even though I am exhausted and so sweaty, the feeling of fulfillment that comes with saving lives is heavy in my heart today. A nurse is next to me, she is panting and her head is against the wall. We look at each other and we laugh. “Hi, I'm Pat.” She stretches out her gloved hand. “Naya.” I shake her equally gloved hand. “Hi. You are not a new hire, are you?” “No. I am a registered nurse that coincidentally walked into the hospital when it happened.” I say. “I see.” Pat says. “I saw all that you did. You are incredible. You are a hero.” The Chief comes into the room and everyone immediately stands up. Pat and I go to clean up and dispose of our gloves. The Chief goes around, commending the staff for a well done job. With the sever
Naya's POV I told myself that I was never going to attend a meeting like this ever again, especially after Erus and his mother kicked my mother out, but here I am. I look out of the window, at the family's strolling into the building, and my throat clogs with anxiety. “Brandon, I can't do this.” I shake my head. “You can do this, mummy.” Jordan fits her tiny hand into mine. I smile at her, even though anxiety is tearing me up on the inside. “We can stop by the restroom, first. I assure you that we will make sure that you get a seat where no one will notice you.” “Thank you, Brandon.” I sigh. The driver stops the car at a secret door, and Brandon gets the door. Jordan and I step out, into a small passage, and into a bathroom. Jordan stays with Brandon in the passage, while I go to the bathroom to splash some water on my face. I open my bag and take out my lipstick. It's not too red, but it gives my face a little bit of some glow back. “Please, moon goddess, please help me.
I wake up the next morning feeling like a block of cement was dropped on me. My entire body is weak with pain, and I wince as I turn around in the bed. I catch a glimpse of the clock and it sends me rolling and tumbling out of bed. I overslept! Jordan will be late for school, I will be late for work, and this is going to be the worst thing ever for me! “Jordan! Jordan, honey, you are going to be late for school!” I rush to her bedroom, but when I open the door, she is not in her bed! I forgot that she slept with Erus in the living room. I rush down, hoping to find both of them sleeping, but they are not there. I rush to the kitchen, to the other rooms, but she is nowhere to be found. Did someone come in the middle of the night and take my daughter?! The head servant Grace comes in from the quarters. “Good morning, madame, you look so troubled.” “I can't find my child!” I tell her, holding my hand over my head. “I overslept, she is going to be late for school–” “The Alpha too

Naya's POV I found have fall, my heart is still beating from what would have been a fatal fall that would have put me in bed for a few weeks. But he caught me. And he is staring at me with his eyebrows furrowed. “Careful, you almost slipped there.” He murmurs. I stand up straight and push my hair away from my face. “Yeah, thank you for catching me.” “Maybe I should have allowed you to fall.” He says and I'm taken aback. “Maybe that's the only way you would catch a break and allow the servants to do their jobs.” “Ha.” I give a short laugh. It's not a joke, I know that he could have allowed me to fall(he is very capable of doing that), but thank the gods that he didn't. He puts his head back against the sink and I rinse his hair for the final time. I run my fingers through his hair and the glitter is gone. I smile, I am proud of myself. I take a towel and dries his shirt. His jacket is off and his sleeves as been rolled up. I did a great job with keeping his shirt dry. He waits
Naya's POV This is not right, that's the only thing that keeps going through my mind as I watch my stuff get moved into the Bloodton mansion. I refuse to go into Luna Bloodton's bedroom, and I refuse to answer the servants when they ask if there is anything they could do for me. Did he just kick his mother out of the family house because of me?! And gave the house to me?! His father is surely rolling in his grave! I pretend that everything is well at work. Jordan is very happy with the huge house, but not me. How can I be happy? I come back from work and I suddenly cease my breath once I see his car up in the parking space. A servant girl rushes to me bows many times. “Good evening, madame–” “No, you may not have my bag!” I hiss at her. I refuse to open the door until she turns red with embarrassment and leaves. I will never be used to being served by people. I refuse to be used to it! After she has left, I take my bag and go to the front door. I am about to open the door whe
Erus' POV No, I am not moving in with Jordan and Naya, even though I am giving them this big ass house that used to belong to my mother. I can't believe what she did, and I can't believe that Naya couldn't even tell me the truth. I used to blame her for keeping Jordan from me, but I didn't expect my mother to be the reason. I don't feel bad for sending her to the countryside for the rest of her life. If she wasn't my mother, I would have sentenced her to death for what she did to Jordan and Naya. I'm in my office, Brandon walks in with some files. He quietly bows to me as he drops them in front of him. I know what they are, so I stop what I am doing, and I start to sign the papers. “How did you know about the situation with my mother and Naya?” I ask without looking up. Brandon clears his throat. “Just a few days, sir. I told you as soon as I knew,” The anger boils even more in my chest. “She told you, but she couldn't tell me?!” “I think it's because she was scared of you,
Naya's POV “Please, Erus! You know that I can't survive in the countryside. I belong here, in the city, ruling next to you as Luna. Please, don't do this to me, my son.” She pleads. “You are lucky that I'm not killing you.” He huffs.Brandon walks into the kitchen and bows to Erus, and even the former Luna, who is crying defeated on the ground. This was his doing. I told him that I was scared to tell Erus, but he told me that he was going to take care of it. And he did…“Mrs Bloodton, the vehicle is waiting for you.” Brandon says. I see her heart shatter. She is no longer Luna…“Please, Erus, don't do this to your mother. It's still me, remember how long it took me to give birth to you. I almost lost my life trying to give life to you.” “It's either this, or public humiliation, followed by death.” He tells her coldly. “Either way, it's up to you.” She knows that no matter how hard she cries, he is not going to listen to her. His father trained him well..She stands up to her fee
Naya's POV I have never seen so much confusion and fear on the face of the Luna. How can someone be scared of her son to the extent that she starts to shiver? He hasn't said another word, he is just leaning against the door and watching her with his painfully cold eyes. “I'm still waiting,” he says. “I mean, I have all day.” She laughs nervously and looks at her son. “Erus, you know that I was only joking, I didn't mean any of what I said–” “It's Alpha to you.” He corrects her. “I mean, you of all people should know that, you are my mother.” I have never heard him speak to her in such a tone. If it wasn't obvious before, it is that she is now in alot of trouble. “Alpha, can we go to my room? I promise you that it's not what it sounds like.” “You tried to kill my child and you are telling me that it isn't what it sounds like? Answer me!” He roars to the extent that I feel my own bones rattle with fear. His mother immediately goes down on her knees and shut her eyes. “Erus,
Naya's POV I guess she thinks that she is the winner right now. Shs won, didn't she? I try to take my daughter and flee far away from her, but we are now in the same house that I hate with all of me. We all sit at the dining table and Luna Bloodton has made Jordan sit next to her. She is talking to Jordan about everything, and they are laughing together. I hold my fork too firmly. I can't eat, I can just hold my breath and pray for all of this to be over. Erus doesn't even look at me. He is busy eating his food. Jordan can't cut up the stakes in front of her, so Luna Bloodton tries to help her. “I can't do it, Luna, don't worry.” I say. I pull the plate before she can even change her mind. I feel her eyes on me, but I don't look up. I pull the knife back and forth, pretending that the piece of meat is Luna Bloodton's heart. “But why did you pull it like that?” Luna Bloodton asks. “Huh?” I look up. “Why did you pull back the plate as if I was planning on poisoning my own gr
