Scarlett's POV
I hated him—at least, I tried to convince myself of that. This made me angry within me each and every time I saw him with Sienna. But no matter how hard I tried to look the other way, there was always something lurking deep down inside of me every time he was around—an instinct that I wished to defy.
I would not accept this. He wasn't my partner. He simply couldn't be.
Alexander had been stalking me more than usual since I got back from my trip. His sharp gaze followed me wherever I went. And now, he had the nerve to complement me He was staring at me as if I was a different person.
“You have grown up, Scarlett,” Alexander’s voice was rough, his eyes seemed to have turned almost black and I couldn’t decipher the emotion that was reflected in them.
He moved nearer to me but I shifted my distance backward.
I raised my eyebrows and snorted, looking at him in the eye. “I haven’t changed that much,” You do not have to lie to me, Alpha Alexander.”
He again moved closer to me, his eyes piercing through me and fixing on my eyes. Like a prey is standing infront of him, and he wants to possess all over.
“I am not lying, you are stronger, there is something different about you now and I like it.”
His words came out again and for a moment my heart skipped a beat but I did not let it show. ‘I don’t want to hear your compliments,’ I retorted and began to move away from him. “You never bothered before, so do not start now.”
I could not afford to be provoked by him, not at this time. It was so disgusting every time I saw him, I could remember that night when he was with Sienna. He plays with his words same like he used years back. My heart tightened with fury and the urge to get out of there seized me.
He is a playboy, who has once shattered my heart.
That night, I was in bed, feeling the burden of all that had happened and all that was going on in my head. The image of Alexander kept flashing in my head—his penetrating gaze, his words, his ripped muscles, the way his lips almost curved into a smile when he looked at me, it made my skin crawl and my heart race in equal measure.
As I was preparing to insist myself to sleep, there was a knock through the silent room. My body tensed instantly.
Who could it be at this hour?
I paused for a second before getting up slowly towards the door. I slowly and carefully turned the handle and opened the door just a little, my heart racing. I was left breathless when I saw Alexander standing there.
He was sitting with his eyes closed and was leaning against the door; there was the smell of strong alcohol. His hair was somewhat combed, as if he had been running his hands through it in frustration and his shirt was half opened to reveal his well defined chest.
“Alexander?” I asked quietly, struggling to mask the surprise in my voice. ”Why are you here?”
His lips curled into a half smile, which was almost childish. “I wanted to see you,” he said, his words slurred but his eyes filled with lust. ”I… need you, Scarlett. “
I opened my eyes wide in disbelief at what he had said. ‘You are drunk, Alexander. Go home.’
He moved closer to her, his eyes were black and heavy. “No… I’m not leaving. Not until I say what I came here to say. ”
I crossed my arms in front of me, attempting to keep as much space between me and him as possible. ‘What could there be that you had to come here at this hour of the night?’
His face relaxed and for a second I saw the pain that he had been hiding behind the mask of the strong man. “You’re my mate, Scarlett,” he whispered, the timbre of his voice deep and seductive. “You feel it too. Don’t deny it.”
I felt the air leave my lungs, the pull inside me growing stronger, but I forced myself to resist. "No," I said firmly, shaking my head. "I don’t want to be your mate. I don’t want this, Alexander."
He stepped closer, his breath warm against my skin. His scent—woodsy and intoxicating—filled my senses, and I fought the urge to give in to the heat rising between us.
"You can’t deny what’s between us," he whispered, his voice dripping with seduction. "I can feel it. So can you."
I placed my hands against his chest, intending to push him away, but instead, I felt the hard muscles under my palms, and a wave of heat surged through me. His heart pounded beneath my touch, and for a moment, I couldn’t move.
"Alexander, stop," I said, my voice trembling. "This isn’t right."
He leaned in closer, his lips brushing against the shell of my ear. "You belong to me, Scarlett. Whether you like it or not."
I shivered, my body betraying me as my wolf stirred at the closeness of him. "No," I breathed, trying to summon the strength to resist. "I don’t belong to anyone. Especially not you."
His hands slid down my arms, his touch lingering, burning my skin. "You can lie to yourself all you want, but you can’t run from this forever."
"Stop it!" I pulled away from him, my heart racing. "I don’t want this. I’m only here for my father, and once he’s better, I’m leaving."
His jaw clenched, frustration flashing in his eyes. "You’re leaving?"
"Yes," I whispered, tears stinging the back of my eyes. "I don’t want any unwanted relationships. I don’t want to be your mate. I don’t want to be here."
For a brief moment, his eyes softened, as if my words had truly hurt him. But then, just as quickly, the cold mask returned, and he stepped back, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"You can say what you want, Scarlett, but deep down, you know the truth. You’re mine," he said, his voice low and possessive.
Before I could respond, I slammed the door in his face, my hands trembling as I leaned against it, trying to catch my breath.
What had just happened?
My heart pounded painfully in my chest, and I could still feel the heat of his touch lingering on my skin. Tears slipped down my cheeks as I tried to steady my breathing, knowing deep down that I was fighting a battle I wasn’t sure I could win.
Alexander was dangerous. He was determined. And worse of all, he was my mate.
But no matter how strong the pull was, I wouldn’t let myself fall for him. I couldn’t.
Because if I did, I knew he would destroy me.
(Scarlett's POV)I have never felt stranger than tonight. By my side, Ryan, my twin brother, stood confidently, a proud Beta of our pack. He looked like a mountain, erect and solid, while I felt like his shadow-trapped in this incompleteness, a werewolf who hadn't even felt his full transformation.Ryan had had a wolf for years, and his strength seemed to be fused with it. He was assertive and authoritative, all the things a Beta should be. As for me? I'm still stuck in the in-between phase ーnot fully human, but not fully wolf either. An Omega who hadn't even met her wolf yet.Even more painful, my other twin sister, Sienna, already had her wolf. The only thing that set us apart, besides her striking strength, was the color of our eyes. My soft green eyes seemed to fade next to her piercing blue. She was everything I was not ーstrong, graceful, and admired. And she had her wolf.My father, the Alpha of the Blackwood Pack, insisted I should come to this party. "It will be good for you,"
(Scarlett's POV)The girls immediately paled, and the smirks on their lips were replaced with terror. Camilla, who had initiated the bullying earlier, swallowed hard, her bravado fading under Alexander’s glare.‘We didn’t mean—’ one the girls started to say, but Alexander interrupted.“I don’t want your excuses,” he snarled, his eyes flashing dangerously. “If I ever find you pestering her or anyone else, then you will be answering to me. Got it?”They nodded quickly, their faces as white as a sheet, obviously frightened.“Go now,” Alexander commanded, his tone as icy as the winter wind. “Before I make you regret it. ”He moved towards me and reached out his hand to touch mine; I did not move away from him, and there was a spark in his eyes that made me feel attracted to him. When our fingers met there was a jolt, an electric current ran through me and I felt as if I had been struck by lightning.Alexander helped me stand and he held my hand for a little too long. I looked into his eye
(Scarlett's POV)Two years later I was a totally different person. Living in New York was a new beginning for me and for the first time, I was able to shift into my full wolf form. My wolf form made me feel powerful and strong something I had never felt before. I was not the Omega who would always wear thick clothes to avoid being seen. Now I am strong and confident, I have no problem with accepting myself for who I am.Now, I am a student during the day and a model at night, trying to keep up with the new looks. The hoodie jacket that I once wore as my armor is now changed by clothes that flaunt my strength. At one point in the shoot, the photographer walks over, and stares, before fixing a light.“Scarlett, you don’t need much makeup – you are gorgeous,” he said with a sleazy grin, “How about a drink after this? We can discuss your future in modeling ーand some behind-the-scenes ‘wizardry,’ if you catch my drift.”‘Thank you for the compliment but I am here for business not pleasure.
(ALEX POV)This prison was cold, not only in the physical sense, but in the emotional sense as well. There was hopelessness in the air and the sound of the metallic doors slamming shut only made my chest feel tight and constricted. I despised this place yet this was the place I came for a reminder of what was taken from me and why I was the way I was.I move down the long hall and the guards follow me, keeping a distance. They know who I am and will not be in my way anymore. When I got to the last cell in the row, I saw him, my father, the once powerful Alpha, now a mere shell of his former self. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, and although in the past he was a man with a well-built, broad chest, he was slumped over with the years he spent in prison.“Alexander,” he said as he rose from his seat, his throat feeling raw and unused. His eyes that used to be bright, authoritative now looked so dull, the effects of time and injustice. But there was a brief moment of pride in his ey
