Chapter 2

SARAH'S POV

The air in the car was quite tense, especially when I watched him step on the accelerator, pushing the car beyond the normal range of speeding limits.

My heart left into my throat, my nails

digging into my thighs where I held on for dear life.

Shifting around uncomfortably, I kept glancing at him from the corner of my eyes but his expression didn't change.

His body was rigid and his hands were gripping the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles were white.

“Um, Liam…ca-can you please…t-try t-to slow d-down?” I stuttered out, my anxiety skyrocketing when we hit a small pothole in the home and the motion made me lift off my seat for some seconds.

As usual, he ignored me and kept on driving. The blood was rushing to my head, making me feel woozy and dizzy for a second. When I couldn't take it anymore, I spoke up again.

“Please? You know you're my brother-in-law? It'd be quite bad if you got me involved in an accident?” Thankfully that seemed to provoke a response. He cut a glance at her, his eyes hard with anger.

“That should be the last time that I will hear you call me your brother-in-law. You say it one more time I swear to God I was throwing your ass out of this car!”

Properly scolded, I kept my mouth shut but the speed at which she was moving still made me nauseous. “Liam, please slow down or else you're going to get us both killed!”

He must really hate the sound of my voice because instead of doing what I told him, he stepped on the gas and the car shot forward, moving way faster than I thought it could.

I yelped, reaching for anything to grab so I wasn't propelled out of my seat.

Resigned to be with a heartless monster, I kept trying to count backward in a bid to distract myself from how fast he was going.

A couple of minutes later to my surprise, he started talking without prompting. “You know you're all the same, right? You, your sister, every other bloody lady! Most of it all though, is your sister!” He spat out contempt in every word. “I never wanted to marry her but somehow she wiggled my way into my family and got a hold of their minds. How can I marry such a manipulator and someone who's also responsible for Maggie's death?”

My eyes flew up to his surprise.

Maggie?

“How did you….” I cut off my sentence, changing my mind. “All you have are speculations, Emily would never do that.”

He let out a bark of humorless laughter. “Of course, you would think that you're all the same! You're just as worthless and desperate as your damn sister.”

I felt attacked on the receiving end of something that I didn't do but I kept my mouth shut, knowing that I didn't have any power in this situation.

The car was silent for a couple more minutes. It happened so slowly that I didn't get it at first. Feeling the flicker of a caress on my thigh, I looked down to see Liam's hand creeping towards the inside of my thigh.

Immediately, I felt disgusted and I recoiled, moving away from him. “What the hell?” I yelled. My mind was racing a mile a minute.

Hold on, is that why he brought me here?

Liam's simply chocolate throwing his head back in laughter. “Oh, trust me. This is only the beginning.”

That statement only made my mind run wild with ideas and crazy stories. Maybe my earlier perception of him being the nicest out of the lot was simply because he was hiding his cruelty under a mask…like most of them usually did.

If that was the case, then I feared what would happen during this ‘tour’. Twisting my head to face the window, I couldn't help but think about escaping the confines of the car.

My options were either to wrestle my way to get a hold of the steering wheel and push him aside or jump out of the car. The first might not work, simply because he was way stronger than I was….that only left the second choice.

Inching my fingers slowly towards the door lock, I was hoping to pop it quickly before he noticed and jumped out but Liam was smarter than he looked, catching on to me immediately.

Just as I popped the lock, about to fling the door open his hand reached out to grab me, jerking me back into my seat with one hand. “What the hell is your problem? Are you trying to die because jumping out of a speeding car is the surest way to get that done!” He hissed at her.

Grumbling, she pushed him off her, facing him squarely. “Maybe at this point, I'd prefer taking that high road than being stuck in here with you!”

If I had intended to piss him off, it worked because a vein in his forehead ticked as he glared at me. “Oh, sweet innocent Sarah. Death will be the last thing you'll be asking for when I'm done with you because whether you like it or not, you and your sister are responsible for my misery.”

I gulped, swallowing heavily at the harshness in his tone, wondering what I'd done to deserve this sort of treatment. “What do y-you mean?”

“Maggie.” He slid a look at her. “I know you're responsible for what happened to her and I promise you…. Where am I now? I swear I would drag you down into that personal hell!” I was right, he is a psychopath.

Well, there's no way I would go down without fighting, jumping to get a hold of the wheel. Liam tried to fight me off with one hand but I was too relentless, intent on getting out of this alive.

‘’Fucking bitch!” He cursed under his breath, stepping on the brakes so hard, that the car shot forward. Save for the seatbelt, I would have been propelled out of the car. As it was, my head hit the dashboard and my ears were ringing, taking me a second to get my bearings.

“You don't ever listen!” Liam was grumbling under his breath. The next thing I knew, he was right in my face, his hot breath fanning my lips.

I was trembling, scared, and afraid for my life. My eyes were wide with fear as I looked at Liam whose eyes were bulging out of his sockets, filled with rage, his lips peeled back as he fisted my shirt.

Holy fucking shit….
