Stormee POV
By breakfast, I was as good as new. It was a family affair, only us. Dad kept going about our party and how amazing it would be tonight when we got our wolves. He also said that soon we would find our mates and that we should make the best out of this time in our pack because he was sure we would be separating to continue our journeys somewhere else. That conversation was something that left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. I didn't want to leave this place, my family, or my brother.
My mother chose my dress, and I have to say, she outdid herself this year. It was romantic yet stylish. It was a short, soft pink dress, strapless, with a layered skirt just a hand or so above my knee.
In the afternoon, my mom brought a full team to do my hair and makeup. I know I am a hopeless case, and my sweet mother knows it. By the time they were done, the party was about to start. I stood in front of a mirror, staring at my reflection.
My auburn hair fell in soft waves, pinned with a flower on one side and cascading over my shoulders. My makeup was natural overall, although it focused on bringing out my green eyes with a smokey shadow and glossy lips. I barely recognized the woman staring back at me.
Ralph walked into my room. He had the bad habit of not knocking and just barging in. “Wow!” She stooped in her tracks. I slowly turned around and sighed.
“Isn't it too much?” I bit my lower lip, and he chuckled,
“Are you a fucking princess?” he asked, and I squinted my eyebrows; what did that have to do with anything?
“Yes?” I hesitated and worded my answer as a question.
“Then chin up, perk up, and let's roll… because your entire school life you tried to be invisible, but a fucking princess like you are meant to be the upfront center of everything…” He said, closing the distance between us and standing behind me. He looked handsome, as usual, with a tailored dark gray suit and a white button-down shirt without a tie.
I took a deep breath and chuckled. I turned around, and he wrapped his arms around me,
“Happy Birthday, Storm…” He said, and I lifted my gaze,
“Happy Birthday, Ralph…” I replied. It was our usual ritual before each party. We took a moment together, alone, to prepare and to celebrate the intimacy of our twin's bond. We couldn't be more different, but at the same time, we were so similar.
“I've got you a present…” I moved away from his embrace, and he lifted his eyebrows.
“We said no presents,” he protested, and I laughed,
“It is nothing, but I saw it and thought of you… So…” I bit my lower lip while handling the small box.
He opened it and chuckled, “Only you…” He laughed, taking out the cufflinks I had purchased for him. I bought him two pairs of cufflinks with the things he loved the most: video games and football.
“Thanks! They are awesome…” he said, taking the white gold Packman and Ghost cufflinks and handing them to me to help him change them. I removed the ones he was wearing and attached the ones I gifted him.
He hugged me, stood before me, opened his jacket, and retrieved a small box. “I guess we are twins, after all…” He laughed, making me chuckle. Yes, my brother was the popular jock at school, but he was my brother, and we loved and accepted each other just the way we were.
I opened the box and looked up at him. The pair of earrings inside the box were beautiful. They were long white gold twisted strings with two pin gems attached. They were perfect for the dress I was wearing. “Mom told me your dress was pink…” He scratched the back of his head, and I smiled,
“They are perfect.” I stood on my tippy-toes and kissed his cheek. Then, turning around, I attached them to my ears.
“You look hot, Storm…” He said, and I gave him a funny look. It was something I never expected Ralph to blurt, “I mean, you do… not that I am attracted to you, but just saying…” He blabbed around, making me giggle.
“You are cute when you blush!” I made fun of him, and he laughed.
“Shall we?” He opened his arm for me to take it, and I wrapped mine around it. He was my strength. How could I ever live away from him? We have shared almost everything since we were in the womb…
The music was playing, and it suddenly stopped when Ralph and I stepped out into the Backyard, where the party was being held. Mom outdid herself, or better say, Uncle Corey, Mom's Gama Female, went overboard.
Small fairy lights hung from the trees, and there was an LED dancing floor and a DJ in the center. Surrounding the dance floor were high tables and lounge seats in white, with classy centerpieces of flowers, fairy lamps, and candles. Two huge buffet tables were on the sides, several snack stations were marked with neon signs, and even more drink stations were marked similarly.
We made our way to the center of the dance floor, our way framed by glowing fireworks. “Uncle Corey and his theatrics…” Ralph muttered in my ears, making me giggle. Mom and Dad stood in the center of the dance floor, and as soon as we reached them, Daddy kissed my cheek and asked me to open the dance floor with him. Mom and Ralph danced together while Daddy and I did the same.
“You look beautiful, Darling…” my father said, and I bit my lower lip. You are a flower in bloom. I have seen you flourish slowly during all this time, but I am sure that you will come your way soon enough.” He said, and I nodded.
“Thanks, Daddy… for allowing me to be myself,” I said, and he nodded,
“I wouldn't change anything about you because you are an exceptional young woman… you deserve the world.” He kissed my temple while I rested my cheek on his chest. My dad's heartbeat was my favorite sound in the whole wide world.
The song was over, and people clapped. Several girls made their way to congratulate Ralph while I awkwardly stood there until Trevor walked towards me. “Happy Birthday, Storm…” he said, blushing, and I smiled at him. Trevor was someone with whom I felt comfortable, besides my brother and cousin.
“Thanks, Trevor…” I said, hoping I didn't sound as awkward as I felt. I remember dancing playfully with him yesterday, and I am sure he expects me to be as open as last night, but to get to that point, I needed to invite Mr. Jagger to the party, and I have zero to no intention of doing so.
“May I have a dance with you?” He asked, and I agreed.
The DJ started playing lively music, and soon, we were all dancing together. I finally found a middle ground between last night and having good fun today. Ralph indulged half of the female population while Enzo danced around with everyone.
After several songs, dancing with Trevor, Billy, Jack, and jumping around with Perry and Meghan… I was parched and tired. I was not used to being surrounded by so many people.
I decided to pick a drink and have a minute for myself. I walked to the treeline while drinking my Coke. I didn't want to have any alcohol, at least not tonight.
I looked around at where the party was being held and chuckled. Everyone was having a blast. I took a deep breath when I inhaled the most enticing scent —something close to bergamot and citrus. I looked around but didn't see anyone, but then I saw one of the rare flowers that appeared in my room when it was my birthday.
I looked around and took the flower in my hands. The flower was something I had never seen in our realm. It was colorful and glistened with the rays of the moon. “You look beautiful; Happy Birthday again!” the note read, and I chuckled. I sniffed the flower, and it didn't smell the enticing scent, but around it was a hint of it. The person who placed it there was the owner of that unique scent.
I looked around, seeing my surroundings empty, but simultaneously, I felt a presence. “Thank You!” I yelled and then giggled. I must be going crazy.
Enzo ran towards me… "What are you doing out here, all alone?” He said, panting. I bit my lower lip.
“Taking a minute…” I sighed, hiding the beautiful flower behind me.
“Well, come on… We are going to sing Happy Birthday and cut the cake…” He pulled my hand and stared at the flower.
“What are you doing with a MoonPetal Orchid?” Enzo lifted his eyebrows, and I bit my lower lip. How will I explain to my cousin that they have been appearing in my room or randomly around me since I turned 16?
“I didn't know what this was. Is it bad?” I replied, not wanting to tell him the entire truth.
“No, it is not bad…” He sighed… "It is a rare flower that grows only on the Royal Side of the Enchanted Forest…” He took a deep breath,
“Fae?” I lifted my eyebrows, and he nodded,
“Yes, Fae…” He sighed, and I looked up at him, and he chuckled.
“I guess you have a high-ranked Fae admirer…” He chuckled, and I blushed, the image of the man I granted my very first kiss popping into my head.
“Maybe?” I chuckled, and he pinned the flower to the side of my head.
“There, it suits you…” He said, and I nodded.
“How do you know I have an admirer?” I asked while we walked back to the party,
“Because it is the utmost sacred present a man can present to a woman, according to their traditions…”
Stormee POV***Almost three years later***After I graduated from high school, I went to law school. I loved every aspect of lawmaking. I excelled in my classes, took extra credits, and was lined up to be the fastest-graduating student in the campus's history.Every year, the day before my birthday, I receive a single MoonPetal Orchid. I still had no idea who my secret admirer was, but the fact that he kept sending me those flowers meant he was deeply committed to me. Why hasn't he revealed himself? Why am I waiting for him?Yes, I have been waiting for him. A year ago, Trevor asked me out, and after several dates, he asked me to be his girlfriend and future chosen mate. That was when things took a turn, and I got cold feet. Despite liking him, enjoying his company, and even kissing him a couple of times… being with him or committing to him felt wrong. Every time we kissed, the image of the handsome,
Stormee POVI can't believe it. My father is okay with a stranger taking me away. I stood up and turned around on my heel, and left his fucking office. Why do they always think I will be this compliant, sweet being who will do as those macho say? I am fucking fed up!I heard Ralph yell after me, but I couldn't care less. Behind Ralph, at a stumbling distance, Enzo also called out to me. I ran towards the treeline, tears brimming my eyes. I didn't want to hear any reason or explanation disguised as an excuse.Who would that man be? What about what I want? What about what my dreams are? What about courting me, making me fall in love with him? Being nice? Doing nice things for me? Earning my heart and respect? Being my knight in shining armor? What about romance, passion, love, sex? Oh! Goddess! Will I have to be intimate with a stranger for the first time in my life? Now I regret waiting. Now I see why Ralph and Enzo went ahead and explored… Maybe they knew something I didn't… and that m
Stromee POVThe weekend flowed as usual. Our 21st birthday was coming, and I feared my life would change forever. I kept my studies going, but the nagging feeling that my dreams would be shattered once I turned 21 kept distracting me from my endeavors.I was at the top of my class, and soon, I was distracted and wondering what would happen. I have talked to Enzo. After that conversation, we had a clearing near the river. He chose to go to a rehab center, and I got a call from Aunt Page thanking me for setting him right.Aunt Paige and Uncle Eulisses had tried everything, but Enzo was not listening to them… It was not until we got the news that we all had mates, and our parents knew even before we were born about them, that he was willing to listen and see reason.I thank the Goddess for that because Enzo and Ralph are my rocks. I have always felt protected around them. Even when I went through my lonely, weird stage in high school, they were there, accepting me as I was, respecting my
Stormee POVI didn´t want to wait to have a real conversation with my mother, so after talking with Trevor, I decided to dial my mother´s number.“Hey, Sweetie…” Mom picked up, and I sighed,“Mom, I need to know…” I bit my lower lip and heard my mom sigh on the other side of the line.“Do you want to switch to a video call?” she asked, and I turned the camera on and switched the call to a video call. Mom was calm on the other side, and I closed my eyes. I needed to know because not knowing was driving me crazy.“What do you want to know, Sweetie?” Mom said, and I bit my lower lip. I wondered if, by looking into my face, she could use her power remotely to read my thoughts and feelings.“Well, Dad told us that you already know who our mates are and that you settled ground rules to allow us to grow as normal kids…” I paused, and my mom nodded.“So, who the fuck is my mate? Why hasn´t he come forward?” I blurted, and Mom bit her lower lip.“I am sure he would like to introduce himself to
Aelfred POVI couldn´t believe how amazing and incredibly beautiful my mate was. She was regal, poised, and collected. She blushed when I mentioned the necklace I stole from her a while ago.I never stopped sending her the MoonPealt Orchids; it was a sign of my love and devotion… That kiss lasted me a lifetime, but it was time for me to get it all. I have waited so much for her that I can't hold it anymore.I don´t know how Lycans feel about the mate bond. I know dragons need skin-to-skin contact to identify their partners. For us, finding the bond within our mate´s eyes… and for Lycans, I am sure it is something more primal, like scenting your mate or their wolf side making a claim. When my irises changed colors, I immediately recognized our bond. I saw it, and it was magical and mesmerizing. It was something to be cherished and treasured. But I was confused as to why she hadn´t stated a claim on me…“Who are you?” she mumbled, and I couldn´t believe she couldn´t recognize our fated,
Stormee POVI asked Aelfred about his age. He froze, so that means he is older than me. “Aelfred?” I pressed, and he sighed,“Elf´s age is different; we reach maturity when we turn one thousand eight hundred years, which is something around you eighteen years of age,” he paused, and I nodded. I already knew that. When I was in high school and had the knack of spending all my free time in the library, I ran into a fascinating book about elves. I couldn´t put it aside, so I read it in one go, and then I was so interested in their way that I read every book on their species available to me.“Yes, the time in the Elf kingdom flows differently than the time in the other realms… at a ratio of 100 to 1,” I recited, and he lifted his eyes, now understanding that I was not being judgmental but curious.“So, how old are you in human years?” I lifted my eyebrows, and he chuckled.“I am close to 38 years old, by human standards.” He confessed, and I bit my lower lip.“So you met my mother when sh
Stormee POVThe week passed slowly. Aelfred didn´t come to look out for me again, and I was confused about that radio silence. It was too draining to look around the corner, hoping and waiting to see him, only to end in disappointment.A day before our 21st birthday party, I traveled to my parents' place, which was about two hours away from my campus apartment, and settled in the castle. The following day, I woke up in my room, and I gasped. My room was full of glittery flowers, brilliant colors all shining back at me. A note on my nightstand. “Sorry for not being able to meet you again… I have a lot of things to settle before I take a month off to be with my Queen… I will see you tonight. Love, A.”Somehow, my entire stomach fluttered, my heart beat fast, and I wanted it to be a night to see him gain. Maybe I am being childish, but I was utterly giddy because, after tonight, we will be fair play… That means he will not hold back anymore, and I will be able to see the real, passion
Romeo POVToday is the day I will lose my girl. I am sure Aelfred will come and snatch her out of my grasp. She is my baby girl, and despite knowing him to be an honorable man, I just can´t let her go.Those three extra years we managed to bargain were not nearly enough. Stormee Audalwülf is a force to be reckoned with. It is like a hurricane changing the scenery whenever she comes nearby. She is calm, stormy… she is smart, kind, and strong.Of course, I recognize in her all the traits needed to be not only a good mate but a fucking queen, and that terrifies me. She has a law degree and is brilliant around people, but the elves are in a completely different league on their own. They are aligned with nature, and they use magic.Their society is not as hierarchical as ours, but they're prone to be mean creatures when they feel threatened, and I am confident my daughter will step around some toes. Her arrival will stir a storm around the elf realm. I need to speak to Aelfred about it becu
Stormee Adalwulf"Hey, Daddy-kins..." I said as soon as he picked up the phone, and he laughed."Somehow, I feel you will get me in trouble," Dad said. He was not wrong, but then, it was a good sort of trouble—not the kind that would make anyone frown but laugh."You'll see, I am planning my coronation... which, by the way, you are all invited..." I said, and he chuckled."I didn't expect otherwise." he laughed, and I giggled. "If not as your father, as the Supreme Alpha King..." he said, and I chuckled."Of course, you will get a double invitation... just because you are special, Daddy..." I said, and he laughed."Now, I am sure you want something from me," he laughed."OK, this realm is way smaller than yours—you already know that," I said, and he listened attentively. I tried to make my point and get him on board with my idea. Al was right: Women don't plan but plot when we get together. "So, the traditions of the elven realm usually look down on women. In particular, the elder Aud
Stormee AdalwulfWhen Sary and Vamir returned, I saw that their time away had helped them enormously. "Thank you for everything, Storm. The Golden Pack Resort is terrific, the service and people are top-class, and all the perks you booked and your Uncle surprised us with were excellent," Sary said, and I smiled."Oh, I am super stressed. Maybe my queen should send me away...too..." Petra joked, and I laughed."Oh, I will, but I believe the Sky Resort is a better place for you." I winked, and she smiled."Big drops, intense activity... I am fucking in!" she beamed, and I rolled my eyes."Well, we need to focus," I said. We spoke to Anders; he is preparing the new areas of the cosmetic and supplement divisions." She nodded."Your father is growing restless and, according to Anders, is close to collapse..."
Stormee AdalwulfI sent Vamir and Sary to a little honeymoon gateway and ensured Uncle Eulisses booked all the romantic perks people enjoy at his resort. I made him book a meditation session for two, then a little ride on the yacht, and a couple of massages... a night out in a private pool, a makeover for Sary, and some sports activities for Vamir. He texted me last night, telling me he treated them to a romantic dinner by the sea. Now, that was taking the initiative, being proactive, and making me envious simultaneously.I had to help Al with things at work. Even on Saturday, we showed up because being a ruler is not a part-time job or gives you a chance to have a weekend off. I have seen it with my parents and am now experiencing it. "Anders will be here any minute..." I said to Al, and he nodded.Sary has done a superb job with the pharmaceutical company audit. She also assured Anders that his collaboration would not be announced and offered him a deal: If he
VamirI was thankful to Al and Storm for this vacation. It was weird for Sary to travel through a portal into the werewolf realm, but after she adjusted, she started enjoying the place. Our room was a suite that overlooked a beautiful beach. The beach had soft white sand, and the ocean looked green, turquoise, and clean. We arrived during the day, and after settling in our suite, we walked around the beach. The beautiful sunset was the best part of the walk: turquoise water against an orange and purple sky. Our fashion was way too different from what the werewolves used to wear. Sary´s beachwear consisted of shorts and a flowy top, while the women around the beach had tiny pieces covering just the essentials.Despite sticking up like sore thumbs, not that the others minded us, Sary was entirely in love with the place. I got a note from the front desk: "Dinner on me... Alpha Eulisses." I squinted my eyebrows, and the lady who handed me the note smiled. "We will b
AegnorAudon wants me to find a werewolf willing to kill the Elven Queen. It can't be a regular werewolf; it must be an Alpha who hates his father. It is the only way we would be able to deter the focus of an investigation in that direction rather than have people looking into us.I have heard Alpha Romeo has stomped on several subordinates' toes. I need to find the right one. I called my contact on the werewolf for real. I was helpful to Audon because I knew everything about everyone, everywhere. That meant I had a dark net of informants. Why would I do that? Because information is power, and being in Audon´s shadow is just a facade. I am the one with the valuable information. I am the one in control, even when he pretends he is."I need you to find me someone," I said,"Yes, boss..." the man on the other side of the line replied."I need an Alpha who is scorned enough with the werewolf crown that will be willing to kill their daughte
Elder AudonThere was not a strong word to describe how I felt right now. Everyone in the council, except my loyal Aegnor, greeted the intruder queen with warmth and joy.I tried to force the king to take Kasula as a breeder, but he openly refused. Even when no law forced the king to take an elven queen, I was trying to appeal to the purity of our blood and magic, so the council would force him to take an elven breeder.Even with the blood argument, the council decided to ignore my concerns and allow the king to do as he pleased. The people loved the foreign queen. I have heard that she has built a new way of doing things, and help, aid, and solace have reached the masses quickly. That woman is dangerous—dangerous to my plans. That young woman and her ideas and ways are starting to change things, and it was imperative to reach the masses in need so I could come and pass as the solution to their problems.Instead, the people have embraced her,
AelfredIt was a new experience to have the Alphas in our offices. We did it discreetly so we wouldn't raise suspicions about our backup plan. They understood the current political situation and agreed to this type of meeting. We showed them the facilities via live video provided by Blass, and they were impressed with the companies. We finished, and Eulisses and Peter wanted to see Storm. So, I created a portal for Thomas and Timothy and led them to their packs. We agreed to come to their packs to check the distribution center within two weeks, and with that, we parted ways.Vamir looked at me. "Sary is taking a toll..." He said, and I nodded."Storm noticed..." I said, and he nodded."Thanks for the vacation..." he chuckled."It's our pleasure, Vamir. You are my right hand and best friend. You are my family, and I have learned from Storm that family comes first. We look after family... always." I said, and he nodded."Thanks... you k
Stormee AdalwulfThe following morning, Al and I headed to the office. We had a lot to do. First, I plan to catch up on all the ongoing audits. Sary has been swamped at work and has made some interesting discoveries. Then, I had a meeting with Galabriel and Aerin. They want to discuss my coronation ceremony. I will also meet with Eiry to see the advances in all the social and community development projects. Later, we will include a meeting with the Education Board to improve the quality of education and round up the program with art and sports. Kids need to be kids, after all. Also, I have several observations regarding the women's archery program. It was well received, but we need Myriad to move faster with women-friendly facilities to implement it. I need to raise that concern with Aelfred. If anyone could make it happen, it would be my mate, the king.Al walked into his office, and I moved to mine. Sary walked in, and her eyes looked tired. "Hey, how i
AelfredStormee´s presentation was a success overall. Once the session ended, Galabriel and Aerin monopolized my mate's attention. I could tell both women were mesmerized by Stormee.Elrond stood beside me, his head held high and his demeanor proud. "Your father would have been proud of you," he said, and I looked at him. He was one of my dad's best friends, and unlike Audon, he mentioned my father quite often. It was as if, by saying this, he strived to keep his memory alive."Do you think so?" I asked, and he nodded."I know so.""Aego was my childhood friend..." Elrond sighed, "He would have wanted you to be happy," he said, and I nodded."I am happy..." I sighed, staring at my mate, unable to form words to convey that happy is a word that falls short where she is concerned."He was, too, with your mother..." Elrond said, and I gave him a court nod."Audon is not happy. Beware of him," he said, and I took a deep breath
