SETH OSIRIS POV
The smell of warm blood permeated the air as I stepped into the dimly lighted pub. I got a kick out of the lighting and the warm cozy feel of the room as I scanned the whole length and breadth of it.I preferred to hunt when it was dark but today I was feeling too thirsty to wait for the night. It was still early in the morning and the sun had not yet risen. The scent of blood had led me here and I wasn't going to leave until I satisfied my cravings. It would have been spectacular if it was darker, or deeper in the woods where no eyes could see.I choose the night to hunt for my prey and it was all because I loved the way the breeze blew over me and my victim, it fed my sadistic nature when they struggled, thinking that they could ever get away. I've killed a few in the heat of the moment but I've learned to be more controlled as I aged.Right now my gaze was focused on a guy seated at the end of the booth quietly drinking. He was the one giving off the scent. He had beautiful grey eyes, long hair, and delicate features. Most times I preferred my victims struggling but other times I wanted them pliant and submissive. When I was in the latter mood I always ended up killing those who struggled too much. Some prey were strong-willed, they fought until the end even though they knew they could never win. It was fun.Eyes were on me from all sides as I approached the pretty one. The lust in the room became suffocating and it was all directed toward me.The guy sensed me approaching and suddenly looked up as I got closer. It was as expected. I had a sought of pull that made people stop and stare. A beautiful blush crept up his neck and then deepened when I held his stare. His heartbeat increased making his blood pump harder. His scent filled my nose as I subtly inhale. He got fidgety the closer I got and his pheromones mixing with the blood pulsing in his veins made my fang ache."Pretty one" I called staring intently at him before taking hold of his jaw gently. He gasped audibly and I could hear all the sexual thoughts that ran through his head. He was also questioning his sexuality and that was interfering with his total submission to the power of my seduction. I smiled, enthralling him further before I leaned toward him until our faces were an inch apart."I don't care if you're a gay or not, pretty one. I'll be feeding on you tonight, and let's be honest, everyone is a little gay. You can just let it take over now" I assured in my husky voice."Umm..I..." He stammered and I gave him a charming smile that had him almost swooning judging by the rate at which his heart had sped up. I leaned close to his ear taking a gentle whiff. My fangs elongated a little."Follow me" I ordered and he nodded, already under my spell. I took his hands and he obeyed without question. We both entered the bathroom and the door clicked close behind us and then I was kissing him. He was surprised but this was part of his fantasy coming through, so he surrendered, melting against me. I loved that from a prey. I held him delicately, careful not to damage him too much, I might come back for more of such alluring blood. He got bolder, and his hands roamed over my body, tracing muscles, his war with his sexuality forgotten.I grabbed both of his hands and held them against the wall biting at his lips and drinking some of the blood that trickled down. He groaned, rubbing against me and I smirked. His heart was thrumming loudly and when I kissed down his neck, he struggled to free his hands. He must want to touch me.I bite down a bit on his pale skin and his moans of pain and pleasure were heavenly. His eyes clenched shut as he gave in to the sensation building up in his body. My hand went over his mouth at the same time I sank my fangs into his warm pulsing vein.Shocked and aroused, he screamed into my hand. His pain mixed with ecstasy. I was delirious at the feel of his blood slipping down my throat. It felt like a cool drink of ice-cold water after roaming through the desert for weeks on end.I drank just enough and let him go. He fell to the floor looking very pale and I wondered if I'd miscalculated and taken too much. Listening to his heartbeat, I knew he was going to be alright.I kneeled over him, caressing his hair. "I'll be back pretty one" I murmured into his ears. I pinched my fingers and two drops of blood fell on his neck. The bite mark disappeared.I stroked his hair, a smile on my face. I was in a good mood because his blood had been sweeter than the last I had. "Forget about me and our encounter. You won't remember any of this, pretty one" I whispered in his ear then stood up. He would probably wake up with a bad headache. He won't be like me tho.To turn a human into a vampire, it required us to drain the victim dry and when they were almost dead, we released venom from our fangs into them. The vampire venom going into their heart as they took their last breath made the change. I knew how to control my venom even when I drained humans. It was a skill only I had mastered.I walked out of the pub, squinting at the red-orange flame in the sky. I hated the sun just like all the other vampires. It was irritating and could make me burn even when I wore the protection the sorcerers gave my father. It made me thirsty too."Still set in your ways I see" Persephone's voice boomed and I turned to face her, having already Sensed her in the vicinity."Well, I was thirsty and I needed a drink""At least you didn't kill him this time. Dad still believes you're a vegetarian, a pure breed"."We'll let him keep thinking that way since I can't become the strongest If all I fed on were filthy cow blood" I gritted out in a sudden rage. Those blood made me mad. It was insane for me to quench my thirst with such an obscene substitute."What I need is the holy blood. I'll be all-powerful, and indestructible. Alaric Massimo will tremble in fear when he hears that I'm coming for him, and he will feel a neverending pain once I wipe him and his clan off the face of the earth. For good" my eyes glared red because of the rage I felt within.Persephone approached me cautiously, her smile still in place as she patted my shoulder."Well you might be closer than you think but we just got here, don't leave a trail of blood brother" she warned."I clean up good""I've noticed. I like the last guy you drained. Can I have him?""Go find your meal" I snarled. She was trying to distract me from my rage and It was working. My eyes slowly returned to their normal grey with specs of silver."You're the best when it comes to finding the best blood and I got a whiff of his. It is delicious. Let me have it and I'll look into the future for you" she offered."You're willing to go this far?""Yes I am brother" her eyes changed to a dark red "You'll give him to me, wouldn't you?".I flicked her head and her eyes changed back to their normal black."That only works on weak vampires and mere mortals""You're all-powerful, aren't you?""I only indulge you Persephone. You can have him" I relinquished and Persephone grinned."Thank you, big brother" she gushed, flipped her cloak, and was gone. She could never stand the sun. I also noticed it was starting to get hotter. The blast of sudden air against my skin was a welcome distraction from the burning sun, but with it came a powerful scent that almost knocked me off my feet in lust, thirst, desire, and possession. I could almost taste the power of it on my tongue as the scent went down my throat. My eyes turned dark red as I searched desperately for the source.I followed the scent and it got stronger, almost suffocating me. I had to calm down or I'd wreck everything in my path and could also damage the vessel which held such alluring blood. I had never felt so thirsty after a drink, so I tried to control the amount of the scent I inhaled. A predator needed to be calm and calculative to get their prey, using tactical means that guaranteed no failures. Of course, we could also just go crazy and attack. The humans never stood a chance either way. This blood was mine. No one was going to have it.The scent was thickly wrapped around a beautifully decorated coffee shop. The designs were simple yet elegant. I could get coffee here if I was human.I walked towards it and opened the door. A blast of the scent hit me with full force and I had to hold a breath and think other thoughts to distract the feverish pitch of hunger that racked through my skin. My fangs ached. I could distinctively pick out the heartbeat that pumped the blood. It was banging rapidly and loudly in my ears, driving me insane.Eyes were on me as I approached the counter. The pheromones thickened in the air again but I could only focus on the pale girl with such dark enthralling hair. Her head was bent over the coffee maker. I stopped, my dead heart kicking against my ribs. The hair almost brought a clear image of wavy dark hair in the desert sun. The scar from her knife never did heal. I should have died but I didn't.The girl beside her was staring blatantly at me, her hands frozen in the air with the cup she held.Crazy thoughts went through her mind. It was odd that the girl had not looked up. Even if it was not my aura, the sudden silence was jarring. She finally looked up and it was in slow motion. Her face was perfect and could light up any room she walked into, it was a face that was almost familiar. Her eyes made me see red tho. I'd killed a lot of victims with blue eyes. It triggered in me an animalistic urge to hurt. Her's were even exactly like Masika's. Deep blue like a turbulent yet still calm ocean. I hated her immediately even though I felt like sinking my fangs into her veins and drinking until she breathe her last.I might. I would.DAWN ATKINS POVI looked up only to freeze as I came face to face with angry grey eyes staring at me. The longer I stared, the more I was convinced that there was a haze of red clouding over them. They were unique. Scratch that, he looked freeking unreal. No wonder everyone went so quiet all of a sudden. He was human tho. A very hot gorgeous package of sin. His jaw was sharp, and he had an athletic build. Not too buff to freak me out, and not too lean to appear thin. He looked strong, powerful even. Everything about him screamed power and dominance. He had dark blue hair and his lips were red in contrast to his flawless pale skin. He was tall too and for the first time, I wanted nothing more than to pull him down towards me and get drunk on his lip.He looked perfect and graceful but he was still glaring at me and the anger radiating in his grey eyes felt like it was seeping through my skin. I was not sure if I had finally gone crazy but I swore his eyes kept flickering from light gr
Dawn opened her eyes slowly and blinked to see more clearly in the darkroom. She felt like a train had run her over. She couldn't move her hand or any part of her body and when she tried to turn her head, it was followed by a banging headache. The nightmare last night had felt real and horrible. Those were the only thought In her head, that was until she heard voices booming off the walls."You almost killed her!" A voice roared sending goosebumps up her arms."Well, I was carried away. You know how the holy blood feels like" he says indifferently like the other person was overreacting for no reason."I don't Seth and if she had died, how would you survive free of agony? You need her blood or you'd go crazy with pain!" The hard voice thundered again, but beneath the anger, Dawn could feel the concern lazed in them."The house is starting to feel suffocating brother. She has so little blood running through her veins and yet this whole place reeks of it. My control is slipping" a girl
Gracie got down from the cab and paid the fare with a glare as the driver tried for the last time to get her number. It was irritating. She felt that it would be better if he could just stay focused on doing his job as a motorist instead of making passes at his passengers and making them feel uncomfortable.Gracie ignored the leering man and walked towards the apartment. It was on a green hill that was surrounded by trees. The other neighbors lived some distance away but with the way the townspeople were nosey, she wouldn't be surprised if they were watching her from their windows. The whole neighborhood was a killjoy. She could bet a million bucks that the other neighbors were old folks and married women with kids who were all dissatisfied with the way they lived, well, maybe not all.The only guys that would even grace this sought neighborhood would be high school jocks. It was cool, but that would be a pedophilic relationship, and if sweet little Dawn ever engaged in that, it was g
Dawn opened her eyes feeling much better. She had slipped in and out of slumber and she needed water to quench her thirst. She made to move and noticed that sharp pains were coming from her arms. Glancing at her arms, she noticed it was from the needle that was connected to aid her transfusion. The room was deadly quiet. There was no sound of breathing or movement and that was when she chose to survey her surrounding. It was a grand room. The kind that a king or queen would live in, in the ancient past or someone highly placed. The materials used for the curtains that surrounded the poster bed in which she lay were soft like silk, and the bedspread felt like soft warm milky water. Gold antiques took up most of the space and the statues in the room looked alive. The tables were made with dark wood that had a really good scent. She sat up after taking off the syringe, then wobbly put her leg down on the edge of the bed, yawning and stretching her tired muscles. She felt some of her st
215 Years Back.Royal Garden."Argh!" Seth roared as he wiped off the smear of blood on his brow. Sparring with the other princes always put him in a bad mood, so he spent the rest of the day fuming and trying to let off his anger. The garden was the only place he could find solace from all the bedlam. He gazed around, then hid behind a tree as he saw his father, the Pharoah talking to a strange man behind the huge cedar tree that grew in the garden. Seth's brows furrowed in confusion. All royal matters had always been discussed in the royal court but since his beloved mother Nefertiti got ill with a strange disease, things had gone into chaos and everyone had started to act disorderly. The other wives murmured about her in their chambers, linking his mother's sickness as punishment from the gods for all the evil his father had done. He was only nineteen, and his mother had been his only guide and support which was why he felt worthless the weaker his mother got. She suffered each
Gracie felt everywhere grow warm and fuzzy as she kept drowning shots. She hoped her liver could afford how much she drank. She just needed the shitty feeling to go away..."You look like you need to vent" a smooth voice suggested and Gracie turned to face a woman who looked super attractive even though she was viewing her through drunken eyes. Something also kept screaming in her head that she knew the strange mysterious woman, but since she was almost shit-faced drunk, it seemed unlikely.Gracie chuckled and twirled her drink, her gaze fastened on the glass as of it was suddenly a mysterious item. "Vent? I guess you could say I had a shitty day at work. Might get fired too since I got into a showdown with the boss and also left before closing hours so I guess my life sucks." She drowned the content in her glass at one go barely grimacing. The lady had a beguiling smile. "You hold your drink well" she complimented sitting down on the stool beside her and looking her over."Well I don
****Dawn stared at the wall, her mind wandering as she tried to think of ways to get out of the mess she found herself in. It was hard just keeping her thought in so that her captor wouldn't know what it was she thought about, not that it solved much since he could pick up whatever it was she was feeling. It all almost felt hopeless. What was the use of trying and fighting back when all it led to was more pain? Dawn felt the pain in her head increase, making her feel much more agitated than she did before. "Here I got you something," Seth said and Dawn's gaze jerked from the bedspread she was clutching. He dropped the box into her lap and then took the seat in front of her.Dawn stared at the box, making no move to touch it. "I don't have all day, open the damn box".Dawn glared at him, then flung the box into his face. "I never asked you to get me anything, so I won't be opening whatever this is. If you want to apologize, then do that instead of trying to make everything go away w
Fatimah inhaled the air with her eyes closed as she tried for the last time to pick up the faint scent of Seth that glided along with the wind. He'd been nearby, she was sure of it, it was just a matter of pinpointing exactly where it was he had been.Fatimah opened her eyes with a frustrated sigh and the first thing she saw was a nice-looking pub. Shrugging her shoulders, she stepped toward it."It is never too early for a drink" she murmured as she stepped into the dimly lighted pub. The place looked cozy and she was sure it was a place Seth would have been in.The bartender flashed her a smile, then a wink as she walked toward him. Fatimah smiled back and took a seat on the low stool that faced him."What can I get for you today gorgeous".Fatimah watched him as she tried to decide whether she liked him or not. His blood also gave a really appetizing scent. "Why don't you surprise me. I'm not too picky, but make sure it hits".He popped the gum he was chewing as he winked. "Oh it'l
Epilogue. Getting back home took three whole days, but Dawn enjoyed every bit of it as she learned more about the extent of her powers. Seth taught her how to haunt, and after their hunting session, they explored and strengthened their mate bond until it felt as if their heart beat as one.Dawn could hear all of Seth's thoughts after she drank from him twice during their journey back home. She tried to keep it from him, but he soon figured it out when she kept laughing and blushing around him even when he was quiet. His thoughts made her feel good because they showed how whipped he was for her since he couldn't stop thinking about her. It was as if he totally changed from the brooding chaotic vampire to a lovable cuddly one with a dazzling smile that made her heart skip thousands of beats anytime he directed it at her.Seth pulled closer to her as they finally stepped foot into Syracuse."I'm thirsty" he whispered and Dawn looked at him incredulously."Are you never not thirsty"."Y
Masika blinked her eyes open as she waited, and felt nothing on her skin. Seth stood in front of her, his hand mere inches from her exposed throat. Masika dropped her hand, and stared at him, waiting for him to cut her down. "You will not be performing your stupid sacrifice tonight Masika, and look at that," he said pointing at the little hole in the walls. "The sun's already rising, and the little portal that would have provided you with your indestructible armies closed up," he told her, pointing to the charred circle where the two crosses stood.Masika looked at it, then at the red lights slipping through the holes in the wall. It was all over. Even if she wanted to perform the sacrifice it would take another century before she could attempt opening another gate to the underworld, and during that time, Seth would have gotten stronger and his Mate would no longer be a fledgling. It was all for nothing, but she wasn't going to accept defeat. She wasn't going to go down alone after e
DAWN POV.I'd welcome the cold feeling of both pain and pleasure as he gulped down my blood, and every euphoric feeling he felt overwhelmed me until it felt as if my heart was going to stop and for a second it did, or maybe it was more because I found myself floating through an endless spaceI saw and heard nothing. There was only thick darkness, and I felt cold, too cold. Voices seemed to reach me from a faraway place. I could tell that a war raged on and that the room was filled with supernatural beings trying to kill each other, but the pain of a particular person seemed to rend through my heart each time his voice reached my ear. My Mate. Seth. "You do not get to touch her" he roared, and I could feel him punching the various beings in the room as they rushed at him."You are not strong enough to stop me. I am the most powerful sorcerer, and I am going to finish this sacrifice even if I have to use your dead heart and hers." Masika screamed and a blast of dark energy was sent h
Seth gasped, his eyes flying open. And without even checking for Dawn, he could feel the heat that surrounded him from the warmth of the mate bond he shared with her, but she was different. Her scent was stronger and that awoke a hunger in him that had his fangs aching."Seth" her voice reached him and he turned to face her, his eyes greedily taking in every inch of her as he struggled with everything in him that wanted him to follow his instinct and quench his fiery thirst. "Are you alright" he forced out of his throat Instead, his fangs ached and refused to retract.Dawn stared at him before a smile touched her lips and that alone made him feel that his dead heart was suddenly thrumming in his chest and trying to beat its way out."I never thought I would be so happy to see you," she said, shaking her head as she stared at him, her gaze piercing through his soul.Seth swallowed, his throat parched dry as he watched her. His mate. The one he was destined to be with all his life."I
"What do you mean not to involve the cops? My daughter has been missing for two whole days. Are you going to keep lying to me that she is on an errand... I bloody know she is not, so you both better start talking" Amore yelled, her chest heaving as her gaze darted from Gracie to Gabriel. "Say something" she screamed when they both remained quiet."You wouldn't believe it if we told you. You'll think we were a bunch of raving lunatics" Gracie got out in a small voice as she twisted her fingers in worry, her gaze darting towards Gabriel, an unspoken question of what to do in her eyes each time."Bunch of raving lunatics... What the hell are you talking about... Just tell me where Dawn is, or I am going to go to the cops and you both will have to explain yourself there" she yelled, her hands making wild gesticulations in the air just to get a reaction out of them.Gabriel rubbed his hand over his face as he released a big sigh, his shoulder sagging dramatically.Amore lost her will to sc
A DAY LATER."I found her" Alaric announced as he stepped into the room where all the preparations for the sacrifice were being made. "She put up a good fight for a fledgling dragon, but there was nothing I couldn't handle on my own, especially with the substance you gave me." He bragged, his gaze fixed on Masika's back. A group of vampires accompanied him, and in their midst was a huge cage where Dawn lay. Her eyes were closed, and the pained expression on her face distorted her features even as she lay unconscious. Masika let out a loud sigh, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the table she stood against. "Can you believe it father" she got out gravelly, her fingers tightening against the edges of the desk she stood in front of. "Seth choose that pathetic being over me... I thought I was the love of his life, I thought he had hated you all this while because he thought you were the reason why I betrayed him, so imagine my shock when he told me that it was never because of me and
SETH POV. The energy around us burned as it started fading away and then we were all standing in the middle of the apartment. Masika had managed to get us to the island in a day with her dark powers. The blood I had taken from Fatimah-although not much-still flowed through my veins and it dispelled all the weakness that I had been facing all the while.Once, the energy of her powers faded away, the scent of Dawn's blood wrapped around the house thickly and my fangs elongated, my heart warming up at the thought of seeing my mate again, that was until the putrid scent of the dead vampire who laid a few feet from us distorted the scent in the air."Where in the dark hell are we? What the hell happened here" Fatimah asked, looking around the building before gazing back at me. She moved towards the body, her eyes taking in every little detail of it. "That is a gruesome way to die, but I must say it looks so clean, it's like a piece of art," Fatimah said as she inspected the severed head o
Gracie forced an assuring smile on her face as she walked towards the table where Gabriel was seated with Dawn's mother. They had managed to calm her down but she still looked agitated, especially since they couldn't exactly tell her that Dawn was missing and that they might never be able to find them."Where did you say Dawn went to. I have been trying to reach her and she's not been answering my calls. Do you think she is angry at me"."Of course not, Miss Amore, Dawn loves you so much, she is not angry with you"."Then why won't she pick up my calls? I was so worried, I had to rush here. I've... " She faltered, her throat moving as she swallowed. "I've been having nightmares".Gabriel reached to take her shaking hands in his and the woman finally managed to take in a deep breath."It's ok Miss Amore. Dawn will be back before you know it. She's on an errand right now, but I assure you she'll be back soon. You just have to be patient. "I know. I know" she said in a shaky voice and h
Dawn POV.The world was quiet, but inside me, a fire raged and I couldn't even scream out anymore. I closed my eyes, welcoming every scorch and the pain that accompanied it. I was changing into something I didn't know and I could tell that it was triggered by the bite of Seth on those countless occasions that he'd almost drained me dry. Speaking about Seth, I could feel him getting closer, and with that feeling came a certain level of relief, then dread because without opening my eyes I could see everything that was bound to happen once they got here. Masika would be able to carry out her sacrifice and Seth was going to die at the hand of the woman he loved, the one who killed his mother and destroyed his whole life without ever finding out the truth. He was going to die at the hands of the woman who made him into a monster and drove him to run from anyone that tried to understand and love him.I didn't know how or when but I'd learned to accept Seth for who he was. He wasn't perfe
