AEMOND’S POV

The overlapping voices of the council members chorused within the room. I leaned back in my chair, supporting my jaw with my fist while slowly tapping my pen on the laid-out mahogany table.

As much as I tried to pay attention, everything they said barely registered in my mind. I sat on Alpha Leo's seat, imagining how great it would feel sitting not as a representative but as the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack.

"I think we need to sell off our shares with Trade Bear Investment Company," Delta Stark said, his voice firm and practical.

"It's been all losses the last two quarters, and we can't afford to keep bleeding money," Delta Blake added.

A chorus of murmurs followed—affirmations, worried nods, even a few anxious glances exchanged between members.

I barely paid attention. My phone vibrated in my pocket, jolting me out of my wild, far-gone imagination. I slid it out casually, shielding the screen with my hand.

LEO'S POVI stood under the shade of the stone arch that framed the training grounds, the midday sun casting broken light through the dense canopy above. I was lost, totally torn between anger and confusion. What is he even saying? Lyra? How is that even possible? My mind was a jumble of thought that I didn't notice the condensed liquid of the energy drink in my hand, dripping down my wrist. "She was the vessel. The Moon’s Chosen. If you don’t take the power, someone else will. You deserve it. You’re their legacy. She’s just the bearer."The words he said somehow kept echoing in my head twisting inside my gut like a knife."How did you get to know?" I had asked him, curiosity etching in my tone. "How come my better now knows more than I do?"He'd smiled that sly, venom-laced grin of his and said, "When the men we had sent to abduct Jake's Luna brought her in, Zephyr had to take her with an enchanted collar. I'm sure you know what that means?" Aemond asked, raising his brows slightl

LYRA'S POVIt has been a rough couple of days for me since Caspian walked out on me at the hospital, not saying a word after overhearing the doctor mention my pregnancy. The cold look on my face, the disbelief, the disappointment etched on it was soul-shattering for me. No questions, no accusations, no goodbye—just silence and distance. That silence now filled every corner of my mind.I guess I should’ve told him. Maybe I should’ve been honest from the beginning, but everything was happening so fast. I was completely swept off by his charm, so deep I didn't pay attention to my head.I sighed, looking at my phone screen for the umpteenth time today before sliding into my pocket, straightening my shoulder, and stepping outside of the house. The wind gradually became cooler by the minute with dark clouds beginning to form in the sky. "I think it's going to rain today," I whispered to myself, taking a look at my phone again, hissing in disappointment. I blew into my hands, rubbing them

LYRA'S POVI hurried up to my feet, swerving through the display glasses stationed at different points.“Hey, ma'am! Watch your steps! The angry sales attendant spat at me, as she picked up her merchandise from the floor, though I didn't stand to apologize. “I'm so sorry,” I whispered almost inaudibly in between my heavy gasps as I ran towards Caspian. “Sorry, excuse me!” I said, pushing through onlookers and those purchasing some items. What the hell was he doing here? He didn't even have the dignity to search for me. How long has it been since I disappeared? Here he is, splashing luxury on a traitor! How demeaning can this get? Jake will always remain Jake! A manipulator!“Lyra? Lyra, is that you?” Jake's voice came behind me.“Jake, where are you going? You can't be running after someone just like that! Stop embarrassing yourself! You are creating a scene!” A second voice came through. It was Ella. She also joined the chase but not to find out if it was truly me, instead, she tri

LEO’S POVMy thoughts had constantly been haunted by Aemond's words. Just last night, I could barely sleep. What if he was right? Would giving in or somehow considering his proposal make me evil? This is what every Alpha yearned for! To be in charge, to be the controller of vast nations.“No!” I subconsciously barked out loud. “Do not turn yourself into a villain! Let this slide! Get a hold on yourself, Leo!” I spoke to myself, walking up and down the room with a glass of red wine in my hand.“What if Aemond was lying? On the contrary, what does he stand to gain from all of this? It's not like he is a power-thirsty individual. If he wanted this ability for himself, he wouldn't have informed me,” I gave voice to my thoughts. “I don't know about you, but I can't imagine possessing double the strength I have now! Double of my size and bite force,” Zeus, my wolf snarled in my mind. “I don't think you understand how powerful the legendary white wolf is! It is the raw energy of the moon g

JAKE'S POVI pushed through the entrance of the jewelry store, racing outside. “She couldn't have run that far!” I heaved deep breaths as I looked from left to right and right to left. “ Fucking hell!” I screamed, my nerves pushing against my skin around my neck.“Jake! Stop! You are embarrassing yourself! You are embarrassing me!” Ella scolded as she ran towards me, struggling to keep herself balanced on her heels.I spun around, my face contoured into a non friendly form. I stormed towards her as though I was going to take out my frustration on her. “Don't fucking tell me to stop! I knew what I saw!” I yelled at her face, saliva spreading into the air. “She was right there! I saw her! And thanks to your bullshit, I'm sure she saw me too! Gosh!” I clawed my finger into my head, holding it tightly. “If you hadn't insisted I accompany you to get some jewelry, I wouldn't be in this compromising situation.“I’m sure she'd be thinking we are likely getting married. You've always wanted h

LEO'S POV“Easy!” I winced in pain as the nurse gently wrapped medicated gauze around my palm.“Sorry sir,” the nurse responded to my reaction.I hadn't spoken to nor seen Lyra since the incident last night. “How bad is the burn?” I asked.“It is just a first-degree burn sir, you should be fine in a couple of weeks, with proper dressing, some analgesic, and antibiotics,” she responded, clipping the loose edge of the bandage.“Good morning sir,” Aemond greeted, walking in on me and the nurse. His gaze shifted to my hand in shock. “What the hell happened to you, sir?” He queried, examining my wrapped arm.“It’s nothing, I got burnt but it's just a mild scratch,” I responded casually, hoping it would stop him from asking further questions but Aemond was one inquisitive individual. “You may leave us now, Nurse Zoey,” I shifted my gaze to the nurse, who nodded, packing up her first aid box. Aemond and I just stared at each other for the period she was putting her things in order.“These a

LYRA’S POV“Tara! Tara! Stop!” I yelled, my heart racing. I couldn’t control her, all she wanted to do was to tear out of me and attack. As the protector of the pendant and the bearer, Tara would never take any chances with anyone who posed a threat to me, even if it was my brother.YOU NEED TO STAY BACK AND LEARN HOW TO CONTROL YOUR WOLF AND YOUR ABILITIESMy mind reeled back to what Selene had told me back in ShadowClaw. Maybe I should have listened. Ever since Tara returned, she was no longer the sweet little pup I used to know. Though she was still sweet, but, a lot of chances had taken place. Changes I couldn’t control.“What are you doing, Lyra?” Leo asked, his voice trembling as his gaze faltered. “I don’t know Leo, just drop the damn pendant!” I yelled again, this time I felt Tara connecting to the Pendant. “Wha…What are you doing?” I muttered inaudibly. Tara’s body began to heat up inside of me. I knew what she was doing. “Arrh! Leo’s voice echoed into the night with a loud

LEO’ S POVWhy are younger siblings so difficult to handle? I thought, tearing through rogues coming at me from the front gate. I had no idea who they were and why they were attacking. All that mattered to me at this point was to hurry off and get Lyra out of this before she got hurt or worst of all, taken.I disabled the last rogue coming at me before racing off to find Lyra. “Lyra!” I called out, darting through the woods with branches and leaves, slapping and tearing my chest as I ran. All I heard was the sound of dry leaves crushing under my feet as I raced till I heard a scream, my heart stopped. “Lyra!” I whispered, my eyes popped out in fear. “No no no,” I growled, changing my direction towards the east wing. What my eyes saw made me halt in my tracks. I lost my breath for a minute. Bodies littered all over the place. “What the hell happened?” I whispered to myself, my eyes darting from left to right when I spotted Tara, standing on a hill. Her thick white fur was stained with

ALPHA JAKE'S POVThe blades of the helicopter swirled rapidly with a deafening roar above us as we stepped down with our heads slightly bowed. The whirlwind created by the blades caused our hair to fly wildly across our faces. Squinting to avoid particles raised by the wind into our eyes, we all hurried towards the escort vehicle waiting at the extraction point. Damon and I trailed behind the extraction team who led the way with Caspian Reed.“Was there any casualty?” I asked, taking off my bulletproof vest. My breath was ragged, the adrenaline rush slowly began to fade off. It was indeed a close call for us.Damon reconnected his comms, fitting the buds back into his ears. “Eagle team can you hear me?” He spoke into the telecom hoping to get a feedback. The feed crackled for a moment until a response came from the other end.“Sergeant Mike here, this is the eagle team! Everything looks good over here. The boys are good, no casualty, just minor grazes, over!” Sergeant Mike informed u

LEO’S POVI followed behind as Zephyr led the way to the temple. Our footsteps echoed softly through the tunnel as we moved with caution, careful not to draw attention.Lyra’s body hung limply over the guard’s shoulder. Her hands swayed from left to right as we walked down. My heart somehow bled at the sight of her in that state but, who cares? The voices in my head screamed for power.I turned my gaze to Aemond, who had been walking beside me in silence, his shoulders were square and unbothered, seemingly enthusiastic about the whole drama. As we drew closer, I felt my stomach twist. I bit hard on my teeth, tightening the muscles around my jaw. My fists remained clenched at my sides, so hard my knuckles turned pale.I had made my decision. Every moment I reminded myself: this was for the pack. For my legacy. I would never give away everything I fought so hard to gain on the altar of family ties. We finally arrived at the temple. The torches ignited along the corridor, trembling lik

JAKE’S POV“How on earth is that possible? Blood Moon Pack?” my stomach churned with anger. “How were they able to sneak in and out of Shadowclaw, kidnap Lyra, and walk away freely and no one noticed?” I thundered, my chest rose and fell as I fumed.“I wish I had an answer to that, Alpha Jake,” Dmon replied evenly. “I was out on a business trip when the incident occurred. There couldn’t have been a way I would have known or suspected any malicious act was brewing under our nose,” Damon explained in a curt tone.I wasn’t ready to listen to what Damon had to say. My senses were clouded, my blood boiling. How could Lyra be scooped up by a neighboring Pack like some trash can? “I want to know the chief guard in charge on that day! This is the height of incompetence and I would not condone such a level of carelessness,” I barked.I turned sharply, my gaze fixed on Damon. “I need a message sent to Alpha Leo, declaring war! If he wants to play the dirty game of politics then I’m all out for

JAKE’S POVThe lightning sent a bolt of charges across the sky followed by the roaring and loud drumming of the thunder as heavy rainfall splattered on the roof down to the floor. The streets were deserted, and only a few could be spotted running back to their homes. I stood on the balcony with a cup of hot coffee and milk covered with thick woolen robes and socks gazing far into the road. It’s been a week since I ordered surveillance to be mounted on Caspian Reed, yet till now, no tangible information has been collected about him- he was indeed a ghost, or possibly a chameleon, perfectly camouflaging and good at covering his tracks. I had hoped he could lead my men to find out who this Lyra was, but so far, it only led to dead ends.“It’s a cold night, Your Grace. Wouldn’t it be rather comfortable and more relaxing being in each other's arms other than standing out here alone, staring into the dead, cold night?” Ella asked, sneaking up on me from behind with a soft seductive tone. LYRA'S POV"Get her!!"Leo's loud voice cut through like thunder, sharp and commanding, distorting the peace of the moment. Something about him was entirely different. I didn’t have the time to decipher what was going on as my body reacted before my brain could catch up. My legs immediately wheeled into motion driving me straight into the forest path.I ran so fast like my life depended on it. Dry branches stung my face and arms like a long whip, piercing my skin through my clothes as I raced through the thick forest. My lungs ached as I sprinted, pushing through the obstacles. The pounding of my heart and the quick loud gasps of air deafened my ears. They were louder than the snarls of guards chasing after me from behind. The guards were close. Too close. I looked over my shoulder, observing how close they were when my foot caught on a root. My hands flew up to brace myself, but it was too late. I stumbled, rolling over into a nearby ditch, till I got stopped by a huge root. I gro

LEO’S POVI stood in front of the mirror checking out my abs after an intense two-hour session of cardio and muscle toning exercises. Beads of sweat ran down my temples, dripping from my chin and from my neck lining the contours of my abs and disappearing into the waistline of my thick pants. I wiped at it absently with the back of my hand, only for more ripples to form from my pores. I pulled down my singlet which stuck to my body, soaked with sweat from the intense session I just finished. My muscles ached, throbbing from the weight lifts, yet I embraced the discomfort. The pain and weariness served as reminders I was still in control—of my body and choices.I reached for the towel on the side table and dragged it across my face and neck, then snatched up the bottle of energy drink, gulping it down in three swallows. The citrus sting hit the back of my throat and I exhaled, wiping my mouth with my forearm. That’s when the door creaked open.“Your Grace.” Aemond’s voice sliced thr

JAKE'S POVI was going through the business plans, flipping through pages and marking important notes when Caspian’s phone buzzed in my hand. My gaze instinctively fell on the name displayed above the document I was checking out.“Lyra?”The name on his screen shot through me like a lightning bolt, making my entire body jolt. I held tighter on the phone, my heart pounding in my chest as I stared at the name glowing on the screen like some twisted joke.I batted my eyelid once, twice and the third time hoping my senses were playing tricks on me but It didn’t go away. Every fibre in me pulled hard inside me urging me to minimize and find out who this Lyra is.The name has haunted my every breath, every waking hour since the day she vanished. I had searched every possible realm, spoken to the Moon Seers, even interrogated rogues in the dungeons—and yet nothing. And here it was, her name… lighting up another man’s phone. What are the odds she was who I was looking for? What if it’s a diff

JAKE'S POV The oak desk trembled under the weight of my clenched fists. Papers—maps, reports, meaningless pages of failed updates—scattered onto the floor as I slammed them away. The silence in the room was heavy, but not nearly as heavy as the storm brewing inside me. Damon stood at a distance, tense, his jaw set like stone."How the hell did you lose her? She was right there, all you had to do was, walk in and find her!" I spat, my voice sharp and cracking with frustration.Damon didn’t flinch. He rarely did. But I saw the flicker of regret in his eyes. "Jake," he started, his voice low and calm. “We have combed through the entire city, but we can't seem to find her.”“Do not give me that crap, Damon!” I blurted out in frustration, veins bulging my forehead and neck. "What do you mean you can't find her?” I asked. “Rio is not that much of a big city! Check every damn street, every village, estate, and whatever there is!” my tone laced with frustration as I yelled.“But Alpha, I alr
