SELENE’S POV

A lot has been said about my origin, most people think of me as a demi-god, others think of me as an ancient relic in human form; different speculations but then, I am just a normal human frozen by time.

I was born just like every normal girl, living with her parents in a small town with dreams and aspirations until my life took an extraordinary turn at the age of nine.

I was chosen by the moon goddess as a priestess and a healer. My clan never saw it that way; I was termed an abomination, a witch because I couldn’t control my abilities which cost me my parent's life. I was banished, left to fend for myself in the outside world that had no mercy for rogues.

As the years went by, I grew stronger and amongst all, I stopped aging at the age of twenty-five. Everyone I came across saw me as a threat until I met Lunaris, a handsome, young, healer in ShadowClaw.

He had a way of connecting to my soul in a way that felt magical, maybe, intimate. We had the best love life anyone

JAKES’S POVSelene’s voice cut through the moment like a sharp blade making me turn to her direction. Her eyes burned with a sense of urgency you will only see when whatever she had to talk about is a matter of life or death.I had no time to hear her out at the moment, not when the rivalry between Ella and Lyra was driving me crazy. Lyra stood with her tears streaked face and a puppy eye while Ella was already making a fuss about Selene’s presence. What’s with women and bickering? I thought, heaving a deep sigh before responding to Selene’s demand “Can whatever it is you have to say wait for a minute?” I asked in a harsh tone, obviously pissed.“No!, It cannot!” Selene shot back at me. “I have a message from the moon goddess, and it might interest you to hear what it is,” She said, with her brows slightly raised.“What more does the moon goddess have to say?” Ella interjected. “Keep your sick, old prophecy to yourself. I’m sure Lyra over here has paid you off to come speak ill about

JAKE'S POVLyra is the last descendant of the Moonlit Pack; those words kept repeating themselves in my thoughts. Who could have known she was? To some extent, my heart leaped with Joy. After what seemed like the impossible, the moon goddess finally looked at me with pity and decided to lift this curse off me. But on the contrary, I had ruined my chances at it.The thought circled like a storm, crashing against everything I thought I knew. I had spent so much time pushing her away, justifying my decisions, convincing myself I was doing what was best for my pack. But now, the truth stood in front of me, impossible to ignore. Lyra was my true mate, the woman I had rejected and hurt, was the only one who could break my curse. I felt the weight of my mistakes pressing down on my shoulders as I leaned forward into the table with my hands supporting my temple. There was no need to beat up myself. The deed had been done and I had to find a way out of it.I reached for my phone from my poc

JAKE'S POVFor what felt like ages, the weight of my words settled into the deafening silence of the room. Both Damon and my mum sat back with their lips wide apart as if they wanted to say something but no words came out. All they could do was exchange looks of shock with each other as they tried to process the revelation I had just thrown at them.I couldn't blame them for their reaction. The irony in this sudden discovery was enough to send anyone into shock. A woman I had suddenly treated with unexplainable disdain turned out to be the savior I had longed for.Damon cleared his throat, finally getting a hold of his emotions. Pushing himself forward, he leaned into the table with his palm supporting his chin glaring straight into my eyes.“So let me get this straight,” he said slowly. “You rejected your fated mate, humiliated her, pushed her away, let Ella take her place… and now, after everything, you find out she’s the one person who can save you?”Unable to respond to his rhetor

LYRA'S POVMy body shook as the stinging cold of the night found a way to penetrate my thick sweat coat. My fingers felt numb but I held tight on my box pulling it along like my life depended on it as I made my way out of the house. The house that had once felt like my fortress suddenly became a prison, its wall closing in on me every single minute, suffocating me. I couldn't breathe neither could I think. Regardless, a part of me still felt there was something left for me behind those walls. Maybe Jake would come to a realization he had hurt me. Maybe he'd come running through those doors begging me to stay. "Stop imagining stuff, Lyra:" I muttered to myself, shaking off those thoughts as I forged ahead. The sound of approaching footsteps made my heart drop. Could It be Jake? I think he must have found out I am missing in the house. I hurriedly hastened my steps, searching for a spot to hide out but the dim light from the security lights did little to help my situation. The hurried

Dragons had gone extinct, I would have said he wanted to use them to bind one down here in the dungeon,” The second guard responded. They both burst into a peal of laughter, careful not to let me hear them but I guess they forgot I was an Alpha and I could hear spoken words from an unimaginable distance, and second of all, I could use my mind link to hear thoughts.“How about I use those chains to suspend you both in the air? Maybe you’d learn how to be more competent and focused !” I snapped at them.“I’m sorry, we are sorry, Your Grace!” They both shuddered as they bowed to apologize before scattering out of the dungeon to continue preparations for today's event. Finally, the long-awaited full-blood moon ceremony was here.Damon walked into the dungeon, wearing a pair of baggy shorts and a matchin

The protector of our realm!” Selene proclaimed, bowing before the temple.“All hail the mother of light!” Everyone chorused in unison, bowing to their knees with their foreheads pressing against the floor. In no time, the prayers were over and immediately followed by loud music and chants echoing through the night. I sat back in my chair, watching the event unfold before me. The pack members were jumping and twisting their bodies in rhythm to the melodious beats from the speakers. It was indeed a grand ceremony! I ought to be happy and flow with the spirit of the night but unease tightened my chest. Fear, doubts, and guilt all crept through my mind at once. I shifted my gaze to Damon who sat adjacent to me, signaling him to come over to the podium where I sat.“Have you seen Lyra since the event started?” I asked Damon, screaming aloud because my voice was almost drowned by the noisy environment.“Yes, Your

LYRA’S POVLast night was nothing short of unease. I had made myself a warm glass of milk hoping it would help but for every time I closed my eyes, voices, nightmares and unsettling thoughts kept my eyes peeled. "56, 57, 58, 59, finally 7am!" I muttered, slamming shut the alarm before pushing myself up from the bed. I had been staring at my digital alarm clock counting along with every tick sound it made till it was finally dawn.My body ached in a way I couldn’t quite explain, like I had run for miles in my sleep. My bones made a cracking sound, fixing into place as I stretched out myself, yawning. Something about this day felt cold and off as though an unseen force was pressing down on me. Ignoring the gnawing feeling in my mind I headed to the shower, before joining others to prepare for the day.I scanned to the many faces walking back and forth around the house in search of Jake but couldn't find him. He had explained the significance of the ceremony earlier. Nonetheless, I fel

LYRA'S POV"Arrh.." I grunted as a sharp pain stabbed me in my ribs. I gradually sat upright on the bed, holding tight on my side. How did I get here? The last thing I remembered was being sucked up by the moon's energy and then transforming into my wolf. Its thick white furs swayed as I shook them, seeing the surroundings from Tara's view was indeed the highlight of the night until Lucio struck. My head pounded so badly against my skull and my throat was as dry as sandpaper. As the daze gradually cleared off my eyes, I shifted my gaze to see those standing around me in the room.A pang of anger cut through my chest as their faces came into focus. Lisa and Tessa stood by the foot of the bed with what seemed like remorse or perhaps regrets in their eyes. One more person was remaining. Where is that Liar? I screamed in my head as my eyes darted to the other side of the room to see him standing stiffly by the window with his arms crossed. Patches of plaster stuck to his face with banda

I have worked my ass off, my sweat, my blood, yet you keep taking credit for all! No acknowledgement! Wait till I take everything from you and have you stripped on the street,” I spat venom at Leo in my head, still maintaining a submissive look. I nodded with my gaze fixed on him, with a forced smile, while I tightened my fist away from his view.“I am happy you're beginning to see reasons with me, your Grace. I'd reach out immediately to Zephyr. I am certain he would be able to give me more insight about the pendant,” my voice rang with so much excitement as I stood up to exit the bar.My phone buzzed in my pocket, I reached out to see it was Ella. I took a sharp glance at Leo. Luckily his face was buried in his phone. Clicking on the message icon, I realized it was Ella.I AM YET TO GET AN UPDATE ON THAT BITCH. WHY IS SHE STILL BREATHING? All that mattered to me at this point was to hurry off and get Lyra out of this before she got hurt or worst of all, taken.I disabled the last rogue coming at me before racing off to find Lyra. “Lyra!” I called out, darting through the woods with branches and leaves, slapping and tearing my chest as I ran. All I heard was the sound of dry leaves crushing under my feet as I raced till I heard a scream, my heart stopped. “Lyra!” I whispered, my eyes popped out in fear. “No no no,” I growled, changing my direction towards the east wing. What my eyes saw made me halt in my tracks. I lost my breath for a minute. Bodies littered all over the place. “What the hell happened?” I whispered to myself, my eyes darting from left to right when I spotted Tara, standing on a hill. Her thick white fur was stained with

LYRA’S POV“Tara! Tara! Stop!” I yelled, my heart racing. I couldn’t control her, all she wanted to do was to tear out of me and attack. As the protector of the pendant and the bearer, Tara would never take any chances with anyone who posed a threat to me, even if it was my brother.YOU NEED TO STAY BACK AND LEARN HOW TO CONTROL YOUR WOLF AND YOUR ABILITIESMy mind reeled back to what Selene had told me back in ShadowClaw. Maybe I should have listened. Ever since Tara returned, she was no longer the sweet little pup I used to know. Though she was still sweet, but, a lot of chances had taken place. Changes I couldn’t control.“What are you doing, Lyra?” Leo asked, his voice trembling as his gaze faltered. “I don’t know Leo, just drop the damn pendant!” I yelled again, this time I felt Tara connecting to the Pendant. “Wha…What are you doing?” I muttered inaudibly. Tara’s body began to heat up inside of me. I knew what she was doing. “Arrh! Leo’s voice echoed into the night with a loud

His gaze shifted to my hand in shock. “What the hell happened to you, sir?” He queried, examining my wrapped arm.“It’s nothing, I got burnt but it's just a mild scratch,” I responded casually, hoping it would stop him from asking further questions but Aemond was one inquisitive individual. “You may leave us now, Nurse Zoey,” I shifted my gaze to the nurse, who nodded, packing up her first aid box. I stormed towards her as though I was going to take out my frustration on her. “Don't fucking tell me to stop! I knew what I saw!” I yelled at her face, saliva spreading into the air. “She was right there! I saw her! And thanks to your bullshit, I'm sure she saw me too! LEO’S POVMy thoughts had constantly been haunted by Aemond's words. Just last night, I could barely sleep. What if he was right? Would giving in or somehow considering his proposal make me evil? This is what every Alpha yearned for! To be in charge, to be the controller of vast nations.“No!” I subconsciously barked out loud. “Do not turn yourself into a villain! Let this slide! Get a hold on yourself, Leo!” I spoke to myself, walking up and down the room with a glass of red wine in my hand.“What if Aemond was lying? On the contrary, what does he stand to gain from all of this? It's not like he is a power-thirsty individual. If he wanted this ability for himself, he wouldn't have informed me,” I gave voice to my thoughts. “I don't know about you, but I can't imagine possessing double the strength I have now! Double of my size and bite force,” Zeus, my wolf snarled in my mind. “I don't think you understand how powerful the legendary white wolf is! It is the raw energy of the moon g

He didn't even have the dignity to search for me. How long has it been since I disappeared? Here he is, splashing luxury on a traitor! How demeaning can this get? Jake will always remain Jake! A manipulator!“Lyra? Lyra, is that you?” Jake's voice came behind me.“Jake, where are you going? You can't be running after someone just like that! Stop embarrassing yourself! LYRA'S POVIt has been a rough couple of days for me since Caspian walked out on me at the hospital, not saying a word after overhearing the doctor mention my pregnancy. The cold look on my face, the disbelief, the disappointment etched on it was soul-shattering for me. No questions, no accusations, no goodbye—just silence and distance. That silence now filled every corner of my mind.I guess I should’ve told him. Maybe I should’ve been honest from the beginning, but everything was happening so fast. I was completely swept off by his charm, so deep I didn't pay attention to my head.I sighed, looking at my phone screen for the umpteenth time today before sliding into my pocket, straightening my shoulder, and stepping outside of the house. The wind gradually became cooler by the minute with dark clouds beginning to form in the sky. "I think it's going to rain today," I whispered to myself, taking a look at my phone again, hissing in disappointment. I blew into my hands, rubbing them

I was lost, totally torn between anger and confusion. What is he even saying? Lyra? How is that even possible? My mind was a jumble of thought that I didn't notice the condensed liquid of the energy drink in my hand, dripping down my wrist. "She was the vessel. The Moon’s Chosen. If you don’t take the power, someone else will. You deserve it. You’re their legacy. She’s just the bearer."The words he said somehow kept echoing in my head twisting inside my gut like a knife."How did you get to know?" I had asked him, curiosity etching in my tone. "How come my better now knows more than I do?"He'd smiled that sly, venom-laced grin of his and said, "When the men we had sent to abduct Jake's Luna brought her in, Zephyr had to take her with an enchanted collar. I'm sure you know what that means?" Aemond asked, raising his brows slightl
