One day earlier...

Riordan was enraged. He saw red as he turned the house upside down, checking every nook and cranny for the adult woman he left here what felt like seconds ago!

Fiona finally woke up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and looking around in confusion.

“Where is she?” He snarled.

“Who? Freya?” She asked. “She left.”

It felt like somebody grabbed a hold of his heart and yanked it out of his chest.

“What do you mean she left?” He growled. The little girl’s eyes widened and she took a terrified step back, her eyes filling with tears as she didn’t fully understand that his rage was not directed at her.

“I think you should step out and calm yourself.” Maria slid between him and Fiona, pulling the little girl close. His beast rattled his cage mightily in his chest and he grasped his hair, pulling frantically.

She left, she left, she left.

His heart pounded, in sync with the pounding of his head. He felt tattered, volatile, like he was fraying at the edges.

“The Wild Hunt?” She asked, a foreboding shiver running down her spine. “Shinay?”They looked at the attacking Council dogs, still locked into motion and behind their skeletal faces, she could swear she felt derision. “We shall kill all of your enemies for you.” They declared. The Wild Hunt, Freya grasped to understand this impossibility taking place in front of her very eyes. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place and so she said nothing as they made a chittering noise amongst themselves and met the Council dogs mid-lunge. Time resumed again and it was her first time seeing the Council dogs falter. To them, the Wild Hunt materialised from thin air and though shaken, all six of them fought to their very last breath. If Freya wasn’t so wary of what she just unlocked, she would have appreciated the beauty really. Adrian Drunsquille was doing exactly as he’d been instructed, to do nothing. He’d caused enough problems and a few days ago, he was finally summoned and been given a suggestion to take a vacation. “Vacation my ass.” He muttered. He knew an exile when he saw one. They needed him out of the way, steering up no trouble for the six months they required to seal the deal in his absence. He tried to find some interest in the dancing ladies and failed. A dangerous apathy had settled on his mind and nothing he did filled that hole. He fucked and drank and gambled all day and yet that hole only seemed to yawn wider with every passing day. He was wasting his time. He was just about to stand when the roof caved in. He felt a flare of anger and leaped up. He’d paid an exorbitant fee for the peace and solitude to brood in his thoughts and what was this interruption?“What the fuck is the meaning of this?” He snapped. She landed in the middle of the debris and he felt his anger falter. An immor

Freya couldn’t believe this was happening to her. She didn’t want this man, whoever he was, he was a stranger and a nuisance. The only man she wanted was Riordan but Riordan was nowhere in sight and when the strange male made a low sound at the back of his throat and ground against her like he was helpless to resist, she moaned; turned on like her body was on fire. Immediately the guilt followed, and the denial. This stranger was not the man she wanted, he had surely done something to trick her wolf into thinking he was her mate. She gritted her teeth and ripped her arm from his. Gripping his shoulder, she flipped their position, fisting his shirt and growling in his face. “Take me back!” Her voice was nearly a scream as she shook him hard. “Take me back right this instant!” “I said I cannot!” He hissed. “Even if I could, what makes you think that I would want to?” “You fucking bastard!!” She screamed her rage and tried to head-butt him but he was quicker, evading her attack. Freya walked for hours, determined to walk her way out of the strange field while ignoring the man that just wouldn’t shut up. “Like I said, there’s no cause for concern. I used to portal myself accidentally all the time when I was young.” He continued and she gritted her teeth in annoyance, marching straight ahead while sweat drizzled down her back. “It worried the kingdom then, my mother thought I would some day portal myself right into the Underworld or something. I did once, barely returned with my life intact.” He continued chattily. She bit down hard on her curiosity but the questions burned her mind. What did he see down there? Was he just a child when he portaled himself to the Underworld? Was the realm as terrible as it was believed to be? She refused to indulge him however, wanted nothing at all to do with him. “The other times were much less dramatic but not any less dangerous. I once found myself in the depths of the ocean once. Another time it was a realm made of de

Freya snuck a glance behind her, glimpsing the long bony creatures that rose high above the field of tall grass. She saw three of them and they were pale as the moon itself with long spindly arms and legs such that one of their strides was three of hers. “What the hell are they?!” She hissed. “I’ve seen their type before.” Said Adrian. “It’s enough to say that they’re not picky eaters.” They were still running but the creatures were closing in on them fast. “Take off your jacket!” He ordered. “Now is not the time to be trying to get into my pants!” She snapped. “Touché Princess. There’s never ‘not’ a good time to try but that’s not what I’m about. Trust me and take the jacket off or the both of us will be warming those creature’s bowels forever.”“I’m not a fucking princess.” She growled and yanked the jacket off her shoulder. “Of course you’re not.” He took the jacket from her, never breaking stride as he hurled it far. “Why did you do that?” She yelled. “Because our pursue

If she could just gain some leverage, she could push her way out but as if the tree was an expert at kidnapping sleeping women, the thick roots had immobilised her legs and her arms entirely. It was meant to be.” Said Geoffriane. “We waited for you for a hundred thousand years. You are the only one that can save us.”“I still believe in the vision.” She said as she stepped forward and tentatively touched the Ghost Rider’s cold face. “You have suffered for too long, thanks to merciless gods that use us only for their amusement.”“So let’s kill everybody. It’s the only way we can get eternal rest.” Geoffriane pleaded. “There’s another way.” She pointed out. “I would never leave you to continue suffering eternally. He also tried to step forward but he couldn’t take up to two steps before her magic forced him to a stop.“We are not your enemies.” Zeldaurus said. “”We are here to help you.”Tears streamed down her eyes and she kept her hands up, her magic up. “No, you are my enemies.”She had no idea what they had done to her brain, why it felt like someone had broken her head open and was scooping out the contents with a scalding hot spoon. The Wild Hunt opened the door to the next realm and Shinay lead them into it. Everywhere they went, screams started then blood started to flow. Death was no longer inevitable, it was here. Whoever she was before was weak, now she was exactly as she was meant to be. The screams had started afresh and she smiled coldly as she raised her face to the sky and sent thunderbolts down into the realm. The realm inhabitants were magic wielders and they tried to defend themselves with it. But how could you kill what was already dead? Behind her, the army of the Dead rode, screaming their rage as they rode to avenge their misfortune. Regardless, there’s nothing more you can do but wait now.” Rooke said calmly, trying to appeal to his rational mind but Adrian’s mind was spinning a thousand terrible scenarios, all preventing him from relaxing even a little. “What if my portal went rogue and threw her into another realm?” “Adrian!” Rooke snarled, standing. Faerie was first. The sky darkened suddenly, and all of the Fae glanced up at the ominous sign. Fariee weather never changed, and never before had they seen the sky darken with heavy clouds and the clouds roil with lightning and thunder. They all looked to the sky as the Wild Hunt emerged."Take back your power." Geoffraine urged and Shinay cast a perusing glance at the realm spread out before her. There, something called to her from deep inside the Winter court. She rode her horse for the piece of her that called to her."Ah. There she is." The female remained unconscious and inside her was the source of her ailment. Shinay thought she looked familiar but she didn't care to know why. Her power was a roiling ball of darkness in the female's chest, sucking up all of the female's energy and leaving her comatose. That was what Shinay wanted. "Come." Shinay crooked a finger and that ball eagerly lifted. It was never meant to be inside the female, there was no one alive that could cont

At first, nothing happened. It was one last moment of silence right before the magic of the blood oath hit her like a ram. She sucked in a breath as the magic sunk into her blood, into her bones and when it pulled back out, it took everything from her. It felt like she died, she was almost sure it took her life away, her soul migrated out of her body, her very essence flowing out through her bloody hand and into the queen. The Queen gasped, staggering back but she kept the contact on her hand. Her magic migrated out of her body, through her hand and into the queen. It streamed out in dark waves, and she could hear Zeldaurus's silent yells but not really. Her world narrowed down into those waves, streaming out faster now. It hurt. She gritted her teeth against the pain, worse than anything she ever felt “; it was in her blood, in her bones. The four other warriors fanned out beside the queen, their shrewd gases monitoring every little breath she took. “What is the meaning of this?” Freya hissed, trying to get on her feet but the queen clamped her fist and the invisible net forced her back to her knees.“You can quit your struggling, there is no getting out of that unless I will it.” Said The Queen.Freya’s eyes practically spit fire as she glared at the
