Kara's POV

"Is she up yet?"

"Not yet, Boss."

Familiar voices murmured around me. My head throbbed as I forced my heavy eyelids open. A dull ache pulsed behind my eyes, but I fought through it.

"Kara, are you there?" a soft voice coaxed gently.

I blinked, adjusting to the dim lighting of the room. It was the same place I had woken up earlier, but this time, I wasn’t alone. Gigi, Zayn, and others stood around me.

My gaze landed on Rodrigo, who stood by the window, his hands tucked into his pockets, his expression unreadable.

"Finally, you're up. You scared us," Gigi said with a relieved smile.

I barely heard her. My mind replayed Rodrigo’s words from before, haunting me even in unconsciousness.

"Rodrigo," I called out, and the room fell silent as all eyes shifted toward him. "What do I do now?"

"First, we get you prepared for the shift," he said without hesitation. "I know you have a lot of questions, and I promise to answer them, but right now, we need to focus."

Something was different. My body felt… off. The sharp pain in my ankle was gone, the wound nonexistent. I ran my fingers over my skin, finding nothing but smooth flesh.

"It healed on its own," Gigi explained, sensing my confusion.

A sharp, aching throb pulsed through my gums, my senses tingling. I could hear the waves of the ocean outside, clearer than ever. Every sound, every scent, intensified. My pulse quickened.

Rodrigo motioned for me to follow him, and I obeyed, my feet moving almost instinctively. He led me down the hall to a door, its heavy frame sending an unsettling chill down my spine.

"What is this place?" I asked, hesitating at the threshold.

"A cellar," he replied simply, stepping inside.

The dimly lit room was different from the rest of the house. The air was thick with something primal. My eyes darted around, taking in the chains, collars, and handcuffs that lined the walls. My stomach churned.

"Why are we here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Rodrigo turned to face me, exhaustion evident in his features. Dark circles clung beneath his eyes, proof that he hadn’t rested in days—weeks, even.

"We’re here for you, sweet Kara," he murmured.

"For me?"

"Yes."

Before I could process his words, pain shot through my legs. I screamed as I crumpled to the ground, agony coursing through every nerve in my body.

"It has begun," Rodrigo muttered.

"What has—?" My sentence broke off as another wave of pain shattered through me.

My bones twisted and contorted, sending fresh agony ripping through me. I couldn’t stop the scream that tore from my throat. Before I knew it, Rodrigo grabbed me, dragging me to the wall. Cold metal snapped around my wrists and ankles.

"Please—stop! What are you doing?" I gasped between ragged breaths.

"Relax. This is safer for you. I promise, the pain will pass."

Safe? This was anything but safe.

A guttural scream wrenched from my lips as the pain worsened. My body burned, my skin stretching and shifting as fur sprouted across my arms. Claws extended from my fingers, sharp and lethal. My legs buckled, reforming into something… inhuman.

I tried to scream, but all that came out was a howl.

I wasn't me anymore.

Rodrigo's POV

She had shifted.

I watched as Kara, now in full wolf form, growled and thrashed against the chains. Her sleek brown fur bristled with agitation, her golden eyes locked onto me with wild fury.

"Boss, how is she?"

Zayn stepped into the room, glancing at the restrained wolf.

"Successfully shifted," I said, arms crossed. "But, as expected, she’s not taking it well."

"She’s aggressive in person, too," Zayn mumbled, earning a smirk from me.

"She’ll settle."

We stepped out of the cellar, leaving her to adjust. Her howls echoed behind us, primal and untamed.

"Boss, any idea who bit her?" Gigi asked later as we sat in my office.

I exhaled, rubbing my temples. "No clue. But whoever it was… they’re not ordinary."

The next morning, the sun stood high in the sky as I walked into the cellar, a blanket draped over my arm.

She was curled on the ground, bloodied and trembling. Her human form had returned, leaving her naked and vulnerable. I unshackled her chains, then wrapped the blanket around her before lifting her into my arms.

She stirred hours later, dressed and lying in her bed. A book rustled as I flipped through its pages beside her.

"Rodrigo…" she murmured, her voice hoarse.

"You slept all day, Miss Nox," I teased, smirking.

"Miss Nox?" she repeated, frowning.

The door creaked open, and the boy from before entered, placing a tray of food beside her.

Her stomach growled at the sight, and she wasted no time digging in.

"I'll be in my office when you’re done," I said, standing. Without waiting for a response, I left.

---

When she walked into my office later, I was buried in paperwork. She leaned against the desk, arms crossed.

"I never pictured you as a paperwork guy," she mused.

I raised a brow, smirking. "And what did you picture?"

She shrugged. "I don’t know… guns, warehouses, maybe even drugs."

A deep chuckle escaped me. "You need to do better research, Miss Nox."

She rolled her eyes, and I slid a tablet across the desk.

"Before you start asking questions, there’s something you should see."

She picked up the tablet, her expression shifting from confusion to horror as she read.

"How is this possible?" she whispered.

I leaned forward. "Everything in that article is true. Zach Bills and the ASA are not who you think they are."

Her breath hitched.

"And I also know you were raped."

Silence.

Her body tensed, hands clutching the tablet.

"You knew?" she whispered. Her voice cracked, eyes glassy with unshed tears.

"The doctor confirmed signs of assault after your check-up."

Her breaths grew shallow. "I never saw his face. He was strong, wild… there was nothing I could do."

"It’s not your fault," I said firmly. "You were drugged. There was no way you could’ve fought him off."

Her grip on the tablet tightened.

"If what you’re saying is true, I need to confront Zach. I need to know why ASA betrayed me. And I need to find the bastard who did this to me."

A slow smirk curved my lips. That’s the fire I wanted to see.

A week passed.

Kara trained relentlessly, learning to control her shifts. She researched, studied, prepared. But nighttime was the hardest. I knew she barely slept, haunted by the nightmares of that night.

She wasn’t alone anymore.

Malia and the twin, understood her struggles. Gigi, despite being human, had become part of our family.

She sat in the living room, staring blankly at the TV. I found her there easily.

"I thought I’d find you here," I mused.

She smirked. "I heard you coming, Rodrigo. Perks of being a shifter, I guess."

I snorted. "You like it, don’t you?"

She scoffed. "I never wanted this in the first place."

"Yet here you are," I murmured, stealing her mug of tea for a sip.

She sighed.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?"

She hesitated, then nodded. "I am."

I studied her carefully. The past haunted her, but I feared what it might turn her into.

"You’re not alone in this," I reminded her.

Her lips parted slightly, and after a moment, she whispered, "Thank you, Rodrigo."

"Now get some rest," I said, standing. "Tomorrow is a big day."

Dylan’s PovI woke up panting, my chest heaving as sweat trickled down my body. My hands instinctively clutched the sheets, my heart racing. The dream had returned—the same haunting scene that played in my mind every night since my initiation as Alpha. Groaning, I pressed my fingers against my throbbing temples. My head pounded, a cruel reminder of last night’s party. Craig had dragged me to the club, and I had drunk more than I should have. A soft movement beside me made my brows furrow. A hand, warm and unwelcome, trailed lazily across my skin. My body stiffened. I remembered falling asleep alone, so who the fuck was in my bed? I turned my head, my eyes narrowing as I took in the familiar figure beside me. "Tiffany! How the fuck did you get here?"She stirred, her lashes fluttering open as a slow, satisfied smile curved her lips. "Hey, you're up,"she murmured sleepily. "And I asked you a question," I snapped. She stretched like a cat, completely unfazed. "You called m

  • BITTEN   The pure blood Alpha

“He is one of us, isn't he?” I asked Rodrigo the moment we entered his car, which was waiting to take us home. “Not one of us, but a pure blood werewolf.” I listened carefully. “Dylan Gasper is the Alpha of the New Age Pack here in America—the biggest pack in the country,” Rodrigo states. So he was pure blood, huh? That’s why his scent is different, why the aura he emits is so strong. An Alpha, too. “Is everything okay?” Rodrigo asked, noticing my change of mood. “Yeah, I'm good.” The entire ride home, I had only one thought in my head—and that was Dylan Gasper. I couldn't wait to get to the apartment, either. I glanced out the window as the car drove into the compound. Rodrigo opened my door for me. Furthermore, I stepped out of the car, and a villa painted in white stood in front of us. Men, all dressed in suits, were scattered around the area, guns in their hold. Rodrigo ushered me into the mansion, where a few people stood awaiting our arrival. “Welcome home, sir

My legs trembled as I held onto the rails of the building, carefully lowering my body until my feet touched the ground. My legs moved fast, running further from the facility as these men chased me. “Where the hell are you guys?” I asked through the earphones, sprinting as fast as I could. “We’re close,” he retorted, and just then, a black van arrived in front of me. I immediately jumped in as it took off. “That was stupid, Kara!” His voice resounded inside the moving vehicle the instant I got in. “Relax, Rodrigo, I got the files,” I muttered. “You would have been caught! Then what?” he shot back, making me roll my eyes. “Well, I wasn’t caught, okay? So relax.” Rodrigo growled at me. He was pissed at my actions, but I had no choice—I needed to get those files. I was unable to retrieve everything, but 80 percent of the files was better than nothing. At least with these, I would be able to find out why and who set me up. I closed my eyes as the car sped back to the ma

DYLAN The shrill ringing of my phone yanked me from my slumber. I groaned, blindly reaching for it, not bothering to check the caller ID before answering. "Hi, baby! Don’t tell me you're still sleeping. Come on, wake up—it’s our engagement day!" A familiar voice chimed through the receiver. I instantly growled. "Can I not have a fucking moment of sleep anymore?" "But, baby—" "Get lost, Tiffany." I cut her off and ended the call. The audacity of that woman to wake me up. Fuck. My head pounded from last night’s drinking—an entire night wasted drowning myself in liquor, trying to forget about my mate. The one the goddess chose for me. The one who might belong to that punk Rodrigo. Today was the day I would tell the world I had chosen Tiffany as my mate. My pack expected it. Everyone did. Yet my wolf raged inside me, rejecting the idea entirely. He wanted her. Our true mate. And, fuck, I wanted her too. But there was no way in hell I, Dylan Gasper—the Alpha of the larges

  • BITTEN   Welcome to my world

DYLANI downed my fourth glass of whiskey, barely acknowledging the curious stares from those passing by. My mind was a fucking mess. Closing my eyes, I let my thoughts drift—to *her*. Those perfect, tiny lips wrapped tightly around my cock, those slender legs locked around my waist as I pounded into her, dragging her into ecstasy. Fuck. I was going insane over a Neotide I hadn't even spoken to since my Wolf scented her as mine—who might not even be mine to claim. The glass was halfway to my lips when a familiar voice cut through my haze. "The night's still young to be this drunk, isn't it, Brother?" I didn't bother turning. "None of your fucking business." Thiago laughed, the sound irritatingly carefree as he took the empty chair next to mine. My brother and I were cut from different cloth. He was the golden son, the obedient one, our father's pride and joy. Me? I had always been the pain in the ass. The one who pushed boundaries. The one our mother favored until she

The party went on, and I did everything in my power to avoid his gaze. Rodrigo stayed by my side, keeping me company, something I was grateful for. The room was filled with shifters—both young and old. I observed from a distance as Dylan slid the ring onto her finger, and my chest tightened. I told myself it shouldn’t matter, that it didn’t matter, yet it did. When our eyes met across the room, everything else faded. The engagement ceremony finally ended, and Tiffany was glowing, basking in the congratulations from their guests. But Dylan… he looked miserable. Something twisted deep inside me at the sight. Was he being forced into this marriage? Or did he feel the same strange pull I did? No. I shoved the thought away. I didn’t know where these emotions were coming from, but I had to kill them before they consumed me. This—whatever this was—had to be some side effect of the bite. Maybe becoming a shifter had altered my instincts, making me drawn to another of my kind. Th

  • BITTEN   Born ready

Kara’s POVThe city was still as we drove through its streets, the kind of stillness that felt unnatural, stretched too thin—like the air before a storm when even the wind holds its breath. Dylan’s car moved smoothly along the empty roads, the soft hum of the engine a quiet reminder that I was not alone. I should have felt safe, tucked away in the leather seats beside him, but my mind was elsewhere. Tonight, everything would change. "You okay?" Dylan's voice cut through my thoughts, his tone casual, but his gaze sharp as he flicked a glance at me. The city lights illuminated the angles of his face in flashes—his strong jaw, the dark depth of his eyes, the slight furrow in his brow as he watched me. I blinked, my mind snapping back to the present. "Why?" "You seem distracted." He smirked, but there was something unreadable beneath it. "Maybe you're hiding something from me." The teasing edge in his voice sent a flicker of guilt down my spine. If only he knew how right he w

We were just pawns—paid to be on the field, risking our lives while they sat back, issuing commands like gods playing chess. It has to be something else." Her voice dripped with frustration, the sting of betrayal still fresh. Rodrigo exhaled, his sharp eyes assessing her. "There’s only one way to find out." The room fell silent, heads turning toward her. Kara lifted her chin. "We attack Dave Benson tomorrow night. Abduct him. Break him until he talks." The air grew heavy, thick with tension. For a long beat, no one spoke. Then— "You’re joking, right?" Gigi’s voice cracked the silence, but her wide eyes said she already knew the answer. Rodrigo smirked. "I don’t think she is." "T

To rule over thousands of werewolves when I barely understand this life?"The words felt like razor blades on my tongue, sharp, painful, but necessary. Dylan’s golden eyes burned into mine, intense and unyielding. His expression was unreadable, but I could feel the tension rolling off him. "So what are you saying, huh?" His voice was rough, guttural. "That we ignore this? Pretend what we have means nothing?"His jaw clenched. "Because that’s not happening. I’m not letting you go."The finality in his tone sent a shiver through me. I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat growing. "You don’t understand," I whispered. "My life is a mess, Dylan. DYLAN’S POVThe execution of my plan was supposed to begin today. Or so I thought. But as the hours passed, I realized how much I had underestimated the weight of it all. The tension coiled in my gut, suffocating, unbearable. I could barely function under its grip. The thought of her—of how she would react—consumed me. Would she accept the truth? Would she accept me? We had barely spoken about how she was turned, and a small, reckless part of me clung to the hope that it might mean she wouldn’t resist. That she might already feel the pull toward me, even if she refused to acknowledge it. I kept telling myself this was for the best. That claiming her, binding her to me, was the only way forward. But my hands still shook with anticipation. The car came to a stop, jerking me back to the present. I exhaled sharply, pushing open the door and stepping out. My gaze lifted to the towering glass building before me—a place that had once been my refuge. After my mother died, I had buried

The next morning, Kara arrived at work to find everything as it had been—quiet, routine, almost unsettlingly normal. But Dylan was nowhere to be found. Murphy, one of her coworkers, shook his head when she asked. “Boss hasn’t been in for two days. No calls, no messages. Nothing.” Kara only nodded, though something cold twisted in her gut. She buried herself in paperwork, pushing past the exhaustion clawing at her bones. Despite everything—the attacks, the shifting, the secrets—she still managed to keep herself together. Then the office phone rang, slicing through the silence. She barely had time to answer before a deep, familiar voice sent a shiver down her spine. “Kara, are you okay?” She froze. His voice was like a switch, flipping something inside her she didn’t want to acknowledge. It poured over her like warm honey, thick and consuming, dragging her mind back to *him.* “Kara?” The concern in his tone was unmistakable. “Are you there?” She gripped the receiver ti

His hand on my back was firm, pushing me up the stairs like a father sending a reckless child to bed. I bit back a retort, my heart still racing. The attack had been brutal, unexpected. The fear in Kelly’s eyes haunted me. Stepping into my old room, I found her sprawled across the bed, her chest rising and falling in steady rhythm. Her limbs were flung carelessly, as if sleep had taken her hostage before she could find a comfortable position. My fingers traced the soft curve of her cheek. She had seen me shift. The nerve he had—kissing me like he fucking meant it, only to have his *fiancée* on her knees for him in his office moments later. I squeezed my eyes shut, but it was useless. The image was burned into my skull, playing in my mind like a curse. His head tilted back, her hands gripping his thighs, *his* groan of pleasure—disgust clawed at my chest, bile rising in my throat again. My wolf whimpered, retreating into the depths of my mind, wounded. And I hated myself for feeling that pain. I should’ve known. I *did* know. The ride back home was silent, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Kara stared out the window, her mind in a frenzy of emotions. "You're home," Rodrigo’s voice pulled her back to the present. She blinked, realizing the car had stopped. Without a word, she pushed the door open and stepped out, but before she could walk away, Rodrigo called after her. "Sweet Kara, you are strong. You will overcome this storm ahead of you. I believe in you." Something in his voice made her chest tighten. She turned to him, her throat dry. "Thank you, Rodrigo. For everything," she whispered. She knew it now—her life was in danger. ASA wanted her eliminated. They would stop at nothing to silence her. At least she was safe here, for now. The apartment given to her by her new employers was deep within New Age Pack’s territory.
