Jason's mind wouldn't leave little Mason, the words his father said stuck to him like glue.
He rolled around in his wheelchair, not trying to stress himself. He dug his childhood pictures out, comparing his face and Mason's face.
His mind suddenly wandered to Cara, how was she doing? Where was she? He desperately needed to make amends, his disturbed soul begged for it.
The last time her number went through, he felt like a second chance had been dished out to him on a platter of gold. Not until the line was disconnected and it never went through again. Ever since, he kept trying.
He cursed and blamed himself for what happened, only if he hadn't behaved the way he behaved. Maybe, just maybe, he might be united with his little kid.
"What are you thinking about son," he had no idea when his father entered.
"You know…just thinking about my life," he shrugged, making his wheelchair face his father.
"Uhmmm son, we need to talk about who shot you. You've been changing the topic anytime I wanted to talk about it."
He looked at his old man. "I can't remember dad, I swear."
His burning hate for Nathan was enough to melt sand. He needed to be the one to kill Nathan, not his dad interfering into it, just him.
"There's something else we need to talk about," his dad focused his gaze on him.
"What's that?"
"You are getting married in a week."
He wheeled his chair around with a smirk on his, facing the window this time around .
"Joking old man?"
Not a single word came out from Jackson's mouth and he turned around facing him fully.
"Dad, you are joking, right?"
"No I'm not."
"See dad, I don't know what you are playing at but hope you know that I got married to Cara," his mind never went to realizing that it was a contract marriage and it has ended.
"Jason, don't fool me. You and I both clearly know that whatever you both clearly had for each other is over."
"Oh, I get it," his thoughts clicked. "Well not from my end, I'm still very much in love with her asides the contract marriage coming to an end. Can you take away my feelings for her?"
"Who cares son? It's been 3 fucking years anyone saw her last, 3 years. She might be dead for all we know or even hooked up with someone else," his voice slightly going up.
Jason felt disappointed about whatever his father was doing or saying. He wanted to question him if he truly saw Alexander as his friend or just a mere business partner.
For a moment, his father's words seemed to have some effect on him. With how he treated her, she might as well have settled down with someone else.
Cara was so fragile, she could be compared to an egg.
He sighed, refusing to let his father's words influence him. "Well for your information, I don't care and I'm not marrying anyone else except Cara. I'm going to find her and bring her back home."
"You will do my bidding young man," Jackson said between gritted teeth, suddenly towering over him.
"Else?" His father's attitude dissuaded him from telling him Cara was having his child, besides only he and one other person knew.
"I hate it when it comes to this," he rubbed his palm over his head. "You are a self made man and I know how much your company needs my help to flourish again ever since your unfortunate event. Marry who I want or else I withdraw every ounce of my help and also remove you as the beneficiary from my properties."
Jason's feet helped himself up gradually.
"Dad, please, don't do this," he begged. "I don't even know the lady you are pushing me into marriage with. What if she's here to harm me or you or both of us? Think about it well dad."
"I don't care, you will do what I asked you to do," Jackson stormed out, leaving Jason in a pool of his own thoughts.

Cara helped her little boy clean up. She cleaned his teeth and wiped his body with a new towel and water and soap.
He stared at his mother and caressed her cheeks with his small soft hands.
"I'm so sorry for making mama cry. Little Mason will not do it again," he wore a sad look and his small voice registered itself deep inside Cara's head.
"It's okay my baby, mummy is not angry at you. Mummy is just happy that baby is now fine," she wore her biggest smile, trying to convince him and it worked.
"I love you so much mummy," he threw his tiny hands over her neck. "When are we going home?"
"Today baby, I've packed our bags."
"Yaaaay," he screamed happily.
"Not so fast, little Mason will have to eat first and voooooom," she gestured to a sign of the plane and made a car noise, making Mason giggle cutely.
She watched her little bundle of joy and was so glad to see him finally up and happy and strong, she wouldn't have known what to do if things didn't go the way she wanted.
She saw her son eat and her heart melted.
Everyday, after she missed the donor, she'd always say a prayer or two for him anytime she prayed.
She at first thought she was going to run into Jason or Jackson or her dad, Alexander or anyone who knew her status. She heaved a deep sigh and continued arranging their loads. Her son was eager to go home, so was she. The city was no longer her thing.
Jason walked into the hospital, talking on phone with his best friend, a brother and also a business partner, Evans.
He had always wanted to come see the little boy ever since he donated his blood but he felt so reluctant to leave the house. The little stunt his father played gave him the boost he needed.
"Can you believe what dad is saying? I should marry a stranger, he's not even giving me a good reason," he lamented to Evans.
"That's really crazy," he replied.
"I tell you man. I have no idea on what to do," he peeped through the transparent window and saw Mason's room empty.
"Let me call you back," he dropped the call before Evans could answer.
He rushed into the doctor's office and helped himself to a seat even before the doctor could offer him one.
"Mr Jason, what an impromptu visit," the doctor alarmed at his state.
"Pardon my rude manners, doctor but what about the little boy? I saw it's empty."
"Oh yeah, he and his mother checked out today. Not quite long, I'm sure they will be on their way to the airport if they are not there already."
"Oh," he said in a low tone, all his pent up energy drained. "Thank you so much," he said and excused himself, feeling dejected.
The connection he felt towards Mason was one he had never felt before and that was his one and only chance of saying hi to the boy and his mother. Who knows if they will ever meet again?
Cynthia's back shot out, a masculine hand grabbed her hair firmly, making it look painful."Oh..yeah..yeah..Adrian..just like that. Don't ever fucking stop," she screamed in pleasure. Her ass was wiggling on his dick, making a clapping sound as her ass cheeks came in contact with his skin. "Oh..God..Cynthia..you..are..so..fucking..wet."He groaned loudly, his other hands held her waist firmly, assisting her movement on him. He rammed into her faster and her fingers dug into the bedsheet. He turned her over, her back coming in contact with the bed. She placed her hands on his chest, they were filled with lust. She smiled to myself, knowing she could make him feel this way. He reduced his speed and she gave a little whine on his dick, clamping the walls of her pussy tightly on his dick."Oh..Cynthia..stop..doing..that," he threw his head backwards. He always did that when he was close to cumming. She continued teasing him, knowing she was close to climax too.He pushed his length into
Jason stood with Evans on the left side of the registry wearing his meanest look. He wore his least favorite suit and a shoe he was about to discard. To him nothing was fascinating about the wedding and he just wished it would be over as soon as possible. His father had successfully wrapped him around a lady he had never known from Adam.Cynthia wore a flowing white gown that rubbed the floor everywhere she moved, her blonde hair was packed in a ponytail. Her makeover was simple and her smile was wide. The other 2 ladies who escorted her to the registry kept throwing winks and seductive looks at Evans."This is so weird, man. Are you sure you wanna do this?" Evans lowered himself to Jason's ears."Let's just get this over with. I'm getting pissed already," he whispered back. The marriage registrar stood up. "Can both parties please step forward?"They both moved forward, handing over the rings and signing the certificates. The marriage registrar handed a copy to both of them."You may
CHAPTER 8: MASON Cynthia stood at the door waiting for him, she saw him pick up his phone and his suitcase heading out. "Good morning," she flashed her brightest smile at him. He sighed, looking at his wristwatch. "There's nothing good about the morning. If you will excuse me, I don't want to be late for my flight." She blocked his pathway. "Just a few minutes, please." "1 minute, that's all you have. Summarize everything you want to say." "I don't know what I did to deserve this treatment from you but at least give me a chance to prove to you that I'm not what you think. I can be a loving wife and trust me, you would not regret it," she proceeded to touch him and he evaded her touch smartly. "Time's up, if you will excuse me woman," he banged the door in her face. "Damn," she cursed. "Why is he proving so hard to please? He is really going to make my work hard. I have to make sure I get pregnant for him but how, when he doesn't even let me touch him or at least eat my food."
Cara's phone beeped at the eatery she worked at. Her heartbeat raced faster and her palms became sweaty, it was the least person she expected. It was a message from Daniel, it read; "Can we talk, please?" She calmed herself and returned his text. "Tonight is fine by me, if you don't mind," she hit the send button and she wondered if she had done the right thing. "Thanks love," a smiling sheepishly emoji followed suit. "Did you hear the news I heard lately?" Janet—one of the ladies working in the kitchen faced her colleague, Alice. Cara was the exact opposite of them, she called them 'low class ladies'. To her, they behaved rough and razz, always running their mouths, never knowing when to stop. "Heard what exactly?" The other lady—Alice—responded with less enthusiasm. "I heard that my crush, Jason Pierce, is married. Can you believe it? Who is the woman he got married to? I've always dreamed of being with him." "Dead the dream Janet, Jason Pierce is far from your league. And e
Daniel set the table for both of them, various assorted dishes filled the table. A bottle of wine and 2 glass cups were placed beside the dishes. The room was illuminated by candles on their stands, one candle stood in the middle of the table. He waited patiently for Cara to come home, she had given him a key before their little fight. The door pushed open, revealing a tired Cara. Her bag hung loosely on her shoulder and she dragged her feet. Her eyes caught the decorated table, she stuck at her position and marveled at the wonders Daniel had done. "My lady," Daniel walked up to her, giving her a hug. "Please come with me." She followed suit like a dog following its master. "Sit," he drew out a chair for her and helped out with her bag and shoes. "Thank you," she said in a small voice, not loud enough but enough for Daniel to hear. Daniel looked around. "Where's my little guy, Mason?" "Oh, he's with Amber. She called not quite long saying she'll bring him." "Oh that's no prob
CHAPTER 12: JASON MEETS CARACara dressed Mason up for school, simultaneously arranging his lunch box."Mama, I want to tell you something," his thin small voice cut through her chores."What's that baby?"He dipped his hand into the bowl of fries Cara had prepared. "I don't like Mr Daniel."His confession halted her chores, she suspended her task and squatted in front of him."Why baby? Daniel is a good man and he is going to be your dad. You've always wanted a dad, right?"He nodded his head gently, the piece of fries he held still stuck in his mouth."So, don't worry about not liking him. He's going to take good care of you, just like he's taking care of mama.""I heard him last night mama, I heard him saying his plan is in action."Cara rubbed his head and kissed his cheeks."Don't worry, baby. I'm sure it's the plan of making mummy his wife and making you his baby.""But mummy–""No more but Mason, eat your food. Daniel is coming to drop you at school," she hardened her voice a b
Cynthia stared at her phone for the 100th time in 2 days, waiting for at least a message or a call from Jason. Unfortunately none seemed to cut through. She sat at the edge of the edge in loose clothings, her womanhood ached badly, she needed the touch of a man.Her mind wandered to Adrian, he knew how and where to touch her perfectly. Working his fingers on her body like a professional, she'd always melt under him.Ever since she got married to Jason, she had ignored his calls and messages, even blocking him in order not to be able to reach her. She decided to ring Jason's cell again, praying for a miracle for it to go through. Unfortunately, it went straight to voicemail, just like the others before it.An idea suddenly lit up in her mind, one person would know where he was, the right number to call to get through to him.She rushed into the bathroom, having a quick shower. She ruffled through the wardrobe, looking for something seductive to wear. Maybe she might be lucky to get lai
Cara lowered her son down carefully without taking her eyes off the man who stood in front of her. A rush of various emotions spun through her body, some sweet, most bitter. Her face broke into a small smile but it quickly evolved back into a frown."Well well well, if it isn't Jason Pierce," her voice reeked of sarcasm mixed with pain.Jason wondered where his sweet Cara had gone."Cara, I, I uhmmmm," his words came out in bits. He scratched his head, knowing fully well that he had nothing to say."Mummy, do you know him?" Mason filled the brewing silence between them. The word mummy took Jason by surprise, his eyes widened and unconsciously his hand went over his lips."Mummy?" Jason repeated, wearing the most surprised look. "Mason is your son?""What do you care about? Nothing, just you and you alone. As far as I'm concerned I'm done with you."She grabbed Mason by the hand and led him away. Jason, still frozen at the same spot, battled his emotions as different memories came cras
Trying to adjust her eyes to the bright white light shining proved a lot more difficult than she thought. She let out a soft groan and turned her head over to the other side, various tubes and wires were plugged in her head. Her head banged, but not as much as when you had too much to drink. Her leg hit something, she looked down and saw someone sleeping with their head on the bed.Her constant movement had him wake up. “Amber,” Evans rushed to her, checking her face to see if she was alright. Not giving him a response, he pressed the button above her bed. There was no way he was leaving her sight. The nurses entered almost immediately and examined her. “She's fine but we will need her to rest well in order to recuperate her lost energy. And we will be placing a closer look on her, you have nothing to worry about Mr Evans.”“Thank you so much nurse, thank you,” he kept repeating till she was out of sight.Still not saying a word, Amber looked at him like he had suddenly grown 2 heads.
Concealing her identity with a woolly scarf over her head, a nose mask on her face and sunglasses, she walked out the door past 5. She helped lock the door and kept Stacey's keys where it was supposed to be. She was done for good with her, nothing could bring her back and she hoped there would be nothing of such. She flagged down a cab and gave directions to the house Adrian left in her name. An old place to start a new life.“Isn't it weird to be dressed that way by this time of the day?” The cab driver said, trying to initiate a conversation. Her lips twisted to the itself, giving the impression of being irritated. She lowered the sunglasses a bit and looked in the overhead mirror. “You have a problem with how I dress?”Taken aback by her response, he tried to manage the situation by laughing. “Not at all madam, I'm just trying to start up a conversation with you. That's what I do with every one of my passengers in order to make everywhere lively and possibly get to know them better
The past 2-3 days in solitude have been worse for Cynthia. She barely talked, still in shock of how dumb she could be. How she didn't let herself read the handwriting on the wall because she believed that Jason would do anything his father wanted. But he had proven to her that he was smarter than all of them. And the only man who ever gave her a chance even though they were both in the wrong, was someone she just unalived. No matter the bad blood between Jason and his father before he died, Jason wasn't going to let this slide. He would make sure to find her till his last days on earth. The time Stacey gave her to vacate her house was drawing closer. In a bid to save her own head too, she had to find a place to live. A secluded place. She had never been fair to Stacey when she thought she had everything at her beck and call but now she understood if she didn't want to accommodate a murderer in the house. The door went open, jolting her out of her bickering. Stacey has given her a rul
Evans rushed towards the doctor going in the opposite direction. He had been in the clinic for the past 2 days with no sign of Amber waking up. Worried he decided to go make more enquiries and not wallow in assumptions.“Hey doc, good morning,” all his words rushed out in one breath. “It's about the lady in the VIP room. What's going on? I can barely see any changes in her.”“You have nothing to worry about Mr Evans. We sedated her and she not waking up is still within the time range of her sedation. If it's beyond 5 days and she's not up, then we'll know when to come in.”“5 days is a lot of time for beating myself up. Is there anything I can do prior to then?”Sensing his frustration and guilt, he decided to ease his burden.“We had to do that because of the amount of blood she lost. Luckily she was brought in in time and we had to do a blood transfusion on her. Just give her enough time to recover, everything will be fine Mr Evans.”Without a second word, he walked away, leaving Ev
The entire time Amber laid there with various tubes attached to her felt like an eternity to Evans. Cara had taken an excuse to pick Mason up from school while Jason left to clear Evans’ work up. His hand trembled badly as he held on to Amber's. Holding his tears back, he exhaled loudly.“I'm so sorry baby, I'm so sorry,” he kept muttering underneath his breath. “I had no idea I meant that much to you. You shouldn't have gone this far to prove that to me.”His phone rang, diverting his attention away from her. The caller ID had his face rumpled up. The bastard had the right to be calling him even when the love of his life was right beside him struggling for her life.On second thought, he decided to pick up, to hear what he had to say.“John,” he called out on the first pick. “It's been a while, how can I help you?”“Evan, my man,” the excitement in his voice couldn't go unnoticed and he wondered what he had to say.He was desperately trying to keep his anger under the radar and if he
Not having so much to do and with her son in school, Cara grabbed her phone and decided to say hi to her friend. It's been a while since she showed up at her father's house and saw Amber, not after that incident with Evans. She wondered what he was going to do about it. The company was moving fine and her father's employees were just as loyal to her as they were to him. Deciding not to take any car, she hailed a cab and wondered who to visit first. Evans or Amber?Settling for the latter choice, she gave the address to her father's house. Amber had never called since then and she too was busy trying to get Jason out of his worried state. He feared so much about Cynthia being on the run, worried that she would come after her and Mason. “We are here ma'am,” the cab driver infiltrated her thoughts.“Thank you so much,” she alighted and paid, walking straight to the gate. She pushed the gate open, hoping it was unlocked. Disappointed, she brought out her key and inserted it into the key
Jason ruffled his hair and sighed in frustration, the clicking of the keyboard pads intensified. This action drew the attention of Cara who was seated on the couch, watching a movie. She paused her movie and carefully stood up without making a sound. Her hands found his way to his shoulders, gently massaging him.He threw his head back and sighed in relief. Her hands continued all the way from his shoulders to his neck, gently applying pressure on it.“Do you want to talk about it?” She said, “you know I listen pretty well.”His eyes were closed, feeling relaxed under her touch. “It's not something you should worry yourself about.”“Is it about Cynthia? Still no sign of her?”“Hmmmmmm,” he nodded his head and sat straight. She took a seat beside him and held his hands together. “Why don't you leave it to the police to find her? You worry too much Jason.”“I do not worry for myself babe, I worry for you and Mason. She's a crazy woman who would do anything to get what she wants. She can
Cynthia rushed into the house while the cab driver waited outside wondering what was happening. Her hands trembled badly and blood dripped from her wounds. Her hair was messed up and her makeup didn't make it look easy too. Everything was worse. For a moment, she ignored the pain coursing through her veins. She sat on the carpeted floor and weeped her eyes out.Jason had proven that he was smarter than her. The signs were there, she just ignored them. Like the time he got home before her accusing her of having an affair with his father. All these while he knew but he chose to keep mute because of the things he had in mind.He didn't even care to know the type of underwear she had or how big her breasts were. For a man that was once a womanizer, she really messed up. But that was no time to start counting back or reflecting on the past, she needed to get out before Jason came back. She dropped her box from the top of the shelf and filled them with her clothes roughly, no time to start
Jackson's lawyer sat in the living room with them, he held a couple of documents with him, waiting for the rest of the occupants to show up.Jason sat with his wife while Mason sat on his father's lap.“Who else are we waiting for daddy?”“Uhmmm,” he didn't know the appropriate title to give Cynthia. “Just a person affiliated with the family, that's all.”“They need to hurry up, punctuality is something we are being taught at school.”“Don't–”Cara cut in quickly. “I'm pretty sure they must be caught up in traffic. She'll be here soon.”She gave her husband the nastiest look ever, Jason looked away, hiding his face to the other side.Few minutes later, Cynthia walked in majestically like she owned the entire place. She kept chewing her gum noisily. “I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting, something held me up.”Cara rubbed her son's hand. “See, I told you, something caused her to be late.”The lawyer adjusted his glasses and sat up straight. “Shall we begin?”“Yes please,” Jason answe
