Benedict looked out of the great office window, allowing the blurred city skyline to converge with his thoughts and memories of Sabrina. With each passing day, the absence was felt more, though a part of him did not want to acknowledge it. Sabrina loved him. He knew that. She had stayed with him all these years, through everything he had done in order to give her reason to leave. She was loyal, resilient, forgiving – everything he had ever taken for granted.

She had left, and every nook and corner of their home felt empty without her warmth, without her soft laughter and gentle presence.

"No, no," he muttered to himself, his hands in fists. "She'll come back. She loves me too much to be away for so long.".

He slumped back in his chair, fighting off the growing ache in his chest. Remembrances of the last time he saw her danced through his head - the hollowing of her eyes, drained of that quiet light he always admired, even though he hadn't admitted it. But he'd pushed it aside. He hadn

Teresa knocked on her son's mansion door. Her excitement made her heartbeat feel like it was going at an extremely fast pace. She had already prepared a small bag of gifts-some supplements and treats-she wanted to bring to her son for his daughter. She could hardly contain her anticipation as she knew that in just a couple of months, she would finally hold her first grandchild in her arms. The thought of Sabrina's gentle smile as she thanked her was enough to make Teresa's heart feel a little warm. She was so glad for her son and for his bride, though she realized that her son had his… limitations. As she reached out and up to open the door she called out, her own voice filled with delight, "Sabrina! Sabrina, are you home? But before she could knock, the maid, hastily opening the door, looked tight inside her face with a worrisome, wringing hands, and kind of confused appearance about what she had to say."Madam Teresa," she replied lowly, averting her eyes.Teresa immediately picked

But as Teresa left the room, a heavy silence settled over Benedict. There he was alone and in the midst of the mess he had created, and the love he had smashed to pieces. The walls convulsed inward on him, presenting vivid reminders of how the emptiness Sabrina's presence once filled. His heart twisted painfully, now pressed with the weight of his mistakes that, at last, allowed him to finally break.Benedict was looking at a bottle of supplements. The truth of Sabrina's pregnancy was like a punch to his chest-she was carrying his child. I did not remember the last time he showed her kindness, and more so, love. Now, the mother of his child, the woman who had stayed by him through everything, was gone.A desperate hope flared to life within him. He had to set things right. He had to prove to her that he could change, even if it was going to take years to regain her trust. He could see now, in jarring clarity, just how much he had hurt her, how much she'd given him, and how callously h

Every day that passed, Benedict's heart grew heavier. He had spent all his waking hours searching for Sabrina, visiting every possible place she might have gone. He revisited the cafés, the quiet parks she often frequented, and even the hospital where they first met. All those searches proved futile, and the desperation in him only grew more with each day that passed. He even reached out to his mother, Teresa, hoping to connect with her as a mother figure. But Sabrina's phone number was disconnected, and the hometown she spoke of long ago seemed to have vanished from Teresa's memory. All he clutched for light was nothing but sand slipping away. One evening, Teresa discovered him sitting alone in the dimly lit study, staring blankly at a photograph of Sabrina he had kept on his desk. She laid a soft hand on his shoulder and looked into his face, filled with sympathy and concern. "Perhaps she doesn't want to be found right now. People need their space sometimes, don’t they?" she whisper

As the two stood before the splendor of the estate, Sabrina smiled tentatively down at her mother, Leila. She was Wendy Taylor, the new person in their lives, who revealed herself as Sabrina's grandmother. She was providing them with much more than just a roof over their heads; she was offering them an opportunity to heal, rebuild, and start anew - without the hurt and disappointments the past represented. There stood Wendy, the powerful magnate known for her empire of real estate and lending companies across America, with her head held high but her gaze soft. In a warm voice, she addressed both of them. "This is your home now," Wendy said gently, squeezing Sabrina's hand as she reached out. "I should have been there for both of you sooner—for my son and for you, Leila and Sabrina. I can't change the past, but I can give you a future—one with security and peace that was never meant to be enjoyed by my son. You both deserve nothing less." Sabrina breathed deeply. Her mother's hand ste

It was just one quiet morning, with sunbeams streaming through the kitchen windows as they took their seats around the breakfast table. Sabrina suddenly felt a wave of nausea, her stomach turning over in shock as she covered her mouth, paling. It wasn't that either of them couldn't tell, even from across the table. Wendy's eyes narrowed to slits immediately, with a mix of concern and curiosity written all over her face."Do you think you might possibly be pregnant, Sabrina, darling?" Wendy asked softly, putting down her teacup. Sabrina's face flushed, and her eyes looked down at the plate, unable to confront her grandmother. She sat patiently, and after a few seconds of silence, Sabrina nodded softly into her plate. "It might work. Things were crazy with Benedict, but I got out before it became clear."With a deep sigh, Wendy reached over, her hand resting warmly on Sabrina's. "Well then," she said, "now it's my turn to hear everything. I want to know about life with the Thompsons an

The excitement in Wendy's voice was infectious as she gathered her daughter-in-law Leila and granddaughter Sabrina for the shopping spree. The next morning, after breakfast, Wendy could not wait any longer; after all, she had already mentally listed everything that they would need—not only for Sabrina but for the baby as well."Come on girls, Wendy cheered, applauding with outstretched arms and beaming with excitement. Today is all about new beginnings! We are going to pack this house with all the love and joy that comes with preparing a baby. We're going to get you some clothes, Sabrina, pick up everything the baby will need, Leila and get you some lovely things, things you deserve!"Sabrina smiled to herself in bewilderment at the depth of her grandmother's enthusiasm, feeling a warmth in the middle of her chest. It was far removed from when she had started to feel so isolated and alone. She was surrounded now by the loving arms of Wendy and Leila, so she was ready to face the new c

Benedict sat in his office, staring blankly at the mountain of papers he had to get through. His mind was churning with increasing dilemmas over his company: whispers and murmurs had filled the boardroom with tension-filled conversations—a presentation of financial strain and uncertainty that grew more raucous day by day. Benedict was a perfectionist; it was the pride he took in his ability to maintain control and be efficient. The final blow had come from an unsuspected quarter—a member of his board of directors had been embezzling funds. However, the control he had once exercised over circumstances slipped through his fingers, and he was powerless to stop it.It was a shock and a betrayal. Benedict had placed his trust in the individual, never for a moment suspecting that they had been siphoning off large chunks of money from the company accounts for months. The company faced massive debts, but now its reputation was at stake as well. Now, what used to be the measure of success and p

Benedict stormed into his office with his fists securely clenched at his side. The events of the previous hours had left him, and certainly placed him, in a roaring fit of rage. His mind whirled with the enormity of the infidelity by one of his board members and the irresponsibility of his accounting staff, which had failed to notice the discrepancy now threatening to bring him and all his business crashing down. Every fiber within him wanted to scream at that moment, but he needed to remain calm. He closed the door behind him, now feeling the room even tinier, more claustrophobic. His assistant, Elena, was standing by the door, her lily-pure complexion evident on her pale face because she knew he was about to show rage through his eyes."Mr. Thompson, I—I called an emergency meeting with the accounting department," she said softly, her voice laced with hesitation."Cancel it," Benedict snapped, his tone sharp and dangerous. "This isn't something we need to discuss. This is something

Ramos squinted. He digested the picture unfolding before him. His stomach writhed in knots, but not at what he saw here. Rather, it was because of what was inside of him: a searing feeling of betrayal that churned up through his core. He trusted Morales, treated him like a brother. Now, though, his former brother stood before him—a man with blood on his conscience, guilty because he'd torn his oath of protection apart to kill another person. It was then that Ramos' voice pierced the heavy stillness, cold and impassive. "Morales," he said, as if his words carried with them the sentence of an executioner. "You are placed under arrest for having aided and abetted Clara Thompson in her escape and for concealing her whereabouts.Morales didn't blink, didn't budge. His head stayed bent forward, his eyes fixed on Clara's lifeless body as if he could resurrect her with one look. His fingers still grasped the gun, quivering as if they couldn't let go of the cold metal even in the face of inevi

Clara's face curled into something almost dark—unrecognizable."Yes, I do. You don't know what it feels like to be in love that much, have it consume and destroy you. Benedict was the dream, was the future, and then that woman came around and took all of it back."Her lip curled up and curled with contempt."She does not deserve him. She shouldn't even draw the same oxygen as he did."Morales clenched his fists. "And if you do this? So what? They will hunt you. You will have to run for all eternity."Clara moved closer, her voice becoming a snake venom whisper. "That's why you are here, Brother. To protect me. To clear up my mistakes. That's what family does, isn't it?" Clara spoke, her voice dripping with cold resolution.Morales swallowed hard at the sight of her. The ballroom continued the birthday celebration of Saben. The grand ballroom glowed with a warm golden light, casting over the laughter-filled space. The blue and silver balloons danced near the ceiling as Saben's classmates ran around the superhero-themed decorations, giggling. In the middle of it all stood Saben proudly in his blue suit, the tiny red bowtie slightly askew as he grinned up at his father.Benedict knelt down to fix it. "There. Now you're the handsomest boy in the room," he declared, tousling his son's hair.Saben chuckled at that and peeked over to Sabrina who stood by, her flowing white dress moving across the floor in a graceful elegance as she watches them with absolutely pure adoration in her eyes."You say that all the time, Dad," Saben teased. "Are you sure you're not just saying this because I'm your son?"Benedict grinned. "Absolutely not. You could walk into any room and still be the most handsome kid there."Saben raised an eyebrow in jest. "Even in a room f

He darted across the room, his eyes shining bright with excitement. His energy was infectious. Delacruz nodded. "We have been monitoring Clara's bank accounts and any possible activity. She has not been using her main account, but we found something else. She accessed an offshore account a few days ago. Small withdrawals, nothing large, but it's enough for her to stay off the radar."Vargas sat forward, his interest piqued. "Could she be preparing something? Something big?""Could be," Delacruz said. "We do not know what exactly she's up to, but that's enough to give me concern. We even tracked her being close to some private jet hangar."Ramos raised his eyebrows. "A jet? She's flying the country?"Possibly, Delacruz answered cautiously, "But she's smart. She could plan here, wait for the right time to make the move."Vargas stood up, the weight of their failure hanging over him. "Then we need to move fast. We can't afford to wait. Every second we lose, she gets closer to whatever it is she's planning."Ramos slammed his hand on the table. "Alright, let's pull everything we've

Clara's eyes turned icy, a fire burning in her chest. "I'll make them regret ever crossing me."He gave her a slow, almost reluctant smile. "Okay then. I'll keep collecting the pieces. But remember, don't go rushing this. If you do, you're walking straight into their hands. Take it slow. Wait for the perfect moment.Clara nodded firmly. "I'm not leaving until I've done what I came for."The man stayed a moment, his eyes furrowed to study her as if trying to read her deeper. "You're not some woman to underestimate. But tread carefully. Those kinds of people don't just fall."Clara said lowly, saying it more to herself than the man. "I'm not afraid of them. They will not know what hit them.He gave her one last glance before he was out the door and leaving, his footsteps echoing down the hallway. Clara stood by the door, gazing after him. The quiet in that room had become deafening, but it wasn't the silence that bothered her. It was the wait. But waiting didn't scare her. Clara knew th

Her mind was already racing ahead, thinking about the next steps. The safe house was just a temporary stop, a place to regroup. She couldn't stay there forever. She needed to plan, to figure out her next move. But one thing was clear. She wouldn't be stopped. Not by anyone. The van veered hard onto a quiet dirt road and down from view, where city eyes and noise wouldn't see. Clara felt her heart ease some but didn't calm at all; it settled and hung inside, weighing against the pain. It cost a great deal to what she was to do. Clara was uncertain whether she had been ready to take that risk of its coming result. Yet, there was no backing down. She could not retreat at this point. She had gotten this far.As the van came to a stop, the man glanced over at her. “You’ve made a dangerous choice, Clara. Don’t forget that.”Clara met his gaze without flinching. “I’ve made my choice. And I’m not going to regret it.”The man sighed, opening the door to the small, dimly lit building in front of

In one swift motion, she lunged forward, swinging the keys in a tight arc toward his face. Morales instinctively ducked, but Clara wasn't aiming for his head-she was aiming for his side, for the pocket where he kept his gun.Keys reached out, Morales grunted in surprise, taking a stumbling backward step. Clara's heart pounded in her chest, her veins full of adrenaline, she did not hesitate to use the moment to her advantage. She pushed herself forward swiftly and dodged around Morales's receding back to make a beeline for the gate. But just as she stretched out to the gate, a strong grasp closed around her arm. Morales regained his balance far quicker than Clara had permitted herself to let herself think."Not so fast, Clara," he snarled, twisting her arm behind her back with a jerk that sent a shock of pain through her shoulder.Clara gritted her teeth, refused to let the pain show. She would not give him the satisfaction of seeing her break. She kicked backward, aiming for his shin,

The secret, she was certain, lay in the pattern of the guard's rounds—when he passed by her cell, he inevitably stopped on that farthest corner. He never gave her much attention, thinking her just another condemned prisoner with no choice. Clara was not like the others. She was waiting for this one, single chance. She reached up to the small grate above her cot, the one she had secretly loosened during the last few days. It was a tight fit, but Clara had managed to create a small opening large enough to slip through, using pieces of cloth and the thin, wiry metal she'd managed to pry loose. She drew herself up, using the makeshift rope she had prepared, her hands steady despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins. She was almost there.Footsteps approached again, closer this time. Her pulse was racing.
