Natalie’s POV

It was a quiet afternoon. I was sitting on the couch, scrolling through my phone, trying to distract myself from the mess that was my life. My chest felt tight, like it always did these days. I thought leaving Sebastian would make me feel free, but instead, it felt like I had lost a part of myself.

I kept telling myself it was the right thing to do. He wasn’t good for me anymore. The trust was gone, and without trust, what’s the point? But even knowing that didn’t make it easier.

As I scrolled, my phone buzzed with a notification. It was a message from an unknown number. My heart sank a little. I didn’t know why, but I had a bad feeling about it.

I opened it.

The message was short: “Thought you should see this. - Samantha.”

Samantha. Of course, it was her. I felt my stomach twist. I didn’t want to deal with her. I didn’t want to deal with any of it. But before I could decide whether to delete it or block the number, another message came through.

It was a video.

Sebastian’s POVI left the house with my head spinning. My mom and I had gotten into it, and I couldn’t stand it anymore. She just didn’t get it. All she saw was Samantha, and she wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to explain what happened. I slammed the front door behind me, my hands shaking with anger.I didn’t even know what I was angry at anymore. Was it my mom for acting like everything was fine? Was it Samantha for making me look like a fool? Or was it myself for letting it all get this bad?I didn’t know, but I didn’t have time to figure it out. I had work to do.The drive to the office was silent. I couldn’t even bring myself to turn on the radio. Everything just felt... wrong. My head was still stuck on that damn argument with my mom. I’d been so angry I could barely speak to her. Why did she have to keep pushing Samantha on me? She knew what happened between me and Natalie. She knew what I’d done. But it was like none of that mattered.I parked the car and took a deep breath

Sebastian's POVI sat on the couch, staring at nothing, the weight of the day pressing against my chest. My head was pounding, and the walls around me felt like they were closing in. The video wasn’t real - it couldn’t be real. I kept telling myself that, clinging to the hope that there was some mistake, that someone had manipulated it.But the world didn’t care about what was real. The world cared about what it saw. And right now, it had seen enough to crucify me.I forced myself to reach for my phone, the screen lighting up with more missed calls and messages than I could count. Friends, strangers, coworkers - all of them with something to say. I couldn’t bring myself to open them, not yet.I took a deep breath and opened Natalie’s contact. I hesitated. What could I even say to her? “I’m sorry” wasn’t enough. “It’s not what it looks like” sounded like a cliché. But I had to try.I dialed her number. It rang once, twice... and then went to voicemail.I hung up before I could leave a

When I woke up this morning, if someone had tapped me and told me that the world as I knew it would come crashing down today, I would have laughed and said they were bluffing. But it is amazing how the worst can happen, at moments when we least expect it.I was smiling when I walked up the pathway to Alfred’s house, the warm June sun casting a golden glow over everything. It was one of those perfect days that seemed tailor-made for surprises. My heart raced with excitement, and I clutched the small gift I had brought for him—an antique watch he had been eyeing for months. Today marked our two-year anniversary, and I wanted to make it special. The front door creaked as I pushed it open, stepping into the cool, air-conditioned sitting room, where I found Marlene, the housekeeper, dusting a vase in the living room.“Hi Marlene!” I greeted her with a warm smile. “Where’s Alfred? I have a little surprise for him.”“Oh, Miss Natalie, he’s inside the house, resting,” she replied, returning

The world seemed to tilt, my knees threatening to give way beneath me. This couldn’t be happening. This had to be some kind of nightmare. But as I looked into Iris’s triumphant face and Alfred’s regretful eyes, I knew it was real. “How could you?” I whispered, more to myself than to them.Iris crossed her arms, her expression unyielding. “Because it’s about time I got what I deserve. You’ve always been the perfect one, the chosen one. Well, not anymore.”With that, she turned on her heel and walked back toward the house, leaving me standing there in shock. Alfred lingered for a moment, looking like he wanted to say something, but then he followed Iris without another word.I watched them go, my mind spinning. Everything I had known, everything I had believed in, was a lie. My father’s legacy, my love for Alfred, my bond with Iris—it was all gone, ripped away in the cruellest way possible.I sank to my knees, the gravel biting into my skin, but I hardly felt it. It is all gone. The r

Headache. That was the first thing I noticed, as I opened my eyes and closed it again to adjust better to the brightness of the day.Raging headache. It felt like my head was on fire.Pure mad headache.I opened my eyes again and stared at the very unfamiliar ceiling, and with a start looked around the room - but I was in a strange place. A room that looked like a hotel room. This wasn’t my hotel room. The bed was too large, the sheets too luxurious. Panic began to set in, but the throbbing in my head was too intense for me to move much. I tried to think, to piece together the events of the previous night, but everything was a blur.Suddenly, the sound of a toilet flushing jolted me further into consciousness. The bathroom door creaked open, and a man walked into the room. He was wearing nothing but a towel tied around his waist. I tilted my head staring at him. He looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place him.He caught my eye and gave me a knowing smile. “Good morning. How a

The satisfaction I felt knew no bounds as I watched Alfred and Iris' eyes widen in shock.Boom!I resisted the urge to go to their stupid faces and snap my fingers at them. “What!” Iris yelled, gaze darting frantically between Sebastian and I, “what?!”“Surely there must be a mistake,” she said with a chuckle and turned to Mr Knight, “Natalie can't possibly be -”“Natalie is my wife. And I demand you speak with some respect.”Dayumm.“This is a joke. Mr Knight I have no idea how she managed to lure you, deceive you into marrying her but Natalie is nothing but a low life. She has nothing and is not capable of anything except using her body to woo men.”You've got to be kidding me.I Clenched my fists as anger flared in me but I decided to not respond.“Like I said Miss Wilson,” Sebastian stated calmly, “you will speak to my wife with disrespect.”Iris' jaw dropped and I smirked when her gaze shifted to me.“Shameless whore!” She spat, “so that's what you've been doing huh? I would have undoubtedly thought I had crossed the line the moment I made that statement, but Natalie never stops at leaving me in awe.“Alright,” she said. But before she responded, a disappointed scoff ran through her curled lips. Just then, I knew she was determined to get what she wanted.“I think we're good then, wife.” I pressed forward towards her as I shot a grin.“On one condition.”Hm, the lass with the conditions. I hoped it wasn't something serious. “I'm all ears.” “No strings attached. No feelings, just raw sex.”I paused. “Sure.”“Then we're good. Do have a nice day, husband.” She laid emphasis on husband as though she was insinuating something - something I couldn't seem to lay hands on as she turned on her heels and left, shutting the door behind her.I must say I'm pleased and intrigued by her - the way she makes unpredictable decisions…even though I had just known her for less than forty eight hours. Stupidly insane.I somehow needed to know more about my Natalie la

Anger still surged through me as I did , returning to that godforsaken house. Damn it. Knowing I had to see their face again made me feel strangely stupid.I finally reached and got a grip of myself. Me showing them they could annoy me gave them more power.I went in as my eyes roamed the sitting room. It was nowhere to be found. Just then, mother walked in, her voice shifting my attention to her.“I knew you would come back.” If only she knew why.“Can I have my phone back?” “Come over here, Sebastian. I want to talk. I want us to talk.” “What if I say there's no room for that?” “You don't have an option here, just listen to me.” I felt a chill down my spine as a trickle of tears ran down her face. I wasn't sorry she cried. I just didn't know what came over me that I listened so that she could do the talking.“I'm all ears.” I tried to hide my frustration and impatience. “Bear in mind that I don't have all night.” “What has come over you, son? “ The statement I hated hearing.

Sebastian’s POVI didn’t want to go to her. Not again. But something in me just...snapped. Maybe it was Natalie’s text, or the way Mom kept defending Samantha like she could do no wrong. Either way, I found myself driving to Samantha’s house. The sky was gray, and the roads were almost empty. I felt like I was driving straight into a storm. When I got to her house, I sat in the car for a while. My hands were gripping the steering wheel so hard it hurt. I didn’t even know what I was going to say to her. Part of me wanted to turn the car around and leave, but the other part, the angry part, wanted answers.I got out and walked up to her door. My heart was pounding, but I didn’t care. I knocked, and after a few seconds, the door opened. There she was, standing there like she wasn’t the reason my whole life was falling apart.“Sebastian,” she said, smiling like nothing was wrong. “I didn’t expect to see you.”“Yeah, well, here I am,” I said, pushing past her into the house. Natalie's POVWhen I left Sebastian’s house that morning, I didn’t look back. Not once. It felt like if I turned around, I’d convince myself to stay, and I couldn’t let that happen. My chest felt heavy, like something was sitting on it, but at the same time, there was this weird feeling of relief too. I don’t know. Maybe that’s what happens when you finally make a choice you’ve been avoiding for months.Sebastian wasn’t a bad person. I want to believe that. He was kind, funny, and had this way of making me feel like I was the only person in the room when we were together. But it wasn’t enough. Not when he was so tangled up in someone else’s life.I sat on the bus, my bag on my lap, and stared out the window. My reflection in the glass looked tired. I felt tired. It was like I hadn’t really slept in weeks, even though I knew I had. I kept thinking about everything that had happened, all the little moments that led up to this. When we first met, it was different. He was different. Or ma

Sebastian’s POVWhen I finally pulled into the driveway, it was early. Too early. The sun wasn’t fully out yet, but the sky was that weird mix of dark blue and orange. I sat in the car for a minute, not sure if I wanted to go inside. The air outside was cold, but I didn’t feel it. My head was spinning too much. The house was quiet when I walked in, but I noticed the light in the living room was on. I already knew what that meant—Mom was awake. She always waited up for me. Or maybe she just didn’t sleep much anymore. Either way, I wasn’t in the mood for a long conversation, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to avoid it.“Sebastian?” her voice came from the living room as soon as I closed the door.“Yeah, it’s me,” I said, kicking off my shoes by the door. My voice sounded rough. I didn’t even recognize it.Mom was sitting on the couch, wrapped in her old robe. She had a cup of tea in her hands. She always drank tea in the mornings, even if she hadn’t slept. She looked up at me, and I could

Sebastian’s POVI wasn’t supposed to be here. I knew that. But here I was, standing in front of Samantha’s apartment. The whole thing felt like a bad joke, one that I couldn’t get out of. I told myself this was the last time. I had said it before, but somehow, it always seemed to pull me back in. I knocked on the door, my heart pounding, but not because I was nervous. It was because I knew I’d regret this. The door opened, and there she stood - smiling like nothing had ever changed. Like it was just another normal night between us. “Hey, stranger,” she said, stepping aside to let me in.I didn’t reply. I didn’t know what to say. The air between us felt tense, but it was the kind of tension that was familiar. The kind that didn’t need words. I walked in, and she shut the door behind me.It didn’t take long for the usual silence to settle in. Samantha was always good at that - filling the space with her presence, even if it was just her being there. I hated how much she knew about me. H

His words were still playing in my mind, but I didn’t know what to do with them.He was still out there. I could hear his breathing, slow and heavy, like he was just waiting. Maybe he thought I’d open the door. Maybe he thought I’d forgive him.But I didn’t. I couldn’t. And perhaps I won’t.I got up from the floor slowly, my legs still shaky. The room felt colder than before, but maybe it was just me. I walked to the window and looked outside. The sky was still gray, like it couldn’t decide if it wanted to rain or not.My suitcase was still in the corner of the room. I thought about packing it again. Maybe this time I wouldn’t just sit there staring at it. Maybe this time I’d actually leave. But where would I go?I sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, my hands gripping the sheets. My head was spinning. I wanted to screa

No sound of her moving around upstairs.Natalie.I ran a hand through my hair, tugging at it out of frustration. I was so mad at myself. Everything felt wrong. I’d screwed up. Again. Why did I let Samantha talk to her like that? Why didn’t I say something? Why didn’t I do anything? I just stood there like an idiot, watching Natalie’s face fall apart.I leaned back on the couch and closed my eyes. I could still see her standing there, looking at me like I’d betrayed her. And I guess I had.I groaned, rubbing my face with both hands. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. None of this was supposed to happen.I looked at my phone sitting on th
