Tony POV
Such a nasty display of temper, I thought to myself, shaking my head in undisguised awe at the shameless show of rudeness.
Unlike Cassy, Tory is a human tornado that an encounter with her always leaves me in chaos.
Breathless, I watched as the door closed behind Tory, and I gripped a hand to my chest to keep it from beating wildly.
Cassy POV“Is everything alright? You look like you wanted to wring someone’s neck.”I shook my head. “It’s Tony.” I saw Caleb’s expression turning somber and was quick to explain.“He was looking for Tory.”Caleb sat up straight.“And?”I pursed my lips, and a thoughtful look came into my expression.“I don’t know. It appears like they had an argument. He was looking for Tory.”I saw Caleb nodding with a hint of a smile curving the corner of his lips.“Why are you smiling? There’s nothing funny.” I said snarkily, still miffed about my conversation with Tony while feeling protective of my best friend. The man could be so blind sometimes. This time, Caleb was truly smiling when he spread his arms. “I could sense romance brewing between them so that means one man is off your radar. That is good, right?”He expounded by wiggling his eyebrows at me which actually surprised me, exposing a playfulness to his side that I never knew existed. The Caleb I knew was never this playful. He used
Caleb POVWhen Cassy heard the endearment, she glared at me before pasting a smile on her lips. She turned away from me and walked fast toward Reynold Sparks, the man she shares the special endearment with. The sound of which is irritating to my ears.I rubbed my head to the top of my hair, frustrated beyond words. How would you feel if your wife is being called like that in public by just some man?Of course, I was pissed.Fingers digging into the front pockets of my pants, I took on a composed air and walked leisurely toward them. This time, the man was kissing Cassy's cheek, so I pulled her toward me, leaving Reynold to kiss the air
Caleb POV “Sir, the documents you requested are already here.” I pulled away from Cassy to answer my assistant, Gordon’s, phone call. “Okay. Wait for me at the office. I will be there in a while.” Cassy looked at me after I casually put the phone back in my pocket. “You have to go.” She told me. My heart constricted when I detected a hint of longing from her voice. It made me want to stay. I watched when Cassy stood from the couch and walked nonchalantly to her desk. She folded her legs and propped one knee on the seat of her swivel chair before carefully scanning the documents on her table, perusing them. Reluctantly, I pulled my gaze back to look at my watch. “Yeah. I have to go. I have a meeting in a while. It will be done by lunch.” “So?” She inquired, still not looking at me. I smiled. My wife does not want me to go. I thought to myself. Slowly, I walked until I reached her desk to grab her by the waist before turning her body around to face me. I hoist
Caleb POVI pinched the bridge of my nose after my mother walked out in a huff.“Gordon!”“Yes, Mr. Kingston?”“Please call Amanda Hayes and ask for a meeting. I need to talk to her.”He nodded and proceeded to accomplish the task I assigned him.“Sir, Ms. Hayes’ assistant informed me they would be flying to Paris this afternoon. However, Ms. Hayes is free this lunch. Is it okay?"I rubbed my forehead because I was beginning to feel the start of a massive headache.“Okay. Set the meeting for lunch. Thank you.”
Caleb POVMy heart thudded in my chest at the sight of Cassy’s brother.Adam Burke had this look on his face that did not bode well for me.Abruptly, I walked up to him to explain, but when I reached him, Adam reacted first. His fist came into contact with my jaw.I grunted in pain.“You are despicable.” He told me and walked out.I wiped my mouth and saw a streak of blood smearing my fingers. The pain was nothing compared to the damage Adam would do to my family if he decided to tell Cassy about what he saw today. That is something that I can’t allow.I had only begun to lay my claim on them. Cassy still needs to forgive me for hurting her and the children. I still have to work my a*s to compensate my family for my stu*idity years ago.I had barely begun my campaign, and if Adam Burke stepped in and ruined things for me, everything would be for naught.Immediately, I ran after him.
Caleb POVMy gut twisted at the sight of my wife with her tear-stained eyes. When she fixed her gaze on me, my lungs felt constricted. Her eyes dripped with venom.Instantly, I felt something was off.Subconsciously, I stepped back, flustered. It was like being transported back to Cassy's pregnancy days when the mere sight of me disgusted her. Then, I realized that much of our problem was rooted in misunderstanding, so I quickly dispensed with pride and ran to her side to inquire.“How dare you?” Cassy lashed out.Her words, fi
Caleb POVThe realization made me sad.The emotional damage I invariably caused Cassy due to my callous behavior back then is coming to take me in full force. It was Karmic to be feeling like this. Like a slap on the face, my actions are coming back to haunt me. They were like ghosts from the past. But I c
Cassy POVAfter cuddling for what seemed like forever, I remembered it was still office hours.“Aren’t you going back to your office?” I reminded Caleb when he sat unmoving by my side and had no intention of leaving. He did not appear like a man who wanted to go anywhere else.He shook his head
