From the other side of the table, Rhys caught my eye. His expression was different from the others—not cold or judgmental. He gave me a small, reassuring smile, and while it didn’t make the anxiety disappear, it was enough to steady me just a little.

“Come in,” Kai said, his deep voice cutting through the tense silence like a knife.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves, and stepped into the dining room. The sound of my footsteps seemed louder in the silence that followed my entrance. My heart pounded so loudly in my chest that I was sure everyone could hear it.

The room was enormous, with a table so long it seemed to stretch endlessly. The silverware sparkled under the chandelier, and the air smelled faintly of roasted meat and herbs. Everyone seated at the table paused, their conversations coming to an abrupt halt as all eyes turned toward me.

I scanned the room quickly, my stomach tightening. All the chairs were taken except one—the one right next to Zara. Of course, it

It fell onto my plate with a loud crash, shattering into tiny pieces. Water spilled everywhere, soaking my dress and the tablecloth. The sound of breaking glass was enough to silence the room, and all eyes turned to me.I froze, unable to move as all eyes shifted to me. Every single person at the table was staring, their expressions a mix of surprise, disgust, and amusement. I felt my face burn with embarrassment, the heat crawling up my neck and into my cheeks. My stomach churned, and my heart pounded so loudly that I thought it might burst out of my chest.“Good job, human,” Zara’s voice cut through the silence. “Humans are so pathetic. She can’t even get through dinner without embarrassing herself.”Her words were like a slap, and I could feel my eyes welling up with tears. I opened my mouth to respond, but my voice betrayed me, shaking as I mumbled a half-hearted apology. “I’m… I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean—” But my words didn’t seem to matter. The laughter started almost immediatel

The next morning felt different, like the air itself had shifted. The soft sunlight poured into the room through the slightly parted curtains, casting a golden glow across the walls. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make me feel like maybe today could be better. I sat up slowly, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. My body ached, and my heart still felt heavy, but somewhere deep inside, there was a flicker of determination that hadn’t been there the night before.I had spent most of the night crying until exhaustion took over, but as I lay in bed afterward, staring up at the ceiling, I made a decision. I couldn’t control how people here treated me, but I could control how I responded. If they wanted me to crumble, I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction. I was going to make the best of this situation, no matter how hard it got. I owed it to myself—and to my baby.I swung my legs off the bed, my bare feet brushing against the cold wooden floor. The chill sent a small shiver up my spine, b

I blinked, startled, and quickly wiped at the corners of my eyes. “I’ll be right out,” I replied, my voice trembling slightly but firm enough to carry through the door.Taking one last look at my reflection, I adjusted the towel wrapped around me. My hands lingered on my stomach for a moment longer before I dropped them to my sides. The room felt a little brighter now, the soft light streaming through the curtains casting a gentle glow over everything.I stepped out of the bathroom, wrapping my towel tightly around me, and walked into the bedroom. The soft scent of warm bread and fresh fruit hit me immediately, the warmth of it wrapping around me like a comforting embrace. My eyes were immediately drawn to the breakfast tray sitting neatly on the bedside table. A small teapot, a plate with buttered toast and fruit, and a tiny jar of jam had been arranged with such care, as though to make me feel at home. Beside it, a white sundress was spread out across the bed. It was beautiful in it

I caught my reflection in the mirror as I stood. The girl staring back at me looked... different. There was still a hint of weariness in her eyes, but the dress and sandals gave her an air of quiet strength she didn’t know she had. I took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as I smoothed down the fabric of the sundress.“I can do this,” I whispered to myself, though my voice wavered slightly. The thought of meeting Meredith still made my chest tighten, but I reminded myself that I’d faced worse. Even if she wasn’t kind, I would get through it. I had to. This wasn’t just about surviving anymore; it was about finding a way to live, even in a place where I didn’t belong.I sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled the breakfast tray closer. My stomach grumbled loudly, reminding me just how hungry I was. The food smelled amazing—warm bread, fresh fruit, and a small plate of eggs. I didn’t even hesitate as I picked up a piece of bread and took a big bite. The flavors hit my tongue, and I

Margaret nodded approvingly. “Exactly. And I’m sure you’ll do just fine, dear.”I couldn’t help but feel a small wave of relief at their kindness. It was the first real warmth I’d experienced since I’d arrived here, and it felt almost foreign. But I was grateful. More than I wanted to admit.“So, what’s the plan for today?” I asked, trying to shift the topic. I didn’t want to dwell on my discomfort for too long.Meredith smiled. “Well, my mother mentioned something about shopping. I think it would be good for you to get some clothes that fit a little better and make you feel more comfortable.”I glanced down at the sundress I was wearing. It was lovely, but it was the only dress I had, and I didn’t want to wear it every day. “That sounds like a good idea,” I said, trying to sound more confident.Margaret smiled warmly at me. “I’m glad you’re open to it. You’ll be in good hands with Meredith. She knows the best places around here.”I glanced at Meredith, feeling a mix of nervousness an

We finally stopped at a small boutique, the door chiming softly as we stepped inside. The store was cozy, with soft lighting and rows upon rows of neatly arranged clothes. The scent of fresh fabric and new clothes mixed in the air. I glanced around, feeling a bit out of place. A few women were shopping, and I immediately felt their eyes on me. I told myself not to let it bother me, but the nervous flutter in my chest wouldn’t go away.Meredith, or Mer, as she had asked me to call her, was already pulling dresses from the racks and holding them up to me. She smiled brightly. “This one will look perfect on you,” she said, holding up a soft pink dress. Her confidence was contagious, and I tried to match her energy.I turned my head slightly to glance around the store, trying to keep my mind occupied. I noticed a few women eyeing us, their whispers barely audible over the soft music playing in the background. My face heated as I caught snippets of their conversation. "She’s nothing more t

We made our way to the fitting rooms, and Mer stood outside, her eyes bright with excitement. "I'll be right here if you need anything," she said, giving me a thumbs up before I disappeared behind the curtain. The fitting room was small but cozy. The walls were a soft beige, and the lighting was flattering, casting a warm glow. I hung the dress on the hook, feeling a wave of uncertainty wash over me. What if it didn’t look right? What if it just made me stand out even more? Shaking off the thoughts, I pulled the dress over my head. The fabric was soft and smooth, the green shade a perfect contrast to my skin tone. When I turned in front of the mirror, I was surprised at how well it fit. The dress flowed gracefully over my body, hugging in just the right places. It wasn’t too tight, not too loose. It felt like it was made for me. I stood there for a moment, taking it all in. The dress made me feel… different. Not just beautiful, but confident. For the first time since I’d arrived at

“You okay?” Mer asked, her voice teasing. “You’ve been awfully quiet.”“I’m fine,” I said quickly, though my voice betrayed me.Mer gave me a knowing look. “Don’t let Zara get to you. She may think she has a claim on him, but trust me, Kai’s not going to mark her.”I didn’t know what to say to that, so I stayed quiet. Instead, I focused on the sparring match in front of me, letting myself get lost in the raw power and intensity of it.But then, as if he could feel my gaze, Kai’s eyes flicked in my direction. It was only for a brief moment, but it was enough to make my heart race. His piercing gaze locked onto mine, and I quickly looked away, my face burning.Mer smirked. “He saw you.”“No, he didn’t,” I said, though I could still feel the heat of his stare.“Oh, he definitely did,” she said, her grin widening. “And he looked at you like he sees something he likes.”I didn’t know how to respond, so I just shook my head, hoping she’d drop it. Lily’s POV He kissed me again, this time on the lips. It was slow and deep, the kind of kiss that made my heart race and my toes curl. The warm water ran down our bodies, but I barely noticed it anymore. Everything else seemed to disappear. There was no mansion, no titles, no expectations. Just me and him. Just love.I clung to him as my body trembled. His touch was gentle but firm, like he knew exactly how to make me feel good without saying a word. I felt the pleasure building, spreading through my body like waves crashing against the shore. My breathing got faster, and I moaned softly into his shoulder. He kept whispering sweet things in my ear, his voice low and comforting. I couldn't even catch all the words, but I felt the love behind them. And then, I climaxed. He didn’t let go. He held me tightly, one arm wrapped around my back, the other hand gently stroking my hair as my body shuddered through the pleasure. I buried my face in his chest, feeling warm and safe and completely

Lily’s POV After the baby shower party, Kai and I finally went back to our room. The halls were quiet now, filled only with the soft glow of evening lights and the echo of happy memories. I couldn’t stop smiling. Everything had felt like a dream—one I didn’t want to wake up from. My heart was still fluttering from all the love, the surprise, and how thoughtful everyone had been. But most of all, from Kai.He opened the door to our room and let me in first, his hand resting gently on the small of my back. I stepped inside, still holding onto the little gold clutch I hadn’t even used much. I turned to him, and our eyes met. The way he looked at me made my stomach flutter all over again. There was so much warmth in his gaze—so much love.“Let me help you out of that dress, my love,” he said, his voice low and soft.I nodded, feeling suddenly shy but excited. I stood still as he walked over to me. His hands moved slowly as he reached behind and unzipped the dress. The quiet sound of the

Lily’s POV Everything felt perfect. The music, the warm evening air, the soft lights above us, the sound of people laughing in the distance—it all came together like magic. Kai leaned down and whispered, “You look like a goddess tonight.” I blushed and looked up at him. “You’re just saying that.” “I mean it,” he said. “You’re glowing. And not just because of the pregnancy.” I let out a soft laugh and squeezed his hand. “You’re too sweet.” We kept dancing, slowly swaying in each other’s arms as soft music played in the background. The fairy lights above us twinkled like stars, casting a warm glow over everything. The garden smelled of fresh roses and sweet pastries, and there was a light breeze that made the moment feel even more magical. I leaned into Kai, resting my head gently against his chest, listening to the steady, calm rhythm of his heartbeat. It was so soothing—strong, reliable, and grounding. His hands rested carefully on my lower back, holding me as if I was the most

Lily’s POV Before I could even fully take everything in, Kai came up beside me again, this time holding a glass of orange juice. He smiled and held it out, but then paused. His nose scrunched a little as he brought the glass to his face and sniffed it.Then, without saying a word, he took a small sip of the drink himself.I blinked at him, confused for a second. “What are you doing?” I asked gently. He looked at me, serious but tender. “Just being careful.”And that’s when I realized what he meant. He was checking the drink—for poison. My chest tightened and I felt that familiar lump in my throat, but this time it wasn’t from sadness. It was from love.He remembered everything I’d been through. He hadn’t forgotten. And now he was making sure, in his own quiet way, that nothing like that ever happened again.“You didn’t have to do that,” I whispered.“I wanted to,” he replied simply. “I’ll always protect you. You and our babies.”I took the glass with trembling fingers, my heart flutt

His tie was a deep forest green, and he looked like he had just stepped out of a magazine. But what made my heart skip wasn’t just how handsome he looked—it was the way he looked at me.His eyes locked onto mine the moment I appeared, and he didn’t look away. His lips parted slightly, and he took a slow step forward.“Wow,” he breathed, as if he forgot how to talk for a second. “You look… absolutely breathtaking.”I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked down shyly, then met his gaze again. “Thank you,” I said softly, unable to stop the smile that spread across my face.He held out his arm for me, and I slipped my hand into the crook of his elbow. Lily's POV After my shower, I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me, the warm air clinging to my skin. Steam rolled out behind me as I walked into the bedroom. My hair was damp, curling a little at the ends, and water dripped slowly down my arms and legs. I shivered just a bit from the cool air hitting my wet skin.I paused when I saw the golden gown laid out perfectly on the bed like it was waiting for me. The fabric shimmered softly under the bedroom lights, and for a moment, I just stared at it. It was even more beautiful now than it had looked in the boutique—soft and flowing, with delicate beadwork on the straps and around the waist that made it sparkle like sunlight on water.Mer turned around from the vanity with a big smile on her face. “Perfect timing! Come sit. We’ve got work to do.”I nodded and tightened the towel around me, walking carefully toward the little stool in front of the mirror. I sat down and tried not to fidget as Mer got her makeup kit o

  • BILLIONAIRE ALPHA'S ACCIDENTAL SURROGATE    Chapter 177

Lily's POV After we finished at the pastry shop—which by the way had the fluffiest, most buttery croissants I’ve ever tasted—we all piled back into Selina’s car. The sweet smell of sugar and cinnamon still clung to my coat, and my stomach felt happy and full. I leaned back into the seat, letting out a little sigh of contentment. My feet were aching just a bit, but it was the good kind of ache, the kind you get after a fun day.The drive back to the mansion was quiet, but not awkward. Sophia had dozed off with her head against the window, a peaceful look on her face. Selina was texting someone quietly, and I just stared out the window, my fingers resting gently on my baby bump. I felt so full of warmth and love in that moment. I had spent the day with people who cared about me, and now I was going home to get ready for a date with the man who made my heart race. When the car finally pulled up in front of the mansion, I reached for my shopping bags and gave Selina a soft smile. “Thank

Lily’s POV I put my phone down and looked up at Selina, who had noticed my smile. “What’s got you smiling like that?” she asked with a teasing glint in her eyes.I couldn’t help but laugh as I showed her my phone. “Kai. He wants to take me to dinner tonight.”She raised an eyebrow and smirked. “The Alpha is completely head over heels for you, isn’t he?”I nodded, my smile widening. “I think so.”Selina laughed, then turned serious. “Look, I’ve been around long enough to know when a man is in love. Anyone with eyes can see it. And Kai... he’s crazy about you.”I looked away, a little embarrassed. “I know he cares about me, but... he hasn’t said the words yet.”Selina smiled softly, placing a hand on my arm. “Some men take their time with that. But don’t worry. He’ll say it when the time is right.”I felt a warmth spread through my chest, and for the first time in a while, I felt a sense of peace. Maybe Kai hadn’t said those three words yet, but everything he did, everything he said, m

Lily’s POV Waiting in the driveway was Selina’s car. A sleek black luxury vehicle that always looked like it had just been washed and polished. It gleamed in the sunlight, the silver rims sparkling like jewelry. The driver stood beside the open door, dressed in a clean black suit, his salt-and-pepper hair slicked back neatly. His face lit up with a warm smile as we approached.“Good day, Luna,” he said respectfully, nodding his head in greeting.I smiled back at him. “Good day,” I replied, trying to sound cheerful even though it took a lot of effort just to waddle to the car. With a bit of awkward maneuvering, I climbed into the back seat, shifting slowly so I wouldn’t squish my bump or pull a muscle. Sophia slid in right after me, settling beside me with a dramatic sigh like she was already ready for a nap. Selina got in last, graceful as always, and the doors shut with a soft, expensive-sounding click. The car hummed to life, and soon we were driving through the gates and onto the
