Halima saunters into the walk-in closet and locks herself in it. She picks her phone from a table and makes a call. Minutes later she receives a message saying it's in front of your suite. She smiles mischievously and quietly strolls out making sure not to wake Sa'eed up.
Walking out she sees a white box. She picks it up and enters the other room in the suite. After dressing in the contents of the box she wears a big black hijab and enters the other room where Sa'eed is asleep. She removes the hijab and enters the bathroom. She wets her two hands with cold water and sashays out again.
She grins mischievously then places her now cold hands on Sa'eed's face. Sa'eed flinchs and the first thing he notices is her outfit. She's wearing a milk colored lingerie. She's dressed in his favorite color. Seeing that Sa'eed is checking Halima out, she blushes. He drags her to his lap and as they look into each other's eyes, they both know exactly what they want.
They go ahead to do what they should have done on their wedding night; consummate their marriage. They didn't consummate their marriage on their wedding night because Sa'eed wanted to give Halima space and make sure she's ready. But now, they both are sure as hell that they are ready.
************
Halima wakes up beside her husband and blushes remembering how they had shamelessly hovered over each other a few hours ago. But it isn't shamelessness, after all they are married.
She enters the bathroom and performs ghusl and ablution then prays Zuhr since it's already after two. She wakes Sa'eed up after she's done praying and he does the same. After that Sa'eed orders for food and they silently eat. As both are busy relishing their food in comfortable silence Sa'eed's phone rings. He picks it up and excuses himself to answer the call.
After finishing her food alone Halima calls someone to come and take the dishes. Seeing that Sa'eed is not coming back anytime soon she decides to go and tour the hotel.
She picks up a grey viel to add to her grey and soldier green A-shaped gown which she had worn before praying. Going out, she reaches the reception and meets Violetta there. Violetta hasn't even acknowledged her presence as she's busy ogling at someone. Halima traces her eyes and sees that she's looking at Sa'eed. She immediately gets angry seeing that Violetta is still ogling at her husband.
"hey Violetta. I see you still have your eyes intact." Halima says and Violetta immediately stiffens before forcing a fake smile on her face.
"good afternoon ma'am. How may I be of help to you?" Violetta says getting all formal all of a sudden. Halima scoffs.
"you can help me by simply taking your eyes off my husband or i won't hesitate to use my cooking skills to whip out the best Violetta left eye soup, with Violetta right eye barbecue. "
Violetta immediately touches her eyes making Halima laugh out loud attracting Sa'eed's attention. Sa'eed immediately comes there and plants a lingering kiss on Halima's forehead. Halima smirks at Violetta who's trying so hard not to look at a smoking hot Sa'eed in a white shirt and black faded jeans. He doesn't have abs or pacs, but he sure as hell has some hot muscles.
"I'm organizing a birthday party for Aleesha." Halima immediately stiffens hearing Aleesha' s name. What's her problem with her husband? And why is Sa'eed hell bent on grabbing any opportunity to be with Aleesha?
"it's been long since I saw her so i decided to throw the party for her. It's not a surprise though. Please you need to be there. I've invited some of our classmates that happen to be here. The color of the day is black and silver. " Halima just nods not trusting her voice as she knows she can blurt out something stupid.
He plants another kiss but this time on her lips and he leaves. Seeing that her mood has been spoilt she decides to go back to the suite and stay there. Sa'eed never organized a party for her since eight years ago when he confessed his feelings for her.
And now all of a sudden he just met Aleesha and he's already organizing a party for her. What is he trying to imply? Halima was hoping that she would tour around Santorini with her husband but now none of that is even happening.
She decides to call Fatima, her best friend, sister inlaw and cousin.
"Hello", Fatima's voice booms from the other side of the line.
"Ameen Wa alaikis salam", Halima sarcastically replies.
"dan Allah {for Allah's sake} Halima not today. Ya kike? {how are you?}."
"I'm fine, and I'm not fine"
"why? What happened? And where's Ya Sa'eed?"
"calm your horses girl. He's busy organizing some party for that Aleesha girl." Halima scoffs as she says Aleesha. That Aleesha is sure a pain in the arse.
"wait, you guys are in Santorini right? Then how is Aleesha there? I thought she's in the states?" Halima sighs as Fatima bombards her with questions.
"Teemah wallahi i also don't know. But she's here on some business whatever and your brother is busy ignoring me for her. I want to come back to Nigeria nikam." Halima replies massaging her temples. All this Aleesha talk is giving her a headache.
"I'm pretty sure he missed her that's all. Just go with the flow okay? But if it's the Aleesha i know she might be a little problem because of... Never mind"
"because of what?"
"Lalalala. I'm not telling you anything. Ask Ya Sa'eed and he'll tell you. Bakina a lekum. {my mouth is sealed}."
"ayyaa bestie just tell me mana." Halima whines and Fatima chuckles.
"wallahi {i swear by Allah} I'm not telling you anything. Ai he's your husband you can go and ask him."
"wallahi Teemah you're a party pooper" Halima whines again making Fatima laugh.
"meye kuma party pooper ni Fatima? {what's party pooper?}."
"get outta my phone jhor." and Halima cuts the call. What did Fatima want to tell her? She shrugs it off and a sharp pain travels down her lower abdomen making her wince. She feels her underwear getting wet.
"oh my God Ya Allah please don't make it what I'm thinking." she prays silently as she walks to the bathroom.
She almost shouts in frustration seeing blood on her underwear. It is meant to come on the twenty fourth and today is just twelfth. That's twelve freaking days early. She quickly calls Sa'eed but he doesn't pick. She calls again and he still doesn't pick. Seeing that he's too busy organizing the so-called party she uses the intercom to call room service. It happens to be a woman which she is thankful for.
She begs the plump older woman who looks like she's in her late fourties to help her with a tampon or sanitary pad and the woman goes out. A few minutes later she comes back with a thick black nylon and she gives her. The older woman even offers to give a back massage which Halima is greatful for.
Back massages always ease menstrual pain. After the back massage, Halima wears a red gown and sleep in the other room in the suite. Turning and twisting in pain because of the pain she's feeling in her lower abdomen.
Menstrual pain is always the worst for her because it brings up a fever, diarrhea and some other sicknesses. She ends up weak and skinny. After some more twisting and turning she stands up to go get Sa'eed so that he can get some guava leaves and boil for her because that's what her mother always gives her to take morning, afternoon and night.
She would've asked for fenugreek but it makes her nauseous. As she starts walking she feels dizzy and decides against going downstairs. She uses the intercom to request that it should be announced that Sa'eed should get to his room immediately.
Violetta opens her mouth to say something to Sa'eed as he walks away but refrains and smirks at the back of the head of a frowning Halima. She takes the phone which belongs to Sa'eed and slides it into the drawer where documents are kept in the reception. As Halima walks away Violetta places the phone on "total silence" mode which blocks all sounds and vibrations including from alarms, music, games and videos. Phone calls can still be made though. She starts to go through his pictures, videos and other media just as the manager calls for her. She enters his white and baby pink office."ah, Miss Violetta, please have a seat." a smiling dark handsome young man with brown hair, whose name is Aaron says signaling with his hands to the chairs in front of his desk. It's the manager's son.She smiles but instead of sitting where she has been asked to sit, she goes over to his side of
After Violetta got fired Halima felt like a huge boulder has been lifted off her chest, good riddance to bad rubbish, she had said as Violetta left after winking at a disgusted Sa'eed. Now sitting down in front of a mirror inside the walk-in closet of the suite Halima is clad in her party dress.Even though she's going to the birthday party of someone she low-key despises she can't help but feel happy and giddy. She calls Fatima but her airtime has been exhausted. I'll ask Ya Sa'eed to call her later. After smearing her lips with a glittery transparent lip gloss Halima uses a black S-pin to secure a black veil with silver beads scattered around it perfectly on her head. She stands up and looks at herself in the mirror. Her black and silver prom gown is looking so casual yet elegant and classy. The upper bust is silver while from the lower bust down to her legs is black and flowing. Her silver stiletto is shin
Santorini, Greece."thanks. You can take your leave now." Aleesha says dismissing the young man with a wave of her hand as a mischievous smirk makes its way to her face."okay madam."Aleesha brings out a picture of Halima and strokes it with her long index finger saying "oh Halima dear. Did you think I'll ever let go of my Romeo despite what we had before. Then if you did you must be a complete nitwit, a fool, a dimwitted idiot. Sa'eed Abba Sulayman is mine and no one else's. I'll have him by hook or by crook. Moreover if he has forgotten about the past, then i haven't. Of course he will forget the past. I'm sure he can hardly remember that day. Oh Romeo. Poor poor Romeo."Aleesha drops the picture back in her bag and brings out a small Tecno button phone."Hello?... Yeah they just left... What the eff are you still doing? Huh? Are you waiting for me to come an
Sa'eed rushes in to see his wife and her mother, Hajjo sitting in the parlor looking perplexed and confused."Sallamu Alaikum {peace be unto you}." Sa'eed says as he makes himself comfortable on one of the chocolate-colored sofas. The house consists of two parlors. The main parlor which is by the entrance for receiving guests. It is painted in cockroach brown and crystal blue. The cockroach brown couches are arranged in a U-shape. In the middle is a one-seater facing the door to the front porch. By the left and right is a three-seater on each side. Then in the middle of the U-shape is a cockroach brown coffee table with the top made of glass. Under it is a crystal blue pompom carpet with little strands of wools made of cockroach brown wool. The tiles are also plane crystal blue bare of any design. Three large cockroach brown curtains with large crystal blue daises imprinted on them cover an oak door lea
"But mummy why did you go to the hospital?" Sa'eed asks looking perplexed."well. Halima went to see a gynecologist." Hajjo says.Sa'eed's heart skips a beat. Is she pregnant? He can feel his heart palpitating with joy. "wh.. What happened? Is she okay? Why a gynecologist?" Sa'eed says hope masking all his features.Hajjo gestures for Halima to continue. "yanzu nikam na tafi {I'm gone}. That should be something your wife tells you and not me." Hajjo says and adjusts her yellow veil and picks up her Gucci bag then leaves the couple alone."Habeebty why did you guys see a gynecologist of all doctors?" Sa'eed says silently hoping that she says what his heart is hoping for."don't make fun of me dan Allah {for Allah's sake}. While we were at the hospital today when i went to give my blood, i felt dizzy and the nurse suggested i see a gynecologist for my
"Habeeby you're taking too much time in this toilet fah. Are you a girl?" Halima whines as she ties the rope of her Khimaar to the back."ai I told you to come inside with me. That way, i won't take time for no reason." Sa'eed says and Halima can imagine him wiggling his eye brows. She has been asked by the gynecologist not to be intimate till the result comes out. Sa'eed has been whining about that since the day she told him which was a day after she went to the hospital. And Halima being Halima has been teasing him by wearing showing or tight clothes and sometimes even lingeries."pervert. Be fast dan Allah {for Allah's sake}. I don't want to miss the appointment. You know she's the best gynecologist at Fereprod so if i miss it you have to wait a whole two weeks before you can...." Halima says and Sa'eed can also imagine her wiggling her brows with a full blown teasing smile playing on her lips.
Sa'eed calls a friend of his who happens to be the crime officer of Wuse II among others. "Hello Bello?" "Sa'eed ah ahn. Long time. Ya amaryar mu? {how's our bride?}." "shatap! Amaryata bah amaryar ku bah. {my bride not your bride} anyways we have a situation behind Wuse market. You're still the crime officer right?" "yes. What's the situation?" "Brutal face mutality, murder a takaice {in short}." "Subhanallah! Send me the location. Who is it?" "a driver of mine. But i don't even want to file a complaint. I just need some muslms to come take him and perform the funeral rites. I'm going to the hospital with my wife yanzu haka {right now}." "ah ahn. Tohhh! Should we expect good news." "we'll talk later we're getting late." and Sa'eed cut the call. He doesn't want to tal
Sa'eed sits in the hospital conflicted. He doesn't know what to do. He could follow Halima and probably get shouted at, or he could get Innayo's driver to take Halima home and whatever would happen will be delayed to till they get home. He decides on the earlier but stops dead in his tracks as a thought occurs to him, what if there's a cure. He rushes back to the consultation room and luckily the doctor is free. "sorry doctor but if you don't mind I have some questions." "sure, go ahead." Dr Maryam says dropping her Swan bottled water which is now empty. She was chugging it down when Sa'eed came in. "is there any chance that there's a cure for this... I don't know what to call it?" "yes. There are two; diet, transplant." "okay. So explain each. Like the way they work, the sidr effects and all that." Sa'eed says
Verily, whatever has a beginning, must have an end. ~Meemxy Two days later... "Sa'eed, if Halima doesn't wake up before Wednesday, then you're marriage is automatically severed. Even if she does, unless she says she's willing to stay with you, it's a lost cause." This has been turning itself in Sa'eed's head since on Saturday - the day Halima put to birth, and today is Tuesday. Meaning that, in less than twenty four hours, Sa'eed's marriage with Halima will be severed automatically and Halima will become a divorcee. Neither the baby nor Halima are in any good condition. Halima slipped into comma the moment she gave birth while the baby, being born premature at eight months, is at the Special Baby Care unit (SCBU) and on life support. She can give up the ghost anytime though she has started opening her eyes from time to time.
It's been sixty eight days since the divorce. Halima has been counting and so far, she can't wait to finish the ninety days of torture. She was very foolish to think they could work out again, to think she was thinking of going back to withdraw the divorce issue, what a whimsy thought! One week after they got back, Halima had thought about it, this divorce shouldn't have happened. But it has happened and she is the only one that can change it. She went to Sa'eed - since they aren't living in the same rooms - only to hear the conversation that changed her mind.Halima walks through the corridor, determined steps are what she takes. She just needs to talk to him and then they'll go to the judge and forget the divorce issue."Yes, have you seen those girls? They look even younger in person. Fahida and Kamila. Very pretty girls. Your wife, oops, ex-wife would look like an old woma
"Daddy, Abba, please talk to Mummy. Wallahi I don't want to go back to that house, please." Halima is full verge on crying. The two men turn their faces to the side, showing Halima their napes. Their wives have told them to stay out of it and from the way they said it, they know there's more to it so they have to stay out. Halima wails and turns on her knees to Hajjo and Innayo."Ammi please help me. I will die if i go back there. You've always told me you love me, please show me that love now." Halima holds unto Innayo's skirt and sorrowfully, she turns away from Halima. She knows about Halima's pregnancy and she'd be damned if she's the reason why her grandchild doesn't get to experience the love of both of his or her parents. Even if Halima and Sa'eed won't reconcile, they should attempt to, so that whatever happens with the child in the future, would be both their faults alone and no one else's. Having no other choice, Halima turns to her mother.
The glow that's radiating off her skin is enough to tell anyone that she's the bride. Her smile alone shows how happy she is with the marriage. Despite the fact that she doesn't have a family, she's not worried at all, not one bit. She's contented and happy with the family her husband to be has provided her with.Looking in the mirror Lash's smile widens, even wider than a grin. She feels and looks extremely beautiful, happy and contented. Today is the daurin aure. Today she'll finally experience the happiness of a bride, a married woman. Her wedding events have been the talk of Abuja for the past two weeks. Instagram, snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube you name it. The wedding is trending on very social media platform; AiNayn is all over the web. Hussaina took it upon herself to see to it that the whole world knows about her brother's wedding. She created an Instagram and Twitter account and tag with the hashtag #AiNayn making
Halima hugs her mother and her father before they enter the car. She doesn't even look outside because she doesn't miss Nigeria, not one bit. She only misses her family and friends. Who's she kidding? She hardly has any friends but she's going to change all that now. She has already made a friend back at France, she's a Nigerian and she lives in Abuja too. They even exchanged contacts. They drive directly to the Abba Sulayman house as per Halima's nagging that she wants to see her Ammi, Teemah, Amalie and Afnan. Innayo was discharged two weeks ago and she's actually getting very better now.The Abba Sulaymans want to even start planning Amal's wedding. It's just Halima they were waiting for and according to what Fatima said in the morning, Hamza's parents are coming for the sa rana next week. They arrive at the house and Halima doesn't even wait for her parents. She just enters the house like she does a
It has been two good weeks since she last set her eyes on Zulqa, or even heard his voice. She isn't even bothering herself. Just staying indoors, eating, sleeping, taking care of her self and treating herself well. She can't let anyone dull her shine, she's HumyLash, no one, absolutely no one can dull her shine.Skin care routines, exercises, comedy videos, religious videos and healthy foods are what she is worried about right now. If Zulqa and her are meant to be, then they will be no matter what, and if they aren't, tyen it's probably for the best, Lash has been telling herself.Lash turns on her bed, hearing the sound of her phone ringing. She feels all over the bed, trying to figure out where the hell her phone is. She finds it and uses the fingerprint sensor to accept the call that's coming through. They exchange Salams with the person on the other end."Aisha, can I come to your house?" Lash sits
"Hip hip, hurray!!" all the women and ladies, about one hundred of them, throw their caps up in the sky and catch them.Halima is all smiles and grin. She has graduated with second position in the whole class and she can't be more proud of herself. The competition is coming up in the next two hours and Halima has the perfect award winning recipe, it's a dish she saw online but with a little tweaks here and there. She walks to the car and drops her certificate in the backseat. She's startled by a voice and she jumps a bit before closing her eyes to calm her heart."Hi, Halima. Congratulations." the voice says. Not wanting to answer but nit having any choice, Halima turns to the voice. There stands a man, very tall such that she has to crane her neck before she can see his head. He's fair, huge and very muscular. He's just the perfect definition of intimidating bouncer.
The problem between Lash and Umma has been solved. Even though Umma doesn't miss an opportunity to insult Lash, they're still good.Today, Lash is posting her first blog in almost four months. She was convinced by Qifdiyya and Hussaina to do that. And according to them, she can't take the video without her inlaws. So because of that, she's going over to their house for a sleepover. She has packed all what she thinks necessary for the sleep over and is now driving to the house. On reaching there, she takes the small Givenchy suitcase holding all the necessities she brought. She passes the foyer and hears laughter coming from the parlor. As she enters, she sees about ten ladies, including the four ladies of the house, sitting in the parlor all in wine gowns and peach headgears."Oh. My. God. Is that HumyLash?" one of the ladies, a fair slim one says standing up, with one of her
Innayo twitches her fingers. They feel weak and extremely heavy to her. Her nose and mouth are covered with what feels like a cup. She attempts to raise her hand and remove the cup like thingy, but she can't. She doesn't know why but she just can't.Finally gathering enough energy, she raises her hand as high as she can, only for it to go limp and fall on the bedside cabinet, slapping a cup down and waking up the other occupants of the room.Amal who's the swiftest of them all rushes to Innayo' s side and holds the hand she's still attempting to raise. Afnan quickly presses the red button by the bed and within seconds, the nurse on night duty comes rushing with drowsy eyes."What's the problem?" She says annoyed. No one would blame her though. She was woken up from her beauty sleep in the dead of the night by the worst thing possible, a loud blare."She's moving. Get the docto
