Antonio POV

I dailed Elena's number for the umpteenth time and it was still not connecting. It's been two weeks now and she still hasn't come home neither has she reached out to me. I have checked everywhere she could possibly be and called her friends but still no sign of her. I looked up when I heard a knock on my door.

" Come in." I groaned, it's probably my personal assistant coming to tell me that she was going.

" Hello sir." It was the private detective I had employed to find Elena. " Any news yet?"

" No not yet but we are on it." I slumped back on my chair exhausted. It was like she had completely vanished.

" Work faster and harder."

" Mr Martinez also has people looking for her so we would find her in no time."

" Mr Martinez? Of Martinez corporation?"

" Yes sir." I nodded my head connecting the dots they are finally striking back and are trying to use Elena right.

" Anything the problem sir?"

" No not at all, you may go."

I furiously marched into Martinez corporation bui

Isabel POVLife is one of the most fragile thing, one minute your loved ones are right there with you and the next minute they are gone. I stared at Gideon's picture that was placed close to his gravestone. He was dead. He always knows how to predict correctly. He had predicted when I wanted to get the contract with the Seoul brothers. He said I was going to get it and that was exactly what had happened. This time he had predicted his death and here he was six feet underground. I was about to enter my car to go when a nurse at the retirement home shouted as she ran over to me. When she got to me she held her chest trying to catch her breath. " Are you ok?" I asked concern laced in my voice." Gideon wanted you to have this." She said handing me a black old looking box " What is inside?" I asked curious. " It has a code lock. He said it was only you that knew the password so I should make sure you get it if he ever died." I looked at the black box confused." Thank you." I said with

Miguel POV " What is the meaning of this?" Isabel shouted as she barged into my office making me to stand up. " I tried stopping her sir." Jerry, my personal assistant said adjusting his eyeglasses." It's fine Jerry, you can go." I stared at Isabel who was fuming with anger. Immediately the door closed, she walked up to me before throwing a bunch of papers in my face. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion but i refused to react, I remained still. I picked up one of the papers and it was an old photo of I and Antonio. We were smiling widely at the camera. I picked up another paper that she had thrown and it was a non disclosure agreement. It had my full name and that of Antonio's. I looked at the picture and the document carefully as I thought of how she got hold of these documents." Wondering how I found them? It's none of your business. You fucking lair, you are no different from the rest of them." She spat out bitterly." Isabel, Calm down." " Don't tell me to calm down. You have b

Miguel's POVI paced from my wardrobe to the bed as I threw a bunch of shirt and trousers into my suitcase. " Miguel don't you think you're taking this too far." My mum said in a low tone beside me. I ignored her and just kept on packing clothes into my suitcase. " Miguel! I'm talking to you!" " Mum, I've done nothing but listen to you but you don't listen to me. I've told you to leave this man." " Miguel he changed and I know this was just a slip up. He apologised." I still wonder what exactly she sees in him that makes her remain in his space. At first I thought it was because of I was a kid and divorce might have a negative and traumatic impact on me. Right now I'm an adult, old enough to know how this works. " Mum, I love you so much but I can't stay here and watch him slip up." I said adding more stress to the 'slip up.' "I'm going to be at my pent house in town and would come here on the weekends. You wont even notice I'm not around." I said with my mind fully made up. " M

Isabel POV Trusting someone has proven to be the risky thing to do. You trust someone they either die or they betray you in way you thought could never be possible. I stood in front of Lawson industries now called Reyes industries. The exterior was exactly the same way I left it. Coming back here reminded me of when this used to be all mine and soon it would be all mine again. My red heels clicked on the shiny tiles as I made my way to the elevator. I pressed the button that had a seven engraved on it. The rage in my heart heightened when I saw the name that was now engraved on the CEO office door. Reyes Antonio. I cringed as I read the name in my mind. I twisted the knob of the barging in. My eyes met with Antonio in a very compromising position. He had a girl bent over on the table while he was behind her with his pants down. " What the fuck Esme!" Antonio shouted as he pulled his pants up while the girls pulled her gown down and walked out. I rolled my eyes at his childishness.

Antonio's POV " You fucking broke the agreement!" I said angrily at him. He stood in front of me clearly unconcerned as he took out a cigarette and lit it. " Antonio is that why you asked to see me here?" Miguel asked calmly as he blew the smoke out of his mouth. " She found out! She wasn't meant to find out. Don't you get it Miguel." I followed the movement of his hand as he took the cigarette out of in between his lips." You know if there's anyone that should be worried about this matter it should be me. I lost my chance at being with the woman I love and cherish, the merger is off, you spoilt my name in the company inner circle and all this happened because of some stupid deal you manipulated me into signing." " You know very well why you couldn't be with her, you think I wanted to marry her?" He said nothing but blew more smoke out of his mouth. " I need you to talk to her, my company is under some serious investigation and —"" Your company?" He asked before laughing hyster

Miguel POV.It looked like someone opened a time machine box releasing all the past to come back. I can't wrap my head around the fact that things that had died and been buried were coming alive. Right here on my table was a flash drive, a police report dated years ago and a photograph of a young girl. A face that I could never forget. My pulse quickened as the memory from years ago replayed in my mind. A night that had gone wrong. RosaYes that was her name. She was a sophomore. I picked up the original police report that waa filed that night. Someone is definitely coming at me and this is way beyond just Antonio. He wouldn't do this because he was involved in this case. Using this case to drag me to the dirt would also drag him too and the Antonio is too selfish not to think of himself. I scanned the box that I had removed this disturbing past from and it had no return address, no name, absolutely nothing that can help me trace the sender. I inserted the flash drive into my lapto

Isabel POV I stood in front of the white bungalow with a red door. I took one more look at the address then at the house number just to be sure I was at the right place. Why would she come all the way to Paris? Like France! I adjusted my coat taking in a deep breath before walking to the red shiny door. I knocked on the door and few minutes later the door swung open revealing a little girl of about seven years." Hi." I greeted. She looked at me weirdly squinting her eyes at me. " You don't look like a nanny, you look young so I'm pretty sure you can't make my favourite meal. So, no you can't be my nanny. Don't bother entering." She ranted maintaining eye contact with me the whole time. I stood there confused at what this was all about. " Who's at the door Esme?" Someone called out from inside the house. The little girl looked at me straight in the eye and shouted a no replying that person before slamming the door in my face. Ok that had to be one rude girl. I knocked again and th

I said as I took a sip from my coffee. " Why are you late."" Last I checked I don't work for your." He rolled his eyes at me." Let's go." He said standing up which I followed suit immediately. We walked towards the black Rolls Royce. We got in and got settled in. " Now tell me , how can you help." I asked immediately he started driving." Who are you looking for?" " I'm looking for Katie, She was my nanny at some point in my life" His head snapped at me like he was suprised." What a coincidence Miss Cruz." " I don't remember telling you my name, how do you know my name? Are you stalking me?" I asked as all my safety senses got alerted." No, I don't. I don't stalk people. It's usually the other way round." I rolled my eyes at him. His confidence is as big as a house." So where are we going to?" I asked. " It's not to

Isabel POV“Why hasn’t the power come back yet?” the doctor demanded, his voice strained as his hands pressed firmly on Diego’s chest. Sweat clung to his forehead, his arms moving in a steady rhythm. The silence was deafening, broken only by the doctor’s rhythmic counting.Miguel’s flashlight wavered as he clenched it tighter. “Why isn’t this working? Where’s the backup generator?”The scarred man had disappeared from the room, leaving us in the dark with nothing but the dull beam of light catching Diego’s pale, lifeless face.Marissa pressed her back against the wall, breathing hard. “I’ll check the hall again.” She said as she walked out sluggishly.Miguel’s voice cracked. “You’re not going alone.”Marissa’s eyes met his, calm but serious. “Then stay here and make sure Diego keeps breathing. Isabel POVThe footsteps grew louder. My pulse raced as I exchanged a glance with Miguel. Marissa raised her rifle slightly, ready but controlled. The door creaked open.Three men entered, dressed in dark suits, their expressions cold and professional. No visible weapons—but their rigid postures told me they were trained for this kind of situation.Miguel shifted, moving slightly in front of Diego. “Who the hell are you?”The tallest man, with a scar just above his eyebrow, raised his hands. “We’re here for you, Miguel. Your father sent us.”Silence fell over the room.Miguel’s expression twisted, a mix of relief and anger. “And where is he?”The scarred man kept his voice even. “Unavailable. But we’re under strict orders to secure your safety and assist with your brother’s care.”Miguel exhaled, shaking his head. “Of course, he sent his thugs instead of showing up himself.”The man didn’t react. “We’re here to help. Isabel POVThe buzz of the drone overhead made me freeze mid-step. Marissa cursed under her breath; her rifle still hidden beneath her coat. Miguel’s grip on Diego tightened, his expression grim as he glanced up at the sky.“They’ve got eyes on us,” Marissa said sharply, scanning the horizon.Miguel’s face was tense. “We need to keep moving.”“Wait,” I said, holding up my hand. “Diego can’t handle this. He’s not ready to be moved like this—he’s barely stable.”Miguel hesitated, his jaw tightening as he looked down at his brother. Diego’s face was pale, his breathing labored.“She’s right,” Marissa added, her voice softening. “If we keep running, we’ll kill him.”Miguel exhaled sharply. “Then what’s the alternative? We can’t stay out here.”I glanced back at the hospital. “We go back in.” I said sharply.Miguel POVMy instinct was to argue, but she wasn’t wrong. Diego couldn’t handle another step, and the drone above us meant we were out of options.“Back in?” Marissa asked, incredulou

Isabel POVThe nurse's whispered warning hit me like a slap. "You're being followed."Miguel stiffened beside me, his grip tightening on Diego's arm as we half-carried, half-dragged him into the small hospital lobby. "Who's following us?" Marissa demanded, her tone sharp and low."I don't know who they are, but they've been asking questions. They came through here earlier, showing pictures. They're still nearby.""We don't have time for this. My brother needs help."The nurse hesitated, her eyes flickering between Diego's pale face and the tension in Miguel's stance. Finally, she nodded. "Room four. Down the hall. I'll get a doctor."Marissa moved to the door; her rifle hidden beneath her coat. "I'll keep an eye out," she said, her voice calm but firm.I followed Miguel down the hallway, my heart racing. Isabel POVThe burst of static from the hidden comm device made my heart stop. The voice that followed was unmistakable.“Don’t move. You’re surrounded.”Miguel tensed, his eyes narrowing. Marissa gripped her rifle, scanning the forest for movement.“Gideon,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.“Congratulations,” the voice said, almost amused. “You’ve made it farther than I expected. But it ends here.”Marissa glanced at me; her expression sharp. “He’s bluffing. If we were surrounded, we’d already see them.”“he’s not the kind of man who bluffs,” Miguel said. The comm device crackled again. “Miguel, Isabel, Marissa... even Diego. your little escape. Impressive, but futile. Surrender now, and I might let you live.”Miguel’s jaw tightened. “Not a chance.”Marissa POVI hated the way Gideon’s voice got under my skin, as if he was already one step ahead. But I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of seeing us panic.“We need to move,” I said quietly, keeping my rifle raised. “Now.”

He wasn’t in any condition to walk, let alone run.“We can’t leave him behind,” I said firmly.Miguel didn’t even look at me as he slid his arm under Diego’s, hauling him upright. “We’re not.”Marissa scanned the trees, her rifle ready. “The sound came from the west. His expression hardened, and he motioned for me to stay low.“They’re close,” he whispered.“Too close,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.Marissa slipped through the brush; her movements nearly silent. She crouched near us; her face drawn. “Four of them,” she said. “Armed. Moving toward the hollow.”Miguel cursed under his breath, his grip tightening on his rifle. Diego stirred, his eyes fluttering open.“We can’t fight them,” I said, keeping my voice steady despite the growing panic in my chest. “Not with Diego like this.”Marissa nodded. “Agreed.
