Isabel POV

Miguel stared intensely at Gideon who is still bleeding. His Gun still trained at him even though he was shaking. Miguel with swift move landed a heavy punch on Gideon's face over and over again till I rushed to stop him from beating him to death.

"Be better than him, Miguel. That he is heartless doesn't mean we thread in the same path. You can be better. I said.

Miguel Pov.

Isabel's words felt very heavy in my heart as I managed to regain my composure.

Isabel held me tightly as she drew me to the edge of the tunnel where Marissa is seated bleeding.

We then left the tunnel to a new place for safety.

Isabel POV

The new safe house was colder than the last, both in atmosphere and in temperature. The tension hung thick in the air, unspoken but palpable. Miguel hadn't said a word since we left the tunnels. His expression was unreadable, his silence deafening.

Isabel POVThe note crumpled slightly in my trembling hand, but I refused to let it fall. My eyes burned as I stared at Miguel, the man I'd trusted through chaos and bloodshed, now standing with his back to me, his jaw tight, his silence louder than words."You were just going to leave?" I said, my voice sharp and accusing. "No explanation? No goodbye?"He turned slowly; his face shadowed in the dim light. His eyes, always steady, now flickered with guilt."It's not what you think," he began, but I stepped closer, cutting him off."Then explain," I snapped, shaking the note. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're running."Miguel POVHer words cut deeper than I expected. I hadn't planned to leave like this—not without telling her. But how could I explain the storm raging in my head? The file, the photograph, the possibility that my brother was alive... it consumed me."I'm not running," I said finally, though the words felt hollow. "I'm trying to fix things."She laugh

Isabel POVThe explosion left my ears ringing, the world reduced to a haze of smoke and chaos. The safe house groaned around us, wreckages raining down as the walls buckled under the force."Miguel!" I screamed, coughing through the thick dust. His hand found mine, pulling me to my feet. His grip was firm, a lifeline in the chaos."Run," he said, his voice steady despite the madness. He polled me through the opening.I didn't argue. We sprinted toward the back exit, dodging falling beams and navigating the collapsing structure.Miguel POVThe safe house was a death trap now, every second spent inside another step closer to the end. The attackers weren't letting up, their movements precise and unrelenting."Go left!" I shouted to Isabel, pushing her ahead as another explosion rocked the building. She hesitated, glancing back at me. "What about the others?""They'll manage," I said, though doubt gnawed at me. Isabel POVThe voice froze me in place. It wasn’t the cold tone or the precise command; it was the familiarity of it. Miguel stiffened beside me, his hand twitching toward his gun.“Don’t,” the voice warned. “I’d rather this not end in bloodshed—for once.”Through the dim light, the figure stepped forward. My breath caught as recognition dawned.“Alex,” Miguel growled, his voice dripping with disbelief.Miguel POVAlex’s smug grin hadn’t changed, but everything else about him had. His stance was more deliberate, his clothes sharper, and his gear... military-grade.“I bet you didn’t see this coming,” Alex said, lowering his gun but keeping it within reach as he steps closer to us and his face scanning the environment like hawk searching for its prey.“How are you alive?” I demanded with a little bit of unease running through me.“Resilient, aren’t I?” he replied, his smirk widening. “Let’s just say I had a little help.”Isabel POVI stepped closer to Miguel, my knife still in hand. “He

Isabel POVThe room was silent, the kind of silence that crushed you under its weight. Victor stood at the head of the table; his face drawn but resolute. Around him, the team shifted uneasily, their expressions a mix of shock, disbelief, and anger.“Say that again,” Marissa said, her voice sharp enough to cut through the tension.Victor’s gaze didn’t waver. “The only way to dismantle Gideon’s network entirely is to expose the sleeper agents and their operations. Every last one of them.” Victor said his tone commanding and his expression very firm.My stomach twisted. The magnitude of what he was proposing was incomprehensible.“And what happens to them?” I asked, though I already knew the answer.Victor didn’t flinch. “They’ll be burned. Their covers blown, their lives... collateral damage.” He said without remorse on his face. He doesn’t care just want them exposed.Miguel POVThe words hung in the air like a guillotine. My hands clenched into fists, the veins in my arms taut as I s

Isabel POVThe clock was merciless, each second ticking away like a hammer striking steel. I sat bent over Victor’s computer, the glowing screen illuminating the grim list of undercover agents. The names blurred together, but I forced myself to focus. Somewhere in these files were people I had helped—families I had relocated, lives I had sworn to protect.Victor’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “We don’t have time for this,” he barked, pacing behind me. “The plan is set. Either you’re with me, or you’re not.”I ignored him, scanning the columns of data for anything that stood out. A pattern. A clue. Something to buy these people more than the death sentence Victor was preparing to deliver.Miguel POVMarissa and I moved through the lower levels of the safe house; our weapons drawn. The place was too quiet now, the air thick with anticipation.“This isn’t just a raid,” Marissa muttered her voice barely audible, her eyes scanning every corner. “It’s precision work. Gideon’s people

Isabel POVThe sharp crack of the sniper’s shot echoed through the air, and my heart seized as Victor staggered. For a moment, the world narrowed to him—a stumbling figure, his hand clutching his shoulder. Blood bloomed through his jacket, but he stayed on his feet.“He’s hit!” Miguel shouted, already moving to pull Victor back into cover.“Not fatal,” Marissa called from her position, her voice tight. She scanned the horizon, her rifle poised. “But the next one will be.” “We need to move!” I said.Miguel pulled Victor behind the barricade. “Can you walk?”Victor nodded. “It’s just a graze.”Marissa fired off two quick shots. “Snipers got a spotter. They’re repositioning.”Miguel grabbed my arm, pulling me into motion. “Isabel, can you get us an exit? Fast?” “The systems still locked. I need time.”“You don’t have time!”Miguel POVThe chaos was closing in. Marissa held the southern entrance. Victor’s injury wasn’t slowing him yet, but the blood dripping from his fingers told me it

Isabel POVThe automated defenses came alive with a shriek of grinding metal, sending us scrambling for cover. Machine-gun turrets deployed from hidden compartments in the walls, spraying bullets indiscriminately into the chaos. Screams filled the air, and I flattened myself against the ground, clutching my laptop to my chest.“They’re targeting everyone!” I shouted, my voice barely cutting through the cacophony.Miguel dragged me to my feet, his grip firm. “Move! Now!”We sprinted down a side corridor, dodging shrapnel and stray gunfire. The building, already battered by the siege, felt like it was collapsing around us. The floor trembled beneath my boots, and the overhead lights flickered like dying fireflies.Victor’s voice crackled over the comms. “We need to split up. Isabel, secure the data. Miguel, find an escape route. Marissa, get us a diversion.”“And you?” Marissa’s reply was sharp, her tone daring him to say something foolish.“I’ll buy us time,” Victor said curtly.“No he

The air in the resistance base buzzed with an energy that was equal parts anticipation and dread. Though Ruby and her team had delivered a crippling blow to the Shadow, the cracks in the landscape, the faint echoes of corruption still lingering in the Wastes, spoke to a danger far from eradicated. The Shadow's remnants were more than just scars; they were seeds, threatening to sprout into new horrors if left unchecked.Ruby stood in the command center, leaning over a table strewn with maps and tactical reports. The dim light overhead cast sharp shadows across her face. Evelyn's voice was sharp as ever as she discussed deployments with the council."We've dispatched scouts to all regions marked by Finn's residual energy readings," Evelyn said, her fingers tracing the map. "But reports from the south are troubling. A village near the Wastes border… it's gone dark. No communication. No survivors seen leaving."Finn adjusted his device, the holographic map flickering to life above the tab

Miguel’s POVI lunged at Gideon just as his finger squeezed the trigger. The deafening crack of the gunshot echoed through the tunnels, but I was faster. The bullet went wide, ricocheting off the concrete wall. My shoulder screamed in pain as I crashed into him, knocking his weapon loose.Maria stumbled back, clutching her wrist, face pale but determined.Gideon snarled, twisting under me, his knee driving into my ribs. The breath shot from my lungs, but I didn’t let go. Not this time."You don't get to win!" I growled, slamming my fist into his face. His head snapped back against the floor. Blood dripped from his lip, but the man barely seemed fazed."You think this is winning, Miguel?" he spat, voice low. "Look around you. You're bleeding out. Your brother can barely stand. Isabel's POVThe gunshot echoed like a thunderclap, making me freeze mid-step. Diego stiffened against my side, his breath catching as his head whipped around toward the sound."That was close," Marissa said, her voice tight as she scanned the tunnels. She shifted her rifle slightly, signaling for silence as we listened. The boots chasing us had fallen quiet too.Diego grabbed my arm. "Miguel... Mom..." he said as he looked back hoping to still see them coming behind but they were stuck with Gideon.I shook my head, forcing calm into my voice. "We keep moving, Diego. We can't help them if we get caught." I said as I looked at Andrew who as well is unsure of what to say. I took his hands and pulled him forward with me.Andrew fumbled with his map in the dim light, his face pale. "The tunnels split ahead. If Miguel and Maria took the cooling system, then they will be closer than we thought" he said slightly fold the map and dipped it into the small bag hung around his neck. I could see the

Miguel's POVThe stench of gunpowder clung to the damp air as Maria and I crouched behind the rusted dumpster, pinned by the relentless spray of bullets. The early morning light barely touched the alley, distorted by the swirling helicopter blades above, making the flurry of loose notebook pages dance in the rotor wash.Maria clutched the single folded page against her chest, her breathing ragged but determined. My pulse hammered in my ears as I checked the last rounds in my magazine."We're trapped," I muttered, voice low. "Any brilliant ideas?" I asked as my heart kept beating fast. She hesitated, eyes locked on the paper in her trembling hands. "We need to reach the warehouse. Before they do. The truth isn't just in this notebook—your father's real research... his evidence... it's all there. But if they get to it first they will do as they …” before I could continue; a bullet pinged off the metal behind us, making both of us flinch.Gideon’s voice sliced through the chaos. "You can't h

Miguel’s POVGideon’s gun was still pointed at us, the morning sun glaring off the metal. My pulse thundered as my hand hovered near my holster, but Maria gripped my wrist tightly. Her knuckles were white.“Don’t,” she whispered. “You don't know what you're dealing with. Stay still.” She said with her firm voice as she stare at Gideon.Gideon took a step closer, his eyes narrowing as his men shifted behind him, blocking both ends of the alley. He looked almost disappointed.“You always were the sentimental one, Maria.” His voice was smooth, calculated. “Even after you knew the cost.” He said his tone very calm and calculated.Maria’s voice trembled, but she held her ground. “You manipulated my research. Turned it into something horrifying.”Gideon’s lips curled into a smirk. “It was never your research. You were a tool. An effective one, but replaceable. Your husband understood that in the end.”I felt my stomach drop.Maria's eyes flicked to mine, panic flashing for just a moment before sh
