Sophia

"Contract marriage?" I exclaimed, unable to believe my ears. "Yes, the only reason he's getting married to Samantha is so that he can form a partnership with her father," Reggie replied.

"But Leo is a drug lord. Since when do drug lords even form partnerships?" I asked with a scoff. "They do. It's not common because of the lack of trust in the drug business, but Leo is sure that Sam's father won't hurt him if he's married to Sam."

On hearing that, I realized that Leo cared more about his business than he did about me, iif he cared at all.

"I have to go, Reggie. Thanks for bringing me here," I said and got out of the car to leave. I couldn't handle hearing about how Leo never loved me any longer.

"Sophia!" Reggie called out. I stopped in my tracks and turned to him. "He still loves you, he's just in a really tight position right now," he said. I almost scoffed at his words. "Sure," I muttered and slammed the door shut.

I walked into my new condo. It wasn't big or fancy, but it was quite homey. I felt more at peace there than I ever had at Leo's in the last two years.

I grabbed a bottle of wine from the counter and popped it open, pouring the contents into my mouth. I don't remember how much of the wine I drank, all I remembered was drinking on the couch until I passed out.

.

.

.

The ringing of the doorbell woke me up the next day. I got up too fast and was immediately knocked back down by a banging headache. "Shit!" I cursed and massaged my head with my fingers.

The doorbell rang again and again, making my head hurt even more. When I couldn't take it anymore, I forced myself to get off the couch and practically dragged myself to the door. I slid it open expecting to see someone, but there was no one there.

"Is this thing broken?" I mumbled and took a look at the doorbell, but it seemed fine. I poked my head out and looked around to see if someone was hiding in a corner, but there was no one.

"Must be a ring and ditch," I thought to myself and made to close the door. Suddenly, a tall man jumped in front of me, and before I could react, he grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing.

I screamed, punched, and kicked, trying to attract the attention of the neighbors, but since it was a Monday, everyone had gone to work or school.

The man carried me to a red car and threw me into the trunk. I was extremely claustrophobic, so being stuck in the trunk was traumatic for me. I kicked the trunk, hoping a cop or passerby would hear and become suspicious, but it seemed like everyone in the world had disappeared.

I finally gave up kicking as I was running out of air in the enclosed trunk. I still had a headache from the hangover, and I was beginning to feel nauseous.

I felt the car finally come to a halt, and the door opened and shut. I guessed we had arrived at our destination, wherever that was. The trunk was finally opened, and I was hit with a wave of fresh air and light.

The man dragged me out of the trunk, and I saw that he had parked in front of an abandoned warehouse. He pulled me into the warehouse and made me sit in an old chair. "What do you want from me? Who sent you? How much did they pay? I'll pay triple," I promised in a desperate attempt to be let go.

"Shut your mouth while I'm being gentle," he threatened, and I quickly went quiet. He was really muscular, and I feared one hit from him would leave me dead.

The door to the warehouse slid open, and two women walked in. One had her face covered by a mask, so I couldn't make out who she was, but the other person I recognized right away.

"Sam!" I gasped. Why did she have me kidnapped? Hadn't she done enough by stealing my husband?

"Hello, Sophia. How are you doing?" she asked with a stupid smile on her face. "What is wrong with you, Sam? Haven't you done enough?" I yelled, wanting to break out of the chair and slap her across the face.

"Easy there. We don't want you straining your voice now. You can scream your lungs out later," she said, and I wondered what she meant by that. "Why are you doing this? Does Leo know about this?" I asked. "Leo gave me permission to do whatever I wanted with you," she replied, and my heart sank on hearing that.

"Lies! Leo would never do that!" I yelled, though deep down, I was beginning to think he was actually capable of doing it. "After the stunt you pulled yesterday, he asked me to get rid of you," she replied with a smirk.

"So what are you going to do to me now? How else are you going to hurt me?" I asked with a scoff. The worst she could do was hit me. She turned to the man standing next to her and, with a wicked smile, said, "Burn her."

GINA’S POV As odd as it may seem, It was the smug look on his face when Leonardo tried to pummel him that convinced me he was telling the truth when he said he would help us with Al duro.He still had everything that Quinn had instilled in him. All the attitudes and the anger. He still hated those Quinn hated. I found myself telling Hailey’s husband to keep Leonardo from harming Georgie. It wasn't easy but things finally died down.Georgie returned to his knees, before me. “Where is Al duro now?” I asker him.“There is a place by the riverside. The place Quinn's family were buried. The place where Quinn comes to look at the people that killed his parents and remind himself that he still has to kill their daughter. The last person in their family he hasn't killed. That's where Al duro will be and I know the way.”I dismissed Georgie for a moment. He stood ourside while I deliberated with Hailey’s husband. For sure we were going after Al duro but I have to be certain that we have enou

GINA’S POV The doctors lifted Quinn onto the stretcher and hurried off, beckoning on everyone to get out of the way. I tried seeing him off with them, to see his face before he is wheeled into the theater but the nurses held me back.“Mam, please. He need to get treatment. You could be bleeding internally. Mam, he will be fine. Please take care of yourself.” They said. Their hands gripping me from all sides. My face is smeared with tears and my vision blurred. I couldn't fight their hold. I'm just too tired. The nurses won, strapping me to a stretch. The lights on my way to the the emergency room kept flickering on and off. I turned my head sideways and held a nurses hand. And mutered. “Please… please don't let my husband die.”Her eyes are glossy, holding a hint of uncertainty. She mouthed silently. ‘We will try our best.’ It was the last thing I heard before the lights went out.****************THE FOLLOWING DAY “Mum, Dad is going to be alright. Don't cry please.” Derek said, snu

  • BETRAYED BY THE MAFIA LORD   Chapter One hundred and two

GINA'S POV I hit the road in the night and drove my full tank of gas all the way towards God knows where until it dried up. I parked the rental car in a motel I found in that unknown location and checked in. It is day break already. My eyes are sullen from crying and my head is aching. The motel attendant gave me aspirin and asked me to take it in front of her. I wasn't going to OD (overdose) and die in their motel.I didn't find it funny, not even a little bit. I paid in cash and crashed my tired self on the bed. Yesterday night playing in my mind on loop. I'm Aura. I'm Aura. I've been Aura this entire time. They were looking for me. I couldn't remember anything from the past that Quinn had narrated but it somehow made sense that I met Quinn and Leonardo. Why I was instantly pulled to them of all the people in the world.Until last night, I was certain my parents were mine. I had been lied to. Over and over. How much of my life do I not know? How much is missing in my memory?“Fuc

GINA'S POVMy plan touched down on East side, Orlands Airport. I took the rental car and drove into town. It is going to be a long drive to my destination so I called home. I talked with Derek than I called an old friend.“Hello, Guss.”I heard a chuckle at the other end of the phone.“What's funny?”“Oh, nothing. I'm still surprised you asked me for help. I mean. The first time we met ended you making one of those Hispanic girls slap the nuts of me.”I smiled. That was funny. “I'm glad you don't hold grudges.”“Grudges don't suit a black brother like me plus, the lady is hot by the way.”I let out a small laugh. “Take care of her.”“I will.” The line cut. I dropped the phone and stepped on the gears. The retried nurse told me that Aura was not adopted. She was taken by her family. Going on this hunt, made me realize why Quinn and Leonardo may have never found this if they looked. Hailey’s husband has access to filed that no one else can. GINA'S POV“Hello, Quinn, finally. I've been calling.”“I'm sorry baby. Its really messed up over here.” I can hear a hint of frustration in his voice.“Is she really Aura.” He was silent for a moment. “Yeah.”“Oh my god.”“Mhmm. It really sucks. I didn't think I will ever have to meet her again under these circumstances.”“What are You gonna do?”“Leonardo and I have agreed, we will stay. If we left her alone back then she wouldn't have ended up the way she did. We have to make it up to her. Anyway we can.”“Quinn, are you growing a soft spot for her?” I wish so bad that he can understand how disgusted that made me feel.“I know this is so out of place but she is Aura.”“I don't care. Your Aura has become a bitch. Who she was in the past past doesn't validate or save her from any of the harm she did in the Future.” I was almost yelling, veins popping from my head. “Gina, please. I understand what this is like but I don't think you understand that we owe this girl. We have a lot to

  • BETRAYED BY THE MAFIA LORD   Chapter Ninety-nine

SAMANTHA’S POVIts been a month since I fell off that base building. I still had fractures in places where fractures shouldn't be. But that wasn't the scary thing, it is that once again I had to sit in the same room with the men who put me here.Quinn is standing behind Leo. His massive figure pressing too hard against his suite. His face is ice cold and he wore no smile. Like the executioner on a visit with Hades. Leo was comfortable settled in the third cushion chair in the room. His legs crossed and his eyes fixed on me without blinking.I held my breath and squeezed my palms together. Trying to remind myself to calm down that I was here welcome. “Samantha Honey, it's alright. This men are your friends. That have been looking for you. Tell them how you found us.” The old lady said. I smiled brightly and then returned my gaze to the two men. I gulped. If only she knew what we all meant to each other now she wouldn't have cramped us up in the same room.“I remember two weeks ago, L
