Chapter Ten: Quarrel

It started to get dark, we were all inside the house. I stayed in the bedroom and I haven’t gotten dressed yet. I took off my shirt and heard a knock outside. "Just come in," I ordered. I heard the door creak so I turned around and my mouth opened when I saw Freeda at the door. Her eyes widened when she saw me shirtless and just wearing boxer shorts. She was also carrying a laundry basket.

''I-I'm sorry, I'll be back later,'' she apologized and she was about to leave but I stopped her, I held her hands and she was surprised. ''It's okay, just take my dirty clothes over there,'' I said and pointed to the pile of laundry. "Okay," she said, walking over to my closet. I also went to my closet to get a shirt.

I was behind her and I noticed her height. She was a small girl but I wondered how she dared to fight. I remember that night she followed us to the bar, I saw how she knocked the man down there. I was amazed when she fought the big man. All my life I have only just seen a woman who is so brave, even if her life is in danger she is still ready to fight. She's cool.

After she put the laundry in the basket, she turned around, she was surprised again that I was just behind her. ''I'm leaving now,'' she said and almost walk away but she was stopped when I pushed her and she leaned her back on the wardrobe. Her eyes widened looking at me, I noticed that she was uncomfortable. I could read in her mind the things that I would never do to her. I just thought of tripping her, I wanna see how she reacts to what I do.

"W-why? What are you going to do?" she stuttered, I smiled and brought my face closer to her. I refrain from laughing at what she thinks that I will do. She thought that maybe I was going to do something really bad.

"Why do you seem scared? I'm not going to do anything bad...but if you want to...," I said and slowly pressed my body to hers. Her eyes glazed over at me.

"If you think you can do some things to me, then you're wrong!" she blurted. To my surprise, she suddenly kicked me in my groin using her knee. I cried out in pain and sat up in bed. "Freeda!!" I shouted. She immediately left the room with the laundry.

I saw Flynn and Enzo enter my room when they heard me scream. I rolled over in bed because of the pain. That woman is a b*tch, she took revenge on me, she will regret it and I can't let her just beat me up.

''Pft! Really? She beat you up again?'' Enzo asked and chuckled. ''I didn't do anything! She suddenly kick me in my groin,'' I murmured. Alas and Magnus were curious and also entered here.

''You've always been beaten by Freeda, I won't get shocked when you get crippled or broke a bone next time,'' Magnus muttered and they all laugh at me.

"Go away! You're all annoying!" I exclaimed. ''That's what you get for tripping with her,'' Alas chided, they left the room but Flynn remained.

''Get up, we're all going to eat for dinner,'' he said. I sat down and noticed that he seemed worried. I thought about what happened earlier in the morning, Max was angry with him so he will teach him a lesson for breaking his orders.

''What did you and Max talk about?'' I asked, he looked at the floor with his hand in his pocket.

''We have a misunderstanding, later we'll go to the woods, you know what will gonna happen,'' he answered. My forehead wrinkled, I knew what he meant. What I just don't understand is why they still have to go far, they can just talk here at home.

He left and went down, I also followed and when I arrived at the kitchen, I saw Freeda was already serving food with Enzo. The two of us looked at each other and I glared at her.

"All of you sit down," Max ordered. I sat down on the chair and took food from the plates. I looked at Max and he was very serious, well he's really like that since before but I seemed to smell something fishy. He didn't share anything with us on what he will do with Flynn, I don't know, I'll find it out later.

While eating I catch a glimpse of Freeda next to Enzo who is eating, I noticed that she was wearing Jude’s big t-shirt and black jogging pants. I’m not used to seeing her with us, I can’t believe what Max thought. I thought that he was going to kill her that night, but he just made her our maid. From undercover to the helper. Real quick. I laughed at what I thought. I didn't realize that they were all looking at me.

''You look happy Cassius, what happened to you?'' Max asked. I went back to being serious and continued eating.

''Nothing Max,'' I answered. I just avoided looking at Freeda so I won't laugh. When we all finished eating we still stayed at the table. Max has something to say about the things to do and the things that are forbidden to Freeda at home.

''To make it clear, your condition is that you will do everything and I will let you live, I agreed to your condition so I made you a maid here at home. So don’t ever complain, but there are things you should never do. The first is don’t ever try to escape. Second, don’t break my commands. Lastly, don’t ever hurt my brothers,'' Max dictated.

We all looked at Freeda who was scratching her nape, she was a little bit embarrassed. She already hurt us all when she kicked us one by one when we caught her in the old town. She just hurt me again earlier, when I didn't do anything but just came closer to her.

"Yeah, I understand it, but to make it fair, I would like to ask for three things," she requested. Max nodded, we were just looking at Freeda.

''The first thing is I would like to know of what happened to Officer Sebastian, if did he survive, or got killed. Second, I would like to get my important belongings left in the house. Lastly, please let me go to the cemetery to offer flowers for my late parents and grandmother,'' she said.

Max straightened up and placed his hands on the table. Because she mentioned the name of the police officer, our secret investigation will be carried out. That's what we're waiting for her to open up about it. She has a connection with them and she knows the course of their plans.

''We didn't catch him, he escaped, but can you tell me what's the connection you have with him?'' Max asked, Freeda was serious and took a deep breath.

''I was an undercover agent of the police department, he was the one who took me to spy on their suspects,'' she answered without hesitation.

''Do you know who he is?'' he asked, Freeda was confused and looked at the rest of us. "Umm...I know my father used to work with him, and he helped us when my dad died," she said and leaned on the chair.

''When because of you he escaped, did you know that it was a big mistake?'' he appeased, Max was irritated at Freeda because of what she had done, the man who would be the key to our mission had escaped. "How could it be wrong to save a man? I know I did the right thing to save him, I am very grateful to him and I will not let him perish," Freeda argued.

Max shook his head, he didn't agree with what she said. ''You're pathetic, you trusted the traitor behind you, you were so stupid that you believed him,'' he dictated. I noticed Freeda's hands clench when she heard what Max said.

''Don't ever talk to me like that, why would I believe you? Why would I believe a criminal like you?!'' she exclaimed. We were surprised when Max suddenly smacked his hands on the table.

''If you think that I'm a criminal? What else is the person you trusted the most who is covering up illegal drug transactions? Now I'll ask you. Are you ready to sacrifice your life for a bad person? If what you are fighting for is right, then why does it still seem wrong? Because you don't know what is going on behind your back, they just made you a fool!' he retorted.

Freeda had no reaction and she just focused on him, she didn’t believe him so it would be a problem if she kept believing in those people. If she only knew the truth she might be shocked, the people he thought that she could trust were the people who could put her in danger of getting just what they wanted.

''E-excuse me, I'm just going to wash the dishes,'' Enzo interrupted. Amid the tension, I just kept listening to what they were talking about. Enzo slowly picked up the plates to be washed. Freeda was about to stand up to help him.

''We're not done talking yet,'' Max stopped her, she returned to her seat and reluctantly looked at him.

''What else are we going to talk about?'' she interrogated.

''Regarding your two other requests, I can't be sure if I'll let you go to town, I'll just ask Jude and Alas to get your belongings, and if you go to the cemetery, Magnus and Cassius will accompany you. You can only visit them once in a year,'' he explained. She blink a few times and doesn't seem to agree.

"Once a year? I visit my parents' grave every month," she complained. Max drank some water before answering her. ''If you don't want to, then don't go. You've been given a day but you don't want to. That's not my problem anymore. End of conversation,'' he said and stood up in his chair. He walked away but turned his attention to us, I noticed that he was looking at Flynn.

''Come with me,'' he commanded. Suddenly Flynn stood up and followed him. Magnus and I looked at each other and we both thought about what was happening.

"No one will follow us outside, stay here inside the house," he ordered, I leaned back in my chair while thinking of what to do.

When the two of them already left, Magnus, Alas, Jude, and I were left sitting here at the table. "Where are the two going? Why are they two alone? Why aren't we included," Enzo asked? ''I don't know, he hasn't said anything yet, maybe the two will just talk,'' I shrugged.

"By the way, Freeda, where do you live? We'll just get your stuff tomorrow," Alas asked. Freeda stopped wiping the table. "I live in the old apartment near the plaza since I don't have anything to wear here, so I would have asked you to get my clothes," she replied.

"All right, we'll take care of it and just do your tasks, then clean my room later, I'll take care of some documents for work first," he said. He left and went to the other room where our office was. Jude remained sitting on his chair while Magnus was deep in thought.

''Let's have a drink on the terrace, '' I invited, Magnus stood up. Jude just shook his head. ''I'm going to sleep,'' he said and left immediately and went up the stairs. Our youngest brother is very problematic. He's always like that, avoiding us since our parents died. He only talks when he needs something, I don't know about that boy. There’s something he’s not telling us.

"I'll wait for you upstairs," Magnus said and went to the terrace first. I took a bottle of wine that was on top of the cabinet, Freeda was washing the dishes at the sink, Enzo was feeding the dog outside so we were the only two here in the kitchen.

''Looks like you're enjoying beating me up,'' I whispered. She just kept quiet and ignored me, I teased her when I put a lot of plates to be washed, "Please wash these all," I teased and she glared at me. "If you don't leave here, I might hit you again!" she blurted and I chuckled.

I left her in the kitchen alone. When I went to the terrace, Magnus was sitting on a chair. I also sat down and set down the wine and two glasses on the small table. ''It's cold tonight, and where to have the two gone,'' I said as I poured the wine into the glass.

''I don't have a good feeling Cassius, you already know Max, we know how angry he is,'' he said as he took the glass of wine and drank. ''Yeah, I know Max will teach a lesson to whoever breaks his commands,'' I said and looked around.

I remember what happened before that Flynn hadn’t been out of the house for several months.

He violated the golden rule that it is forbidden to fall in love with a woman. The woman he loved found out our secret and almost killed us, but Max did the killing of the woman and Flynn didn’t accept that so he was mad at him.

''Max didn't like that he was defending Freeda, he knew what happened before would happen again. What will Max do to Flynn?'' I wondered, Magnus was stroking his chin and also thought seriously. "I don't know either but..it doesn't look like anything good will happen between the two of them," he said.

As we were drinking we suddenly stood up when he heard a noise in the distance. The two of us looked at each other and we both had a bad feeling and hurried down to get out.

''We're not allowed to go out, '' Enzo reminded, while Freeda was distracted by us as she cleaned the floor. We hesitated to go out but we had to go to them, maybe they were fighting without us knowing.

''Just stay here inside, we'll just come out to follow them, '' I said and Magnus and I left immediately. We ran into the woods and followed the noise our ears could hear. ''They're far away, '' Magnus said.

We figured out a way to get to them. There is no full moon but we can shapeshift. I saw Magnus running in the other direction and I saw his gray fur that was similar to mine. We have a lot in common because we are twins, but if his eyes are yellow, it is Magnus, and if it is blue it is me. Cassius.

We are the Betas in the pack.

When we saw Maximus and Flynn, we were shocked to find them fighting. We heard them growling and snarling. They were in their wolf form quarreling, the two of them were already hurting so Magnus and I immediately approached to mediate and stop them.

The white wolf who is Max looked at us and was furious. His red eyes glared at us. The brown-colored wolf Flynn was blocked by Magnus, he was weakening so I stopped Max as well. Max hit me so I fought back. ''Stop it, Max!'' I said telepathically.

"Even you don't follow my rules anymore!" he also replied telepathically.

We stopped fighting when we saw Jude walking towards us. Jude also changed his form, he was a black wolf, he looked at Max as I approached Flynn to help him. "Max! He has a wound!" Magnus shouted when he returned in human form.

I have never fought Max before, but when he did secretly hurt Flynn, that was no longer right. He is the one who hurts us. He is so strict that we can turn our backs on him.

''I'm okay, we talked about this so don't worry,'' Flynn said and slowly stood up, his arm was bleeding a little so we helped him stand up.

I looked at Jude and Max, who were also back in their human form, we were all werewolf shifters, so we could shapeshift at what time and where we wanted.

''I thought you were going to sleep?'' I asked Jude. He walked closer to us.'' I just have something important to say to Max,'' he replied. We all looked at max who was just standing there while looking at us. He was still mad at Flynn for what he was doing.

''I'll repeat it, Flynn, I didn't take Freeda out of pity, don't be stupid. Don't give in to emotion, we shouldn't trust her. We will just use her for our mission, she is the way for us to get close to the police because the man who killed our father is there!'' he exclaimed, I knew what he was planning, I have a right guess that we would use Freeda for the mission, but it would hinder us if someone fell into the trap. When someone falls for freeda, we know that Flynn is looking for love, which he hasn’t found yet.

''I know you're all afraid that I'll repeat the mistake that I made before, but I've already learned my lesson. Don't need to worry, if you use her for our mission, I will help to gain her trust but I only want one condition, just don't hurt her and let her live,'' Flynn explained. He sighed as he held his arm, I sighed and looked at Max.

''If that's the plan Max, I will agree. Freeda is undercover by the police department, so she knows a lot about their plans,'' I added. We will also have a hard time using Freeda because we can’t trust her either, but for now, we will let her live at home first as our maid.

''We better plan our mission well because if we make a mistake, we will all perish. Let's not put our safety in Freeda's hands, because she may be putting us in danger,'' Magnus dictated. Magnus has a point, even if Freeda is a key to our mission we still have to be complacent, we don't know Freeda very well yet.

She could have tricked us, so she could escape and the police will catch us. It is difficult but there is only one thing we can do, which is to monitor the way she thinks and her movements.

''That thing is easy, I know how to tame Freeda,'' Jude interrupted, we all looked at him and Max raised his eyebrow. We looked at each other because he was miraculously talking to us. We don’t know what he ate or why he suddenly dealt with us.

''What are you going to do?'' Max asked. Jude grinned as he smirked. ''I have the necklace that the old woman left me, you know that it was magical and I can make Freeda do whatever I want, using it,'' he replied.

We were a little bit surprised by what he said, Max nodded and came close to him. ''In that case, do the thing that will help us, we are not fighting for anything, we are seeking justice for our father,'' he said and patted his back.

After the incident we all went back inside the house, I was supposed to go back to my room but I stopped when I saw Flynn sitting on the terrace and Freeda was treating his wound. I hid on the side to listen to their conversation.

''Thank you,'' Flynn said. "You're welcome, you also helped me the night that I was alone," Freeda replied. I gasped again and decided to head to the bedroom, I have held a small wound on my arm, I get it when Max and I fought earlier to protect Flynn.

When I got to the room I couldn’t understand how I was feeling, I looked like I was jealous of what I saw. No woman worried about my condition, they only chased me for money. I also want to feel that someone will take care of me, like how my mother took care of me when I was a child.

''Who can love a crazy person like me,'' I wondered.
