Eden's POV

“Help?” I asked, confused at first. Why would I need help in the shower?

But then I realized what Zane was suggesting…he was insinuating that we…

I blushed a deep, crimson red.

I quickly shook my head and then ran into the bathroom. I closed the door tightly behind me. On the other side of the door, I heard Zane chuckle.

I let the water run until it was nice and hot. Then I stepped into the shower. I watched the dirt and grime slide from my body and swirl into the drain with the water.

Occasionally, the water turned red, washing away my blood.

When the water hit the cuts on my arm, I recoiled. It stung. I winced, gingerly placing my arms back into the water. I needed to clean these cuts.

I shampooed my hair, careful not to get soap in my cuts. Then I rinsed off.

I stepped out of the shower, feeling like a new woman.

I wrapped a towel around my chest and wiped the steam from the mirror. I hummed softly under my breath, but I gasped when I saw my reflection.

Eden's POVMy skin was on fire. Butterflies ripped through my stomach. My heart beat with desire. I never wanted to leave his arms, I wanted him wrapped around me forever.“To the bed,” he whispered in my ear.The bed?Like I had a choice. His breath felt like bolts of electricity. With his arms still wrapped firmly around my waist, Zane walked me over the bed. When we got there, he released me and spun me around. His face said it all. This was about a lot more than just ‘healing’. He wanted me. I wanted him.I was naked. He was half-naked. The sexual chemistry was so thick, I could have cut it with a knife. He placed his hands on my shoulders and gently pushed me onto the bed.He hovered over me. I looked up into his eyes. Lust rippled through me. A sharp sting in my arm, though, reminded me of my wounds.“I need medication,” I shyly reminded him. I was worried about the infection. If we left it too long, it could get bad really fast. And without a wolf, I had no way to fight it off

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 115: About the Baby…

Eden's POVI didn’t respond. I didn’t know what to say.“Who is the father?” Zane asked again, his voice firm.He was still looking at his hand on my stomach. Why was he asking this? Didn’t he know? How could he NOT know? The baby was his! We’d had sex. Only once, but once is enough. What did he think? Who else’s child could it be?Unless…Did he think I was sleeping with someone else? Really? That’s what he thought of me?Just when I thought Zane was something special, he did something like this. Something to remind me that he was just like all the other men.Men who could sleep with several different people and think nothing of it.I thought Zane knew me better than that.Apparently he didn’t.I frowned and pushed his hand from my stomach. I wanted to get up, out of this bed, and put on some clothes. The moment we’d had was over. That tends to happen when a man accuses you of sleeping around.I was glad he had broken the trance. If he hadn’t, I would have slept with him again. And t

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 116: A Disgrace to All Alphas

Zane's POV“I’ll go with you.” Eden’s voice was soft. I was putting on my shirt. Damn, she looked so beautiful. Her naked skin glistened in the soft light of the room. I didn’t want to leave her. EVER again. I wanted to lie in bed with her all night. To hold her close. But they’d found Caleb and I had to go deal with that.“No,” I said, shaking my head. “You stay here. Rest.” The welts on her arms were healing, thanks to my saliva. But she still looked tired, weary. She needed to sleep.I bent down and took her head in my hands. I kissed her forehead.“I won’t be long. Rest. Wait for me here.”Then I left Eden and followed my warrior to the room where Caleb was being held. I stormed into the room. He was sitting on a chair in the middle of the room. The sight of him made my blood boil.I marched towards him without a word and punched him hard, right in the stomach. He yelped and bent over, almost falling off the chair. My Lycan strength had probably ruptured something inside his stoma

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 117: Slap

Eden's POV“You’re pleading for HIM?” Zane asked, locking his eyes on mine.I was afraid of this. At first, when Zane left, I laid back in bed. Zane was right, I was exhausted. But then I bolted upright.Oh no, I’d thought, fear prickling through me. I knew what Zane was like, when he was mad. He didn’t think straight. He’d gone to find Caleb. And when he did…‘He’ll kill him.’ The thought felt like a hit in the stomach. No, I couldn’t let him do that. So I’d jumped out of bed and asked the warriors which way. Caleb was being held in a room on the first floor of the hotel. I flew down the stairs, two at a time, praying to the Moon Goddess I wasn’t too late.I got here just in time. Sure enough, when I opened the door, there was Zane holding Caleb by the throat. Caleb’s face was turning purple.“Put him down,” I pleaded, terrified that Zane was going to kill Caleb right here, right before my eyes.“You’re defending HIM?” Zane asked incredulously. His voice was tight with restrained an

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 118: I Don’t Know Where to Go

Eden's POVI couldn’t believe what I had done. I snapped. Slapped Zane. Straight across the face. The room was silent. The warriors, the guards, Caleb, Zane – they all stood frozen in place, eyes wide. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I felt tears in my eyes. Everyone was staring at me. This was all too much. I couldn’t handle this anymore. Zane’s jealousy. His rage. I had to get out of here.So I ran out of the room before the tears spilled from my eyes.Zane caught up with me in the hall.“Eden,” he said, grabbing my arm. “Where are you going?”I didn’t know. I didn’t know where I was going. Anywhere but here? Away from him? Away from all of this? Is that what I really wanted though? To be away from Zane? The first time I’d left him, I’d missed him. Terribly. I didn’t even realize how much until I saw him again at my grandfather’s party. And then, in the Easy Spit, when Zane came to rescue me…My heart soared at the sight of him.But now?I didn’t know what I wanted. • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 119: Alpha Skylar

Zane's POVI personally escorted Eden back to the Silvermist Pack. I wasn’t about to leave her side. If that’s where she wanted to be, then that’s where we’d BOTH be.As soon as we returned, I summoned Alpha Miles. He took one look at Eden and wrapped his arms around her.“Thank you, King Zane,” he said, cupping Eden’s head in his hands. Her eye was still swollen but the cuts on her arms were healing. “You brought my granddaughter back to me. I am forever in your debt.”Alpha Miles bowed his head to me. The highest show of respect. I smiled.“She means a lot to both of us,” I told him. Alpha Miles turned to leave, but I stopped him. “Alpha Miles, I am returning control of the pack back to you, effective immediately.”Alpha Miles beamed. “As you wish, King Zane,” he said.Eden clung onto my arm. “Thank you,” she whispered. I pulled her into my body. Slade sighed, deeply content at having Eden so close by.Just then, a man rushed towards us.“Your highness,” he said, his eyes frantic. “

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 120: Precious Friends

Eden's POVAlpha Skylar walked away, his head hung low. I watched. Zane wrapped his arm around me, protectively. Zane was right. There was NOTHING innocent about Jacob. He was a sleaze. But he was young. And he wasn’t entirely to blame for everything. Zane’s punishment was just and fair.“Eden!”I turned to see Astrid emerging from the forest. Without a second thought I ran to her. We embraced. At the rogue camp, she’d stayed behind at the Easy Spit to help the battered women. So I hadn’t really had a chance to talk to her.“I’m so glad you’re safe,” she said to me. She linked her arm to mine. “Zane, I’ll be stealing Eden away for a bit. We have a lot to catch up on.”Zane nodded and smiled. He knew I was safe with Astrid. He didn’t want to let me out of his sight, but he trusted Astrid. “Of course,” he said.Astrid and I walked arm in arm to the garden. We sat on a small bench. The flowers were in full bloom, and the air was fresh and sweet. Sitting there, beside Astrid, a sense of c

Eden's POVI went to see Serena first. They were all being held separately. I wanted to talk to Serena. To get the whole story from her. Adrian was being held for treason. I needed to know exactly what he had done. The dungeon door swung open and as soon as Serena saw me, she narrowed her eyes. She looked like hell. Her face was covered in dirt and her hair was a tangled mess. Her clothes were torn. She was a far cry from the put-together, well-dressed Serena I’d known before this whole incident. My heart felt heavy for her. She was so young. It was love that had driven her to this. She was guilty, yes. But is anyone REALLY guilty when it comes to love? We all do crazy things for love. I had sympathy for her.Serena, however, was clearly NOT happy to see me.“Come to gloat?” she scoffed.“Not at all,” I responded, softly.“Yeah right. I bet. The Lycan King’s girlfriend! So what? You’re just dropping by to say ‘hello’? I don’t think so. You’ve come here to make fun of me. You’re a sadi

Eden’s POVEighteen today. How the time flies by! It seems like only yesterday I was lying on the bed, crying in agony as wave after wave of labor crashed over me. She was a difficult birth, Jupiter. But I made it through, of course.Who could have known the woman she would grow into? She is standing in front of the full-length mirror, admiring herself in her new gown. She’s glorious. Soft, pink cheeks and glacier blue eyes, just like Zara’s. She is the best of witches and the best of wolves – a unique hybrid that brings out both in this fluid, magical way.“Aunty Brinsle and Aunty Astrid?” she asked, looking at my reflection standing behind her. “Are they ready?”“Yes, love,” I tell her. “They are both waiting.” There’s a gentle knock on the door, and as if on cue, Brinsle and Astrid enter.“Oh Jupes,” Brinsle says, rushing to her side. “Look at you. All grown up.” Tears well in her eyes and she turns away.“I told you, no tears today,” Jupiter scolds Brinsle. But then she smiles sof

I couldn’t believe it when Eden said the name, Jupiter. It all came together in that moment. Calista told me that visions always come true. Jupiter was born with both. She is our daughter and she will one day unite the wolves and the witches. For now, though, she’s just a bright-eyed, mischievous little five year old girl. And she is our world.Brinsle counsels Jupiter on the ways of witches. Sometimes, she takes Jupiter to different covens. The covens welcome her, this little daughter of ours. Astrid is in charge of Jupiter’s wolf training. And of course, Astrid is Jupiter’s god-mother. • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 408: Epilogue 2 – Adrian and Brinsle

Eden’s POVThe wedding was small but lovely. Zane gave Brinsle away and he was so honored to do so. It was a traditional human wedding, and Brinsle was lovely in her white dress. Adrian was handsome in his traditional human tuxedo. They chose a human wedding because they couldn’t have a werewolf one since Brinsle wasn’t a werewolf and they couldn’t have a witch wedding since Adrian wasn’t a witch. So they chose a human wedding instead. After the ceremony, we all mingled and sipped champagne while the children ran around playing tag on the grassy knoll. I was so happy for Adrian as I watched him great his guests, as was Zane. We both had a soft spot for Adrian and Brinsle. They were family as far as we were concerned. But it hadn’t always been easy. It had been a slow love between Brinsle and Adrian. They were both a bit broken and they both had serious trust issues. Brinsle had a magic that was too powerful for her and a history of lashing out. She had some pretty dark secrets in her

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 407: Epilogue 1 – Lucia and Storm

Eden’s POV“Lucia, how many times I have told you – get off the warrior training grounds!”I giggled. Lucia had a basket in her arms. It was lunch for Storm. I was sure of it. Lucia was notorious for this. She’d just scuttle right out onto the field, a basket full of food for Storm, and completely disrupt his warriors.“But it’s lunch time,” she said, cocking her head to the side.Storm was clearly embarrassed as she shook his head. His warriors smiled slyly. They were used to it. Lucia was a doting wife. She brought Storm lunch every day without fail.I was visiting for our monthly dinner date. Once a month, I made the trek out to see Lucia at her pack, the Santonio Pack. It was a bit of a hike, since her pack boundary was up in the hills. We’d chosen the location because of the view. After spending all those years on the island at the estate, Lucia swore she never wanted to see water ever again. So her pack was built up on the mountain on a flat plateau, surrounded only by tree tops

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 406: A Baby is Born

Eden’s POVI cursed Zane. I cursed sex. I cursed every one in that room and the sun and the moon and anything and everything I could think of. I had known pain in my life, really bad physical pain, but nothing had prepared me for the pain that ripped through my insides every time I had a contraction. We were back in my room. The doctor and several maids were by my side, as well as Astrid and Zane. Those were the only two people I wanted in the room with me. I gritted my teeth and did my best to breathe while contraction after contraction ripped through me. Zane wiped my forehead with cold clothes. Astrid held my hand, even though I was pretty sure I’d broken her fingers with my tight grip.I was only vaguely aware of the time, but I knew it was night.“It’s a long labour,” the doctor said. “I’m sorry, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.”Outside my window, the guests waited with baited breath. It hadn’t taken long for word to spread right after the crowning that the queen was i

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 405: Eden is Crowned Queen

Eden’s POVI knew we invited a lot of people, but I didn’t really know how many until I saw them all sprawled out there in the garden. Thousands of people, for as far as I could see. Little children waved excitedly as I passed. Little girls giggled and whispered to their mothers:“She’s the most beautiful queen I’ve ever seen.”We walked slowly, through the crowds. I took my time, nodding and smiling as I went along. Everyone smiled back.Once or twice, a strange cramp ran through my stomach and I gripped Astrid’s hand. She looked at me, a worried expression on her face.“Eden, tell me the next time you feel a cramp, okay?” she asked.“Sure,” I said. The walk to the stage took a long time. I was so humbled that this many people had come to see my coronation. Some of them had travelled a very long way. I saw the pile of presents Astrid had commented on. Holy crap was right; it was massive! My eyes swelled. Such generosity from my people.“Oh,” I said, suddenly stopping. It was a cramp

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 404: Coronation Day

Eden’s POVThe sun burst through the window and I bolted out of bed. I was so happy I could sing. It was here, it was finally here! Coronation day!The baby kicked, really hard. I pressed my hand on my stomach.“No no no,” I said. “You be a good girl and stay in there just one more day.” Then I went straight to the washroom to shower.Zane and I had stayed in separate rooms last night. The girls had stayed in my room with me: Astrid, Brinsle, Murietta, Lucia, and Chloe. We’d played silly games and talked late into the night. It had been a perfect evening, with the exception of a few major cramps. It was probably just too much food I told myself. We had, after all, stuffed our faces all night long. The women were still fast asleep when I got out of the shower. I jumped onto the bed and said in a sing-song voice:“Get up! It’s coronation day!”They all groaned. Astrid rolled over sleepily, tossing her arm over her head. “Not yet,” she said.Brinsle sat up immediately, as did Chloe. I’d

Eden’s POVMy mind reeled. A hundred thoughts ripped through my head. My heart and my stomach hurt. There was a baby?A baby with that…witch? But how? Why? This didn’t make any sense. I looked to Brinsle. If anyone would know, besides Zane, it was her. The look on her face said it all – apologetic. There WAS a baby.“Just listen,” Zane said.“You didn’t tell me?” I asked, embarrassed and angry. “You and…her? She’s carrying your baby?”“Eden, please. Just…come with me. Let’s talk.”But I didn’t want to talk. I wanted to run. I wanted to jump back into the lake and swim away again, like I had all those months ago.Had he been unfaithful to me? With a witch? He rushed towards me then and reached for my hand. But I shrugged him off.“I don’t understand,” I said.“So let me explain,” he told me.“Eden?” It was Brinsle. She was suddenly beside me. I felt like the world was spinning. I felt like I was going to be sick. “Just…just hear him out. Okay. It’s not what you think. I promise.”Her e

Eden’s POV“Excuse me?” I asked. The woman stopped in front of us. I was furious. Who the hell did she think she was? This was a private affair! This was an intimate, royal burial for MY mother. What was she talking about?“I’m guessing my invitation got lost in the mail?” the woman asked sardonically. “Zane, Brighton, Alpha so and so, nice to see you all again. Although I wish it were on happier terms.”I let Zane tense beside me. How did she know Brighton? And Zane? And was that my grandfather she was referring to.“What are you doing here?” Zane said, his voice low.“What do you mean?” she asked. “Of course I’m here. You’re burying my sister.”“This is a wolf’s burial. On wolf territory. You’re not welcome here, Lucinda,” Zane hissed.Lucinda?I knew that name. She was the head of the coven, the Falcon Crest Coven. She was the woman who had kept Zane and all the others prisoners. The woman who had personally provided Skylar with the potion for his warriors. What WAS she doing here?
